Arm raised to block another hit as a fist came down on her, landing blow after blow. Not even an effort to fight back, or plea the man to stop, that all just made it worse. She knew it was her father, that today she had woken up late, and fallen behind in everything, something she was going to regret. The moment he saw a tear, the figure took on a huge grin and grabbed the metal cane, thick and well used from the dents that shone off the dim light. Taking body shots with it as she rolled trying to make it hit bones instead of vitals. Bringing the stick down finally on the arms shielding time after time till a strong crack was heard before a swift one to the side of the head.

Waking with a start, sitting up straight, eyes wide, one hand flew to the loose t-shirt she had been sleeping in, gripping it as though reality was going to slip away if she let go. Karin Let out the deep breath of air and looked around the neutral room. She was safe here, unlike her home back in Germany, just outside Berlin. It was still early in the day, but late by her standards. All the chores should have been done hours ago; like shoveling the animal dung, feeding them all, harvesting ripe food from the tiny garden, milking the cow and collecting the eggs, watering the garden. Hell, there should have been a pile of chopped wood outside the front door for the breakfast she should have been cooking. But she didn't need to do any of that here, and it still made her uncomfortable after two months. The whole suite was sparkling clean, top to bottom, she had done it when the sun was rising hours ago, and went back to sleep when there was nothing to do and they told her to take it easy for one more day.

Letting out a second sigh she fell back into the bed, staring up at the ceiling. It bothered her knowing someone, somewhere in this building was doing similar work for all the students to be able to sleep, like her parents did when she was up early. She wanted to go do it, feeling restless in this bed, in a room she could call her own till someone joined her. Last month had been all bed rest, having been beaten to a pulp before these people found her from the note in town, and then what they did to 'help'. This month had been walking, stretching, and getting back into exercise, all because her body had thinned out a bit from the lack of fitness. Making her a little self conscious as well.

Karin still didn't trust them, tomahawk sitting at the foot of her bed out of request. She had chosen it out of the fact she had only ever used a wood cutting axe, so it felt the most natural. They may have rescued her and many others, but in exchange they wanted them to fight some sort of monstrosities? Saved so she could die from something else, sounded promising. Rolling on her side and up out of bed, A shower was first on the list to do, followed with a plain white bra and baggy boy shorts were thrown on till a less worn t shirt in grey was on and loose faded blue jeans were up to her waist. Bare foot was something she loved about this place, taking to it quickly. Calmly going about making a small breakfast just for herself while her hair dried, something Karin had managed to get used to over the two months, as opposed to family sized meals she cooked but never ate.

Lonely in a happy sort of way while she ate at the empty table. Today would feel like her first day, having done everything in her room the past two months. She didn't even know what the hall outside her door looked like. Quickly eating, even though nothing was waiting on her, she threw on socks and some plain shoes before taking a breath and staring hard at the door. Being shut in for so long had done her no favors as she debated staying in another day as suggested. It took a while but she convinced herself to leave, bursting out of the room, shutting and locking it behind her as she looked left and right down a long intimidating hallway.

Another deep breath led to walking aimlessly down the halls, trying to find somewhere to let out all this pent up energy from resting for so long. The search did take some time but she found a room with everything she needed. Punching bag, weights, and all the nice equipment she had no clue how to use. A weak smile on her lips as she took quickly to the punching bag and started on it. Steady and hard hits from her fists and legs continued on and on till her knuckles bled, unaware there was something called 'gloves' for this. The pain brought back memories which only made her punch harder and faster as she imagined the bag to be her father. Finally dropping to her knees, she felt like crying, but instead took heavy breaths and just stared at the ground, trying to calm emotions that were on fire.

It's the certainty that there is only darkness.

Stainless steel. Everything in the kitchen was stainless steel. The refrigerator. The oven. The coffee maker. Perhaps even the food was made of metal as the kitchen was rarely used for anything but a storage for simple and often raw food. Not from the fear of fire, Shin would defend himself, but rather from the lack of skills to do anything with fire. But there he sat regardless. In front of the sink cabinet, he opened and closed the refrigerator door watching the light bulb inside go bright then dark, go bright then dark. Shin, still sleepy, was expecting food to magically fall from the refrigerator, cooked and delicious, but that's not how they work, now do they?

Still in his sleep stupor, he watched the light with dulled intensity. How it flickered on and off, on and off. Electrons flowed freely, jostling each other down the current like gravity and water. Down, down, down. From the plug to the machines, creating a flow of gases, creating not cold but the absence of heat. From the plug to the wires, the switch clicking and connecting, creating the energy needed for the light bulb to brighten the interior, and just as easily, leave and shroud the insides with darkness... Darkness. Shin stared at the crack between the door, just close enough to being closed that the light turned off. A slit, a portal to the darkness. Shadows. Schattens.

Shin's mouth tightened as his pulse raced before slowly releasing the handle, allowing the door to close for good at last. "I think I'll skip breakfast." He murmured to himself as he pulled himself up. His half-unbuttoned shirt was worn like a shawl in a way, sometimes slipping off his thin, pale shoulders. His jeans were baggy and hung onto his hips precariously. It wouldn't be a surprise to assume his clothes were too big for him, but Shin liked the feel of the loose clothing. Though, the chances of his pants falling were probably pretty high, he would't mind being half-naked or in most cases almost naked seeing as his shirts were rarely fully buttoned to the top. He'd probably live with only a blanket wrapped around him if it was more socially acceptable.

It was early, and he guessed no one was up. Then that would mean that he'd just have to make do, walking the hallways like an eccentric or a ghost. After seeing the... refrigerator, Shin didn't feel like staying in his room anymore. He left his room without looking back. He never bothered locking the door, especially since the number of keys he's lost were beginning to get on everyone's nerves seeing as most of the time, someone would rather break or kick the door open.

Running a hand through his messy grey hair, he walked aimlessly down the hallways. Maybe someone else'll be awake. He really didn't want to be alone after seeing... the refrigerator. The sound of a punching bag caught his attention. Shin smiled wanely. It probably was Charlie, the workout nut. Despite the two's differences, his company seemed rather welcoming compared to the still silence of the morning.

He entered the exercise room to catch a young girl on her knees with bloody hands, and not Charlie, the workout nut. Shin didn't recognize her, therefore she was new, meaning he gets to talk to the new girl first. Yeah. "Good morning," he said softly, his voice cracking slightly from disuse.

It was a bright morning, the sun radiated through his window and the skies were clear. Charlie slid the book under his pillow and stood, stretching, the resulting cracks were a crucial part of his morning routine. As with all his showers, he took it searing hot. Whilst the water loosened his locked muscles, Charlie's mind wandered. He thought about last night, the way his brother had tried to contact him; he wondered what that meant.

He turned off the taps, too tightly, and dried himself slowly. It was unusual for him to be up so late, for him to lie in reading was out of character. He preferred to read in the evenings after dinner, curled up in the common room by the fire in his favourite comfy chair. But then again lying was out of character for him. What would the others think if they knew? Whatever they thought, it wouldn't be as damaging as the guilt he felt now.

Charlie chewed the thought over as he dressed, simply in black jeans and a navy t-shirt. He wasn't particularly famished, but out of habit he floated to the kitchen. After drinking a glass of water and half a cold pizza, he ventured out into the hallway and surveyed the territory from under messy wet hair. He knew these halls all too well and he moved through them based more on memory rather than visual recognition. That was how he came to lurk at the doorway of the exercise room. He spied Shin there, talking to a younger girl with bleeding knuckles on the floor. This was the new arrival, she was meant to be from Germany. He had seen countless new individuals come, as well as go; he hoped she was a fast learner. Shin had lived here for almost as long as Charlie, the man was quiet and his eyes were intelligent. His downfall was his laziness, and Charlie noticed he had a terrible memory.

Charlie slinked into the room, silent socked feet padding along smooth wooden floors. He nodded at Shin as he passed, pausing for a moment at an equipment station. Picking up the boxing gloves the girl had so foolishly overlooked, he looked to the new girl with a blank expression. Short dark hair, bright blue eyes and a delicate frame. Although petite she did have the look of someone who knew work, he got that sense more from the look in her eyes and the blood on her hands. Charlie tossed her the gloves, as they flew he wondered if he should say anything. He decided against it, his mouth always lead him astray; he walked to the other side of the room silently. Pulling on gloves he rolled his shoulders and loosened himself. Then he began hitting, practised and firm, and increasing in speed. He added kicks, and jabbed with his forearms, spinning and striking with precision.

It was only quite some time later he realised the girl might take him to be rude, to dislike her in some way. He dismissed the thought though, Shin might explain his odd ways anyway. Charlie was tired of making excuses for his tongue, or lack of it. There were already enough people there that didn't like him. It was better that way.

Karin froze for a second, like she did when she got in trouble. Head turning enough to see a thin framed boy standing at the door, older than her, and obviously the one who said hello. "Gut- er.... Good day?.." Sitting there she rubbed her knuckles on her palms, alternating as she tried to wipe the blood off. It stung but it did make it look better than what it was, rubbing hands together till the bloody came off with dry skin. A good sign she was used to the humidity Germany gave versus the cool dry air of this new place. Feeling like she was guilty in the middle of an act as she sat there in front of him.

It wasn't much of a moment, but after some silence between the two of them, a second man joined and threw her gloves. Looking back at the gloves, then at her hands, it made sense, how could she have been so thick not to think of it. Getting up, she walked away from the bag and towards the first arrival who had greeted her, head hung a little to avoid the fit one's glance as he worked out. Respectful of that mans brain and brawn, she hardly had brawn anymore, and nothing of a brain it seemed. "Please move out of my way?" She asked the first one, trying to get past the door without being rude and pushing past. Karin only knew German, and during the past two months, they had been shoving English down her throat. She was a fast learner, but there was only so much you could learn in two months.

In that awkward moment while she was waiting for him to move a few things came to mind. He had said hello, where the other man hadn't. He hadn't pointed her out for an idiot to boot. She could smell morning on his breath as well so he hadn't eaten, only knowing it from her father so she knew when he was drunk or hungry. Somebody worth nurturing a friendship with? It was worth a shot, she knew no one, and it was better to have allies instead of enemies.

"Kathrin, it's my name... Would you join me? To my room?.. I could make you something to eat?" As her accent peaked through in every word, she had the smallest hint of a smile as her face was almost a clean slate otherwise. She was aloud to show things like that emotion here, but there was so much to change, and so little time had passed. Old habits died hard.

It's the certainty that there is only darkness.

"Gut- er..." Shin pondered the syllable and accent in his head. Definitively European. Not of a Latin base like Estrella's Spanish. Not French's strange gutteral noises. No, something more staunchy. But his knowledge the other half of Eurasia was rather limited, and couldn't do much more then guess perhaps Central or Eastern Europe... Or maybe even Northern Europe?

Giving up, instead he watched her rub the blood off her knuckles. He hadn't watched her punch the bag, but from what he heard earlier he should have assumed an amateur. Charlie's punches were far more louder and with much more force. Precision and thought into each hit that would vary to kicks and the occasional sound of his feet sliding back and forth from the rocking bag. As much as Shin didn't agree on Charlie on the occasional pointer, he did have to respect the other's skill at simply fighting... and ability to creep out Shin. He really did wish Charlie was at least a bit more talkative, but he saw that Charlie trusted him to explain for him.

Shin couldn't help but watch the girl, catching the purposely averted eyes. She was acting pretty typical for a newcomer, except perhaps ending up in the exercise room, but each to his own. "Please move out of my way?" Definitely not a native English speaker. "Ah, uhm. Sure," he said as he awkwardly moved from the door frame to the side, but she didn't move yet.

Catherine...? Germanic origins. Dutch or German? Prussian? Oh, Shin was getting better at this European game. Especially since he only knew the anglicized version of Kathrin. "Uh... hi, Catherine. I'm Shin." He responded back with a smile of his own. "And food sounds great." Though Shin was truly glad for company and the promise of food, he couldn't help but be slightly unnerved by the near poker face she had. Far too similar to Charlie.

Speaking of Charlie, Shin remembered as they left the room. "Oh, and don't mind Charlie, the guy back there. He doesn't like to talk a lot... or use hand wraps." His smile grew a little as he vaguely remembered having an argument about whether or not Charlie should use hand wraps whenever he worked out. It's better support and protection, Shin'd argue despite his notorious pacifist ways. "He might be scary, but he might teach you a few moves." He did his best to avoid any words relating to the academy, anything to do with the past, and especially the... schattens.

" Always r e m e m b e r ... a Fox can still B I T E you to death "

Laying in bed under the navy blue satin sheets is a gorgeous young woman with icy blue eyes. Gorgeous plump rosy colored lips and smooth flawless complexion. Long wavy soft raven black hair, she has a voluptuous figure, and sun kissed skinned body. This young woman, is Estrella Isabella Castile and in her arms closer to her chest was a teddy bear, named *Caballero. The both of them slept ever so peacefully until Esa slowly began to hear heavy foot steps passing her bedroom door. At first Estrella just ignored all the sounds and snuggled closer to her stuff bear. Mean while at the bottom end of the bed by her feet all curled up in one big black mass of fur slept, Sebastian the fox. Of course nothing last and soon a thin the sun ray was hitting her on the face. Estrella just yaws and rubs her eyes as she slowly groans her way to the bathroom. After all the morning routine of showering, brushing teeth, blowing drying hair, and wearing for favorite many shade of blue dress with stocking. She looked at herself in the little mirror to make sure everything was perfect. Now why Esa is all dolled up well for two reasons; One after sharing everything with her sixteen siblings in the orphanage. To tend to like and want some pretty things and reason number two; well Estrella has a big thing for HIM so she just always want to look pretty around him.

After one final check in the mirror, Estrella went back to her room and gently scratched Sebastian behind his right ear.
"*Buenos días mi amor and its time to wake up." said, Estrella in her thick Spanish accent to the lazy sleepy black fox. Estrella just happily hums a little tune as went to the kitchen to get something to eat. After they were both happily eat and their tummy full of food. Estrella once more enter her bedroom to get her trusty bow and quiver as she swung on to her back. She opened the door and in a quick flash Sebastian run down the hallway. Sebby-chan *venir aquí ahora mismo! shouted, Esa after the fox as she just quickly closed the door behind her and ran after the fox.

Sebastian a good couple of feet away from Esa as he does a high-pitch bark {1.30} at both, Shin and Karin. Once the sly fox mange to sly pass then he once more barked at Charlie as he mange to climb on a pile of tumbling mats. He was quiet playful for this early in the morning and soon Estrella had found herself running toward the exercise room. She was slightly out of breath when she reached at the exercise room. "Oh, buenos días ... ¡Oh Shin ha visto Sebastián venir por aquí?... asked, Estrella but slowly she realized that she speaking Spanish to him and not English. Her cheek slowly grew hotter as her icy blue eyes glaces at the floor. She had a free hand rubbing the back of her neck and shyly, slightly nervously says, "Yeah..Hmm...Sorry about that...what I meant to say was hmm....'Good morning...Shin have you seen Sebastian come this way?'" Now Estrella was slightly playing with her thumbs as she waited for Shin to inform her about witch way Sebastian had gone. Mean while the fox was happily curled himself on top of the tumbling mats waiting to be found by his mistress.

So close your eyes & make a wish
Today's the day that I am fighting you
It's my turn to be
A champion
So shut your lies & count to three
I'll take you down & you'll be smithereens
Everything dreams about something
And before God calls
I’ll say ‘farewell” to all these things then and once again
I’ll go barefoot.
Every one of them wants to be taken to the other side
They’ll close the door behind me
I’ll go barefoot
I won’t take anything
I’ll go barefoot.

                                                  ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

A cold breeze nipped at the young woman’s feet as birds chirped away jubilantly, taking pleasure in the blessed sun’s rays. Ritzu quickly brought he knees up to her chest and she tucked the blanket under her chin groaning. She had forgotten she left the window open last night, letting the cool air fill her room. Refreshing, yet unwelcoming she thought as the white haired teenager tossed about in her bed straining to remember her dream. She knew it was a good one, problem is remembering why. Tossing about, Ritzu slowly edged closer to the end of her queen sized bed until she tumbled right off with a muffled ‘oof’. A bird fluttered in - not an uncommon sight as Ritzu would usually leave a bowl of seeds out for them - landing on the draws adjacent to where the young woman laid wrapped in blankets. ‘Alright alight I get it, I’m up… kinda.’ She rolled out of her cocoon and sprawled her arms and legs out, letting a deep breath expel from her body before dragging herself up to her feet.

Groggy, she hobbled over to the bathroom where she started to run hot water for a bubble bath. Vanilla filled the air as Ritzu undid the buttons of her over-sized dress shirt and dropped her panties before stepping in. Letting the warm water heat her cold body up, bubbles swirled around her as she relaxed letting the scented oils bathe her skin. Sinking in lower, she thought of the day ahead. As far as she knew, the Academy didn’t have her on duty for any missions today, though she never fully trusted those jerks in the suits. Her face screwed up a bit just thinking about this stupid place. Granted it was a decent place to live, much better than back in Poland, but it would never truly be her home. Her lips touched the surface of the water as she melted away into a place where she didn’t have to worry about Schattens or anyone else’s problems.

Dripping wet from her bath, Ritzu walked around her dorm with a towel wrapped round her body and one hanging around her neck. She wasn’t sure what time it was, but one thing she knew was that she was starving. Putting a slice of bread in the toaster, she went to quickly change into her regular clothing. When she returned, the toast was made and she made herself an open faced sandwich with turkey and edam cheese. Her hair made small water marks on her back and shoulders, but she didn’t care. After eating, she brushed her teeth and dried her hair before leaving with a parting for the birds.

Walking down the halls a pair of young boys were whispering to each other. ‘There’s that crazy lady Damian was talking about.’ ‘Yeah, she’s freaking scary, I mean look at those eyes.’ ‘Don’t say it too loud, Adam o-‘ “What are you too boys yacking about!?” Ritzu snapped, spinning around glaring at the two kids. One of them screamed and fled while the other stammered before following after him. She gave a small sigh and continuing down the hall, “Damn kids need to learn a bit of ******** respect around here.” Being born and raising in Poland, her accent was still noticeable while she spoke. Not as strong as first, but still strong enough to sound a bit odd. European accents like German, Russian, Ukraine etc. were hard to loose no matter how long you speak English for.

The young woman had no particular destination in mind. She was going to head for the gym but it sounded crowded. She would continue walking that way anyways to maybe reach the back garden; she just hoped no one else was there. Familiar murmurs came from down the hall. Curious, she followed them and saw Shin with an unfamiliar girl. Great, more people in this hell hole. ‘Though she’s kinda cute. Doubt she’ll be much use on the field… For now.’ “Hey, Shin, who’s you’re little girlfriend?” she teased, walking up and wrapping her arm around the gray haired male, ignoring the dark-haired woman and walking around her. “Cześć, I’m Ritzu. Sorry, I doubt we’ve met before,” she said with her Polish greeting towards Shin’s friend. She wasn’t very fond of new people, but that didn’t mean she had to be a rude b***h about it. The other woman on the other hand...

Karin was going to correct Shin about how he pronounced her name, but it sounded alright when he said it. Others somehow managed to butcher her simple name. Not that she had met many people but she spent a day explaining it to the doctors when she woke up here. It took forever for someone with even a little German to come and translate her first weeks. Happy he had agreed to eat she was about to leave with an actual smile on her face when she was attacked in another language. Mind the bark was a bit more unsettling, hands already fists ready to defend.

The woman was robust in personality, to say the least, loud and expressive. Karin took the opportunity to shrink away from the two a bit, not wanting to have to introduce herself to someone like her. This person was what reminded Karin called an officer, they had connections, and nothing escaped her fenced world without a tight leash and not to mention knowing about it first. Straightening up like she was going to be inspected, another among many old habits. Patiently waiting for the two to finish up. On the bright side, Karin wouldn't mind staring in her free time if it wasn't so rude.

A familiar accent just down the hall caught her ear, turning her head quickly to look where it came from. Watching a figure approach the growing group. She went off in English at Shin, some made sense, but girlfriend wasn't an English term she was familiar with. Standing there watching the woman confused, her face a little red as she tried to keep her head on straight. She was caught up with her eyes looking at the new characters form. Shaking her head when spoken to so she could get the daydreams away. Then finally Riku spoke her way and Karin had a light bulb go off, Polish?! Oh thank the gods! Karin wasn't very good at it, but, she knew more Polish than English.

"Dzięki Bogu, jestem K-Kathrin, bardzo wdzięczny przyjemność cię poznać ... Wybacz mi, mój polski jest zardzewiały ..."^ Karin was holding back any improper comments with all her might. Her cheeks very red as she tried to keep her emotions in line. "Mówisz po niemiecku?"^^ She just couldn't control her rosy cheeks, Riku reminded her of a very, very, good friend she had before and after she was four and forced to do all the chores and work. Different hair and everything, but the personality the woman gave off was so close. That girl was probably dead or well out of Germany, both of their parents being friends and sharing similar ideas didn't end well, having not seen her in a few years, but the memories! She just wanted to hug the girl and kiss Riku's cheeks, telling herself Riku wasn't the same girl was hard as she stood there just barely masking her emotions with a straight face and small smile.

((^ Thank god, I am K-Kathrin, very grateful to meet you... forgive me my polish is rusty...
^^ You speak German?))

It's the certainty that there is only darkness.

Shin took a flinching step back as Kathrin raised her fists at the sound of Sebastian. He wouldn't dare tell anyone, especially to Estrella among other things, but Sebastian only reminded him of a Schatten. A big fuzzy ball of questionably cute evil. Anything black seemed to unnerve him, but he was getting... not say better, but not worse.

But where ever Sebastian was, then Estrella was near. Today she was wearing her usual of a blue dress with stockings. Oh God. Why the stockings? Shin's gaze couldn't help but drift to her feet up the stockings and the low hem of the dress before returning back to her face, doing his best to skip the deep cut showing quite a bit of skin around her chest. Her voice, her smile, her blush. Her face had definitely its own benefits to watch. At her accidental language mix up, Shin attempted to respond in poor elementary Spanish with a stagatto emphasis. "Si, va a Charlie." He pointed to inside the room where Charlie was still at alone, in case his words were unclear.

The multi-ethnicity of the Academy forced many to learn English, but Shin came with an advantage of had already been taught some English at China. However, a large majority of the other students were of European descent, leaving his Chinese rather unused. By now, the best he could do was read modern Chinese, guess at traditional Chinese, and speak and pronounce at an extremely slow pace. The last time he wrote Chinese was with a Japanese student seeing as they could barely communicate with each other in kanji.

But when Estrella came to the Academy... Well, he's been trying. Spanish was remarkably similar in terms of grammatical structure to Chinese, making it easier for Shin to learn, but the lack of a teacher and the fear of saying something stupid to Estrella left him with more of a jumble of words that he could only hoped was correct. As he quickly decided to correct himself, whether or not he was wrong in Engish, "He went over there, to where Charlie is." His hand still lingering in the air, a feint blush coming to his own cheeks.

Then came Ritzu. And her 'girlfriend' comment. Lord knows it took him years to fully understand irony and sarcasm, it's heavy emphasis in the English language. But still he frowned slightly, despite knowing it was a joke. "She's not my girl friend," he murmured as the weight and pull of Ritzu had him leaning to the side as her arm decided to wrap itself around his neck, which made little sense from their height differences. But Shin wasn't about to fight the force stronger then gravity pulling him to the ground, so leaning awkwardly it was despite hearing his back crack a few times from the stretch. Though it brought his eye level to where he would see now Estrella's... Crossing his arms, Shin did his best to avoid staring.

The new girl lit up at the... Polish, was it? Shin forgot what ethnicity Ritzu was again. It was something Eastern, that's all he could remember for sure. "Well, she seems to be more happy with you then me." He smiled at Ritzu.

So close your eyes & make a wish
Today's the day that I am fighting you
It's my turn to be
A champion
So shut your lies & count to three
I'll take you down & you'll be smithereens
Everything dreams about something
And before God calls
I’ll say ‘farewell” to all these things then and once again
I’ll go barefoot.
Every one of them wants to be taken to the other side
They’ll close the door behind me
I’ll go barefoot
I won’t take anything
I’ll go barefoot.

                                                  ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Ritzu scoffed, "She's not my girl friend." A voice piped up as she looked toward the blue eyed girl. "Dzięki Bogu, jestem K-Kathrin, bardzo wdzięczny przyjemność cię poznać ... Wybacz mi, mój polski jest zardzewiały ..." Ritzu tried to suppress a small giggle; rusty was an understatement. Her words were a bit jumbled but it was still understandable. "Mówisz po niemiecku?" She had to think for a split second what she meant when saying 'Maybe German?' Haha, nie przepraszam. Ale miło cie poznac*” "Well, she seems to be more happy with you then me." She looked down at Shin, noticing where his eyes were staring at. "Shin you big pervert! I knew it!” he yelled, jumping back jokingly. Though she had to admit the Latin woman did have a nice pair of breasts, but rule number one is not to stare. She grabbed Kathrin's hand "This is no place for a young maiden to stay. How do I know you're not a ***** either? She knew he was just a year younger than her, but still it got the point across. "Chodź, uciekamy stont!** she called before running away from Shin and Estrella, dragging Kathrin with her.

Hand in hand, they dashed down the halls with their feet stomping against the hardwood. Heart pounding, she felt the scrapes along the young girl's knuckles as she looked down to check if they were still together. Ritzu notices dried blood formed around the wounds and would ask her about it once they slowed down. She wanted to show the girl around since it looked like she wasn't familiar with anything. Charles or Shin were here the longest and could probably show Kathrine around the physical building themselves, but the language barrier was strong, plus it's outside that counted the most.

They burst through two large glass doors that opened to a breath-taking garden. Stone walkways were surrounded with lilacs and lilies. Bird song and fresh floral scent mixed with fresh water filled the atmosphere. Ritzu was fortunate enough to have a view of the garden from her windows. The large river cut through the Academy's property starting at the lake and winding through. There were long wooden bridges that allowed you to get around and enter the thick forest that never ceased to amaze the Polish girl. Trees that normally wouldn't survive in Russia are able to thrive here with little problem.

Seating the young German girl on a stone bench facing the river and forest. She sat down nest to her and ran her fingers over her knuckles; they were beaten badly and a flash of worry struck in her chest. An odd feeling since with anyone else Ritzu would have paid little mind about anything they did. But there was something about this girl that just made her want to hold her in her arms. Furiously, she pushed the thought away. "What happened to your hands?" she asked in English, placing her hand on her lap.

*No, sorry. But it's nice to meet you.
**Come, we're getting out of here.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx`█xx мистер Milan Iskander

It was one of those days. Actually, every day was like this. Where he purposefully avoided most of the other students in order to retain his sanity and in order to skirt around the conversations that pointlessly circled those around him like bees. They were loud, the students, and so Milan often sought refuge in the garden when it wasn’t so hot. Even in the bitter cold, he ventured here to relax on the stone benches and stare out into the rolling canvas of green and white. With springtime about, flowers shyly poked their faces up toward the sun overhead, and he thought he might have plucked them from their willowy stems had he not been so comfortable sitting beside one of the streams. The water was like ice, but it sounded so tranquil as it trickled across weathered stones that he didn’t mind the breezes that wafted from the shallow brook. It was peaceful out here in the morning, and when he was here by himself, he did not have to concern himself with maybe how he ought to weave together his words to better fit in with society. Difficult to do with a vocabulary that rivaled Webster’s. At least, that was what he’d been told once or twice before in innocent jest.

Milan actually regretted failing to bring his weapon out here; he might have tenderly sharpened it, as he was wont to do when he was quietly thinking about nothing in particular. Well, that was a bit of a falsity, for he always thought about something. There was rarely a time when his mind stilled completely, but it was much easier to ignore the callings of hardship and struggle during soundless mornings like this one. Eventually, he knew the day would begin and he would have to interact with someone. He only hoped it was someone he got along with, relatively speaking. Sometimes, it was easier not to try.

Better not to offend someone he couldn’t actually win against in a fight, right? He did not enjoy losing very frequently, despite the fact that he rarely brought attention to his winnings either. It was just something to do, fighting, a strategy to complete and a game to win. He did love games, and he thought if he could coerce someone into playing a game of chess with him at that moment, he might have asked. However, such a thing was unlikely as he continued to stare out over the chilly waters. He only knew a few people, older students. Then again, he was one of the older ones himself now. What a thought that he should be here at nineteen. His mother might have been proud. Possibly.

Aimlessly picking at the grass below him, Milan hummed to himself, mentally preparing to face the day and acquire sustenance from one of the dining areas around the academy. He could cook marginally well, but was horribly uncreative and followed recipes almost to a point of perfection. He wasn’t that hungry, but he surmised that his body would require a solid meal before he engaged in any sort of physical training for the day. At least that was something he could lose himself in and not have to actively socialize during. Who spouted small talk whilst battling an opponent? Actually, Milan could think of a few people… After a few minutes of contemplating whether or not to stand up, he thought he heard sounds coming from behind him. Lovely. Footsteps brushed against the ground, the soft echo of two pairs of shoes gracing the atmosphere before the sounds paused. Voices softly carried across the air, and he could hear the timbre of a female’s voice cutting through the breeze to inquire about the state of someone’s hands. Hmm. Milan thought he should turn around, examine his new surroundings, but the prospect of it was so disdainful that it took him almost an entire minute to finally force himself to look over his shoulder at the two figures now seated upon a bench of stone. Oh. He knew one of them. Ritzu, the girl who was speaking. They had probably ventured out here to escape something as well.

He hoped he hadn’t yet been spotted, although he predicted there was no easy or inconspicuous way to abscond from his place by the river back through the double doors the two girls just emerged from. Alas. Well, Ritzu wasn’t so bad, and he had no knowledge of who the other girl was. Something rare for him, for Milan usually recalled such useless information as who people were years after he’d first met them in passing. Well, he’d see how this went, and if either of them stared at him or something that designated he make some sort of auditory response.

Prentice dropped the weights into his front closet, his breathing heavy. He had been up for an hour or so already, and had used that time to work out. He knew that extra strenth training was neccessary because of his weapon--even though the hammer was lighter than it looked, it was still heavy. It would be pretty awful if he couldn't swing the thing in the middle of a fight. But Prentice didn't want anyone to think he was one of those workout nuts, so he avoided going into the actual exercise room as much as he could, doing the majority of his training by himself.

Prentice dragged himself into the bathroom and threw his slightly damp clothes into a hamper to be washed whenever he got the chance. He turned on the shower and jumped in, the steam making the already warm room even hotter. Prentice took his time, wanting to be sure that he had rid himself of all the grime. Once he had toweled himself off, he pulled on the clothes that he had already meticulously laid out for himself. The white button-down shirt and plain black pants were what passed for casual in Prentice's mind. He tied his long hair back in a low ponytail with a bit of string and left for the kitchen.

There, Prentice ate a quick breakfast of toast before exiting into the hallways. He pulled on a jacket before he left; even if he kept his room nice and warm, it din't mean that the rest of the Academy was so comfortable. Prentice didn't really have a destination as he wandered the halls. He had nowhere in particular where he had to be.

Prentice found himself at the glass doors that led to the Academy's gardens. He glanced inside, and saw a few people seated on benches. Prentice pushed open the doors and strode inside, not even looking to see who they were. It was lonely, just wandering the halls. As he moved deeper inside, being careful to stay on the stone paths, he looked closer at the people. One of the two girls he recognized as Ritzu, but the other one was unfamiliar. She was probably new, Prentice assumed. The two seemed to be talking, so Prentice planned to leave them alone. But then Ritzu said something about the other girl's hands, and Prentice glanced down only to see that they were bleeding. He stopped not too far from them.

"Are you all right?" he asked, the words out of his mouth before he formed even a complete thought. He hadn't meant to speak, but now that he had already interrupted... "You're new here, right? Is everything okay?"

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗

Darius had chosen to distance him self from the others this morning. Thier was nothing to speak about. All he could offer is a greeting, nothing more. His relationship with them, changed often enough. Seeing eye to eye rarely happened. Then again none where like him. All of the others at least around his own age had lives before coming here. He did not. This existence is the only one he knew of. Honestly he didn't know what it meant to be normal as the others understood it. He knew to work and train, day in day out. Breaks where a rare occurrence. Even on an off day like today he stood at the end of the firing range.

A large frame handgun in one grip and a hammer in the other. His sights where locked on a target down a ways. He had cleared the safety desk or what have you so that he would be able to freely move. Turning his body to the side he began to slowly strafe towards the left. Each step was followed with a squeeze of the trigger. His grip was strong, fighting the recoil to keep the sight on target. Numerous rounds hit, not all dead on. Some off to the side, others to high. None the less some progress had been made. Reloading was a different matter onto its self. The spent magazine would be dropped, hitting the ground with a thud. Another would be swiped by his right hand, carrying the hammer. Workouts kept him strong. Then it would be brought up slipped in and cocked before he continued to fire. From there a change in direction and speed occurred until he reached a jog. Within a period of an hour he finished up. Cleaned up the spent casings. Could reused or smelted, cut back on some costs perhaps. He really didn't have much insight into such things. He knew how to take the gun apart, how to repair some things. How it was made, where it came from was beyond him.

Darius moved back. Found a seat. He leaned his back into the cushion. Letting his hammer lay next to him, the head resting upon the ground. His gaze wandered about the area. He did take things bit easier today. A break was welcomed. No additional pressure aside from what he placed on his self. Leaning to the side he lifted his hand to hold his head. His eyes closed in the moments to come. He would remain still for about fifteen minuets. Letting his breathing relax before moving about once more. He grabbed the various targets, looked them over. "See how I do later today" he muttered to him self before leaving. He did lock up his weapon before heading out of the shooting range. Swinging the maul, the haft came to rest on his shoulder as he moved about the grounds.

His head tipped back. The sky was clear the day not too warm. Given he preferred winter him self. Nice and cold, easier to warm your self up then to cool your self down Or so he found. Soon he stopped. Tried to determine where to go next from here. His room seemed to be a good option, grab a small bite to eat. Go for a little walk after that. His choice in clothing at this time was simple. A black t-s**t and a par of white baggy jeans. Sure stains showed up on them but he liked the way they looked. An near by entrance became his goal. Soon the hallways came. Dull for the most part. Two figures caught his attention. "Shin. Es" e said with a little nod. Typical greeting from him. He didn't stare at her. Personally he did not understand why some of the guys drooled over her appearance. Easy enough to get used too.

Darius came to a stop and looked at her for a moment. A friendly expression upon his face. "Will I be seeing you at lunch" he asked. They ate together on occasion. Nice to have a bit of company and he helped her with English every now and then. His eyes did wander into the exercise room as the door remained open. They did return to her soon."If not I understand" he said with a little smile. Didn't force things onto others, well not in these situations. In others things where vastly different. His posture remained relaxed. Hip a little to one side, hand loosely gripping the half of his maul. A finger through a belt loop, while leaning back slightly.

" Always r e m e m b e r ... a Fox can still B I T E you to death "

Estrella shortly stopped playing with her thumbs and looked up when Shin spoke to her. Her smiled widen to hear him try to speak in her native tongue but it wasn't until he said 'Charlie'. That her heart skipped a beat, yup Estrella had thing for Charlie but it was just so hard for her to say anything to him. Ever time Esa gather what ever strength she had to speak to him one or two things would happen. She would trip on the air it self or speak only Spanish to Charlie and finally have a nose bleed from her embarrassment of making a fool of herself in front of Charlie. Esa could feel her heart beat faster on her right side of her chest. A normal person their heart laid on the left and not on the right side. Plus she had what you called, heart rhythm disorders. She had to keep her heart beat always in steady rhythm. If not then valves in her heart not being able to close properly which leads to blood spilling out into the wrong parts of the heart. Since the Academy, Estrella's heart has been much stronger just she does have an out breaks of nose bleeds.

She was quickly brought back to reality then Ritzu soon joined the group. Esa just nodded respectfully at Ritzu it wasn't that she doesn't like her its just it seems the two girls never really got along. Esa just stood quietly with her arms crossed under her chest as she watched the playful teasing and listening to strange yet lovely language. To her it sounded like a lovely music ton but it wasn't that Ritzu shouted something about 'pervert' that she looked around her. At first Estrella thought Ritzu was talking to someone else but no it turn out to be Shin. Estrella just blushed and looked away since she was kinda used of guys looking at her as a piece of candy. Of course it was no one to blame but herself as the way she dress to get Charlie's attentions beside making a clumsy fool of herself. Estrella just titled her head to the side little all confused as she blinked for the new word '*****' as being shouted at Shin. She blinked some more as Ritzu dashed off with the new girl. She then turn to look at Shin and sweetly asked, "What does hmm.. Pe..Pe-do-file means Shin?" She sweetly waited for poor Shin to explain to her what the new word meant. Soon her ice blue eyes drifted away from Shin and toward a very familiar voice and her smiled widen as Darius join them. She nodded at his question and happily replied, "*Si, I'll be seeing you at lunch today if you don't mind helping me with my English again, Darius."

S H I NH A N

It's the certainty that there is only darkness.

"Shin, you big pervert! I knew it!" Shin blushed noticeably now. The pink flush showing quite well on his pale skin. Ritzu noticed... And as Shin looked up, it was obvious that Estrella noticed as well. Damn. Damn. Damn. Perhaps there was still a way to salvage something.

As Ritzu removed her arm to run off with Kathrin, she left with final words. "How do I know you're not a ***** either?" At that, he was horrified at the thought. *****?! "The age of consent changes per country!" he uncharacteristically yelled as they left off to who knows where. Probably to the gardens, a favorite of Ritzu's.

His heart raced even faster as Estrella asked what a ***** was. "Es-s-s un per-p-persona... uh... amo? No! Amore... ama mal a unos n-n-n-ninos.*" He stuttered out what he could with the most simple of words, but couldn't tell when he cringed more; when he said "ninos" or accidently said "amo". He groaned inwardly.

Shin really couldn't help himself. He was trying, trying really hard to speak Spanish, to not stare, but trying wasn't good enough apparently. It wasn't that hard to see how Estrella grew flustered around Charlie, and he could understand. Despite arriving at the Academy within months of each other, it was easy to see who would be the more successful one at anything. The only advantage Shin could claim was that he naturally liked talking to people, allowing for friendships to form. But still. He was a complete coward, especially now, with Darius' entrance.

"Hey, Darius! What's up?" He asked more interested in changing the subject away from ***** and any association with him. Shin noticed the weapon, as it was rather hard not to notice. Anything was deemed better then continuing talking with Estrella since the chance of Shin doing something relatively common and stupid grew higher and higher as he stood there. "Want to spar?" Shin almost winced, but instead smiled. He can't remember the last time he sparred with Darius... or anyone for that matter.
