DATE: SEPTEMBER 5TH
TIME: 8:00 AM
WEATHER: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH LIGHT, CHILLY WINDS.
"Eh!? What do you mean Luron's missing!?" Two voices piped up in unison from the front gates of
Lestava Academy. One of the voices belonged to the Literature teacher, Natsume - who was well-known
for her booming voice - while the other one belonged to the guidance counselor, Kaede. Both of
them, as well as Luther - not showing any sign of surprise - were just informed that apparently
the Headmaster has gone missing and no one has been able to trace any hints on his current
whereabouts. Their morning informant, Emmalia, held her hands up in defense as the two
continued on with their minor, yet dramatic anxiety attacks.
"This can't be happening!" Kaede panicked, starting to run all ten fingers through his hair. At this,
point, he didn't even care about the sloppy mess he just made on the top of his head. "Where
could he have gone to? Why hasn't anyone found him yet? Do you know what stress does to a
man like me!?" He leaned in closer to Emmalia with each new sentence he shouted. If he continued
on, he probably would have poofed into a tanuki by now, but the look of shame that showed
on the female elf's face in front of him just made him regret all the words he said.
"I'm sorry... It was just something that I was told to tell you all about." She spoke softly as if it
really was her fault in the first place. Before anyone could say another word, she turned her back
and dashed off as quickly as she could.
"Ah, no, wait! Emmalia...!" Kaede reached out a hand to her back, trying to grasp her shoulder,
but was already out of reach before he could. As she kept running, not even turning back once,
the guilt in Kaede's chest only grew more and more. His outburst on her was a pure accident,
and although Emmalia was sure to forgive him later if he apologized, the weight on his shoulders
would probably take days to subside because, well.... It was Emmalia.
"Look sharp, Kaede." Luther, resting a firm grip on his colleague's shoulder, spoke up just loud enough
to break away the disappointed counselor from his thoughts. "We have more things to worry about
than Luron's disappearance and your incompetence."
As Kaede turned his face towards the entrance, they could start to see the students unloading from
the docks at the bottom of the hill. Instantly, Kaede's mood changed and he felt a rush of energy
start to display itself. For a second even, Natsume could have sworn that she saw legitimate
sparkles in his eyes. As she giggled, Luther made his move in unfolding boxes that consisted of
more boxes prepped just for the students.
In those boxes were the winter and summer uniforms, information booklets such as school rules,
student code of conduct, and then a small stack of paperwork that had to be filled in and turned
in by the students some point in the beginning of the school. The last, and most significant,
part of this package was the item that was put at the very top of it all - the student identification
bracelet. It's a thin, golden bracelet that is required for all students to wear at all times. Even more
than that, it holds it's own little secret that only the faculty will remain knowledgeable about it until
the opening ceremony. Those wrist bands don't just track students or hold their information about
identity in it, but - unless human already - it reduces any part of them by 95% that is non-human.
So, in other words, it makes them as close to a human as it can - with a magical force that
makes it impossible to take of. And, of course, the one in charge of creating these bracelets
is the Headmaster himself.

A gust of wind blew through the forest, shaking the trees just enough for the leaves to dance their
way to the ground. The crunch from the leaves heard in Luron's steps signaled to him that the fall
was approaching and will be arriving soon enough. This only meant one thing to him: the time
for his many, many years of effort was finally here - Lestava was officially opening. Although he
was well aware of this; although he knew that he should be on the campus, greeting and
welcoming the students as they take their first steps onto his terrain, he just couldn't find it in
himself to be there. There was some place else he wanted to be for the time being. There was
someone else that he wanted to see, and although he knew that couldn't be, it didn't stop him
from continuing on this trail full of memories that he wish he could forget.
"I'm here, love." He spoke in a tone filled with sadness, yet the smile on his family only reflected
the affection that was glistening in his eyes. The person he wish he could see was his one and only
beloved, Sophia. At least, that was all he could see. In reality, it was just her gravestone that stood
in front of him, entirely covered in rusted leaves and dirt carried over by the winds that whispered
to him over and over again that the only thing he had left in the world was gone. That was why,
whenever he went to visit her, Luron never simply just saw a gravestone - he saw her there, too.
Just envisioning, of course, but that alone made him pleased with his visit.
Kneeling down, he brushed away the debris that laid upon her as she rested and began speaking.
"So today's the day, Sophia. You've been more excited about this than I, haven't you?" A small
chuckle escaped his lips. He could just see her sitting there, staring at him with her large eyes
filled with exhilaration, wanting time to move quickly just so she could see what kind of things
come along during the school year. That was when Luron's unsettling feelings started to show.
His face grew pale as realization was forced into his heart. Time for Luron, as well as everyone
else attending Lestava Academy, would keep moving forward but Sophia's time came to a stop
years ago. No matter how much he yearned to see her again, Luron was more than aware that
that could never happen because those who live must continue to live. And those who are dead
will only continue to stay dead in the cold, dark Earth.
Panicking, the headmaster took a hesitated step forward before he began to blurt out his concerns.
"What am I supposed to without you here to help me? How am I supposed to manage this all on
my own? You know I–" Luron stopped when he imagined the smile that she'd probably have on her
face. It was the smile she always gave him whenever she simply said, "Just have faith, dear."
"Faith, huh?" Another smile appeared on his face, but this time anxious just from thinking about
this thing called 'faith'. It was a very simple, one syllable word and although it barely meant
anything now-a-days to most races, it continued to uphold such a strong sentiment for the weak.
No, not the weak... Just the hopeless.
