                                                        TIME: 8:00 AM
WEATHER: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH LIGHT, CHILLY WINDS.

"Eh!? What do you mean Luron's missing!?" Two voices piped up in unison from the front gates of
Lestava Academy. One of the voices belonged to the Literature teacher, Natsume - who was well-known
for her booming voice - while the other one belonged to the guidance counselor, Kaede. Both of
them, as well as Luther - not showing any sign of surprise - were just informed that apparently
the Headmaster has gone missing and no one has been able to trace any hints on his current
whereabouts. Their morning informant, Emmalia, held her hands up in defense as the two
continued on with their minor, yet dramatic anxiety attacks.

"This can't be happening!" Kaede panicked, starting to run all ten fingers through his hair. At this,
point, he didn't even care about the sloppy mess he just made on the top of his head. "Where
could he have gone to? Why hasn't anyone found him yet? Do you know what stress does to a
                                                        man like me!?"
He leaned in closer to Emmalia with each new sentence he shouted. If he continued
on, he probably would have poofed into a tanuki by now, but the look of shame that showed
on the female elf's face in front of him just made him regret all the words he said.

"I'm sorry... It was just something that I was told to tell you all about." She spoke softly as if it
really was her fault in the first place. Before anyone could say another word, she turned her back
and dashed off as quickly as she could.

"Ah, no, wait! Emmalia...!" Kaede reached out a hand to her back, trying to grasp her shoulder,
but was already out of reach before he could. As she kept running, not even turning back once,
the guilt in Kaede's chest only grew more and more. His outburst on her was a pure accident,
and although Emmalia was sure to forgive him later if he apologized, the weight on his shoulders
would probably take days to subside because, well.... It was Emmalia.

"Look sharp, Kaede." Luther, resting a firm grip on his colleague's shoulder, spoke up just loud enough
to break away the disappointed counselor from his thoughts. "We have more things to worry about
than Luron's disappearance and your incompetence."

As Kaede turned his face towards the entrance, they could start to see the students unloading from
the docks at the bottom of the hill. Instantly, Kaede's mood changed and he felt a rush of energy
start to display itself. For a second even, Natsume could have sworn that she saw legitimate
sparkles in his eyes. As she giggled, Luther made his move in unfolding boxes that consisted of
more boxes prepped just for the students.

In those boxes were the winter and summer uniforms, information booklets such as school rules,
student code of conduct, and then a small stack of paperwork that had to be filled in and turned
in by the students some point in the beginning of the school. The last, and most significant,
part of this package was the item that was put at the very top of it all - the student identification
bracelet. It's a thin, golden bracelet that is required for all students to wear at all times. Even more
than that, it holds it's own little secret that only the faculty will remain knowledgeable about it until
the opening ceremony. Those wrist bands don't just track students or hold their information about
identity in it, but - unless human already - it reduces any part of them by 95% that is non-human.
So, in other words, it makes them as close to a human as it can - with a magical force that
makes it impossible to take of. And, of course, the one in charge of creating these bracelets
                                                        is the Headmaster himself.

                                                        . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A gust of wind blew through the forest, shaking the trees just enough for the leaves to dance their
way to the ground. The crunch from the leaves heard in Luron's steps signaled to him that the fall
was approaching and will be arriving soon enough. This only meant one thing to him: the time
for his many, many years of effort was finally here - Lestava was officially opening. Although he
was well aware of this; although he knew that he should be on the campus, greeting and
welcoming the students as they take their first steps onto his terrain, he just couldn't find it in
himself to be there. There was some place else he wanted to be for the time being. There was
someone else that he wanted to see, and although he knew that couldn't be, it didn't stop him
from continuing on this trail full of memories that he wish he could forget.

"I'm here, love." He spoke in a tone filled with sadness, yet the smile on his family only reflected
the affection that was glistening in his eyes. The person he wish he could see was his one and only
beloved, Sophia. At least, that was all he could see. In reality, it was just her gravestone that stood
in front of him, entirely covered in rusted leaves and dirt carried over by the winds that whispered
to him over and over again that the only thing he had left in the world was gone. That was why,
whenever he went to visit her, Luron never simply just saw a gravestone - he saw her there, too.
Just envisioning, of course, but that alone made him pleased with his visit.

Kneeling down, he brushed away the debris that laid upon her as she rested and began speaking.
"So today's the day, Sophia. You've been more excited about this than I, haven't you?" A small
chuckle escaped his lips. He could just see her sitting there, staring at him with her large eyes
filled with exhilaration, wanting time to move quickly just so she could see what kind of things
come along during the school year. That was when Luron's unsettling feelings started to show.
His face grew pale as realization was forced into his heart. Time for Luron, as well as everyone
else attending Lestava Academy, would keep moving forward but Sophia's time came to a stop
years ago. No matter how much he yearned to see her again, Luron was more than aware that
that could never happen because those who live must continue to live. And those who are dead
will only continue to stay dead in the cold, dark Earth.

Panicking, the headmaster took a hesitated step forward before he began to blurt out his concerns.
"What am I supposed to without you here to help me? How am I supposed to manage this all on
                                                        my own? You know I–"
Luron stopped when he imagined the smile that she'd probably have on her
face. It was the smile she always gave him whenever she simply said, "Just have faith, dear."

"Faith, huh?" Another smile appeared on his face, but this time anxious just from thinking about
this thing called 'faith'. It was a very simple, one syllable word and although it barely meant
anything now-a-days to most races, it continued to uphold such a strong sentiment for the weak.

No, not the weak... Just the hopeless.

Dancing figures glided across the floor of a grand ballroom, all moving to the classical music that filled the large space. The floors were a black marble that reflected everything, the walls were also a dark color, lined with gorgeous stained glass windows. The most gorgeous feature of the room seemed to be the paintings on the ceiling. It was a glorious sight to behold, almost like a dream. The party guests seemed as they were glowing with joy as they would spin almost endlessly. However, the guests had no faces to express the joy that their movements implied. Oh no, they were nothing but black figures in lovely dresses and dapper suits, whose only purpose was to move according to the music. Many wore masks, but the expressions underneath were all the same; non-existent.

Near the center of the dance floor, one figure stood out from the lot. A female whose physical being was not dark or indistinguishable. Her skin was light, her hair was silver and her eyes were a bright indigo. She appeared to be just another one of the dancing party guests; however, she was the conductor of this entire soiree. Everything in this realm was her doing; it was her vision of a beautiful waltz.

Claire Truelock was a witch who loved spinning dreams. Each detail of this grand ballroom had spawned from her imagination. It truly had a feel that was much different from an ordinary room. The image of the ballroom, the people, the music; it was all a dream. Claire was actually fast asleep on the boat that was carrying her to Lestava Academy. Her magic had lulled her to sleep at some point, and used this opportunity to put the dream in motion.

The witch danced with one of the dark male figures as the music went on, and all seemed normal for this particular dream. However, after she spun two steps away from her dance partner, the music came to an abrupt halt. She had closed her eyes for a moment, only to open them to the sight of an empty ballroom. All of the dancing figures had disappeared. It seemed a bit odd, but she had no explanation for the occurrence.

Looking up to the large stained glass window, in the northern part of the room, she could see the light of the moon shining through; illuminating each color mixed in the glass. It was a pleasant sight at first; although, it soon became a cause for worry as a huge crack suddenly formed with in it, followed by many other smaller cracks. Soon enough, cracks began to form in all of the other windows as well. Claire could only raise a small hand to cover her mouth as she took a step back. But, once that step was taken, cracking could now be heard below.

Looking down, she noticed the floor was cracking just as easily as all of the glass. What was happening to her lovely dream? Why was it breaking? Did she unintentionally fabricate a nightmare? Before she could finish processing her thoughts, the floor gave way and shattered. Claire could do nothing but fall into a black abyss as the floor underneath her feet no longer existed. This occurrence lead no where, and the dream could only end. Was this a sign of some sort? She could hardly think of anything a breaking dream would signify. Perhaps it was just nothing, an accident she could repair at a later time.

                                                User Image

Hearing the sound of a ferry horn, Claire stirred in her sleep. Her eyes fluttered open, and her blurred vision took a moment to clear. Once she was able to perceive her surroundings, she suddenly remembered that she was in the cabin of a small ferry that was taking her and another person to the academy they had both been invited to. Claire merely fell asleep on the way. It was all quite odd really. There were only two students on this ship, but according to the letter, the school described itself as being a fairly large facility. Where on earth were the other students? Perhaps the witch had been over thinking things lately, and there was another ship carrying the majority. Still, it was just a little weird.

Looking out the circular window, Claire noticed land. It seemed as if the horn was merely signaling a possible docking. Finally, they had arrived. The young woman had never really traveled by boat before, so she didn't really enjoy it all that much; especially being cramped in such a small space, which was the cabin, for so long. Couldn't they have sent for a larger vessel with comfortable rooms and more space to move around? Lets not even get started on how they had to cram all of her luggage in such an undesirable fashion. Oh, her poor books. She prayed none of them came out damaged. She didn't even want to think about the few tea sets she dragged along.

After watching the scenery outside for a few minutes, Claire decided it would be best to prepare herself to disembark soon. She closed the book she had been reading, prior to falling asleep, and stood up from her seat, giving a momentary stretch to loosen her relaxed muscles. After a satisfying stretch, she looked toward a decent sized carry on bag in the corner. It was merely for clothes and other things she would have needed during the ferry ride. But to be honest, the majority of it's contents were books- aside from the obvious necessities.

With a point of her finger, anything she had previously pulled from the bag and left out had lifted from their resting spot and floated back into the bag. Lightly waving her finger to the side, the bag zipped itself and the straps positioned themselves on top so they could be grabbed with ease, “Good, now I'm ready...” she spoke. However, when she went and attempted to lift the bag, she frowned as she suddenly remembered how much the books inside had weighed it down. She was able to lift it, however, she was quick to give up the idea of carrying it herself, as the bag just didn't seem to be getting any lighter, “Oh dear, this is much too heavy. I can't possibly carry this the whole way... Not by myself at least...” she said, with the slightest bit of complaint laced in that British accent. So, she resorted to magic. Perhaps she was just a little spoiled, and use to people doing things for her, but why not use magic if you have it? If it meant she didn't have to carry it the entire way, she saw no issue. Too bad she would be getting a bit of a rude awakening with whatever this school had in store soon enough.

Using her magic, as planned, the bag floated into the air and stopped no higher than her shoulder. It followed behind Claire as she exited the cabin and waited for the ship to dock, which wasn't a long wait at all. As soon as the ship was docked, she stepped off and took a look around the area from where she stood. There really were more ships. It seems as though she guessed right, but not entirely. Regardless, she was a little eager to observe the other “witches” attending this school.

OOC: AWKWARD FIRST POST! Sorry if it sucks in any way! Also if there are any errors don't be afraid to point them out, I'll fix them...Q v Q Also, shes gonna lose that magic once the bracelet is in effect. That's the "rude awakening" part... ;D

He didn’t like boats, was the decision he made as he sat on the vessel. Feeling it rock him back and forth, back and forth in a rhythmic, swaying motion as it split across the waters towards its destination. His destination. Perhaps that was another reason he disliked boats now; it was taking him away from his home and delivering him somewhere new. New never boded well with him. Perhaps it was the unusual bad luck that it seemed to bring to him, or simply he wasn’t so easily pleased or amused by that which others would be. A scholarship to a private school on a fancy island seemed like it should be a lottery ticket, but all it made him want to do is trek back home, even if it was spent walking, or well swimming at this point.

His time spent on his transportation, on which he was the lone guest on, circled around reading. Paper between his fingers, he traced the ink with his eyes as he recounted the memorized words that had been ingrained from so many reiterations. He found himself displeased with the stickiness the new found heat brought to his book’s pages, worried the sudden moisture would cause the worn paper to tear. It was difficult to fix rips, although one would think buying a new copy would fix this problem, he found that to be such a waste. Despite the warmer weather and constant bustling since before the sun rose, Atlas was enjoying the salt in the air and quiet he was feeling during his travels for the day, despite his unease. The situation wasn’t ideal, actually it was one he quite loathed, but he found himself enjoying the climate change compared to his home’s. It helped that he had been traveling that day since early morning, the slight coolness left from being under the moon keeping him comfortable for the time.

The distant sound of bustling and more slits through the air cause him to look up from his book, pools of blue peeking over the top edge of the binded papers. Other vessels could be spotted, pulling into a dock that was slowly becoming larger as his own approached. His unease grew the closer he came to his new school. For some reason he felt even more against going than before, which was strange. He was expecting to have gotten over his distaste for the situation and settle into a general lack of enthusiasm type of state, however he could push away the droll of warnings going off in his head, that this was strange. He was the only passenger on this boat that was supposed to be headed for a school of others like him, those of the fylgja race, but as it stood, the ability to actually form a school consisting of just those of his race was highly unlikely. Also, it would practically be an all girls school, although it was clear he was male himself, rarely was a male born with the fylgja gene. He had raised these suspicions and such arguments to his grandmother but she had simply shooed him off with reminders that she wanted cute grandchildren. Of course after having threatened him with the burning of his personal mini library if he didn’t go. Any questions he had, he was sure would be answer themselves upon arrival, which couldn’t be too long now, not with how quickly they seemed to be moving towards the island.

                                              He returned to his book.

Feeling the side of the ship gently bump against the dock, Atlas really suspected the captain of the vessel was a bit hungover or still drunk from his night before, as the boat ride hadn't been the steadiest. However, at this time, he neither cared nor dwelled on any possible opinions on the sobriety of the man that had taken him to this island as it didn’t matter now that his feet were going to be planted on steady land. Reaching down, he gently tucked his book under his arm before hefting his backpack ver his shoulder. Sliding his other arm through the other strap, juggling his book, he adjusted the bag before reaching down once again to pick up his duffle. Both bags held a fair ratio between clothing, books, and needed items for his stay at the academy, pulling down and giving them a fair weight for him to carry.

Stepping onto the docks, he felt a sudden pull as his body reoriented itself to a steady scape, but perhaps it wasn’t just the sudden flat land that was grounding him so completely. Sweeping his tongue over his bottom lip, he pulled his book back up, peeling the pages open to the spot he had been on in it previously. He peered over the top of it slightly as he walked, eyes flickering around to get a look at other students. ”Kjaftæði, “ he breathed under his breath, gaze zeroing in on a grey haired girl as she walked, a perfectly normal bag floating behind her. He turned slightly, looking behind him as to get back on the ship only to find the boat was already out at bay and making a speedy get away. F↿ck.

Pressing his nose into the binding of his book, Atlas turned back, watching with a drawn expression as other students, or so he assumed they were to be, make their own ways up and to more solid land. Most made beelines for the top of the hill, where the school sat in all its glory from what he could see. He didn’t particularly care to rush up, as he did have to carry his bags which were fairly heavy. So instead he wandered onto the land, lanky body carrying him as he began the trek up the hill, pages drawn away from his face as he scanned over the words, reading as he went. It would be better to wait for an explanation to what the Headmaster had planned rather than dwell much on what was going on.

              MOOD : curious / excited ! ██████LOCATION : docks - going to the school ! ██████COMPANY : just me, myself, and i !

              Sleepy ..

Ryou blankly stared out the cabin window at they sky. He felt so .. so tired. The rocking of the boat made him feel just sleepy enough that he could probably take a nice nap before he made it to shore. He yawned and stretched instead, deciding that sleeping would be much too boring to settle with. And he didn't want to do anything /boring/. At least .. not just yet.

Standing, Ryou made his way over to the cabin door and opened it, peeking his head out as he looked around him. " Ooooi ! " he called out, frowning a little as he recieved no immediate response. He stood by the door for at least a minute, just to see if anyone would come by. Of course, no such thing happened. He frowned. Did he really scare the ferry workers that badly earlier with his pranks and whatnot? He snorted.

              What a bunch of babies.

Stepping outside completely, he went over to the railing and leaned against it as he looked out to the water. He yawned again, still feeling sleepy from earlier. In Ryou's opinion, it was way, way too early to be taking some boat ride to some school on an island, of all places. Like seriously, what was up with that? Was there some sort of mysterious aspect about the school? Some unsolved disappearances or .. even murders? His eyes widened a bit in interest. Going to a place like that didn't sound so bad in his mind.

He'd definitely have to investigate once he arrived.

Much to his delight, land was quickly coming closer and he'd finally be on land in a few extra minutes or so. Excited, the kitsune scurried back into the cabin, grabbed his backpack and tugged it on before going over to his duffle and picking it up. As he finished, the ferry horn blew loud into the air, signaling another new arrival coming to the island. Trying not too seem /too/ excited for the new adventures to come, Ryou quickly stepped onto the dock and then turned, giving the ferry workers a cheeky grin as he waved bye to them. Worried and nervous that he was going to pull another prank, the ferry crew worked quickly to leave the dock as fast as they could - even going /faster/ than when they were bringing Ryou there. He snickered quietly to himself. " Baaaaka! " he said with a grin.

Facing back to the school, he looked around as he walked, his curiosity getting the best of him at all the different things he could see and sense from the other students that had arrived before him. It was .. exhilarating and overwhelming and -- No way .. - was that bag .. floating behind her ..? Ryou stopped in his tracks as a grey - haired girl made her way past him, completely entranced at the sight. He blinked once, twice, and finally three times before tilting his head to the side as he watched the floating bag, a myriad of questions popping up in his head as he slowly made his way up the hill - the same direction that a majority of the students seemed to be heading.

His stomach rumbled, matching the ebb and flow of the seas beneath him. With his breathing laboured, even more than it usually was, and his knees curled up into his chest, Piers' initial impression of the seas was forming to be far from stellar. Though the blue of the sky and the clarity of the rolling seas were sights he had never before seen, the sense of nausea and the pressure that built in his lungs left him no room soak in the scenery. He had been released from the hospital just two days prior to dock boarding, and the gas mask he had received still felt two sizes too tight, wrapped around his neck, but he wasn't about to risk taking it off. He could bare with it at least until he got inside , and then he could free his head from the tubes and buckles the wound tightly around it.

He wasn't gonna risk passing out again. Oh no, not after last time. Just thinking of it made Piers feel unsteady and weak. His first breath of fresh air... it was a memorable one, to say the least.

Breathing in sharply, Piers pulled himself up from off of the ground, and leaned over the railings that supported him. Over the horizon he could make out the rough forms of an island – his new home, at least for the coming semester – Lestava Academy. It made his stomach churn just to have his gaze set on it. At one time he had looked forward to the coming school year, but surface life had been far from what he expected. No, it hadn't been near as dazzling and comfortable as he had once hoped it to be. Now that he was going into this with his stomach flipping, and a list of allergies that reached almost as high as he did, it almost felt as if he had been shipped off for torture.

”I'm going to die now. I'm going to ******** die now.” he muttered to himself, gas mask turning his breathy words to shaky moans in the wind.

Now docking, his gut had knotted up worse then ever. The force of the resisting waters would have knocked him back if he had been any lighter, and pulling himself off the boat proved to be a difficult task. Inch by inch, he followed behind the other students that had rode alongside him. He hadn't bothered trying to make friends in his pathetic state of being, and their features were so foreign to him that it was intimidating, to say the least. Swollen lips, plump cheeks, and rosy complexions were all things new to him. Through word of mouth and quick web searches here and there, he learnt that these were telltale signs of a healthy human being, and desirable in mates, but healthy was something alien for him altogether. While everyone living in the underground was gray as an overcast day, he especially carried the traits of snow white. Albeit, he wasn't nearly as fair. Piers' skin was white as snow, and his lips bright red from nervous biting though. Traits he could be proud of if he weren't 6'3” and hairy. What would his classmates think of him? Did he stand out too much this way? Would it just be like school in the underground? All these thoughts and more ran rampant through his head.

Tucking his head down, he slouched closer to the ground and pulled up his hood in a vain attempt of evading excess attention. While many craved to stand out, Piers craved nothing more than normalcy. Still wobbly from the boat ride, he walked with a slight sway in his step, having to hold onto the railings to keep from falling over on his way off. When his feet finally hit the ground beneath him, Piers felt a sense of relief like no other and curled his toes inward, as if he could somehow feel the dirt from beneath his ratty old sneakers. The statuesque white gates were still menacing, but with solid land beneath his feet, Piers felt infinitely safer.

Just a few more... just a few more steps and then he could huddle up into the protective space that was his room. Taking in a shallow breathe, the shaggy haired teen took his first shaky step towards the Academy. The duffel bag slung over Piers shoulder swayed with each move he made, and he was almost certain that he was going to topple over from it's weight. Had it always been this heavy? No, aside from his laptop and medicine, all he was carrying were a few pieces of clothes. The school provided most of the necessities so he had packed light for his trip. It was just a case of the nerves. That's right, it was all a bad case of the nerves.

                              His stomach rumbled.

It was all a bad case of the nerves... and maybe just a little sea sickness. Falling to his knees, Piers ripped off his gas mask and pushed back his hair. ”Hup... blergh! Cak! Cak! Cak! Haa... haa...”

oo His muscles were taunt, dominant hand wrapped tightly around the banister of the boat. His body hung low in a diagonal angle, as he stretched out full wing span to feel the water splash against his skin. Earlier, Alexei had insisted that the boat just leave without him. It didn't make sense for a merman to stay out of the sea, and since leaving home, he had yearned to feel the pleasures of having his fins out and flexed. The captain, however, had demanded that all traveling students stay on their ships for 'security reasons' and the first half of the trip had proven to be a real challenge for the adolescence and crew. Multiple times he had tried stripping down to nothing and jumping into the water, but each time he'd be pulled back on to the ferry and forced back into his shorts. Eventually, when both opposing teams had tired of the constant game of cat and mouse, they opened up negotiations and decided that so long as his clothes stayed intact and he was at least touching the boat, he could get as close to the water as he wanted to. Really, a lost battle in Alexei's case. Lazy as ever though, he settled on feeling the sea breeze close against his skin.

Bending at the knees, he crouched down closer to the waves so that the tips of his fingers could just graze against them. The wind and water currents made for excellent surfing and swimming conditions. Alexei smiled to himself, happy that he had brought his board with him for the trip. He wasn't overly nervous or excited about said trip though. School was school, simple as that. Sure, Lestava promised him more of his kind, and the freedom of living free of hiding his identity, but in reality, he didn't care much for either of those things. Living amongst humans had suited him just fine, and if his older sister hadn't been so adamant about him getting out of the house, Alexei would've happily stayed home to watch the camellias bloom again. Of course, he didn't care enough to cry about leaving his flower garden either. The camellias would bloom with or without him, and the world would keep on spinning. School was simply getting in, laying down his stuff down, and that would be the end of that. There weren't a lot of things that Alexei cared about, and this certainly didn't make the top ten.

Interrupting his thoughts, ne of the crewmen shouted over at Alexei, a thumb lazily thrown over his shoulder towards the deck of the boat. “Hey, kid! We're about to dock so get back to the passenger area, ya' hear?!”

With a roll his eyes, Alexei swung the whole of his body inwards toward the boat. Before face planting into the side of the ship, the boy caught the railing with his free hand and pulled himself up and over them. Beads of sweat rolled down the nape of his neck, reflecting the sun off his hairless body. With brisk strides, he made it over towards the the passenger area and grabbed one of the complimentary towels, wiping down his skinny muscles. The sun was brighter here than it was back home, and while he usually adjusted quite fast, being out of the water didn't necessarily help him. Stretching out the crick in his neck, Alexei stared up at the fairytale like structure ahead. He scoffed, ”very gaudy.” It was so different from what he was used to, but he would deal with it all the same.

When the captain shot him a look to get off his ship, the golden eyed boy merely shrugged his shoulders and grabbed his luggage. Jeez, all this fuss just because he tried to jump off a few times? Surprisingly he had a lot of things. His guitar, which his father had just gifted him just days before boarding, his surfboard, and his favorite brand of board wax of course, plenty of clothing to lounge around in at the dorms, and other day to day necessities. This would be his home for a year, so he at least wanted to be comfortable. With his case slung over his shoulder, surfboard under one arm, and luggage in the other, it almost looked as if Alexei were drowning in a pool of his own possessions. Hell, if it wasn't for years of helping out with the family business, and lugging around his sister's amp and bass, he probably would be buried and drowned beneath the sea of material goods.

”Thanks for the ride~” he called back lazily as he departed from the ship, hands too full to wave a proper goodbye.

Getting off, the initial flood of students was initially shocking. His father never told him that there were so many other merfolk out there. However, once he got over his initial sense of awe and amazement, Alexei realized something was off. Something didn't smell right. There were a few students that shied away from the water, and there was one in particularly that was hunched over clutching his stomach. His odor it was... so... human. Others too, their scents were just far too different from his own to be anything near mermaid. Raising an eyebrow, he turned back towards the boat to ask if this was the right stop, but before he could say anything, the boat had left for port and he was left stranded. Swallowing hard, he looked around to see if anyone else had noticed the anomaly. No, others must have. There were other mythic races that had a sense of smell much greater than his own, and not everyone was human, he was sure.

Awkwardly scratching his head, Alexei breathed out a deep sigh of distress. Man, he really didn't want his flesh eaten. Why the hell did his dad think this was a good idea? It was too late now to leave though, and he didn't feel quite right walking further into land when there might be mermaid blood sucking monsters all around him. ”Maybe this will all make sense during the opening ceremonies...” he tried to reason with himself, best he could. Deciding that his only choice now was to head upwards towards the school building, as he couldn't possibly swim off with all this junk weighing him down, Alexei lifted his feet and casually strolled past the sickly human and further inland. He could regret things later, when he was hospitalized and at loss for an arm and telling his old man 'I told you so'.

OCATIONDocks // On her way to school OMPANYTau [ her familar ] OODNevous // Skeptcal

There are many things Zola would rather be doing at the very moment, the biggest is sitting in her corner at the library reading. But she would have to do with a second best, reading on the steadily rocking boat. Beside her a large black and white bird sat or rather stood on the edge of the boat pruning his feathers. “Aren't you excited about starting and all witch school?” the bird asked bringing his head up from his bored pruning. As she turned the page, Zola let out a low grunt, to let the bird know she wasn't very enthused. “Oh Zoo-Zoo come on, new experiences! And you'll get to learn more spells and magic!” It was all to obvious the familiar was trying to cheer up his master, but it wasn't working to well. “Tau, please stop. Thanks for trying to cheer me up though.” she said. Tau had been with her since she was ten when they made that pact that would make them familiar and master. And though she was relieved that her closest friend had accompanied her on this new part of her life, Zola was worried about her parents most of all. She was leaving right when they had decided to finally move out from with their fellow coven member and get a new home of their own. “I know your worried about your parents, but they'll be fine. After all your mother is one of the strongest witches I've ever seen!” Responding with another grunt, Zo gave up and closed the book she was reading with a sigh. “Yeah, but what if they come in when she's not paying attention, or if they go after dad.” she said the worst out comes, coming to mind as she began to worry. As they sat Zola could feel her Tau's feathered wing stretch out over her back and hold her in a hug. It was probably an odd sight, seeing a bird hug someone, but it did comfort her enough to let go of her negative thoughts.

Looking up she noticed the other girl on the boat, part of her wanted to get up and maybe do a reading for her but it looked like she was sleeping. With a bored sigh Zo stretched out and glanced over board, they were almost to the school. Zola couldn't help but feel a little excited when she saw the vast expanse of what would be her new home and school for a while. “So, where are you going to go to?” she had to ask since it had stated in her opening letter that no animals were allowed on campus. Tau shook his white head “I'll figure something out, there will probably be a nice place for me to roost. And I can hunt squirrels and other little things for me to eat.” This gave Zola a little more to be relieved about, she doubted she would be able to get through the school year with out her trusted companion and with that went back to her book.

A loud horn blared out as the ferry was about to dock. Zola jumped up from her seat like a scared cat at the noise, and grumbled a little about the out burst. Quickly she put her book back into her bag, and took out a bundle wrapped in a purple, gold and black cloth. Unwrapping the cloth revealed an ornate stack of cards with a clear crystal on top, taking off the crystal Zo closed her eyes and slid the first card from the top of the deck. Opening her eyes, she gazed upon the Wheel of Fortune. "Random occurrences at hand” she spoke the meaning out loud. To say the lest that wasn't something that she didn't want to hear. As the horn blared again signaling the ferries docking, Zola stood up and stretched. Grabbing her luggage and moving towards the school Zo turned to Tau “See you at the room” and began to hurry off of the ferry.

There seemed to be a lot of people all around her. And as Zola studied them she started to have a weird feeling about the people around her. 'All of these people are witches?' the thought seemed odd for some reason, shaking her head Zo ignored the feeling it was probably just the result of the one card reading bothering her. Glancing over she saw the girl from the ferry, her bags levitating behind her as she moved. 'That's a pretty good idea' Zo thought, but choose to just keep carrying the luggage at lest until she was tired.

Neither her or her parents had any background knowledge about what kind of place Lestava was, which worried Celestia immensely, but all her parents could think about was their daughter finally getting another view of the world from a perspective than what she was used to. The thought wasn't what bothered her. In fact, she wouldn't have minded that and would have accepted it from the start without any hesitation. Traveling the world, learning about new things, finally getting the opportunity to interact with more humans than a regular civilization would usually contain. What wasn't there to love about that idea? It was everything that Celestia wanted while growing up on the farm, and although majority of her feelings about that dream subsided within time, some of it remained inside of her, waiting for the right moment. However, to Celestia, this definitely wasn't the right moment. This wasn't where she wanted to be. She would have rather be back on the farmland, wasting each day away, studying as if that was the only thing left to do in the world. As much as she disliked the mere sight of text books because of that, that memory appealed more to her in this moment than arriving at a mysterious campus did. It was probably peculiar and wrong of her to think so lowly on the school before getting there, but she couldn't help it. If only she knew more about the facility then she wouldn't be in so much agony about going there. It was far too sketchy for her tastes. How could her parents be okay with such a thing? Were they not worried about their own daughter attending such a confidential campus? Did they just want Celestia out of the house already?

Regardless of their reasoning, it was too late to turn back and run home now. Celestia was already aboard the ferry with other humans. It wasn’t as crowded as she expected, but the lack of humans on this watercraft only made her start to wonder if the school’s student body would be a very small one that it would make the campus seem more like a ghost town rather than a place for education. It didn’t bother her that there could be small classes, but that just made her overall view of it all less interesting. Although, even though there were a small amount of people aboard, their appearances already sparked Celestia’s curiosity – specifically a tall boy who has his face covered with a charcoal gas mask. Part of her wanted to ask why he had one in the first place, but her frail lips remained closed by her shy hesitation. In the end, she settled for her own assumptions rather of asking him herself when she had the chance to. The courage to do so never managed to build up.

Slowly, her eyes shifted from inside the ship to the waves that were crashing against the ferry. It was her first time seeing the ocean, but she wasn’t as pleased by the view as what her parents had explained to her it’d be like. They seemed much more enthusiastic about it all than she was. And well, it was true. She wasn’t entirely disappointed by the ocean, but to her it wasn’t the something that lit a passionate fire inside of her. It wasn’t like the stars above the sky that everyone – no matter what race they were – shared and it wasn’t like the school that she was about to attend. It didn’t leave her wanting to know or experience more. She didn’t need to know about it. No, she simply just didn’t care enough for it like her parents did. If they were here, they’d probably be taking as much notes and pictures that they could handle. Maybe that was why Celestia didn’t get a kick by the sea, even though it was her first time witnessing it in person. The moment didn’t matter if there was no one to share it with.

Another negative feeling started to sink into Celestia’s heart. She could feel it lingering inside of her chest, making her feel uneasy as if she had motion sickness. It was gnawing at her heartstrings and even leaving an expression of longing in her eyes. The small frown on her face could be noticeable by anyone if they had looked at her in that moment, and for a second, she start to feel water begin to fill her eyes. She missed mother and father. She wanted to be home. She needed something right know that felt like home, but she was well aware that that wasn’t possible. Her home was far away now and the only thing she had to remember it was the red scarf her parents had gave her before her departure. It was soft and she could still feel the warmth of her mother’s hands on the scarf. She ran her hand over the scarf and gazed at it. Her cheeks started to flush with a light tint of red and her frown was steadily replaced with a smile and a light chuckle soft enough for only her to hear. It was warm and loving just like her mother’s hugs she received each day after school back in the civilization. Was this what they considered a mother’s compassion? It sure felt like it, and this was the part of home that she needed right now.

A sudden uproar of voices interrupted Celestia’s thoughts, causing her to shift her vision to focus on whatever the commotion was about. There it was – Lestava Academy. The boat wasn’t close enough to docking, but the silhouette of the island was in view. Majority of the students on board were chatting away in excitement while the unsettling anxiety started to build up inside of Celestia. She took a firm hold of the scarf, already wrapped around her neck, and pulled it up just enough to cover her mouth. She felt the butterflies in her stomach flutter rapidly enough to make her feel more nauseous than before. She starting wishing she had more time to prepare herself, both physically and mentally, but she knew now that whatever time she had left wasn’t enough. It was now or never, and she deeply wanted it to be never.

That when she heard the horn of the boat suddenly start going off – it was a loud and clear for the students to be signaled that it was time. They all finally arrived at Lestava Academy.

Exiting proved to be more trouble than she originally wanted. Not only did she decide on the plan to be the last one to get off after the rest of the students have, but even after they all had finally unloaded, Celestia still took her time getting off, causing one of the boat’s crew-mates to have to escort her off themselves. It was bothersome for both her and the sailor, who started mumbling a few rude comments under his breath as he walked away. She watched his back as he continued walking off until he disappeared around a corner. Soon after, the boat began to withdraw from the docks and made its way to sea once again.

With another extra moment wasted to take a deep breath in, the brunette turned on her heel, eyes immediately widening and mouth dropping in awe as she stared at the walk before her. She could see the top of the school far ahead, but to get there involved having to walk a huge hill. There was already a large amount of students making their way to the school’s gates, which resulted in Celestia quickly concluding it was time for her to hustle so she wouldn’t get left behind. Without making at least give steps into her walk, the teenage girl felt her leg get caught up on something – or rather, someone – causing her to fall over face-down, leaving her backpack to crush her back for a moment on impact.

                                                                              “S-Sorry! I wasn’t paying any atten–”
She began to speak out in a brittle voice, but stopped once she noticed the male that had caused her to fall over. It was the same male with the gas mask she had noticed earlier, however, this time there was no gas mask over his face. In fact, he looked like he was sick to his stomach. From the sound of it, that must have been what was wrong with him. ‘Motion sickness probably?’ She thought to herself, slowly reaching out a hand to help him, but then pulling back before he could notice her attempt to help him. Although she did feel bad for him and want to help him, she wasn't sure if that was the best choice to pick right now. One, she didn't even properly know the guy. Two, she wasn't sure if he was trustworthy. And three, that gas mask of his made it seem like he wanted to be alone. If that was true, then it’d probably be better to do so, right? And that’s what Celestia decided to do. “Ah–! Sorry, again!” She repeated her apology, giving him a light head bow while dusting off her clothes. Immediately after wards, Celestia got up and started to run off into the direct of the school, partly because she didn't want him to hold her back and partly because she didn't want to be late for anything that may require attendance today.

Within a few moments of running, Celestia came to a halt in her tracks once she got a few feet from the gates of the school. It was much grand than she imagined, but that wasn't what caught her completely off guard. The teachers that were waiting in front of the gates, and even some of the students already making their way through, there was nothing human about them. On her way up the hill, she did notice a silver-haired student whose luggage was floating behind her, but Celestia just assumed that she was seeing things from exhaustion. In reality, though, that was no delusion.

“Hey! You gonna stand there all day or enter like the rest of them, huh?” A demanding yet irritated voice called out to her. She noticed that it came from one of the deans that stood at the gates. He was tall and had an ominous vibe about him (something Celestia really, really didn't like). Unlike the other two, he wore a neatly-pressed suit and even though he dressed the most professional, the tattoos of flames that were highly distinctive on his neck could make anyone think so otherwise. Before the bewildered teenager could murmur a single word, he shoved a box into her arms and then gave her a devious smile – even flashing his non-human sharp fangs in the process – that sent shivers down her spine. “Welcome to Lestava Academy.”

Wondering into the school yard aimlessly, Celestia stopped once she reached a fountain in the center of the entire campus. Her body was frozen from the petrification and even her mouth felt too numb to open an inch. Even though her body was still, her mind went on like a movie on fast forward with more thoughts and even the realization about this school. No wonder the letter was so vague about information on the institute. This wasn't the school that was portrayed through the letter. This wasn't an academy just for humans like Celestia Mathis. And this definitely wasn't what Celestia has hoped for to happen while growing up. Yes, she did want to meet people and see new things, but the thought of ever coming across a being that wasn't one of her own was far from ever cutting across her mind. That was, until now.

After taking the time to observe the people getting off the boats, at the nearest docks, Claire felt a slight suspicion when taking their physical features and actions into account. A few of them seemed rather hesitant or nervous, and she questioned if a few were even witches. At the very least, she prayed no humans were present. Something felt off, she just couldn't put her finger on it yet. One thing was for sure, she had gotten a few odd looks when she exited the boat with her bag floating behind her, by means of her own magic. Two males had looked her way, but one had averted his gaze rather quickly as the other seemed to show more interest in whatever had caught his attention in the first place. Was there a rule she was unaware of against magic? It seemed silly for a school of witches to have rules against simple magic; but, just in case, she would have to consult the letter again.

With a snap of her fingers, the bag behind her unzipped itself and the letter that started the whole journey here floated out and into her hands. It was all she had regarding information to this school. There had been no additional information, none that she was aware of at least. Regardless, she didn't want to go breaking any rules before she even started. Sadly, even as her eyes scanned the letter not once, but twice, she found nothing. How odd. After finding nothing in the letter, she let out a sigh as it floated out of her hands and back into the bag. It looked as if she would have to consult the faculty about this, or at least wait until the opening ceremony if all else failed. Surely rules regarding any type of conduct within school grounds would be formally read by then. Until then, all she could do was find her away around.

Snapping out of her thoughts, she turned and noticed all of her luggage had been unloaded and the boat that carried her and another female here was already leaving the harbor. Well, that was rather fast. Was she suppose to tip them for their services? No, perhaps the school already took care of it. Though, having her travel on such a- common ferry, she really did question if this place had that kind of budget. Oh well, she was here, her luggage was all unloaded and stacked neatly with boxes- most likely belonging to other students near by. So really, worrying about such minor things seemed illogical now. This probably explained why everything had to be labeled according, as to who they belonged too, before it was loaded at the start of the trip.

Walking over to assess her own luggage, she opened up a large chest among them and took a peak inside, “Ah, thank goodness, not a single chip in any of them it seems. Splendid!” she said with a light smile on her face. Opening another chest (significantly bigger) beside the previous one, she pulled out a book and quickly flipped through a few pages. Not a single sign of moisture, “Perfect. Everything seems to have arrived in fine condition. What a relief.” added to her previous statement, quite pleased with how well her belongings had traveled. By the looks of it though, she would have to leave them here for now and wait for them to be delivered to the dorm rooms later- as they were much too big and too heavy for a small female like herself to carry. Even with magic, it would have been a chore.

With that in mind, she would only grab her larger suit case to bring along with the bag she already had. The suitcase had wheels on the bottom, so transporting it wasn't nearly as much as a pain as the other floating behind her. She wouldn't feel that weight on her back, and all she would have to do is pull it along. After gripping the handle of the larger suitcase, she paused for a moment to let out a yawn- lifting her free hand to cover her open mouth. Perhaps she should hurry along, she was already feeling tired again. Even after that long nap on the ferry, her magic was still trying to lull her back into sleep. She would have to put up her best efforts to ignore the urge until evening arrived.

Looking toward the hill, she already noticed quite a few students had gone on ahead of her, even the female she came here with. She never did get to speak with her much during the trip. She had either been too invested in her book, or fast asleep. Perhaps at a later time. Claire didn't necessarily feel there were much need to move too quickly. Some students were still unloading from other boats, and another seemed to be feeling a tad ill after his own boat ride. She had read many times about motion sickness and it's effects. The rushing female tripping over him didn't seem like it would make thing any better. While she shared the other female's opinion of feeling a little awkward at the thought of approaching him and offering to help, she did wish him well. Some proper medication and some rest would do him a world of good, now that he was on land. Oh how little she knew of anyone here. If she had been more aware, she might have not given him a second thought and rushed away out of her own fears. Humans always seemed quite frightening in all of the old stories.

Slowly but surely, Claire began making her way up the hill. It was a bit of a hassle to roll the suitcase upward, even with the wheels on the bottom; however, not having the other bag weighing her down proved to make a difference. So in the end, it wasn't too bad of a trek. If there really was something against using magic, perhaps getting scolded for one little bag might not be quite as bad as two. Besides, level ground wasn't the problem- it was the blasted hill. Once she had made it to the area a few faculty members were stationed, she stood at the back of the crowding students, waiting for her turn to do- well, whatever it is she was suppose to at this point. She didn't want to be rude and push her way forward, so she would allow others to go ahead of her before taking her turn

She noticed the girl, who had tripped over the sickly male, had already made her way to the front of the growing crowd. A faculty member had handed, or rather shoved, a box into her hands and sent her away. Ah, perhaps they were distributing some necessities? That would explain why they were stationed out here, besides to give a welcome to all of the new students. This was all so new to Claire, and even though a few things did strike her as a little suspicious, something felt appealing about this public education thing. Well, anything that involved more people always seemed interesting, as she had always spent most of her time alone or with the staff at home. Never had she been around this many people near her in age.

She waited patiently until it was her own turn to approach the desk. Once that time arrived, she approached. Placing one hand on the other, she positioned her arms to hang down in front of her in a proper manner. Trying to be polite, she gave a light nod to the faculty member before her. She was at a bit of a loss of what to say, but she didn't want to hold up the line. She kept it rather short, “Good day to you.” she greeted, waiting to be given whatever they were handing out. She was sure that faculty introductions would happen later.

After having a box practically dropped into her hands, and nearly dropping it with the method of hand off, Claire weaved her way out of the crowd. Once she was finally out in the open, she stopped and let out a light sigh, “Good heavens... Was there really any need to drop it like that...? I nearly dropped the whole thing. That would have been a bit embarrassing, I must admit...” she muttered to herself before looking up at the large gates, 'Quite impressive...' she thought to herself. The whole school building looked as if it quite possibly held a bit of history. It didn't look like the most modern facility she had seen, but it didn't bother her in the slightest. Her own home held a similar charm; and at the very least, it looked clean and well kept. How charming.

Before continuing on her way, she readjusted the box in her arms. It really wasn't all that heavy at all. Possibly the easiest thing she had lifted all day, besides the one book she had put away on the ferry. Once she had a good grip on the box, she made her way through the gates and eventually found herself happening upon a large area with a fountain. The landscaping here wasn't the most eye catching, but it was still lovely. She examined the fountain as she walked, admiring the details in it's frame. Eventually focusing her eyes forward she spotted the girl who had tripped a little earlier. Now, Claire wasn't exactly the most social person, but perhaps she could try and put some of the little progress she had made to practice. Stopping a small distance away from the other girl, she pondered as to exactly how she would approach. It wasn't a family business affair, nor was it any kind of party situation- where she was practically forced to greet guests. Perhaps she could just start with a simple greeting? Catherine, the girl's maid back home, normally greeted people with a welcoming smile. Perhaps she could reflect on Catherine's example and put her other social practices in play as well. Yes, that could work splendidly. As she came to that plan of approach she cleared her throat lightly, "Um..." she began softly, but not nearly loud enough to be heard by others.

The resemblance to Garai’s excitement is similar to a child first time to an amusement park. He’d never left the pyramid, nor had he ever seen an environment that wasn’t coated in sand. He couldn’t take his face off the window; his eyes examined every person, place, and thing. If the sphinx could have his way, he would jump out the window and talk to physically examine every living and non living thing. “…Garai” although he was with him, he wasn’t free to spaciously move around. He forgot his surroundings, he’d sat in the middle between his mother and father, he had pleaded for a window seat, but as always his father declined. What was he suppose to do when he saw a person walking what looked like a miniature lion? Not sit in his seat of course. Garai then arched himself across his father lap and glue his face to the window with fascination. “يرجى تتصرف نفسك، وهذا ليس عطلة انها لدراستك” he clarified, keeping the same apathetic expression on his face. It was likely he was upset; Garai mother had explained to him that his father hated the city; it made him uncomfortable since he wouldn’t know what to do if an event ever should break out.

“Yes father…” Garai muttered, moving himself back into his seat. He wished he could have the window seat; things were just getting exciting too. The sphinx gazed turned to the car windshield. He and his family were fortunate enough that Baba had a vehicle to drive them to the docks. A carriage camel could only take them so far and with the looks of things, people in the city didn’t ride with camels around. “الجيز، دعه يعيش قليلا” Baba suggested, looking briefly into the rearview mirror. His father only sucked his teeth in reply; “الآن الآن، دعونا مناقشة ما القضية الرئيسية لهذا اليوم” his mother cleared whatever tension that was in the air, although she stated a new conversation with rules. She placed her hand upon Garai shoulder and gave a comforting smile, “ونحن لن تكون هناك لمشاهدة لكم، ولكن كنت من العمر ما يكفي لمعرفة المتوقع قواعد سواء كنا هناك لمرافقة أم لا” she proclaimed.

Garai sighed in dissatisfaction; he knew this subject would come up sooner or later. He leaned back into his chair half listening to his mother’s word. Rule after rule she went on and on about why he was here and what they expected when he left the academy. Although, for once in the sphinx lifetime, he didn’t really care about what his parents were saying. Yes, he understood that he should still have his manners and respect, but just this once he was excited to finally be leaving the pyramid and visually seeing the citizens of numerous races surrounding him. Instead of dreaming, he was now able to visually see what an angel looked like, or a fairy, or those creatures that swam and lived under the sea that weren’t fishes.

It hadn't taken a while for them to arrive to the docks, it was Garai's first time seeing a large oasis of water, and he'd jumped over his father and ran close to the shore. “Fishes that aren't actually fish live in the sea” he mumbled, “Baba how can you tell which is which!” he questioned, crouching down closer to the large body of water. Although before he could even get to touch it, his father grabbed him by the hem of his shirt and pulled him away from the edge. “كيف تبدو إذا كنت يغرق في اليوم الأول!” he yelled, his mother was right about his father and being outside. He now showed some real emotion instead of that stone cold face. He nodded and moved away from the edge, “هذا هو عليه، هل أنت مستعد لا أكثر الأم أو أبي إنها مجرد أنت والعالم” Baba chimed in. That's right, once he went on the ship there wouldn't be anyone to hold him back or correct his mistakes. Nodding a yes, he assured himself that this was a big test. To finally test himself and show his parents that he could do something right by himself. Although of course it would perfection takes time.

Garai had lost his focus and ran towards the boarding passengers, they didn't smell like sphinx, nor look like anyone he knew. Glancing back he stared at his mother “Are these..?” he questioned, his mother only shrugged and smiled “من يدري” she replied, “إذا كنت محظوظا بما فيه الكفاية ربما سوف تجد أبو الهول آخر على متن الطائرة” she whispered “انه قد تعلم بعض الأشياء عن الألغاز من شخص في الفئة العمرية له” his father added. That didn't really answer his question, but meeting another sphinx wouldn't make the trip to the school as awkward. “تأتي جاراي على القارب وترك” Baba interrupted, carrying Garai bags on his shoulder. “دعونا تحصل على هناك” he requested, nodding in reply Garai took the bags from the Anubis and slowly walked unto the boat. This would be the last time he would see his parents, yeah he'll have access to call them, although that wouldn't be the same to actually interacting with them. He walked up to the boat and made his way to the edge staring at his parents. “نتذكر نحن نحبك!” his mother shouted, waving. Garai opened his mouth, grinning from ear to ear he waved back and leaned closer on the edge “Me too~! Bye Mama, Papa, and Baba don't forget about me. I'll be back right before you know it” he assured giggling at the end; he waved goodbye until he couldn't see his parents anymore and leaned back into the boat. There were several people on the boat he should make sure that he at least make one friend.

                                                      TIME★SKIP

The trip was long, but Garai had made friends with one of the passengers. “Really kid being a fishermen isn't all that interesting” the man objected, but it was a different reaction to Garai. His eyes were bright with curiosity. He'd found the human sitting by himself gazing out into the sea. Garai had questioned him what exactly he was looking at, and from there Garai was amazed. At home all they ever ate was salmon or dry fish as a quick snack, but the fisherman here fished fish, sharks, octopus, and just about everything that could be caught with his hook. “N-no way!” Garai exclaimed, “You've seen a creature with more than four limbs...an octo-“ “ Octopus” the human corrected, chucking to himself he'd gotten up and dusted his pants “Well, come on kid were here.” Garai looked up and saw that there was no longer an abyss of water; instead he was greeted by a towering island. His eyes widen and his mouth gawked open, he was speechless – for once – his mouth couldn't translation the numerous of sentences his brain created. Instead, he pointed franticly. He'd grabbed his belongings and quickly follows the fisherman exciting the boat “thank you!” Garai thanked, waving at the crewmen who came out.

Excitedly departing the ship, he waved goodbye to the fisherman parting his ways and gazed up at the school. It was almost as big as the pyramid. “What am I the more you take the more you leave behind~” he sang happily memorizing a couple of the rriddles who mother made him repeat on the trip; he sang the riddle out-loud skipping towards the academy. “I am foot-steps~”

The world was spinning, sounds became muffled, and every aroma smelled horrible. Seraphine of Greece felt utterly, and truly horrid! It was a catastrophe, a drakon! A drakon out of all cases was sea sick! Especially a drakaina and a drac mix, just what in damned nation was this?! A warm hand stroked the back of Seraphine Argyris as her breakfast contents came up from her stomach, out of her mouth, and into the waves of the sea. The main reason why she was “throwing up”, as most humans called it, was because of the horrible odor of the engine, humans, and human made objects, and because drakon races do not belong on boats, they belong up in the sky or down in the water or lava. Seraphine stared down at the water, seeing her contents mix in with the waves below, it was strange that she wasn’t in the water, or up above flying, but the captain of the boat had said that everyone was to stay on the ship for ‘safety precautions’. As her stomach had settled down for a bit, she looked back at the person who was patting her back, and soothing her. Zephyr Dimitriou was standing and acting like a true soul sister, but hell they weren’t sisters, they were cousins but that didn’t change anything, they were closer to each other than to their own siblings.

”What would I do without you, Zeph?”
Seraphine whispered, it was difficult to talk as her stomach acid seemed to have stayed in her throat. There was no way in hell that she was leaving the edge of the boat, she may puke again.

Seraphine had woken up early in the morning, even before sunrise, to finish packing; today was the day that she was going to Lestava Academy! This academy held all the drakon races! The first day that letter arrived, Sera was excited, never before had she seen or even heard of many drakon races together in an area, it was unbelievable, so of course, her first response was yes, and here she was on the boat, heading to the academy of dreams, as she liked to call it for now. Earlier today, at around 6-7 am, Zephry had come to Seraphine’s home, and the two then headed to the dock where the boat would be waiting for them. Since then, the two had been on the boat heading to the private island that held the school. Before getting on the boat, Sera had been excited, jumping up and down, but now that she had gotten onto the boat and the pungent smell of human material lingered.

”I think I see the dock in the distance. Look.”
The soothing pitch voice of Zephyr was welcoming, as she seemed to be looking off in the distant.

The weak female tried to look where her cousin was looking, but her eye sight was all dizzy and fuzzy that she couldn’t see anything. This human boat was definitely not her thing, and with that, Sera had decided to never ever get on a human boat again. She’d rather just swim and/or fly around. The thought of flying made her look up at the open sky that seemed to be longing for her. She missed the feeling of the wind caressing her wings as she shaped the air to her bidding for an easier flight. Seraphine also missed her parents at the moment, and even her annoying siblings. It was fun to welcome them home whenever they came, and she kept on thinking about who would take care of the house while everyone was out hunting or flying. Normally taking care of their territory was her job, mainly as a way to stay away from humans. Yes, she hated humans with a passion, yeah sure, they helped her with her studies, but as her brain worked better than there’s and she grew smarter, she started to hate being around humans.

Seraphine brought her arms up and stuck them out horizontally, as the boat kept going. The feeling of the air surrounding her made her feel great, instantly she felt her light body begin to be lifted by the wind and she laughed. That was when she felt a tug by her cousin, and Sera snapped open her eyes and her feet once again touched the ship board.

”Once again, it is a rule for you to keep your feet on this boat, there is no flying away.”
Zeph stated; it seemed that without Zeph, Sera would be all over the place doing whatever she wanted. Without her dear, beloved cousin, Seraphine might have been at a loss and done something terribly and horribly wrong.

Other vessels seemed to be pulling into a dock that was slowly becoming larger as Seraphines’ own vessel approached. Her seasickness seemed to become less and less as the thought of land bounced around in her head. The boat gave out a long and loud ‘honk’ noise. Her sensitive ears felt like bursting, shouldn’t the boat have made the horn quieter, knowing that the island would be made of other drakon races? As far as she knew, all drakon’s had very sensitive ears, which were normally used for hunting. Seraphine tripped and slightly lost her balance when the boat swayed as it hit the side of the dock and bounced a bit. Seeing that the boat was now docked, and the vessels’ ’door’, or whatever you called it, was about to be opened, Sera quickly grabbed all her bags and then grabbed Zephyr’s hands and ran to the door. The two were the first ones out, and as they were out, Sera stumbled down the little board that connected the ship and the dock, to allow the passengers an easy access down. As soon as her feet touched the island grounds, she felt a strange presence. It was not one that she enjoyed, and it felt…..strange. It was not just one, but many different presences that she had never seen before. How strange. As she attempted to take a step, her feet wobbled and she fell on her knees, how completely and utterly embarrassing.

                                              ”Ouchie.”
She complained, but tears did not swell up in her eyes from the pain, instead she grabbed her cousin’s welcoming hand, and stood up, then proceeded to wipe off all the dust and dirt off of her dress. As she did so, she looked at her knee’s and saw that they were scratched up and slightly bleeding, though she thought nothing of it because drakon’s tended to heal very fast. So all that blood would stop within a minute, and the scratches would disappear within twenty or so minutes, especially since it wasn’t anything major.

The gates of Lestava seemed to be getting closer as Seraphine and her cousin walked closer. But as they did, Sera began to see strange things around her; everything around her seemed to be different than she was accustomed to. As the two arrived at the gate, there were teachers passing out boxes. When the two drakon females walked passed the gate, a box was given to her, well….not given more like shoved into her arms. The person who gave it to her seemed to be a teacher, he had sharp fang like teeth, this was normal for some drakon’s. So she thought nothing of it, and instead, this teacher was rather cute. Seraphine smiled at him, and thanked him. In return he welcomed her to Lestava, and that was it. With that, she continued on her way deeper into the academy, allowing the other people behind her to come through. Seraphine followed Zeph as the two came to a large fountain, and there they stopped and set down their bags and sat down on the fountain edge.

”This school is huge! Just look at this! For once we’ll get to be around all types of drakon’s!”
Seraphine exclaimed, as she looked around trying to take in anything and everything that would be her home for this next year.

”These are all the types of drakon’s, look at all them! Everyone looks so different, and they all seem to have different powers. I didn’t know that was possible for our kind. This is amazing!”
She smiled, and looked at her cousin, and then looked away thinking of what this wonderful school has to offer.

With that in mind, the blue haired female opened the box that was given to her and looked at the contents. Inside seemed to be a winter and summer school uniforms, information booklets such as school rules, student code of conduct, and then a small stack of paperwork that she had to fill in and turn in somewhere later. At the bottom of everything there was a cute little gold bracelet.

”Awe! How cute! Look at this!”
She exclaimed with a smile as she grabbed the bracelet and put it on, instantly she felt a pain in her stomach and she felt weaker.

”I probably have homesickness, or jet lag, or my seasickness still hasn’t worn off.”
Sera thought, and then examined the bracelet, it seemed to be some kind of identification bracelet, and with that she took out a paper that was under it and read the paper. The paper stated that the golden bracelet was a student identification bracelet, that was required to be worn at all times by all students. With nothing more in her thoughts, Sera put everything back into the box, but kept the bracelet on since it was so cute.

                                                  • With daylight seeping through curtain cracks into his cabin, Emery woke up to a pounding head. It was a restless burn that left him motionless for a moment after he’d sat up in his bed, his sheets pooling at his hips as he massaged his temples. The constant rocking motion of the ship had made him terribly seasick, but it was also just the fact that he’d never been in his human form for such a long time consecutively that gave him a migraine. It’s been more than ten hours of traveling already, meaning ten hours of swaying back and forth in his temporary human form. Whoever designed the ship wasn’t very accommodating of his race. Not only could his bed barely fit him as a human, the cabin he was assigned to wasn’t suitable for a Unicorn his size (and he was a smaller frame too). Emery could only imagine the massive cramps he would’ve gotten all over if he’d chosen to stay a horse for the duration of the ride.

But he didn’t want to stay in his tiny room and wallow in self-pity, especially since his seasickness was finally alleviating. Deciding that he should probably go catch some fresh air for a change of mood, he found himself on the deck of the ship in no time. It wasn’t particularly lavish, but considering that he’d come from a small remote town and resided in a cottage of all places, anything with even the barest ornaments was something fresh for him. But his gaze went far beyond the ship, enjoying the magnificent view of the vast sea that stretched for miles and miles ahead of him. There was a silhouette in the distance and he could only assume that was the island (or was it an archipelago?) he’d be staying on for the next four years.

The thought was thrilling but also equally intimidating.

Peeling his fixed stare away from the gleaming horizon and taking a rushed glance around, he immediately noticed the growing crowd behind him. There weren’t too many of them and they were all his kin, but he still felt the pressure of socializing. He didn’t know if they’d spent their lives in near isolation, but he certainly didn’t think he’d be able to cope with the influx of Unicorns around him. He could only wonder how many more he’d meet once he set foot on the island. For the time being though, he really only wanted to take in the sight accompanied with gentle breezes infused with the smell of seawater. It was his first time ever at sea and he couldn’t help but wonder if his parents had ever had this experience too. For a moment, the young Unicorn worried about them back in Luxembourg. They sent him to Lestava to protect him but that didn’t make them any safer as far as he was aware. Moreover, they were so encouraging of his enrollment that he couldn’t bring himself to worm his way out of it.

With the islands inching closer however, his thoughts were interrupted by the increasing mutters of wonder and awe as more begin to gather around him at the very front of the deck where they could see their new home the clearest. As though out of instinct, Emery instantly shied away from them, backing away until he could feel his personal space bubble again. From over and around their shoulders, he could still see fuzzy shapes across the island. The most prominent proudly stood in the middle of it all. If anything, even from afar he was sure it was probably the most imposing structure he’d seen yet. Was it a castle? Because it certainly looked like one. If anything, it vaguely reminded him of some fairytale palace (or if he squinted, he could see a little bit of Hogwarts in there). As daunted as he was from this unfamiliar pace he was going at, he surprised himself with his almost uncharacteristic optimism reassuring him that he was going to be fine.

His anticipation was at its boiling point by the time he stepped off the ship. Had he taken the time to look behind him, he would’ve noticed the couple other boats anchored at the docks; he would’ve noticed that neither of them were carrying Unicorns like he was expecting. But with his headache gradually coming back to taunt him, he was too out of it to realize that anything off even from the buzz happening behind him. Although still slightly unsteady from hours of rocking back and forth, he pulled himself together just enough to slip away from everyone else.

In retrospect, separating from his kin was probably a terrible idea.

Not even after five minutes of loitering (into the general direction of the main campus), he came across something that shouldn’t have been on the island at all. Humans; a group of humans, and there was no mistaking it. Suppressing his urge to simply run for it, the Unicorn instead stood firm behind a brick arch and watched as the humans ambled around much like him. They thankfully hadn’t spotted him and he was intent on keeping it that way at least for the time being. He couldn’t fool himself into thinking that they weren’t students, which then led him to the incessant thought that there was something Lestava omitted when introducing him to the school. And with something as prevalent as merging Unicorns and humans onto shared grounds, it could’ve only been on purpose. All of a sudden, his next four years here didn’t look so bright anymore. What was the point if he was just coming back to the very race he was trying so hard to avoid?

As though on cue (as though something was out to prove him wrong), the next figure he spotted making its way down the paved road seemed neither human or Unicorn. A sprite? He wondered as everything started clicking together.

Slowly edging out of hiding, he would’ve gone back on his way to the main gates had he not crashed into someone right as he stepped into the arch. Whoever it was, he wasn’t Unicorn. So before Emery even saw the guy properly, he was recoiling.

“…I’m sorry, excuse me,” he murmured just loud enough for the other as his downcast eyes tentatively traveled up, hoping that the apology was enough and that he could be on his way soon. But when blue met amber, Emery gaped like a fish out of water. He’d only ever heard stories from his parents, stories about how Angels would look out for humans and how because he kept minimal contact with humans, chances were that he might not have ever gotten the chance to personally meet one. Yet here he was, staring at an Angel. He was in every way what Emery had imagined of an Angel. Now that he’d calmed down a little, he could also smell a faint but distinct aroma radiating from the God that only further awed the Unicorn

But socializing was never his forte and it still wasn’t so Emery could only shift his eyes around as a pregnant pause ensued between them.

              MOOD : siiiick ughhhh ! ██████LOCATION : in the courtyard ! ██████PARTY : just me, myself, and i !

              Nn .. so many!

He couldn't help but scrunch up his nose some as he made his way up the hill, the scents of the other students and the new environment were going to drive him up the wall if he didn't get a chance to check things out soon. He was so curious! Who were these people? What were they? Why was that girl with the scarf -- Oh, definitely human. -- he quickly determined as he managed to get a whiff of her as she passed by him -- rushing to get to the gates? Was something supposed to happen that wasn't specified in the letter? He turned back to the dock to watch the remaining students, eyebrows raising as he spotted someone doubled over on the ground -- Is that a mask? Why does he have? What's it for? And why is he on the ground? Is he sick? Is he praying? -- and then his gaze slid over to darker skinned person who smelled strongly of books with a bit of an earthy undertone as she strolled off one of the ships. He shivered some in anticipation. Calm down, calm down. You'll have the entire year to check things out.

With a sigh, he continued his trek up the hill, only to come to a stop once he finally arrived at the gates, nearly dropping his duffle bag in his surprise at the enormously elegant building that was further in the distance. Once he was through the main gates, he went off to the side and exclaimed in awe at how truly massive the campus seemed. This courtyard is huge!

" Hey, you there! " a irritated sounded voice called out to him, but he ignored it as he continued to marvel at the campus he would be attending for a while. It was a little hard for Ryou to come to terms with, especially since he had received a letter of invitation from /this/ school in particular. If he were to be honest, he thought he was just gonna be going to some dinky little private school full of other kitsunes in some area of the world that he briefly heard about in one of his classes back in his first year of high school, but .. ' dinky ' was definitely a word that didn't come close to describing this school.

" Oi, brat! Are you seriously ignoring me? " the voice said, sounding as if it was coming closer, but Ryou didn't care. Before he could take another step onto the campus, he felt a highly irritated and dangerous aura closing in on him. Looking over to the source of such an overwhelming aura, Ryou's eyes widened at the man who came to a stop a few feet from him. Ryou shifted uneasily. " U - uhh .. "

The man scoffed and crossed his arms, and if the irritated glare wasn't enough to intimidate the young kitsune, the sharp - toothed snarl and the flame tattoos on his neck surely did the trick. Cautiously, Ryou edged his way away from him. He didn't dare take his eyes off the man, not even for a second. It was too big of a risk. But what suddenly caused the man to come after him? Did he already do something he wasn't supposed to? All he did was go through the gates! Swallowing, Ryou couldn't shake the gut feeling of danger danger get away quickly and he vaguely wondered if this man would be one of his teachers. Almost as if reading his thoughts, the tattooed man smirked, showing off his sharp teeth, and snapped his jaw at him, earning a very undignified yelp from the kitsune.

              " Ah, Ryou! Ryou ~ ! "

At hearing his name being called, Ryou had precisely three and a half seconds to look for the source of the voice before his senses were overwhelmed with bright colors and a familiar scent enveloping him in a hug. He grinned instantly. " Auntie Natsume! " Without a moment of hesitation, he hugged her back, laughing some as she started to nuzzle his hair. " Uwaaah, you're finally here! I've been waiting anxiously for so long, I think I've irritated some of the staff with how much I've talked about you. " she giggled as she pulled away just enough to look at him. " Oh, you've grown some since I saw you last, haven't you? If this keeps up, you'll be taller than your father! " she said with a grin, gently squishing his cheeks a few times.

He pulled away with an embarrassed huff. " D - Don't do that! It's embarrassing .. " he muttered, rubbing his slightly red and abused cheeks as he looked away. Natsume laughed. " Oh, I apologize! You're probably going for a certain image for this school year, ne ~ ? " she smirked a little as she reached out and petted his head lightly. " T - That's not true! I just .. just .. " he trailed off as he stepped closer to her, a content smile slowly appearing on his face as he hummed softly. " Mmh .. this isn't fair .. using this against me .. " he murmured as he leaned into her touch, closed his eyes and started to purr, of all things. He should have felt embarrassed to have succumbed so easily, but he couldn't help it because it felt so great and Natsume knew how much he loved to be petted just like this.

She giggled. " Ahh, you never change, Ryou. ~ " she said with a grin before gasping a minute later, her hand stilling in his hair. " Ah, your ears! They started to show! " she said before pulling away. Ryou grumbled softly in disappointment at the petting session stopping so soon, and he frowned at her, eyes opening as his ears laid flat against his head. " Ne .. what's so wrong with my ears showing? At the dinner, you said there would be other kitsunes here, so what's the big deal? " he asked as he watched her go over to a stack of boxes, picked one up and brought it over to him before she opened it up and rummaged through it. As she did this, he started thinking. Why would a human girl be at a school that had kitsunes in it? Maybe it was a part - human, part - kitsune school? He hummed lightly. That didn't already much sense, but .. he didn't know what else to think.

The whole time Ryou was thinking about what the hell was going on with his school, Natsume found and pulled out a bracelet that was packed inside the box. Standing, she stood in front of him and gently grabbed his wrist, and before he could ask what she was doing, she slipped the bracelet on his wrist and then placed both of her hands on his shoulders, watching him with a concerned expression. " Ryou .. how do you feel? Are you okay? "

He frowned some. " What are y -- " he yawned mid - sentence and swayed a little on his feet, the effects of the bracelet already kicking in. He felt dizzy and tired all of a sudden, and he barely had time to register the fact that everything had suddenly became a lot more duller and muted, and he could barely make out the other students scents. He clutched his head and groaned softly. " Auntie, I .. I don't feel so good anymore .. " he mumbled softly. She smiled sympathetically at him and helped him take a seat on the ground. " It's okay, it's okay. ~ Maybe you're tired from the boat ride here? Just sit here for a while, and when you feel better, you can get up and walk around, okay? I have to get back to work. "

He nodded numbly as she left to join the other teachers who were handing out things by the front gates. He shifted as he crossed his legs and groaned again. Ugh .. now his stomach was starting to hurt, and he hoped that wasn't going to end in him throwing up. With a sigh, he pulled the box his aunt left closer to him and then put his duffle bag in his lap before resting his arms on it. Since he wasn't feeling well enough to walk around and explore, the least he could do was a bit of people watching as more students started to file into the courtyard.

: THEWENDIGO

With no idea of how much time had passed, Lana had committed to avoiding the other beings on the vessel. The idea and current situation of being surrounded by her own kind caused her stomach to curl with unease and her memories to shock her with a blur of past and most unpleasant times. Howbeit, most of all she was in wonder of all these others… she hadn’t any idea that there were even this many wendigos to be found. Considering they weren’t the most large or popular race in the world and on top of that they were usually only found in North America, so it was odd to have so many come from one place. With all of them on board she was amazed that no fights had broken out or that none of them had shifted to their natural and quite unappealing form.

She herself was struggling with it, her body wished to escape the confines of having such a hideous human form on. Her’s had never fit with her personality, her sadistic nature did not fit the form of a sweet schoolgirl and yet it seemed to be the skin which was most comfortable. Though it still caused her temples to throb over the concentration of not shifting; since she’d been homeschool she more often than not remained in her true form which allowed her some natural comfort.

Currently she stood on the deck, her miniscule fingers gripping the rail as she peered over into the depths which only added to her unease since it was assumedly filled with salt, which would torture her to no end. Pretty nasty and painful for wendigos. And even as a sadomasochist that pain was far too great for even her to handle which was saying quite a lot. It seemed that by now all Lana was filled with, was worry because all of her fears and lacks were bubbling to the surface. Of course she shoved them down and kept on that poker face she knew so well. To calm her nerves she simply thought of hunting back home. The feeling or more so the thrill of watching the life drain from the eyes of a being soothed her panicked mind. Watching such an intense energy disappear from something always interested her since she wondered where it went. Energies as strong and large as those of living things couldn’t just disappear. So where did they go? Her favourite mind-boggling question that she could never find the answer to.

And as that universal question tugged at her mind she stared off into the distance where an island came into view, well it was more of a shape but she couldn’t make it out as a piece of land with no trouble. What else could it have been anyway. Nothing. Exactly.

As the ship began to dock she made her way to the other passengers, carrying her bag along with her. She’d brought only the necessities so not much. She remained in file with the other students before recalling that she had to be the opposite of herself and so a cheery smile was placed on her lips, she’d practiced it a thousand times and by now it looked real even though it burned her cheeks. She would appear as a happy student when in reality she wished to simply eradicate the rest of the student body; too bad that wasn’t an option.

Her eye slid over the crowd of students, searching for someone approachable. Her right eye as usual remained covered by the eye patch which hid its awkward color. She detested having mismatched eyes; it was like someone walking around with one white sock and a bright pink one. Wrong and distasteful. However she supposed that matched her personality pretty well so perhaps that’s why she’d been cursed with them.

The gates of the academy grew more clear, and unlike the other students who seemed to be rushing she took her time approaching the line since she wanted to take the free time to observe her fellow student body along with the faculty. One thing was confusing to her though, the smell. It didn’t smell like her kind, she smelled…a ton of different things including human. But she didn’t ask questions. As she approached the front of the line she had a box placed in her hands, it didn’t happen to be heavy however it was awkward to carry. Feeling something touch her arm she pulled away before realizing that it was just a bracelet. She smiled apologetically at the woman. “Oops my bad, sorry.” Giving a low giggle she extended her arm to her and observed as it was clipped on. The thing obviously for identification. However for a moment she swore she felt woozy or weak as if something had been drained from her, but like anyone would she waved it off as being too tired from the long ship ride. To bring herself back she gave a few quick blinks along with a shake of her head before continuing forwards toward the school.

As she strolled past she noticed a boy sitting down, looking a little sick. She had to be nice right? So think like a sweet little b***h right? The logic made sense to her. She turned, giving her head a tilt while she approached him, crouching down with her knees together, a proper posture for someone wearing a skirt. Since she wasn’t too keen on the idea of someone accidentally getting a glance at her panties. Being so small, she found herself barely higher than him even with her having the posture advantage. “You look a little rough. Are you alright?” She gave a small smile, one that reflected nothing but innocence. She was happy now that she’d spent all this time perfecting her act. She added on the head tilt of course, a look of worry clouding her eyes. She was sure that by now she deserved a reward for all this crap. It was all worth it though, all of it. And it was practically impossible for anyone to see through her lies.

She could've clung to the leg of her foster father, wept openly at the prospect of leaving her replacement family behind. But she didn't. She didn't throw one of her typical fits or burst into a tantrum the moment she set eyes on the ship. In truth, if she had succumbed to the desire to weep, her tears would be more for her poor estranged cat, Fifi. Bernadette truly loved that beast of a cat and could not be away from her for more than a month. When her foster father caught glimpse of the glassiness in her eyes the morning before her departure, he instantly snapped into 'stop the floodgates' mode. For some reason, he hated when his orphan daughter cried. He did everything to evade it. He was convinced that her tears stemmed from some memory she's pushed into the back of her head; when questioned about her biological mother or father she'd usually begin crying to flee from any inquiries. But he should've seen the signs. Bernadette cries when the printer runs out of ink, she cries when she stubs her toe, she cries when her phone runs out of battery, and she cries at the end of books and movies despite them not even being sad. She only cries because its the only mechanism she can fall back on, the only device that works to get her way. A surefire way of manipulating people. People always listen to her, they always try to remedy her puffy red eyes as if she were a petulant child. Her father, knowing that she'd have a hard time adapting to a new place, shoved Fifi into a cat carrier in the morning and added her onto her pile of luggage. Her tears were the death knell of his resolve. The gesture helped quell the tears that were already on a path down her face, and she gave a smile that always made him smile in return. Even when he was mad at her, he returned the expression. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't keep being mad at her. She cloaked the cat carrier in one of her favorite blankets. It was enough of a disguise for the security guards to not stop her. As she boards the ship, the only thought teasing her mind is that if her foster father knew all of the horrible things that bloomed in her mind, he'd be the one in tears. She didn't care much as he waved goodbye to her, as he kept that smile woven like a slender whip. She was ungrateful, even when he gave her money and a roof to sleep under, she did not consider him her father. He was simply Rory in her eyes. She was a different branch grafted onto a different family tree, because her own had been mercilessly cut down by his kind. Bernadette feels weak at the knees. She smiles back. But doesn't mean it.

The interior of the ferry was something to be gaped at. She felt like a queen, but where is her crown? Hopefully handed to her at her destination, because her controlling nature wouldn't be satiated if she didn't get an upper hand at the academy. She plopped down on her bed, letting her head lull to face the covered cat carrier. She hoped that her roommate isn't a tattle and tells someone that she's harboring a fugitive. Miss Fifi might as well be a fugitive; she's killed so many of her other pets that she's practically a serial killer. Bernadette tossed the blanket off of the front of the carrier, whispering 'Don't be too loud, Miss Fi' as she undid the lock on the front. Fifi didn't obey, ever. She began to bat gently at Bernadette's hands as she attempted to free her critter, and made soft mewling noises from behind the bars. The whitening of her knuckles showed that she was struggling to unlatch it, and the irritation evident on her expression showed that the soft mews of Fifi were beginning to get on her nerves. When it finally gave, she [lightly] pushed Fifi, as if to chastise her for being impertinent. The cat just gave a disgruntled hiss, before perching herself on Bernadette's lap. Bad, bad kitty, she repeated like a mantra, patting her tail with her hand. Deep down, she's glad that Fifi came along with her. Even if the Academy tries to take her baby away. Cuz if they do, she'll absolutely flip her lid and sic her foster family on the staff. Fifi is her anchor. Her only friend in this dark, cold world. A light in the dark, as the cliche saying goes. Like a child, her attention flits away quickly, escaping from the embittering thoughts. The boat doesn't rock like she expected it to. She's grateful. Getting seasick would be the worst.

The ride is really frikkin' long! Probably should've expected that, but the fact remains that her impatience inevitably will drive her stir crazy. She spends hours running around her cabin in circles, jumping on her bed, and looking out her porthole of a window. She doesn't appreciate the little things of life. It's an insignia of her childishness. Most people would be content with how she's been situated; they could pull out a book or occupy themselves with some activity until the ride is over. Bernadette, however, needs stimulation from another being in order to enjoy herself. Fifi is enough for roughly an hour. She plays hide-and-seek in her cabin, then plays with her with her cat toys, then takes a quick nap with her. But this wears thin. It loses its freshness and she begins to find all kinds of stuff to mess around with. One moment she's chasing Fifi around the cabin, the next she's trying to still herself enough to draw, then the next she's trying to do her hair. She pivots from one activity to the next, trying to make the most of her situation. She hates being bored. It's the bane of her existence. She lives by the saying "if you're bored, you must be a boring person" and being dubbed a boring person would be like shooting her in the knee. Speaking of knees, the food on the ferry is the bee's knees! They serve her some weird yellow sauce on an egg [she has to put Fifi back in her carrier when the server comes, and cough in time with her mews to cover her presence up], and it's probably the best food stuffs that she's ever laid her taste buds on. She feels pampered by the time she finishes the meal, and absolutely stuffed. So she works off the food by exiting her cabin and doing a run around on the poop deck [berna giggles in the distance] before going back to her cabin. One quick sleep and a ferry horn stirs her from slumber. It's the signal that they've reached their destination.

Bernadette snaps up from her position, taking Fifi in her arms and kissing her on her wet nose. It's time! Time to establish who is who in these parts. Bernadette's the queen, and now she needs to find her royal court. She gives Fifi one last thorough pet before urging her back into her cat carrier. Fifi doesn't look amused when she pulls the curtain over the front of her carrier. She can hardly contain herself. She even begins to pace in her cabin as they dock, and has a little pep in her step as she wheels her carry-on towards the ramp. Fifi lets out peeved meows as she carries her, but Bernadette is on cloud nine. She effectively ignores Fifi's princess nature and turns to a staff, smiling widely.

"I need the rest of my luggage, but I can't carry it out here. Could you be a dear and get it?"

The man quirks his head, almost looking grouchy for a second, but quickly splatters a layer of saccharine over his expression. He's already condescending to her. She's aware of it, but begins to sway a bit impatiently as he struggles to find a way to decline her. After an infinitesimal pause, he finally gives in to her request and saunters off to fish for her luggage from the crew deck. Her twinkle of a laugh follows after him, but she remains tethered to the land instead of aiding him. Leaving Fifi alone on the dock.. she might get stolen! She doesn't know her peers at the academy, for all she knows they could be crooks. Bernadette hugs Fifi's container to her chest, resting her chin against the top of it. There’s a stinky stare that comes from the guard as he returns with her luggage in haul, and it reminds her of newspaper remnants and slick-oil fast food gone to rot. It's as if his looks permeates a smell not quite detectable to others, as if due to the lingering masses of overstuffed dumpsters suffocating the air of a neglected alleyway. The smaller more confiscated details get drowned out by the excess to most people of her age and disposition, and in the crevices that fly under the radar of others the most volatile growths seemed to proliferate; frothy yeast pouring out of people's mouths turns into the most demonic of monsters. Contempt. The staff member stares at her with it. She wonders why. Perhaps he can see through her, but transparent is something that Bernadette isn't. Rolls her luggage towards her, with another large crate in tow. Her disposition falters, but quickly returns, and she begins to pace ahead of him, looking back at him with a grandiose gesture. "This way!" She exclaims. His stare does not stop. She feels ice picks against her back. The only thought that surfaces is 'he needs to calm down'.

The influx of students isn't scary to her, and she merely just lags behind most of them. She doesn't want to get lost from her staff amigo, and lose her stuff. He accompanies her to the entrance, before setting the baggage down next to the gate, pivoting, then leaving without a word. Curious. The foot falls of a skipping, giddy male make her turn to glance at him, and she hurriedly begins to trek inside to avoid contact with him. His demeanor sets off all kinds of alarms in her noggin. He seems genuinely enthralled with this situation, which kind of freaks her out. Maybe he has a plan to destroy this place or to beat some poor soul up. That poor soul wasn't gonna be her. She shuffles inside with much difficulty, yanking all of her gear behind her. That insolent staff member really should've stuck around to help her, but didn't seem in the slightest amused or interested by her attitude. Then she's in the courtyard, looking silly with her large amount of stuff. Everyone else looks plenty free, without the hassle of having to carry so much. The amount of stuff she brought probably weighed three times what she did. The dull thrum of conversation made her want to drop all of her stuff and join in, but sadly, leaving Fifi alone would make the poor cat yowl. So she just continued to struggle towards the entrance.
