I remembered I was in a room full of girls and I turned and looked around. I smiled and felt heat rush to my cheeks. Damn, me and my blushing. I just wish there was a way to turn it off. “Cynthia,” I repeated, feeling the name leave my tongue. “Nice to meet you, Cynthia. Uh, that’s my dog,” I smiled and pointed at Casper who was just staring at me with his tongue hanging out. “So, uh, sorry if I’m interrupting anything, my cousin here just wanted me to help her unpack..so, uh, I’ll get to it.” I smiled nervously and turned to busy myself with Luce’s bags. Gee, why was I being all jittery and nervous? Surely it wasn’t the coffee I’d just had about 15mins ago. It had to be being around this many people. I wasn’t used to the attention like this. Oh, who was I kidding? I couldn’t even lie to myself. A laugh escaped my lips and I shook my head slowly. Whoa, I just laughed out loud. To them, it probably seemed like I was crazy and just laughing at nothing, so I had to fix that by digging around in Luce’s bag and pulling out the first thing my hand touched. It was…a teddy bear? “Luce? Any clarification on this?” I questioned with a small smile on my face. There was no way Luce still slept with teddy bears. That was so high school. Yeah, I slept with a teddy bear when I was in high school. There isn’t a problem with that, but college is the gate to adulthood. The day you enter college is the day you only have stuffed animals if there is a kid in the household. I would know. Zach kept his toys everywhere and anywhere. Speaking of Zach, I fumbled around in Luce’s bag and pulled out Zach’s favorite teddy bear. “Oh,” I breathed out and tears lined my eyes. I quickly squeezed them shut and blinked back the small tears that wanted to be free. Damn, I missed him. I couldn’t help but miss him. I was the worst father in the world. I abandoned my own son and I didn’t think twice about it. Taking a deep breath, I turned back to Luce and a smirk played on my lips despite the pain in my chest. “Any of you girls wanna paint the campus red tonight?” I questioned with that adorable smirk still playing on my lips.

"I've been around motorcycles my whole life. My cousin Lee repairs em for a livin,' an' he used to be a biker back in the 60's. Heck, I don't even think he owns a car." Good memories floated by. Riding on the back of Lee's old Panhead chopper when he was 6 in the high Georgia summer. Going to a motorcycle rally when he was 10 and seeing hundreds of bikes all lined up in rows. Watching a stunt team perform on their old Harley Knuckleheads from the 40's and wishing he might one day be as cool as them.

"Well, I mostly came to Flagler cause it ain't too far from home, and cause it's known for having lots of friendly people and it's prestigious and stuff." Johnny shrugged a bit. "My parent's pushed for it too. Soon as I get outta here, I really wanna see places. It's one of the reasons I want to go into film, to get the chance to really travel and see places I ain't seen." His parents always brought back stories and photos and gifts from their lengthy trips, but it wasn't the same.

Was his hometown really that boring? It wasn't a question that really needed to be asked. "The place I'm from barely is big enough to have a name. It's nearly in the Okefenokee National Forest. But my cousin who I live with likes livin' out in the middle of nowhere. " Johnny sighed when she reminded him he still had more to do. "I got two more boxes outside I gotta bring in, then I figured I'd get some lunch over at the cafeteria place. I'm starved."

xxxxJack nodded, but still eyed the dog warily after listening to Zachery. "A dog that thinks it's a cat. I guess he can't be all bad then." he said, giving Zachery another weak smile. His friend who's dog bit him had given his similar assurances, but he still had that glistening scar on his right hand. Proof that one could never truly trust a dog. Jack looked back to his cat that was resting in his lap, happily ignoring everything going on, and smiled a bite wider. "As long as Smokey's ok with it, I should be able to survive. It's only one small dog after all..." he thought, trying to convince himself to forget his unsavory opinion of dogs. His roommate was a dog person, the dog was a cat person, and smokey needed the experience, so there was no reason for him to be the grumpy weight bringing everything down. It's only for a year after all, and his roommate seemed like a nice enough guy. "Things will work out, eventually. They always do in the end." he thought with a slight nod.

Suddenly Jack's head jerked back towards Zachery. "Are you a freshman?" he asked suddenly with the energy he had before returning. "I'm a sophomore here, and I don't think I remember seeing you around last year." he explained, not wanting the other man to take offense if he was incorrect. He looked around the same age as Jack, but looks could be deceiving. Jack looked at the other man with a patient expression, waiting for a response. If he was right and Zach was a freshman, then he'd offer to give him a tour. If he was wrong then he'd compare class schedules and laugh off his blunder. Either option was a good way to kill time, which Jack had plenty of.

tab Ryanne smiled at Lucille and said, ”You’re welcome. That’s really cool.” She turned her attention back to the animals as Lucy spoke about them. She laughed when she spoke about her cousin. ”I’ll have to remember that.” Ryanne moved a little to get comfortable on the bed that she was sitting on. She listened as Lucille spoke and nodded before saying, ”I’m a sophomore as well. I would’ve been a junior, but I took time off before I started college. I love this place, but I do miss home. I visit my grandparents in Ireland almost every summer, it’s my parents way of making sure we all stay connected. I don’t mind though.” Ryanne laughed and said, ”I also paint. I want to be able to illustrate children’s books.” She smiled at Lucille’s reaction to her sketches and said, ”Thanks. You can have them if you want.” She carefully pulled out the pictures and handed them to Lucille.

tab Once she was off the phone with her daughter, she looked at Lucille and laughed before saying, ”Yes, She’s the reason that I took a year off school. I wanted to make sure that she knew that I cared. Now that she’s a little bit older, she knows that I’m going to school to give her a good life.” Ryanne laughed and said, ”Thanks. You’ll definitely get to meet her sometime, since you are my roommate lol.” After she had signed goodbye to Aislee, she laughed and said, ”That’s a good start.” Lucille then mentioned something about walking around the campus. Ryanne stood up and said, ”Umm…sure, just let me get my camera. On the first day, I always like to take pictures of campus and sketch them for practice.” She was about to get up, when she heard Lucille introducing herself to someone that was in the doorway. Ryanne looked over to see the girl who had introduced herself and then a few minutes later, she heard another female voice.

tab She waved to them both and said, ”Oh, hello. I’m Ryanne.” She stood up just in time for a male to walk into the room which made her sit back down and sit with her back against the wall. Ryanne didn’t trust men because of what happened with her ex-boyfriend. Even if the guy looked completely harmless it still freaked her out. She then noticed Xaine blushing with made her smile and open up just enough to introduce herself, ”Umm..Hello Xaine. I’m Ryanne.” She then heard him say that his cousin had asked him to help her unpack, which reminded her that she had wanted to find her camera. She grabbed her bag and opened it before searching for her camera. Once she found it, she had closed the bag placing it back where it was before. She then looked up when Xaine asked Lucille about the teddy bear which reminded her that her daughter had given her, her favorite doll, so that she wouldn’t forget about her.

tab She grabbed her bag once again and pulled out the doll before placing it on the nightstand closest to her bed. She then stood up and said, ”Lucy, are we still going to go walk around campus?” To be honest, she was starting to feel uncomfortable with a guy being in their room. She had nothing against Xaine because she didn’t know anything about the guy, she just didn’t trust men. She put the string from her camera around her wrist and walked over to where Lucy was standing. She then heard Xaine ask them all a question before saying quietly, ”I’m pretty sure that you aren’t being literal because if you were that might actually be interesting.” Ryanne was an artist, so painting was in her blood.
