                                                Antonio Dios

A smile came onto the man's face as he stepped onto the Ilex Institute property. "It's great to be back..." He mumbled as he walked through campus. Today was the day when everyone would arrive, students and staff, for the upcoming school year, and Headmaster Dios was definitely excited for it. Every year different students from different place came to this academy, but they all had one thing in common: They were all Gijinka looking for a place they would be accepted. Antonio Dios was the man who would provide them with that place; that was his job, a job that he loved more than anything in the world. It was his responsibility to keep the students safe from hateful and close-minded humans, and to make them feel comfortable in this Gijinka haven. He also hoped to be able to enhance their Gijinka abilities, as well as teach them to be proud to be Gijinka. Even though most of the world didn't think so, Gijinka were amazing creatures with very special abilities. It had taken Antonio a whole childhood full of hatred and prosecution from others to figure that out.

He was born and lived nearby in Goldenrod City. Back when he was young, it wasn't as accepting of Gijinka as it was presently. He could be thanked for that change. The man was an activist when he was younger, and he worked in Goldenrod City. With his experience and knowledge, he was able to change many peoples' minds about Gijinka. Eventually the city even funded his idea to have an all Gijinka school, and thus, Ilex Institute was born. In this academy, he hope to create many more scholars and activists, who would go around and change the world for Gijinka. If not that, at least be happy and proud of who they were, and find a place they would be accepted.

The man made his way into the pleasantly familiar Faculty Dorms. It wasn't too much of a walk down the halls, as his dorm was the first: F1. He opened the door with the key for the room, and stepped inside. It was rather small, compared to his condominium in Goldenrod, but he loved living here anyway. Antonio set down his bags, and quickly began unpacking. He put his clothes in the closet, and set up everything he had brought for the year; his books went on a small bookshelf, and important documents and such were kept in a drawer. He even set up a small laptop on a desk. When he was done moving in, the man exhaled happily. He once again stepped out of the dorm and made his way out of the building and onto the campus. Students and faculty would be arriving soon, and he wanted to greet them.

                                            Ivory Greene

Most students weren't very happy or excited to go back to school like Ivory was. Then again, most students didn't go to Ilex Institute. The girl walked along the Ilex Forest path carrying a travel bag around her shoulders with a happy smile on her face. Next to her walked a Chikorita just as happily.

When she could see the clearing at the end of the path, Ivory turned to the Pokemon.
"Are you excited Chikorita? Another year at Ilex!"

"Chika!" She cried happily, and gave a smile that matched the grin Ivory had on her face. Summer back in Cherrygrove City was fun, but she wouldn't push going back to school ahead a single day. She enjoyed relaxing with her family, but it was rather lonely. She couldn't truly open up to anyone besides her brother, the only other Gijinka around her age in the city. She had friends who were human there, but they didn't know about her, and she was a little afraid to confess. Plus she wasn't too close to those human friends anyone. Often times during the past summer, she found herself feeling depressed and missing the friends she had made at Ilex Institute, and just the atmosphere at the school. Oh well, she wouldn't miss it for much longer she realized; they were almost there!

After exiting Ilex Forest, the academy was just a short walk away. She didn't need to go into or through Goldenrod since it was just on the outskirts of the city. As the gates of the school approached, the girl couldn't help smile happily.

"C'mon Chikorita!" She said as she started running towards the school and giggling. The Pokemon happily ran alongside her. When she came onto campus, she turned to watch as the familiar buildings and sights passed her by. There were so many good memories she had in this place. Hopefully some of her friends from the years past would be coming back this year; or she would be able to make new ones, to make new good memories.

The girl only stopped running when she reached the Girls' Dorm building.
"Here we are..." She said, and stepped inside. Her dorm wasn't too far into the building, and she found it pretty quickly. Using the key that was mailed to her with this year's welcoming letter, she opened up the door. There was a bed, a desk and chair, and a closet along with four walls to decorate how she pleased. Setting down her bag, she moved over to the window and opened up the curtains to let some sunlight in.

                                            "This is nice..."

As she began unpacking, Chikorita climbed onto the bed and sat down, watching her owner. After about thirty minutes or so, her closet was filled with clothes, her desk had a laptop as well as a cup full of pencils and pens on it, as well as a plushy of a shiny Jumpluff, her bed was covered with more plushies of cute Pokemon, mostly Grass-types, and on her wall she had posters of two Gym Leaders: Erika of Kanto, her idol, and Gardenia of Sinnoh. Their love for Grass-types and strength made Ivory a huge fan.

When she was finally done unpacking, the girl flopped onto the bed.
"Ah... It feels nice to rest after our long journey here..." She said, petting Chikorita.

She had walked all the way from Cherrygrove to here. It had taken her a day; and she had to spend the night in Azalea's Pokemon Center. Normally, her parents would go with her when she came to Ilex Institute, but since she got Chikorita for her sixteenth birthday, she could defend herself from wild Pokemon. She was even able to battle some trainers along the way.

"You know Chikorita, I'm tired, but I don't just wanna laze around today!" The girl exclaimed, sitting up. "C'mon! Let's go look around campus! Maybe we'll see some teachers or friends from last year!" Before she had a chance to respond, the eager girl picked up the Pokemon and headed out the door. She strolled around campus, wondering who she would find.

It was a bit of a disappointment, actually.

Naeem had spent his summer hoping that the school would burn down or be destroyed in a bad storm. Not because he hated the Ilex Academy- That wasn't it at all; It would have just made things a little more interesting. The Egyptian gijinka was bored often and he wished for some sort of excitement in the world. It was all empty prayers, he knew. He supposed he didn't mind either way, it was just another inconvienience he would have to deal with. He had to deal with those a lot, so he was used to it. Like not having arms, dealing with other students, lots of inconviences. They all became a part of his daily routine and he learned to get around them.

What a shame that homeschooling wasn't an option for him.

Melted ruby eyes kept a steady stare at the paper grasped in hands that shadows on the ground seem to have spit out. On the paper was the academy's address and his dorm number messily scribbled in gold ink. One would have thought Naeem could have remembered the location and dorm from the previous year but, he clearly didn't care. His gaze tore away from the paper to directly infront of him- a wall. A wall of the school. A wall that probably held absolutely no sentimental value at all and he didn't know why he was staring at it. "I'm...supposed to be doing something..." His voice was a deep mumble- simply a murmur of empty thought.

Right! He needed to go to his room and unpack! His dark eyes darted to take a quick glance at one of hid hand projections that held a medium-sized suitcase. It didn't look like it held a lot and it didn't. A few outfits and a few items. He didn't have much and he doubted he ever would. There was no use in measuring somebody by their quantity in material items, anyway. He turned on his heel and inside the boy's dorm building. He ended up walking several times up-and-down the room hallway before actually stopping at his room. How he managed to skip over the room number that many times was beyond him. No point in mulling it over, though. Bandaged stumps only gave a slight twitch as a shadowed hand came from another hand and pulled a key from Naeem's pocket. With a click of a key and a turning of a doorknob, he practically bust the door open.

The Cofagrigus stumbled in to his room and nearly fell; He would have if the nearby desk hadn't caught him. A hand projection simply tossed his suitcase on to the bed- but, of course not without crashing in to the wall first. The impact caused the old thing to open and spill it's contents everywhere. That was okay, the floor was clean, anyway. A hand, however, did take the time to snatch a golden mask from the wooden floor and bury it under a pillow that was going to eventually become messed up. All hands returned to the Pokemon's shadow. Nothing really unusual. He inhaled through his nostrils and relished the fading scent of outdoors and cleaning products that the room had been sanitized with. He exhaled through teeth with a snake-like hiss of pleasure followed by a low, purr-like, groan and bent backwards slightly to balance himself.

For a moment, he considered getting a Pokemon companion, but that thought couldn't have been discarded quicker.

Explore..Explore...The word echoed in his head. Yes, he should explore the campus again. He should re-familiarize himself with the setting and faces he would have to be around everyday once again. Without questioning his decision, he rammed his body through the door and used his foot to kick it back closed. He took a dash down the hallway and out the dorms- Falling a couple times before actually making it to the main campus area.

Another year having his knees coated with scrapes and bruises. Just another inconvience he could deal with. He could have ran perfectly balanced if he truly wanted to, but that took effort that he didn't want to give.

                                            Ivory Greene

The girl's stroll was going peacefully, as she just took in the sunlight and the sound of the birds chirping. Everyone once in awhile, a Pidgey or Spearow would utter a cry. In rare instances, it would be a Taillow or Starly, or even Pidove; the bird Pokemon not from these two regions. The school's lawn were looking very green and lush, and the flowers had bloomed beautifully. It almost felt like she was taking a walk in her garden back home in Cherrygrove.

Her stroll was interrupted though, and Ivory came out of her state of euphoria after hearing the sound of a thud. She looked around, and then down to Chikorita with a raised brow. The Pokemon had just as confused an expression as she did. Ivory just shrugged it off, and continued walking. After a few more steps, the sound was heard again.

"What is that...?" She asked her Pokemon. Once again, Chikorita had no idea. They would find out soon enough though. A few moments later, a humanoid figure came into view; someone who was running. There was something wrong with the silhouette though... The arms, they cut off after before the forearms. As the figure continued to run, it fell to the ground, and the familiar impact noise was hurt by the girl. She rose an eyebrow, back. "Has he been making those sounds...? And falling all those times?" Geez... That seemed like it would hurt... It's not like he had hands to catch himself with either, so he would be falling face-first.

The boy then got up and continued running, and not too long after, he fell once again.
"Maybe we should go help him...?" The Chikorita nodded, and walked up to the fallen boy alongside Ivory. Upon getting a closer look, Ivory realized that she had seen this boy before. His glowing red eyes and black hair, they looked familiar. He had gone to Ilex Institute last year, and maybe the year before that as well. She remembered him stumbling along back then as well, and had always felt bad for him. He seemed to always be in such a rush, and it was a sad sight to see him fall so often. What was his name again...?

"Um... Excuse me," She addressed him. "A-are you... Okay?" Ivory planned on extending a hand to help the other up, but she pulled back, realizing that that was probably not the best idea.

                                                        _______________________________________________________________

It had been a long trip from Lilycove City in Hoenn, but Nicholas had finally made it to Goldenrod in one piece. It was quite a change of scenery, seeing this school was just for Gijinka and not humans like his old school. Nicholas had to admit, he did miss his old school no matter how messy things got once everyone found out he was part pokemon. He still grew up there and made friends like any normal person would. He kept up the human sherade pretty well, though, he was lucky for being more human than pokemon, but even the small amount of pokemon blood in him was enough to get him kicked out of the school at the end of his junior year.

But now here he was, acceptance letter to the closest Gijinka school his parents could find in one hand and suite case in the other glancing at the ornate front entrance gate to the institute. Nicholas stepped through and looked around, seeing the campus for the first time in person, since he had only seen it in pictures before. The desire to explore and get a feel for the place was strong, but the first thing he had to do was unpack and set up his room. There was only one problem, he didn't know where his dormitory was.

Nicholas continued down the main path that seemed to work as the major artery of the campus. Glancing around again he still had no luck in determining which hall was the one he was going to be living in. Putting his suitcase and backpack down he rummaged through the pockets to try and find the map the school had given him. "Damn, where did I put that thing?" He muttered, quickly giving up and zipping up the pockets. With a huff, he looked around again, this time looking for some sort of teacher or maybe some returning students who knew their way around campus.

This time his prayers were answered as he spotted two figures not too far away. A smile crossed his lips as he quickly put his backpack back on and picked up his suitcase and headed over to the two.

"Um, hey!" He called over as he neared the two people, hoping he was able to catch their attention. "Hi, um, I'm new here and I was just wondering if you could tell me where the boy's dorms are?" He asked nervously. Nicholas looked over the two figures. They both looked like students, one a girl and one a boy who, seemed to be missing his arms. The image sent a quiet shiver down his spine and made his cheeks flush from nerves. The boy was a Gijinka just like him, but the difference was still shocking to Nicholas. He quickly turned his focus to the girl, only to find himself staring at her yellow anteni. She was quite nice looking and Nicholas felt so strange that instead of looking at her face he was so distracted by these apendages on her head. He turned his eyes down to their feet, waiting for their responce.

                                            Ivory Greene

Chikorita was the first to turn when the new person approached the duo. Ivory only turned after she heard his voice. She turned to face the boy, and took in the unfamiliar sight of a rather classy dressed boy with two daggers on his belt. He had black hair and red eyes that matched Naeem. Her own yellow eyes peered down at the strange black markings he had on his forearms. What kind of Gijinka was he?

"Oh, hi..." She greeted the boy before he went on to ask a question. She opened her mouth to answer, but noticed a sudden rush of color to the boy's cheeks as he gazed at Naeem. She turned to look at the Cofagrigus Gijinka, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Geez... guess the new guy was struck with love at first sight or something... Seems like Naeem was a pretty charming guy! ... That, or he was just flustered by the fact that the boy had no arms.

When it was Ivory's turn to get her stare down, she knew that it was the second one. She rose an eyebrow as the other eyed her yellow antennae. After a few awkward moments, she finally got uncomfortable enough to clear her throat and slick them back. It reminded her of the reactions she got from people back home in Cherrygrove when she forgot to wear a hat out, and brought up the self-consciousness. She really couldn't hold it against him though; he was new, and even though he was one himself, he was probably not used to seeing other Gijinka.

"Uh... The boys' dorms... I think they're somewhere over there?" She said, motioning with her head to the way that Naeem had just come from. She had expected him to head off in that direction, but stopped him by adding on, "My name is Ivory... What's your name?" He was a new kid after all, he probably didn't have any friends here. Plus she had her own goal to make more friends as well...

Nicholas' eyes snapped back up to the girl's face when he heard her clear her throat. He wasn't showing a good first impression of himself for either of the two. Once he got his response from the girl, following her finger to the hall she seemed to be pointing to, he was nearly ready to thank her quickly and take off from there, hoping to get his act together and calm himself down from his first encounter with other Gijinka. Yet, before he could do this the girl seemed to give him another chance, offering a welcome in the form of an introduction.

"Uh, Nicholas. Nicholas Viprey," he replied and flashed a nervous smile. His eyes flashed back over to the other boy who hadn't said anything yet. Nicholas kept his eyes on the boy's face for the few seconds his eyes were on him, trying not to let his red eyes drift down to the nubs his arms ended in. With his attention back on Ivory he smiled again and nodded. "Thank you, Ivory. Maybe I'll see you again around campus, but I need to go unpack," He explained, waving his free hand and heading over to the building she had directed him to.

He found his room easily enough and was surprised to find that his room mate seemed to have made his way to the room long enough to leave a mess on his bed. Putting his backpack and suitcase on the unclaimed bed, he slowly began to unpack himself, clothes folded neatly in his dresser, computer on his desk and picture of his family on his night stand. Alarm clock, more pictures, extra blankets on his bed, a poster of his home town, and a few other miscellaneous items he brought along with him to make his dorm more comfortable. Putting his backpack by his desk and sliding his empty suitcase under his bed, he looked around his side of the room, satisfied with the space. Glancing over at his room mate's bed, his smile wavered. Though Nicholas wasn't the tidiest person, he didn't like his room to be completely chaotic. He dearly hoped his room mate was going to try and clean up his side of the room a little more, though, he did have the curdisy to keep the mess on his bed only and not on the floor.

                                            Ivory Greene

When she saw the slight tension in the new boy's expression, Ivory couldn't help but feel a little relieved. She wasn't the only one who was nervous here, and maybe he wasn't exactly a social butterfly either. Maybe they could become friends, she thought and smiled as well.

"Oh, it's nice to meet you, Nicholas," She responded after the other introduced himself. Chikorita also let out a happy cry in greeting. "Oh! And this is Chikorita!" She picked up the Grass-type Pokemon and held her up He had said his last name, but she hadn't... "M-my last name is Greene!" The girl added on, but only realized how awkward it sounded after the words were out. Her gaze shifted from Nicholas to the other boy, to Chikorita, who had a slightly confused expression on her face.

The next thing she knew, Nicholas announced that he would be going to unpack.
"O-oh, okay..." She said, though she had hoped the conversation would have been a little longer. She wanted to ask more questions to find out more about this newcomer; like where he was from and what kind of Gijinka he was. Oh well. Ivory knew she wouldn't enjoy holding onto a heavy suitcase while she talked either. "Okay, see you around then." She said to the boy and waved him off. Hopefully they would meet again.

Her attention then returned to Naeem.
"So, are you okay?" She once again repeated her question. "Do you need help getting somewhere?"

Naeem had barely noticed flashes of green before his gaze held steady on a hand that reached out to help him up but quickly pulled itself back in. Good thing, too, if the hand hadn't, he would have asked it if it was stupid. He followed the hand up to look at who was looming over him. It was...somebody he didn't know. Her face did hold some sort of familiarity with him but that's where it ended. He hadn't been paying much attention to his surroundings either, that including sound, so whatever the fellow student had said he didn't hear.

"What?" He asked. That one word could have been taken a couple different ways since it was said with a bleak tone. There was no malice, but there wasn't any hint of kindness in it either. What did you say or what do you want? He actually meant the latter but he wouldn't care if the girl had taken it in a different way- As long as he got his answer. He moved and bent himself on to his knees and from there he was able to switch over to his feet. He was a bit disoriented from falling and hadn't completely caught his balance, so he stayed in a crouching position and tore his stare away from the girl to the ground.

Only a minute had passed to him and there was somebody else. Another's gaze was on him and the feel of stares made him look up. Where that other guy came from, he had no idea, but the sight of him looking so perturbed at him sent a shiver to violently ripple through his spine. He held back a vicious grin- He musn't make bad first impressions. The sight of others becoming so bothered at the sight of him always amused him. He silently enjoyed the attention and, like others he's come across, he would probably indulge in messing with that other boy.

He made sure to take note of his name. Nicholas...Something. ...He tried, at least.

Finally, Naeem hopped back on to his feet. He did stumble forward a bit but he caught himself. "You're asking if I'm okay?" He echoed the girl-- No wait, he had heard her say her name, Ivory or something like that. He echoed Ivory with a raised brow. It wasn't often that he was asked questions about his well-being. "I'm perfectly fine! Are you okay?" It never once occurred to him that asking the same was a bit strange and that she was actually worried about him falling face-first every few minutes.

                                            Ivory Greene

"What?" The boy had said, in not exactly the kindest tone when she first approached him asking if he was okay. It wasn't too vicious either, but Ivory couldn't easily tell whether the boy was offended and in what way she was meant to take the word. Even Chikorita stepped back, a little confused and even scared. She had opened her mouth to answer, but this was when she heard the new boy calling out to them. He had just saved her from the awkwardness of the situation.

After Nicholas had gone off, she looked back to Naeem, and noticed that he was now on his legs. With how easily he got up, Ivory could only assume that he was used to this. He had probably fallen down many times in the past.

When the boy did answer her question, she was happy to know that he was alright. But she couldn't help but be confused when he redirected the question back at her. Maybe it was a sarcastic remark from him, meant to say he didn't need help or didn't want Ivory's sympathy.

"I'm fine..." The girl answered. "Sorry if I mad you angry or something... I was just wondering if you were hurt since you fell... Uh... Do you need help getting somewhere? You seemed to be in quite a rush, so..."

Nicholas let out a sigh and decided that standing around in his room and staring at his room mate's mess wasn't going to get him acquainted with the campus or possibly introduce him to any future friends. Slipping his room key and phone into his pocket he walked out and closed the door behind him. He looked around the hallways and found it strangely empty. Maybe people had moved in early, or maybe they had yet to make it to campus. Nicholas shrugged it off and headed out of the the dormitory.

Looking around the campus he followed the path that lead him away from the boy's dorm and seem to take him closer to a similar building. He assumed this one probably belonged to the girls or possibly the faculty that lived on campus. As he continued down the pathway he stumbled upon a small directory pointing in the direction of the different main buildings and attractions on campus. One pointed over to a lake, another to a forest path, one in the direction he just came from for dormitories and lastly, one towards the main offices.

Glancing around, Nicholas decided his best bet was to go around in a circle and try and memorize where things were as he went along. His best bet was going to be starting down by the main offices and working his way around from there.

"Angry? That's weird." Upon asking that, his feet shuffled uncomfortably and he pursed his lips to make a thoughtful face. He couldn't possibly comprehend as to why this girl thought he was angry when he was in a perfectly good mood! He considered his appearance and his tone of voice- He was pretty sure none of those were the problem. He usually tried to keep his expressions and tones as inscrutable as possible to avoid any misunderstandings and unnecessary conflict. So, predictably, he found no problem and wrote it down as that the girl was just strange. That notion was only fueled when she expressed her concern for him; He fell a lot and he could stop it if he wanted to. The pity wasn't needed.

Naeem lets an empty smile stretch on his lips. It wasn't completely meaningless- He was actually rather amused by the other studen't concern for him. It wasn't common and it wasn't necessary. "I'm alright, I'm used to it." Every year, no matter where he was, it always ended with his skin battered with scabs and disgusting bruises. Fortunately for him, he never cared much about his appearance so the notion of having horrible skin didn't faze him. "I can not fall if I wanted to, but running like that takes effort."

In the end, it all came down to his laziness. Sometimes he considered not being so lazy, but all ideas like that were thrown away.

He still found himself a bit flattered by the girl's apprehension and decided to make an attempt to be polite to her. After all, it was a new year so it seemed that it was in his best interest to make friends. He wasn't exactly standoffish, but his social skills lacked and that's what failed him. "I'm not in a rush- I'm looking around." He explained to her; His voice cracked as he tried to lighten it's tune, "Thank you, but you shouldn't worry about my falling. I don't care so neither should you." His wording sounded strange even to him, but he couldn't find any other way to explain his logic.

                                                Antonio Dios

While Antonio was also looking around campus, he realized that he needed to get some paperwork from the office. He stopped in his path close to the forest path and headed towards the main office building. On the way, the man noticed a boy making his way there too. Even from a slight distance, he was able to tell that he had not seen this boy before. He tried to be friendly with his students, and got to know them pretty well by the end of the year. It was also common for him to help new students get accommodated and comfortable with the campus and faculty in the beginning of a new year.

"Hello there, sir," He approached the teen. "It seems we have never met before; you must be new. I'm am Headmaster Antonio Dios. And you are?"

                                            Ivory Greene

The last comment the other made really hit Ivory. The reason why he kept falling wasn't because he couldn't walk properly, but because he was too lazy to, and because he didn't care... He didn't care about his body, he didn't care about his well-being... He didn't care about himself. It just seemed so depressing to Ivory... Maybe the boy really wasn't okay. She looked down at Chikorita and noticed some sadness in her eyes too.

Even if the other said it was unnecessary, Ivory wanted to do something to help him out. But she didn't want to be an annoyance, and was feeling shyness come over her at the thought of pressing her help onto Naeem. It wasn't any of her business so... But maybe she could do it in a discrete way...

Um... Your name's Naeem, right?" She asked, though it was a bit sudden change of topic. "I remember seeing you around the years before, and I think we've shared some classes. I think we had some mutual friends as well, but I guess we never got to really meet or get to know each other..." She looked down at Chikorita for some feedback; the Pokemon once again had that confused look on her face. Ivory then knew that she was just making it awkwarder and awkwarder.

"So... Er... Maybe we should do that now? Would you mind me walking around with you and exploring campus?" This way, if Naeem fell, she could catch him and help him up. The girl was still kind of nervous asking him to see campus with her, but it was much easier than asking if she could help him walk and not fall only. She could talk to him and ask about his summer and what not, and maybe they'd have a good conversation. She did want to make friends after all.

Nicholas looked up at the entrance of the main offices and then at another sign he found by the building. Before he could look around to see what place he would head to next, he heard a low voice greet him. Turning around, Nicholas saw a tall man dressed in a formal white and frost blue outfit that matched his slicked back styled hair and bold blue eyes. At first Nicholas thought the man was a student, but Nicholas was in the Senior class and he thought it odd for someone who looked older than him to be in the same class.

His curiosity was soon answered when the man introduced himself as Antonio Dios, the Headmaster of the school. A smile crossed his lips, understanding now why he looked older than a student and was dressed so nicely. Nicholas put out his hand, offering it to the Headmaster.

"Yes, I'm one of the new students. Just transferred here to the Senior class from my old school in Lilycove in Hoenn. My names Nicholas Viprey," He said, introducing himself. "It's nice to meet you, Headmaster Dios. I've only met my old Headmaster once and it wasn't for a good reason," Nicholas explained, laughing a little, remembering that he only met the man when he was told he could no longer be a student at Lilycove because of his 'condition'.
