Such a good smell! ≿ | ≾ Happy ≿ | ≾ The Gardens

College. Ace thought it was going to be super different than high school, and it turned out that she was wrong. It was pretty much exactly like high school, but the classes were a little harder now. Not that she really minded, but it was kind of an internal let down. But, she was still going to make the best of it. She got up and dressed, and headed out to her classes. Ace was still in the mind set of not minding going to class, and actually looked forward to it. She did know that in about a week or two the effect would wear off and she would dread having to wake up and go sit in a room with a bunch of people, but for now she was going to enjoy it. Something about today though had Ace singing down the halls.

Ace was in an unusually good mood today, so much so that she was skipping to her classes, and telling everyone that she saw to have a good day. This really was a change from her normal behavior of wanting to avoid everyone, but for some reason, she was feeling really good. She didn’t really know why, but everything was alright even though she didn’t think anything bad was going to happen. Her classes were over now though, and she didn’t really know what she wanted to do. Sure, she could go to work, but today was her day off and she didn’t think that they would appreciate her coming to work in on a day off. So she was stuck here on campus.

                                      But what to do?

For the first time, she wasn’t really feeling like getting high. Which shocked even her, but that didn’t seem to be on the agenda for now. Instead of going to the gardens to smoke, Ace decided to go down there to find some flowers to make some soaps with. It had been a while since she had actually made something, and since she was in a good mood, she figured it was probably best to be creative too. Heading to her dorm, she dropped off her bag and picked up a basket. Skipping out to the gardens, she started to look at what was growing around her. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and enjoyed the smells that played around in her nose. Smiling, she headed over to a spot that smelled particularly good and started to pick things. Singing to herself softly, Ace was smelling what she picked and then put them in her basket carefully.

Possible date ideas? Thoughtful Her apartment

Trixi’s class schedule was pretty easy this time around. She only had three classes, and they were pretty much all at the same time every day. Which meant a lot of free time. But today, after her classes, she went and did a short shift at work, just to let them know that she was still alive and wanting to work. And work she did. It seemed that today was super busy at her little café, because she didn’t get to stop once. It was a good thing that she knew what she was doing, because with wave after wave, it could have easily meant that she could have lost her job. But she charged in and made it through her shift.

After, she felt like doing anything but making coffee. So she went and had a light lunch. While she was sitting at her table, eating a salad, she thought about everything that had happened recently. It was a huge mess, and Trixi knew that she would need to sort through it all sooner or later. First of all, there was the whole Josiah thing. She felt awful about everything that had happened, and she wasn’t sure how she was going to convince him that she was dedicated to making sure that he knew she wasn’t going to do anything stupid again. And then there was Veronica. She didn’t believe for a minute that all Josiah had said about her was true, she knew that deep down under everything Veronica was a good person. And how did Trixi repay her for her kindness? Add yet another rumor to her long list. Some how she was going to have to make it up to Veronica without worrying Josiah, and she wasn’t sure where she should start.

As she was thinking, she felt a presence near to her and when she looked up from her food, three angels sat in front of her. Biting her lip a bit, she nodded to each of them. Lucky for her, it wasn’t a long visit. They just wanted to thank her for her services again and to tell her that nothing was going to be held against her. They also to her that when a new assignment came up, they would let her know. Not that Trixi really wanted to go on another mission, but she knew it was how life was going to be now. Thanking them, they left and Trixi couldn’t be happier about it.

Getting up, Trixi headed back to her apartment. It had certainly been a mess, but they had gotten most of it picked up, and Trixi was even able to fix some of the holes she had punched in the wall. Putting her stuff down, she picked up Kitty and snuggled with the cat. “I missed you baby.” She whispered to cat. Hearing a happy meowf from the lardy cat, Trixi picked up her phone and decided to send Josiah a text.

                                      To: : Josiah
Hey love, want to go do something?

She sent it off and wondered what they should do. Perhaps she could convince him to go to an aquarium or something with her. Trixi had energy, and felt like walking around, and walking around looking at animals sounded like a good idea to her. Plopping down on the couch, she continued to snuggle with Kitty.

Dude I am so alrightxxxStuck here with some girlxxxYou'll find me in the gardensxxxParis anyone

xxxxIt was finally time to go back to school and Cameron was stoked. Senior year. Yup. Senior. Freaking. Year. This year was supposed to be the best in his high school career. And rightfully so. It was going to be his last and then it was off to college. Well, not really ‘off’ since he would in all likelihood be going to Hartman and Bane next year as a college freshman as well. After all, how many other schools did he know of that would help him deal with his powers? Answer; none. Therefore he was sticking right here. After all, he didn’t feel comfortable enough with his control yet that he would go out and try to be ‘normal’ at a regular college. What if something should go wrong or start levitating in class or blow up in someone’s face? Yeah know. We’re just gonna n** that in the butt right now and stay at H&B. Besides, its where all his friends were. And more importantly, its where his girlfriend was. Way initiate a long distance relationship when you don’t have to? Although, he might not see her a lot what with the classes he’s signed up for. College level mathematics to get those pesky gen. ed. credits outta the way, AP History and Government, AP English, Level 3 Computer Programming..sweet Jesus what had he done? Well, in the long run it was going to be worth it, he supposed. A lot of this stuff he was just going to end up takin next year so why not get it outta the way now? It wasn’t like he was a stranger to working hard. No way. He just had to balance school with his job and he’d be good. Yep, that’s right. His job. He’d gone and gotten himself hired at Walmart. Weeks one and two he’d been a cashier, but thankfully that was just training. You know, something about how everyone in the building needs to know just in case. He really worked in the back unloading trucks, stocking shelves and even rounding up the carts outside if they needed that done. And since he’s still a minor he can’t work past nine during the week and ten during the weekend. And there’s a set number of hours he can work anyway in accordance with some law or another. Yup. He was all good. School was looking good, busy but good none the less and he had a job that would feed his video game addiction and couldn’t make him stay late hours…at least until he turned eighteen. And then they could keep him as long as they wanted to. Great, just great…

xxxxOh well. He wouldn’t let that get him down. It would be alright for the next year or so. Right now he had other things to focus on in the here and now. We can worry about the future when it becomes the present. Right. Moving along. Something that was in the present was the number of rumors he had heard. Seriously, they spread like wildfire and it was only the first day! Granted, he spent a lot of his summer either at Shun and Noa’s apartment or at home with his family, so who knows when these silly little rumors started. The one that caught his attention though, was the one about Noa. Now, he wasn’t one to pry into people’s lives. That’s just not his style. But when a rumor goes around saying that his ‘sister’ is pregnant? Yeah, not exactly a good thing. So that’s what prompted him to mention it to Noa at breakfast this morning. She was shocked, yes. But dismissed it saying people needed stuff to talk about. Shun was ready to find the fool who started the rumor. You know, protective big brother and all that. But Noa said to just let it be and it would go away…hopefully. Though, no one missed the nervous way she said that. How do you even go about dispelling a rumor? Do you just tell the truth to someone and hope it gets around or…Cameron didn’t know. This was the one thing he would do without in his life. Why couldn’t we all just be friends, or at the very least pretend to like each other? Sheesh. The world would certainly be a happier place then.

xxxxCam busied himself after breakfast on the Playstation for a good half an hour, to forty five minutes. What? No reason he can’t enjoy a good game before school starts… Besides, fighting off Bid Daddies was the perfect way to start your morning. He wasn’t even really concerned with being on time since the first couple of days you usually did nothing anyway. Just listened to rules and what would be expected, what the course was about and blah, blah, blah. Whatever. He moved his character around the screen, opening up all the storage crates, investigating purses, corpses, desks, registers, anything and everything where there could be extra ammunition lying around. “Okay, six health packs. Seven EVE packs. Gonna needs some armor piercing bullets…” he mused aloud. He was perfectly content to wander around some more looking for things, when a baddie appeared on the screen, prompting Cam to swear under his breath as he waster precious bullets beating the stupid thing. Note to self, stop wasting bullets and use a wrench instead. It would take longer, but pay off in the end. He needed those bullets to fight the upcoming Big Daddy after all. Splicer dealt with, he crept through the halls of Rapture again, opening crates along the way and beating down any other enemies that showed up that he deemed unworthy of using bullets on. He did however, grudgingly, use up a whole EVE bar, on one person! Seriously, you know how hard that stuff is to come by on the hardest level of the game. Sheesh. “Cam? We’re gonna leave soon.” Noa warned. “Gimme two seconds.” he said. Slay another splicer or two, replenish EVE and save in the room next to where the Big Daddy is located. Done and done. He could go to school content now. They dropped Noa off at her school first, assuring her that she would be a fine teacher and that he students would like her. Seriously, Noa had a heart of gold. Who wouldn’t like her? Anyway, soon after that Shun dropped him off at school and the school day was pretty much a blur. He got one assignment in his biology class and that was to go out and take pictures of some of the local flora and fauna and bring it in for tomorrow. That’s why he found himself in the school gardens with a digital camera, snapping pictures of the flowers in the area. There was another girl in the area and he couldn’t remember her from class but maybe she had the same professor? Maybe. He snapped a couple of photos as the same kind of flower she had in her basket before walking up to the girl. “Uh, excuse me? Can you tell me what kind of flowers these are?” he questioned curiously. He needed to know for class and if she knew, that would be a lot less work for him.

Right now I'm feeling content Spending time with Casey You'll see me in the courtyard Rocking those suspenders

xxxxWatching Casey rub at her make up free eye reminded Noa of the privileges that Casey enjoyed as a tom-boy. You didn’t have to worry about smudging your make up. Noa had a hard time with that at first. It was horrible. She was always rubbing her eyes and ruining her eyeliner for like, the first month or so she started to wear it. Talk about total pain in the butt. Bur clearly she was destined to be a girly girl because eventually she got the hang of it. Instead of attacking your eye, merely scratch gently with your nail. That was one of many make up rules she had to learn. Others included that tears, crying, moisture in general and make up do not go together in any way, shape, or form. Tears will cause mascara to run and leave tracks through any blush or foundation you may have on. Noa hadn’t made this particular blunder yet. I mean sure, she wore mascara, but she can’t recall having ever cried while wearing any. And even if she did, she certainly didn’t wear enough to cause those horribly ugly black and runny trails. You know, like the ones in the movies where a girl cries. First and foremost, their mascara runs. It looks like this black messy goop around her eyes and junk as she sobbing her heart out onto the floor. They get black all over their faces and it just makes this whole big mess all over your face and hands and just ugh. It’s a huge mess that Noa did not want to have to deal with. It was predominantly those movies that made Noa never want to cry while wearing mascara and also why she tried her damned hardest not to. The point of this little mini aside, you ask? Casey was lucky she didn’t have to deal with this sort of crap. Noa had heard (from Cameron of course) that she’d done up some make up for the spring formal, but that was probably going to only be for special occasions or something like that. Which was totally understandable. Doing it every now and again was totally fine, in fact there were quite a number of girls who preferred to do it that way.

xxxxRegardless of their difference though, Noa enjoyed Casey’s company. She was fun to be around and had a personality all her own that made her very unique. Like she had said before, Noa had honestly never met anyone like Casey before, and that certainly wasn’t a bad thing. To be fair, it wasn’t like Noa didn’t have her off days (affectionately called her ‘bum days’) where she dressed in the baggiest clothing that she owned, didn’t do her make up and just threw her hair into whatever style was the easiest at the time. But, to also be honest, those days are few and far in between. When it comes right down to it, she’s a girly girl, through and through. There was really no denying it. “Good, I’m glad to hear you’re well. And yes, I did enjoy for it was most entertaining.” she admitted. She scratched at the corner of her eye daintily with one manicured nail painted white. See? There we go, its pretty much instinct now. She doesn’t have to think about it anymore but her girly girl ways are very much a part of her now and just happen naturally. Popping another grape into her mouth, Noa watched Casey pick at a scab that was bothering her hand. Ouch. That looked kinda bad, actually. But it could just be that Casey kept picking at it. Shun had that problem. Cuts always looked worse than they actually were and took forever to heal because he constantly picked at the scabs. I mean really now, how id something supposed to heal if you keep poking at it. Sheesh. But hey, if Casey wanted to pick at it, that was her prerogative and Noa was not about to comment on it. That might just make her seem rude and she did not want that. Casey might not like that.

xxxxShe put the lid back on the container that still held a quarter of the fruit salad in it and put it away in her bag to be eaten later. Casey produced a container of orange tic tacs out of her pocket. Noa nodded her head and with a quick and polite “thank you”, she extracted two tic tacs for herself and popped them into her mouth. One was never enough and she was inclined to believe that the creators of tic tac knew this fact very well. That’s why tic tacs were so little and sold in those small containers. It was totally and sales ploy to get you to buy more, one that Noa totally fell for every time. No really. She had a pack of the white tic tacs in her bag at this very moment. They’re really addicting, but eat too many and Noa knows she’ll be bouncing off the walls like a child on crack. Its why Noa won’t have too much sugar during the day. Its not that she doesn’t like it. Oh no, the problem is that she loves it, maybe a little bit too much. But too much will lead to an overly hyper Noa that the world has only had the pleasure of seeing a handful of times. Its not really a pretty sight at all, and its in these rare moments that Shun was actually the responsible one and Noa was the one that had to be dealt with like she was nine years old again. Noa would rather not put Casey through the ‘honor’ of meeting hyper Noa. So anyway, Jolt had entered the annoying ‘pee on everything’ stage had he? That must have sucked royally. At least with a child, they have on a diaper so clean up was easy. Noa had mild reservations on a dog. Males humped everything and females got their period much like humans did. Noa wasn’t sure how the carpets in their apartment would fair. Maybe they should just settle on a cat as their first pet…yeah. That was probably the better, safer idea. And their land lord apparently loved cats and had two of her own so she wasn’t going to be a concern. Yea a cat was sounding good. Anyway, yes, she was teaching. Well student teaching anyway, but teaching none the less. And she was excited. Her first day had gone fairly smooth so she could only hope that the next couple of weeks would do the same. “I’m student teaching in ESL, English as a Second Language, to Japanese children. It went really well today and the kids all seem to like me, thankfully.” That was probably because she herself was also Japanese and not some weird looking person that they couldn’t relate to. Noa nodded her head. “It really is. I’m really relieved. I would have hated to have a class who didn’t even want to bother.”

Josiah had been spending a lot of gym-time working on re-sculpting his abdominal area since it had been destroyed by the hernia and hernia surgery. It hadn't been as pretty a sight as it was before - nor the rest of his body - for a while, but he was definitely trying to completely fix it. He was on a backwards-slide sit up bench, so he had more space to lift himself using his abdominal. He was twisting to the side, sculpting well in between the muscles with the action, and holding a twenty-pound medicine ball at the same time. Even before the surgery, he had spent most of his spare time at the gym. No, it wasn't healthy, especially since ever after the surgery, he had barely changed his gym-habits (besides spending more time on a weight before moving up to heavier weights faster), but Josiah didn't care too much. It had gone from a, "I want to be a buff fireman" to a, "I like how working out makes me feel and how it makes me look, so I'm going to keep doing it for that reason." motivation. Both of them were good motivation, but, he felt this one was more motivating. More inspiring to him. To move his lazy a**.

Especially using all the frustration he had just gathered only, maybe a little more than twenty minutes ago when he had seen Casey and his brother. In truth, he loved his sister. She was sharp-tongued, clever, annoying, childish and several kinds of stupid, but he found himself enjoying their "spats". Even when he fell victim to more than a few mean words. Mostly because he spews them right back. But the anger she does manage to build up is great fuel for working out. Of course, working out after eating something -- especially a grilled cheese with all that greasy butter it's cooked with -- is not the best idea, so he found himself accepting a weakness: break time. He slid down the angled bench and stood up, grabbing his sweat towel and dabbing his face off from the sweat he managed to build. Which wasn't much, but he still didn't want it all over his face. He took a sip of his water as he went to his bag where his phone was located and extracted it from one of the zipped pockets, setting his half-full bottle of water down. He had a text from Trixi, but since he was stupid he never put his phone on ring from when he was at class earlier. Wonderful job, Josiah. You are a prime example of common sense running away from the majority of the population.

                                                To: Trixi
"Go do something? Like dinner? Hang on. I'm on my way home. : ) "

Josiah looked at the clock as he sent his message - part of him reminding himself that maybe checking the time would have been a better idea to do before sending the message than after. But at least the text hadn't been on his phone long before he had replied. Maybe a minute or so, according to the clock. He's been thinking of things they could do together, in his mind when she was gone it was honestly one of the only things he could think of. When she came back. When she was his again. Because he didn't feel like dropping everything he had with Trixi to think about what he would do when a different girl came around. One of those ideas was a private dinner. Much like their valentines day treat that one year, where they had a candle-lit dinner outside. But he felt he should make sure the two times weren't too similar. Maybe Trixi had an idea. He should get home. Josiah decided he'd continue his work-out some other time; his stomach was already begging for mercy about being worked after being stuffed with a greasy, hot sandwich anyway. He threw his towel into his bag along with his capped water bottle, zipped it up and as he headed out he turned the volume on his phone up. He had been flying to class, work, and the gym and back lately.

He isn't getting paid as much as gas costs, so why not? Use the car for more important trips, fly otherwise. It was good exercise for his shoulders anyway. He wasn't sure exactly how long it took him to get home, but, he was there sooner rather than later after the text was sent. Maybe five to eight minutes or so. He found his way inside his and Trixi's apartment, where the damage from their "fight night" has been well-taken care of. There was one hole that wasn't fixed yet, but was well covered by a picture of what looked like a vine of flowers, but, like hell he understood "art" much at all. Nah. He bought pictures he thought would cover holes in the wall the best and not be obvious that's what they were there for. Not for meaning. It was awkwardly placed just before a door, so, if you took that into consideration, maybe the picture was kind of suspicious. "Oh lover, wherefore art thou, lover?" he asked, dropping his keys -- loaded with keys to a few of the rooms of the school, the mailbox key, the house key, his car key and yeah. A lot of keys. -- onto the counter with a pretty loud clang.

Upon seeing Noa's clean, pedicured girly white-painted fingernail, Casey looked down at her fingers. Her brothers always picked on her for her fingers. Casey had small hands. Small hands. Let's just say if she held hands with her five year old brother, walking him across the street, his hand could probably fully covered hers. It made holding video game controllers harder, it made video gaming harder, but she managed pretty well. She was fast enough to make up for her lack-of-reach. These small hands were adored with stubby, slender fingers with short, rounded finger nails with about three centimeters of finger-tip flesh showing in front of the nail. But the idea of short fingernails, long fingers was more so elven than tom-boyish. Only high-class elven women had long fingernails to show their class. They didn't have to do so much work, so, they didn't run risk to hurting their fingers, or destroying fingernails like Casey's class did. Thinking about her fingernails, which despite everything seemed to be well taken care of, made her bite onto one of the stubby nails in question.

That is mostly why she can't wear nail polish. Out of everything a girly girl does - nail polish is the one thing Casey can understand and deal with better than anything. She loved the smell of nail polish. She paints her nails, hates not having her toe-nails painted (because she really thinks that her blank toenails are disgusting as hell...) but it never lasts long because Casey chews it off quickly. She does have a problem with letting people mess with her fingernails and toenails though. She wouldn't be comfortable, at all, sitting back and letting someone scrub her nails and stuff. Nope. She's hyper paranoid about other people's motives and skills. Like hell she's going to trust a stranger with her fingers. They could break them, or shatter her nail, and then her finger will hurt, and doing anything will hurt. Screw that. "I'm glad to be well, Noa. I'm glad to be well. It would suck royally if I was un-well." she nodded to herself, as if what she replied was acceptable. She crunched on one of the tictacs with a loud crunch sound.

User Image"I'm a pretty great improv-actor. I don't mean to brag but-" she mimicked a snobby boy who sat next to her at lunch the other day by scrunching her nose and taking a quick, sharp breath from her nose. Loud enough for Noa to hear. "- I've gotten a call from Hollywood asking me to stop making their actors -- Kristen Stewart -- look like poop with how glorious I am. True story, bro -- er... "bro-ette".. "sis".. girl." Casey whispered "Kristen Stewart", putting a hand around her mouth as if it was a super-secret that most things with a v****a tell. All of it was said very sarcastically, in an over-done way, so Noa would have no doubt that Casey wasn't being serious. Because then if Noa thought she was serious, Casey would feel like she just lied. And if Casey felt like she'd just lied, the fecal-matter would hit the quick spinning-blades of an electronic cooling device in the form of Casey barfing out apologies (and perhaps begging for a world with no soap eating contests) faster than Noa could say, "Jay-Kay, Brodette". But yeah right, only in Casey's imaginary land would something like that happen.

By the way, she really wished she could draw half the amazing plot-line her brain comes up with during her every day life. She could make a killing selling comic books titled "heroic enterprises with Casey 3-names!" ... or something. She wasn't sure what she'd call it yet, but, "Heroic Enterprises" sounds like a hell of a business to own one day. "Oh, dude, no way! I had to take one of those when I got here, 'cept by the time I could get out to take the class I knew a bit more than them." English is her second language. Elven is her first. She learned it mostly from her brothers, and her foster family. There were so many of them, that even when they weren't talking to her to actually teach her, and just talking amongst themselves, Casey learned a lot. Of course, there were a few words that they taught her for the sole purpose of her getting her butt whooped by her foster father, because at that time, most of her foster brothers didn't exactly want her around.. Cough. "We had a hard time finding my teacher, so I guess it's a job that does have a bit of demand... at least, they need some in Arizona.. which is pretty great." is there is a high demand for what you do, you get a job. If you get a job, and threaten to quit when they need you, you get more money. You get more money, you live more comfortably and are more successful with your career. Facts. Casey knows them.

Right now I'm feeling content Spending time with Casey You'll see me in the courtyard Rocking those suspenders

xxxxWatching Casey bite at her finger brought to Noa’s attention how, well, how little Casey’s fingers were. In fact, it wasn’t just her fingers, it was her whole hand. Like seriously. They were no bigger than a child’s! Some girls would find that to be cute and stuff like that. ‘Look how little I am! Aren’t I cute?’ and then after that you cue the attempt at a cute pose or something of the like. She wondered what Casey thought about it. She probably thought nothing of it, unless it was annoying or something. Noa subconsciously glanced down at her own hands. They were normal sized…right? Well, it certainly wasn’t like she held them to another person’s hands to compare sizes. That was just silly. Uh, whatever. No need to dwell on something as trivial as hand sizes, right? Right. Although, thinking about hands made her think about her nails which made her think about the fact that she hasn’t had a manicure in a while. She should probably go in for one just because. Seriously. She’s been doing her own nails as of late, and by doing her own nails I mean she just paints them and calls it a day. She hasn’t had them professionally done in quite some time now and actually wanted to get a mani-pedi one of these days. Maybe this weekend. She’s just been working so long she couldn’t find the time to go. But this weekend, she was resolved to take a me day. Maybe treat herself to a day-spa or something just to unwind. It might be her last chance to relax before things got really busy. Yeah, a me day would be really nice before things got too crazy and she drove herself mad. And after that she would come back to her apartment and just lounge around. Take it easy for the rest of the day, maybe for the rest of the weekend if she felt so inclined..which she probably would. Noa nodded her head in the affirmative. “Yes, it really would. I’d hate to hear if you weren’t doing well.” Seriously. Everyone should be happy all the time. It meant less stress and less time worrying about things and such. It would make for generally happier people. And happier people made for a happier world and that would just be such a wonderful place to live in, don’t you think?

xxxxCasey finished the tic tacs she had been eating before talking about her skills as an improv actor. Oh ho ho? Well excuse me young lady. Didn’t know we were dealing with a professional here. Haha, no not really. Noa could catching the teasing sarcastic tone in her voice. Doesn’t mean the sight wasn’t comical. “Wow, Kristen Stewart? You don’t say. She’s like, the best of the best.” Don’t mind the sarcasm lacing that statement. Noa shook her head at Casey’s antics, giving a small chuckle at the same time. “I’m sure you’ll be wonderful on the big screen.” Jay-kay bro. None of this should be taken seriously. Just playing around is all. Its what friends do and all that, you know. She…couldn’t really see Casey as a movie actor. Well, I dunno. Maybe she could pull it off. I mean she certainly had Noa laughing with her whole little ‘I hear voices in my head’ deal a few minutes ago so maybe if she went into comedy or something…speaking of, what did Casey want to do when she got older? Just, you know, out of curiosity. This was her senior year in high school after all. This was when they started planning their college years and picking schools based on what they wanted to do. Noa nodded her head when Casey spoke. “Oh really? I didn’t know that. But I suppose if I think about it, then that makes sense. If memory serves, Cam told me you hail from a village in Ireland, correct? Your culture has its own language right?” questioned Noa. See, she does pay attention and retain some pertinent information about people every now and again. Plus one for Noa! But, er, yeah. She knows English is widely spoken, but some people still need to learn. And Casey was coming from Ireland. From a elven village no less. English didn’t seem likely to be her first language once present with all those facts. “I can see that happening. You were fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who knew English prior to the class. Some of these kids, their parents only speak their mother tongue so it’s a little harder.” Can’t exactly learn a language that you never hear now can you? Noa nodded her head in agreement with Casey. It certainly was a job in high demand, what with more and more people moving to America and needing to learn English, or at least wanting their kids to learn it. “It’s a position in high demand. Thankfully finding a job will not be hard.”

Casey continued picking at the scab on the back of her baby-hand, mercilessly trying to pick it off because now that she had started, she couldn't stop until it was off. Because now she knew it was there. And it "itched". She tried reminding herself it's a figment of her imagination, but couldn't. So she distracted herself by using her finger to scrape around the inside of the pudding cup and eat some good ol' chocolate pudding. "Yeah yeah. Kale and I might be moving to a new space." she nodded, just throwing it out there. "Mom's been thinkin' about how we need this "family unit" experience since we're adopted, and living in a boarding school forever, with no break of a "family base" on vacations is mean of her to put us through -- her words, not mine -- she wants to tear down the walls of two un-used classes next to her office and make a little apartment thing." she repeated what she did with the pudding cup, "eating" more of it off of her finger as if it was some sort of spoon. ... A straw, was more like it. Slender-joke. "Kale don't wanna because he likes sleeping with strangers who punch and choke ladies for fun. I kinda don't wanna either."

Not that Noa wanted to hear about it, or needed to, but she figured if she told Noa, word might get to Cameron that she might not have a dorm anymore. Casey was still trying to talk Ms. Hartman out of it. I mean.. sure.. most people would absolutely love having their own room, and in some ways Casey would love it. But in most ways she would hate it. She already wakes up, like, twenty times in the middle of the night flashing her little flashlight around to make sure nobody's there. Cuddled against Jolt and hiding under her blanket as if it's this really like super-sheild material that will protect her... when it's really a thin blanket. FFF. She wasn't afraid of the dark. She was afraid of what was hiding in the dark, and sometimes Jolt don't make it any easier. With his glowing creepy eyes of creepiness staring at her in the dark. Ugh. Shudder. .. She had several mental problems, thank you for noticing. "So what about you? gunna move in with that Shhhh...-- Sh--blah blah, boyfriend, almost-husband man guy?" Smooth. Seriously, it feels like there are two of her out here trying to interact, and one of "her" is very very mentally slow.

User Image... But that, my friends, is because she's to sucked into her sugar-high to give a care! ... Then again, she's never really cared much as to what people think of her. She just can't remember names unless she meets the person, and analyzes the name. Which she didn't. So the name escapes her. She knew it started with a "shh" though, because, she loved that sound. Shhhh. "I know, right? Like totally the best. Her and "Edward Robertson-whatever-the-hell" -- GOD, I wish I sparkled instead of acting well like them. It would solve all of my problems. Nope. Instead I've been cursed with the skill to actually act well." she bit onto her thumb nail, accidentally getting pudding on it. Well well, Casey, sarcastic little butt-munch today, aren't you? Yes. Thank you for noticing, self. It's very touching. ... Like she said earlier, the only voices she hears in her head were hers. In case you were wondering, the happy, squealy voice is the socially awkward, "derp child" side of her trying to make life a better, much more awkward, fun place to be. "Mhm. We spoke Old Elven - the celtic elves spoke it. Modern elves speak a version of elven that's more wrapped around latin, but, we can still pretty much converse perfectly fine." she replied.

Modern elves didn't follow any rules of celtic elves. It was more like America getting rid of England's rules, but keeping the language -- and rage-raping it with a sharp, rusty steak-knife. No offense to America, or anything. "Yeah. I was lucky that way, I suppose. I also had brothers and a set of parents to teach me along with my teacher. I guess that's how I got so fluent so quick. It's only been seven years." but her vocabulary wasn't super extended, or anything, and she had a bad habit of making up words when she couldn't think of User Imagethe right one... but, honestly, she knows people her age, born and raised here with English as their first language, with the same problem. She's come a long way, especially since the doctors said she'd never even be able to walk or see again with the amount of damage the back of her brain had taken. Ha, take that "the man". Casey's a miracle -- nah, she can just heal faster and fix herself faster thanks to her angel-half. Elves are pretty durable, too, so, she had many factors contributing to how far she'd come. "Oh, dang. Well, you seem to know your stuff, so I'm sure they'll have no problem learning. My teacher did this exercise where I had to learn "yes please. Thank you. I want one. Can I have?" when feeding me candies. If food's involved, it'll work hella great. Y'know, just for an idea if you wanted a suggestion.. or something.."

C at listened carefully as Sarah told her what she was up to. Cat came to the campus in the middle of the last school year so, she had no idea there was a back to school dance. Seemed this school had a dance for everything it seemed. That didn't bother her really she guessed. She enjoyed the dances just as much as the students. Cat was a slave to the rhythm when it came to music. She couldn't help but dance to any music that played. "Ahh the back to school dance..." she said, shoving another blueberry in her mouth. She was pretty sure that would take up a lot of time planning something like that. Cat was never one for planning things out. She was one of those people who literally just went with the flow. She liked seeing how things just seemed to plan themselves out. Speaking of planning themselves out, Cat jumped a little when she felt Sarah place her hand on Cat's leg. Cat involuntarily squished the remaining blueberries in her hand. Cat looked down at her hand but Sarh didn't leave it on her leg soon. "S-sorry.... I... I wasn't expecting that. You... startled me a.... a bit..." she stammered out, thoughts racing through her head. Was it a friends gesture? Was it intentional? Did Sarah have feelings for her? Cat shook those thoughts out of her head and tried to keep her attention on the question at hand. "No. Everything's been fine. Classes, everything... It's all been... fine... Been going very well..." she said, still stammering a little bit. Okay so she was still wondering what the motives were behind the leg touch. She couldn't help it. She wanted to know. Her brain began to think about ways to find out and she finally formulated one, very pleased with how sly her train of thought had become. "Sooo.... Sarah... speaking of finding a "date for the dance"... Do you... have a date for the dance?" she said pausing to wipe the crushed blueberries off her hand, "...Any male teachers you have in mind.... Anyway I could helpy you find someone to take to the dance?" she asked her, a coy tone to her voice. This would be a great way to find out her sexual preference. Hopefully the girl wasn't just straight. Well, for Cat's sake.

»»» Sarah nodded gently when Cat repeated "back to school dance". It had been here every year, so far, and she had no intention of discontinuing her way of welcoming students back. For good reason, too. Students seemed to love the dance, it was a chance for them to meet up with their friends and dance, and compare schedules and make plans in a happy scene. Sarah enjoyed watching the students, and even some of the teachers, have a good time. She had never had a date, and never exactly danced herself, but she was there to make sure everything went well, students behaved themselves, and everyone had a good time. Not that it ever bothered Sarah when it came to her duties of such, she was still there and still had a good time through the students. "I.. Oh my, I'm so sorry." Sarah set her cup of tea and flowers down, clasping her hands in front of her. "I wasn't thinking anything of that, my apologies.."

»»» She said, feeling stupid for forgetting that not very many people liked being touched. Even if it was a friendly gesture, a hand on the shoulder, a happy and amused hand on the knee, a comforting back rub - some people just didn't like it. Sarah hadn't pegged Cat to be one of those people, but, she shouldn't have judged such a thing by what little she knew about her. "O-Oh. Of course - I'm very glad to hear that." hopefully that last thing would be dropped for this. I mean, it was her fault, she had decided to put her hand on the other woman without completely thinking things through like she should have and -- no. Sarah, forget about it. It seems Cat wants to forget about it, too, so, just drop it. She wished she had brought her handkerchief along with her to offer to Cat after she crushed the blueberries. She felt an ounce of guilt when she watched the other woman find a different method to clean the juice and crushed-berry off of her hand.

»»» Cat asked her if she had a date, and Sarah smiled - despite the fact she didn't have a date - but waited for Cat to finish to reply. When Cat said, "Help you find a male teacher" Sarah's brain raised a flag of suspicion. ... It sounded more like a question of a different sort. She had spoke with Ms. Bane before on dating - and the other woman never said "male" or "female" when asking if Sarah had any dates. "I do not have a date, actually." she replied. "I've never been to great in the dating department, but it's fine -- I don't need a date to have a good time. I'd hate to trouble you in such a way." asking another person to find her a date was.. well.. not Sarah's style. .. Dating wasn't Sarah's style. She bit onto her lip for a moment. "How about you? Do you have a date? .. Do you plan on attending at all?"

Right now I'm feeling content Spending time with Casey You'll see me in the courtyard Rocking those suspenders

xxxxNoa watched Casey continue to pick at the scab on the back of her hand. That wasn’t good. It would take longer to heal and would scar at this rate. Or maybe it was different for elves. Maybe it wouldn’t scar but would just take longer to heal. Or maybe conventional rules for healing just totally didn’t apply to her and no matter how many times she scratched off the scab, it would still heal in the same amount of time. Yeah, you never know. But, er, whatever. The point is, she was still picking at it and Noa had to fight the urge to tell her to stop, simply because she was used to telling Shun to stop messing with cuts and to let them heal. God, he was such a baby sometimes. For real. Noa raised a curious eyebrow at the mention of Ms. Hartman’s plans for her family. Making a little apartment like place for them in the school? That would be nice. “Oh? Well that actually sound quite quaint. But you guys don’t seem all for the idea.” Honest, Noa’s not sure how she would feel. She would like to think that she would be all for having her own room and having an actual ‘home’ to go too. Sure it was still on campus, but it was better than living in those little dorm rooms, day in and day out and even during the holidays. Didn’t the dormitories get creepy when everyone went home on vacation? Especially at night? No thank you. She’d much rather be around people. But then again, she isn’t adopted so she doesn’t exactly know what Casey, and even Kale and Josiah might be feeling. Maybe they just wanted space? In that case a house would probably be better. Still a family setting but they had room to move around a breather away from each other. Or maybe that was the problem. They were used to how much space the school provided? Hell, Noa didn’t know. And she had to stop herself before she tried to contemplate it any further. That would just make her head hurt as she tried to fish for an answer so, no thank you, come again. “Well, I dunno. You could just give it a try I suppose. But ultimately, that’s up to you guys to decide. I’m sure she won’t force you into something you don’t like.” Ms. Hartman certainly didn’t seem like the type, but then again Noa didn’t know her personally. Ms. Hartman the headmistress could be totally different from Ms. Hartman the adoptive mother. You never know, right? Noa had to laugh when Casey attempted to say Shiro’s name, gave up and merely called him what he was. She nodded her head with a smile. “Eventually. Though, we haven’t talked about it a lot much. I haven’t even started planning the wedding yet, I’ve been so busy.” said Noa. Seriously. She was probably going to start with that after graduation. You know, when things would be a little bit more calm. And when she and Shiro could actually get together and plan this whole shindig. Noa didn’t want to take over the whole thing, she would get Shiro opinion on things too. It was only fair. Until then, she was still sharing an apartment with her brother. Not that that was a problem.

xxxxNoa snorted when Casey said she wished she sparkled but instead was gifted with an acting talent. Oh how awful! Such a sad life indeed. Yeah right, please. Noa shook her head. “Oh my, you poor thing. It must suck to be you sometimes. Blessed with godly acting and yet, not with the ability to sparkle.” said Noa, chuckling even as she said it. There was no way she could keep a straight face with Casey around, a fact she was quickly learning today. But that’s totally cool. She needed a good laugh every day and Casey was just so willing to provide her with one, who was she not to take it? They moved back to the topic of languages now and Casey revealed tat she spoke Old Elven. Oh? What that sounded very interesting. What id even sound like? And were the differences between Old Elven and the elven spoken by modern elves? Most interesting indeed…though maybe that was just her Lingustic nerdy side showing itself…for the umpteenth time today. Noa nodded her head. “Very true. You have extra reinforcement at home. Some of these kids are only exposed at school so they don’t get the total emersion that you got.” Yea, she was very fortunate in that aspect. Total emersion helped someone to learn a language significantly faster than just being in a classroom a few times a week with a teacher. Lucky Casey. Bribe them with food? Well there was an idea. Maybe she could do that when they got to the food section of English, or do what her teacher did and let them make food after every test. Give them some initiative or something. “That’s a very good idea. I’ll certainly keep it in mind. What better way to convince someone than with food, right?”

Throw your soul through every open door, count your blessings, turn my sorrow into treasured gold.

Casey shrugged, letting go of her scab which was still just clinging to her skin like normal. Of course she wasn't for the idea. She did like Ayyla, the girl was nice, and Casey was getting a friend out of it. "I don't do too well on my own." she explained. "That, and, I'm not sure if I'd get along with mom as well as I do if I have to be around her all the time. I use my dorm as an escape from when she tries to dress me up and stuff.." she hated having to deal with that. Of course, she knew deep down that Sarah's intentions were pure and good. She wasn't trying to annoy Casey, she wasn't trying to change her, she was trying to bond with her -- over an activity that Casey hates. She was expecting something else when she adopted Casey, Casey didn't measure up, and maybe Sarah wants to try to gain a shred of what she hoped for when adopting a daughter. Part of Casey felt bad for not being able to play that role so solidly, but, she shouldn't feel bad for being herself. And she was escaping that too - she was escaping feeling bad. She shrugged again. "Like I said.. we'll have to wait and see.."

In all honesty, she might do it. She might, if she had a few conditions laid down. One;; Kale lets Casey come sleep in his room on the floor when she gets freaked out. Two;; Casey gets to paint her room however she wants to. Three;; Sarah can't always demand shopping time and stuff... or Casey will lock her door forever and sound-proof it.. as she packs her things to move back to her dorm. Four;; Casey can have friends spend the night. Ayyla, Togna, Quinn and even Cameron. For the last two, it might take a bit of debating, but after she hears that Quinn is gay and Cameron and her aren't interested in sex it might be a possibility that she gets that demand. ... Or not. Either way, she could probably sneak Cameron and Quinn in if she wanted. Whatever. She didn't see the plans for it yet either, so maybe she should at least give that a look. She knew that it was only three bedrooms - so if Josiah wanted to move back home out of Trixi's apartment, he'd have to share a room with Kale. Kale would enjoy that, though.. until Josiah brought a girl over. But you know what! Casey and Kale can share a room. Eff yeah. Casey heard a familiar buzzing and looked around. "There's a fly around here...." Casey's eyes narrowed and she peered around the area of her and Noa
                      suspiciously.

User ImageOh. Right. Back on track. "You don't have to be married to move in together." Casey tipped her head. She didn't want to see how things went, with them being together all the time, before she got married? Perhaps Casey's idea of settling with one person forever and ever included extensive testing of how well they'd get along when everything was said and done. ... In other words, take things slow as hell. That's not how anybody she knew did it, either, so it must be a personal view through and through. "Well, it's not like you plan on getting married before you graduate anyway, so, I think you have time to be too busy to plan it." she replied. Besides, if she continued to get to be too busy, then she could just hire some other girl to do it, then take out the frustration of how busy she is on the woman like the people on TV. Casey watches too much TV. "Yeah, it does. But my mom thinks I'm special, so, oh well." Moms. Moms think she's special. Her brothers think she's a piece of work, for sure, in the most hateful yet loving way ever.

"Well I'm sure you can still teach them a lot, even if they don't have extra help, they still have you -- " CLAP Casey swiftly slammed her palms together in the air, and when she pulled her hands back, a dead fly dropped to the grass. "-- Take that you devil-species! If Jolt was here he'd consume your corpse and absorb your un-used mana-bar like the little source-stealing-fiend he is.." she wiped her hands on her shorts. "Sorry. ... Their buzzing is just so loud to me.." Casey wasn't afraid of bugs. She wasn't afraid of spiders. She didn't like flies, or anything really that did much buzzing. Including hummingbirds. What is near silent to humans, unless close to their ear, is like hearing that annoying kid a few seats away from you in class tapping his pencil on the desk while you're trying to focus on your very important test. Annoying. Frustrating. You get it.
Change the subject, Casey! "So, uh... Do you like.. turtles?" .. Social skills: 0.

Right now I'm feeling content Spending time with Casey You'll see me in the courtyard Rocking those suspenders

xxxxIt seemed like Casey wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from this whole ‘bonding as a family’ apartment thing. Not that Noa could really blame her honestly, she doesn’t know how she would feel in this situation. I mean, she doesn’t even know the circumstances under which Casey was adopted. Do she and Ms. Hartman have a healthy relationship? How does she fair with Kale and Josiah? There was a lot that could contribute to how she felt and Noa didn’t know, nearly half of it. Noa raised a curious eyebrow. “What do you mean, you don’t do well?” Doesn’t do too well on her own? Then wouldn’t moving in with her family make sense? Now Noa was slightly perplexed. Not getting along with Ms. Hartman? Yeah, this had been an earlier theory. That they enjoyed the space the living in the school offered them. Don’t wanna deal with your family? You weren’t limited to the four walls of your house like she had been. There’s only but so far you can go in a house without leaving when you’re generally angry at your father and brother. And they know exactly where to find you to try and coax you outta your room to come and talk to them, which just makes you even more upset in all honestly. But that wasn’t the case for Casey. She had the entire school to hide in. That was a serious amount of space right there. The school offered copious amounts of space that most females wanted in order to calm down…of course we’d already established that Casey was one of a kind and had a personality all her own. The conventional rules of a female who’s upset, may or may not apply to Casey. “Well I don’t know, maybe you set down some conditions or something. Or maybe even compromise with her. Do something she likes, but in return she has to do something with you that you like, regardless of what it is. But yes, I suppose you’ll just have to wait and see. I do hope everything goes well with this should you chose to go along with her idea.” Seriously. It would suck if they moved in and then realized how much they really hated each other, or just don’t get a long as well as they used to. Only time will tell in this case. Who knows, they could actually end up drawing closer as a family. As much as you few the cons gotta view the pros too, right? There’s two sides to every story after all, right? Right. Even two sides to the fly’s story. Wait, a fly? Noa hadn’t noticed it until Casey mentioned it. As if to make itself known, it buzzed past Noa’s face, making her swat at it with her hands. “Ugh, I know. This is why I look forward to fall. A majority of them go away.” said Noa, swatting at it again before it flew off somewhere. She hated bugs. They were just very annoying. Especially mosquitoes. God, those things were awful. And they bit her all the freakin’ time. Seriously. It was like she had sweet blood or something. Pesky things. She’d be happy when they were gone too.

xxxxNoa nodded her head in agreement with Casey. “Very true. But we’re just so busy with school and work right now. I think if we tried to move in with each other now, we’d just get on each other’s nerves. I’d rather wait for a little while longer. Besides, I don’t know if he wants his sister living with us, but he can’t exactly throw her out. She’s like sixteen. Like I said, we just have to talk it over.” said Noa. She actually hadn’t met Kaminari just yet. Cameron had, which was quite comical. He’d laughed when he realized he met his future sister-in-law without even knowing it. According to her she seemed really nice, albeit lost in the huge school that is Hartman and Bane. But that was to be expected. After all, he met on her first day of school. He just thought she needed a hand and was happy to help her. “Yeah, this is true. And I don’t even know how things are going to work once I graduate as I may have to take a couple graduate courses.” said Noa. But hey, we’ll see. Shiro already promised he wasn’t going anywhere so she at least didn’t have to worry about that…too much anyway. She remembered having a teacher back in high school. She had been engaged for three years before she even started planning a wedding and then got married the following year, for a total of four years of engagement. While Noa didn’t want to wait that long, she didn’t feel quite as bad knowing that some people put off the actual wedding for a good while. Besides, se could always hire a wedding planner if she wanted to, but she honestly wanted to plan it herself. A wedding planner was the last resort back up plan, if she needed one. “Oh? Well if your mom thinks you’re special then I guess you don’t have to worry about what other’s think then.” said Noa chuckling. Unless…she meant stolen in a bad way…nah. Ms. Hartman wouldn’t, right? Who knows. Moving on. Noa had been listening to Casey talk about her students again before she suddenly clapped her hands together, startling Noa slightly. The dead fly fell from her hands. Impressive. “No that’s fine. It was starting to annoy me anyway. Here.” said Noa, handing over a small thing of hand sanitizer. You know, since she’d just killed a bug and everything. Nasty little critters carried all sorts of bacteria and junk. Better safe than sorry. Turtles? She…supposed she didn’t hate them. So I guess she liked them? “They’re alright, I suppose. Fast little buggers too. A kid in high school had one and he used to show videos of it running around his room. I didn’t know they moved so fast out of water.”

Now that Casey had bug-guts on her hands, the idea of trying to eat her pudding wasn't favorable. She was gross - in a boyish sort of way - but not gross enough to willingly devour bug-guts along with chocolate pudding. No thanks. She'd eaten fried worms, and grasshoppers before.. but they were cooked for the actual meaning to be eaten. Not raw, squished fly. Gross. She missed Jolt, Jolt would have chased the fly, caught it, and devoured it happily. With his wagging little tail, and then the little douche-monkey would try to give her bug-flavored-kisses. "Oh... Uhhh..." Lie. Lielielielielielielie. "I just.. like.. You know, I get, like.." she had to pause. Curses. Why does she suck at lying? Every other girl - and boy - she knows can lie as if it was seriously the truth! Casey can't! Why? Why is this? "... What did I say? -- Whoah! .. Look at this.. blade of grass. It's honestly the longest here, looks like they missed this with the lawn-mower." and then she totally effed up her distraction. Mentally, Casey was strangling herself with some piano wire, with the intent of chopping herself into pieces, burring them in concrete and dropping them into the ocean. She could have came up with something better, but it seems as if her brain is just not willing to work with her.

She cleared her throat. "Yeah, well, she's not a bad person or anything. I could give it a shot, but all the work would go to waste if I didn't want to be there. Or if Kale doesn't wanna be there." she replied. Sarah, as a mom, was definitely not a bad person. She had her kids' goals set for them, in some ways, as if she yelled at Josiah for getting a bad grade in his math class and demanded an hour of his time after class to study. And then she even told him that he should be more careful with what he and Trixi do - because they're too young to reproduce. .. Casey was there. She heard it... and couldn't finish her food. It could not be un-heard. She was also pretty protective. Especially of Kale. She didn't want him in a relationship, saying he wasn't in a good condition to understand the dynamics of one. Casey and her brothers have been told that while living at her foster home. Her brothers weren't allowed to date till they were eighteen, and at the time, it was a rule for her too. One she definitely had no desire to break. Her brothers tried, and most got away with it. Till the girlfriends were found and the brothers were grounded. "I dunno. Jolt might like the extra space to run around in."

User Image"Oh! I didn't know he had a sister n stuff. Good point, though." That would be awkward for the whole party, if big brother brought his almost-wife home to stay with them forever and ever and little sister had to deal with it or G.T.F.O. Yeah. That was mean and awkward. "Time flies though. It might seem like it'll take forever to graduate and get your degree and stuff, but, really, it might just be right around the corner. So if the both of you decided to wait until then, then I'm sure things will be fine." she shrugged. She wasn't one to talk about boy problems, really. She wasn't the type to be all, dramatically rubbing a girl's back, "He loves you! This I know!" blah blah blah, but, whatever. It's not totally what she's doing. She just left out anything that might sound bad when stating facts like a good person who has no social interaction skills. When Noa offered her hand sanitizer, Casey grinned and accepted some. She loved hand-sanitizer. She used it when she didn't need to, because it felt funny on her hands, and the smell was soooo great. She loved it. It made no sense why she loved it, but, it made no sense why she loved the smell of diesel fuel either.

As she rubbed the hand sanitation gel on her hands. "Nah, they're not really that slow. Cartoons over-exaggerate everything. I was disappointed though when I found out they're not that slow." Like a normal boy would, Casey had gone poking around in the pond out-back near the woods in her family's camp-site. Out in the middle of the woods, and a pond, it wasn't the cleanest, but after her and her brothers searched they found fifteen frogs, three turtles, two water-snakes, and Casey had her toes attacked by a bunch of fish. It was great. But the point is, they found turtles, and they did what anyone else would do. They made them race for their amusement. Casey's bet lost, the little turtle hid in his shell the whole time like a coward, but, she still learned how fast they really did move. "My favorite turtle ever is Raphael." she stated as a matter of factly, nodding after she did so. She quickly re-adjusted her binds, then went back to rubbing the hand sanitizer on her hands.

x x xJun let out a light sigh as he walked out from his last class of the day, his guitar at his back as his books vanished into a black wisp of smoke from under his arm. Well... that was the only one he had for the day. His schedule was remarkably spacey for this semester, with all of his late-start classes not coming up for another month or so. And aside from walking out from the class, his sister had called him as soon as Kang dismissed them. Yes, he was in math this semester. Trigonometry, to be exact. Not like that was of much importance at the moment. "You know, Kuya, Tay's been thinking about renovating the shop again," his twin sister's voice sounded from the speaker. Jun still hadn't changed his phone settings to lower the volume when he was on the phone from somewhere, so he held it a few inches away from his face. He always found it to be much better to keep it at that volume during the days of new moons, when he never found it to be as loud as it was on normal days. His ears were just picking up all the sound loudly and clearly, twitching ever so slightly at each word. "Not as many people have been interested in the place as an antique shop anyway, so he was thinking about just keeping things around for display. He might want to set up something like a small homestyle diner. You know how much he likes cooking, anyway." "I don't think that'll be too bad, actually," he said thoughtfully with a nod. "As long as his licensing for the business goes through, and the place is sustainably cleaned, he should go for it. I'll come by to help if you two need it." Well... he could always go any time just to check on their father, but it wasn't always necessary to do so. Tito James was always around the shop on his off hours from his job, or his dad was hanging out with him and Tita Mimi next door at their place when nobody was around. Jun heard a giggle from Lam's end though. "Oh JunJun, you barely ever come out here on your own." Jun only scoffed. "Yeah I do! I walk over there on my breaks!" Lam laughed again, before another voice in the background interrupted. "Oh! I gotta go now, Kuya. I'll see you later! You better come back here for a while!"

Aaaand then she hung up. Jun let out a small huff out of habit as he slid his phone back into his pocket, nonchalantly deciding to wander to the picnic area with all the tables, since he didn't feel like sitting in the grass. Nobody there in sight, which he found to be a good thing. Not like he minded randomly having company anyway. Instead of sitting on the bench, he found himself sitting on the tabletop instead, using the bench as a footrest instead as he lifted his guitar to bring it around and in front of him. He hadn't tuned it in a while, so.... yeah, he should just start on that. Enough with thinking about it. If he didn't have homework to do yet, this was what he was gonna be up to until then.

Valen, too, was finding himself in the middle of a phone call with his sibling. Of course, rather than upbeat - or sarcastic and evil like usual - it was toned with sadness. "I can't do this s**t." the voice from the other side of the phone said. Even though the woman the voice belonged to was obviously upset, and had obviously been crying, perhaps a few tears while having the conversation, she tried to hide it. So Valen tried not to bring it up. Veronica was never the type to cry - but she had just lost her best friend. Packed Iris up, and went to Fairhope to the funeral. "Your friend wanted you to have Iris if something like this happened. She knew you could do it, why do you think she'd stress it to you so much?" Valen tried to "comfort" the cactus-like sister of his. The only response he got was silence, though there was a bit of a wind from where she was. He could hear Iris in the background, close enough for Valen to think Veronica was holding her. "She was human, Veronica. You're immortal. Now, or forty years from now, you'd be at her funeral." "You have no idea what this is like for me. This blonde-b***h's done so much for me, and I'm standing over her god-damn grave, Valen. And all you can say to me is, "She was going to die anyway"? You're a real fuggin' treat, you know that?"

Valen could never win. He was surprised he even bothered. Instead, he watched people walking around in the courtyard for a minute, licked his lips, and replied. "When do you get home?" "Should I go back? What's the friggin point?" "Oh, well, I don't know. Your apartment. Your job. College. Your friends." "I'm immortal, Valen, they're human. Now, or forty years from now, I'll be without them anyway." she spit his words back at him. He sighed, scribbling in his notebook. He was frustrated, because she was acting out like she normally did when she was upset. She was saying s**t she didn't mean, and thinking thoughts she'd regret thinking. "I'll be home soon." "Good. We can talk more then." "I don't wanna talk about it anymore." "Oh yes, that's a good idea. Let's bottle up more of your obvious issues so you can explode and end up in jail or the hospital again. Is it so impossible for you to open yourself up? If not you a doctor, to your bloody brother? For ******** sake, Veronica. You have no problem opening your legs, but when it comes to opening your freaking mouth you hesitate more than anyone I know." there was a noise at the other end of the phone.

If Valen wasn't sober; he wouldn't have recognized it. It was... a sob-sound, before the click of the phone being hung up. Well. The good news is, Valen was getting through to her. He cracked the shell of b***h that was weakened from this event, and maybe, now, she would talk. Maybe now, her soft, cuddly core would be exposed for him to console like a good older brother. Some people just need that push, that nudge to realization they can't be strong all the time, to realize they need help. Veronica was one of those people. He might have just gotten through to her. With a sigh, he hung up his phone, turning to the boy tuning his guitar nearby. No longer was he upset by it - because it had been hard to hear Veronica when he was on the phone and the kid was plucking at his guitar strings. "I'd give anything to hear a happy, upbeat song, if you know any." he commented.

Curs eher mixed feelings about this woman. "No! No, please. Don't be sorry! It wasn't your fault. It's not like I don't like being touched. I enjoy it!" wow... that came out wrong... "Wait. That's not what I meant. Just... Don't worry about me freaking out over you touching me. You just... wasn't expecting it... That's all..." she said, trying to turn her incoherent rambling to a rational thought. Gods... She was just a mess today. She promised herself not to let someone affect her like this but, Sarah had a way. Even if she was totally oblivious to it. That's probably what made her secretly hate the woman slightly, yet at the same time, want her even more. Cat shook the thought out of her head. So she didn't have a date. "Whatya mean never been good? Your gorgeous, Sarah. I'm pretty sure you could have any man... or woman... you want. Besides, a woman your age shouldn't still be single. Especially if you have... what? Three children?" she asked the woman, not really realizing how intrusive or offensive it might be. Cat was blunt with everything she said, She didn't care if anyone didn't like what she said. "Me? No... I have no date either... But, I don't care. I'm with you, I don't need someone else to have a good time. But, yeah, I'll be at the dance. Don't worry..." she said, flashing the woman a smile.
