A woman with grey hair and golden eyes walked up to the front of the Hall. She held herself in a proud way, as many wolves did and in a clear voice everyone in the place could hear she said

"All of you gathered here today are the privileged few that have received the honor of attending the Crimson Crusader's Academy. And whatever your reason for being here is...you still must abide by our traditions and that is being paired with a human or werewolf, respectively, and you must work together in order to maintain peace within our kingdom. It is our solemn duty to protect those who can not protect themselves. That is the Crusader way. Now, just because you are here does not guarantee you the name of Crusader, you must earn that as a pair. Yes, that's right, as a pair! If you can not work with your partner you may as well walk out those doors because you will not survive on your own. We work with our partners because together we can slay creatures of Nether, not alone.

As you know, the next step, and for some the most exciting, is the pairing ceremony. We leave it up to the fates to pair you, those that do not find one will be escorted out of the academy. The first Nether creature you kill with a member of the opposite race will be paired. It means you are capable of coordinating together, it means you are on the same level of thinking. It runs much deeper than some of you may understand. Once you are paired a spell will activate that will direct you back here, to the academy.

In a moment doors will open on either side of the hall, and for each one of you they will transport to a random location within the Witherwood Forest. Even if you walk through the same door you will still be separated. From there you must survive, it may take some of you only moments, for others it may take the entirety of the 48 hours we will give you. After those 48 hours if you are not paired then it is over. And those of you who are will be assigned dorm rooms with your partner and begin your studies the day after next. I wish you all the best of luck, werewolves and humans, do not take this lightly for the Nether creatures will not hesitate to cut you down."

Once her speech ended she raised a hand, a soft light emitting from it and six double doors on both sides of the Grand Hall opened up, bright light pouring from all of them. Some students don't hesitate to walk through while others slowly trickle it. The pairing ceremony has begun.

The Fox is running for its dinner...

Saber was nearly jumping for joy when the teachers started the ceremony for pairing. He couldn't wait to get out and find a partner, he hoped whoever it was would be a good match for him. If Saber had a tail, it would be wagging right now. After it ended, he saw a lot of hesitation in students, and a little bit of initiative. Saber was one of the people with initiative.

"Finally, we can start. I wish you luck with your pairing, Alina. I hope we have class sometime after it's all said and done. It was good meeting you. See you later!" Saber said cheerfully with a smile. He put two fingers up in a peace symbol before turning to leave. He ran through the crowd, ducking through people quickly and gracefully before reaching the door. No one had left yet, so he'd take the plunge first. Without another second wasted, he ran through the door and disappeared.

Saber found himself in a dense forest that reminded him a lot of his home. He had grown up in the forests with his family, so he wasn't scared in the slightest. Tall trees and lush bushes were all around him, and the first thing his did was take a large wiff of the air. "Ahh, so much fresher. This will be fun." With that said, he started walking.

I worked too hard to be where I am now...

"See you on the other side, Saber, I'm sure you'll be fine." Alina gave him a salute and went up to the door next to his, looking in to the blinding white light a grin on her face. Now she gets to show what she's made of...She leapt through the doorway and became enveloped in the light, feeling it's power like weight on her skin. For a few seconds she just felt like she was falling, then she felt the ground come up fast beneath her. Tucking herself she rolled on the grass and back up to her feet. The tattoos on her arms began to glow and bleed down her arm until they formed diamond-hard claws at the end of her arms. She scanned the tree line opening up her senses and slowing her breathing.

She would beat their 48 hours, she'd exceed all expectations and, hopefully, make a partner and a friend. The sound of a river could be heard in the distance; well, that was a good enough place as any to begin. She began jogging towards the river, her boots silently padding across the grass and the open air giving life to her senses. "I'll have to be careful...if I encounter a Netherbeing on my own it might be a bit tricky to take it down...find a wolf...or at least another person temporarily."

Mohaki actually grinned when the she-wolf stood in front of the gathering and began to speak. Finally, we will be going soon. She thought to herself, her wolfish grin causing those nearest to her to edge away. There was really no reason for them to be nervous, but she had this predatory gleam in her eyes that just triggered their 'danger-stay-away' instinct. She was excited, and that sent her blood boiling. She may not have been pleased with having to come here, or the state of the air in this hall, but she couldn't have been more pleased with the prospect of a good fight. With her travels, she didn't have any time to indulge her...more feral urges. Fighting is a common pastime for her pack, and she was no exception. They were friendly matches, nor serious maiming or killings, but it was a simple and effective way to keep their violent tendencies under control. She loved fighting, lived for it almost. It was one of the few things that made life worth living, that coupled with the freedom to run for miles and the comfort of her pack. Well, I guess I'll just have to hope that my partner is enough from now on... She thought to herself, waiting with growing eagerness for the pairing ceremony to finally get under way.

Thankfully, the woman finished talking, and six double-doors opened up; bright light pouring from them. Mohaki didn't hesitated. The moment they opened, she danced through the crowd of hopeful students towards the nearest door, jumping into the light without a second's hesitation. Waiting and worrying would only prolong the inevitable. Though, that didn't stop a shot of fear of jolting through her as she felt like she was falling. She hated falling. Luckily, it was only for a brief moment before the she-wolf felt the ground beneath her feet again. Unlike most people, she didn't roll when her feet touched the ground. She landed in a crouch, tense and prepared for anything to jump out at her. Her senses were strained, looking for any sign of danger. After a few seconds of tense waiting. Nothing. Taking a brief moment to calm her racing heart, she gathered her surroundings. Dense forest was around her. Taking a scent of the air, there hints of water quite a ways away, but other than that; just the freshness of the earth.

She smiled gleefully to herself after a few seconds, then full on laughed. She didn't care now if she alerted anything to her presence. Still laughing, she began to shift. She grew in height, and build, and hair...Lots of more hair. It covered her entire body now, which was now well over seven feet tall, a huge difference from her 5'4" human frame. Fierce blue eyes stared into the awaiting forest with hunger; daring anything the attack her. Wolfish lips pulled back in a snarl, revealing teeth designed for one thing; killing. Her hands were now clawed weapons, as were her feet. She swept her tail slowly, clearing herself of the tattered remains of her outfit. She wouldn't need cloths again until she left the forest. She was ready to get this party started now. The most dangerous time would be when she first arrived. But now? Now, she was ready for anything. Now, she was the predator, and the creatures of the Nether were her prey. She just had to find her partner while hunting...Simple.

Mohaki howled her challenge to the forest, then took off running, a white blur in the dark of the forest.

Just because you can't see it.

In silence he stayed quietly to himself till finally at the rather loud sounding female voice the muscle in his hears pointed upwards in the slight awareness of the conversation that he had been waiting for this whole time. 'Finally,' still with out motion though the young looking boy stayed in his current stance as he listened to the conversation picking out the key words of how the pairing system would work. 'Great so basically this is going to be left to whom ever just happens to cross my path hmm?' This would actually turn out to be interesting after all. The sounds of the hinges from the six doors creaked open at the end of the meeting and this time he opened his eye's and looked around. A few of the student's taking quick action to head out into the blinding light ready to prove themselves only made him laugh inside.

However not as much as the group of kid's almost to nervous to go did though. With out excitement nor nervousness he steadily headed for the closest door to him. Disappearing into the light followed by a brief falling sensation Kale soon found himself far from the grand hall. He was in some unknown location out in the forest just like the teacher said the student's would end up for this part of the schooling. Scanning his immediate vicinity he saw nothing alarming and therefore relaxed. If it was a survival thing the first thing that came to his mind was search for water of any kind.

He wouldn't imminently going looking for a human partner just yet for they had 48 hours to complete the trial and it would be a matter of time before one stumbled across his path or so he thought. Closing his eye's the young werewolf (wolf- shifter) started isolating all the sounds around him. It wasn't till he heard the light trickling of water rolling down pebbles that he figured it was a creek and after opening his eye's again headed off in a south-easterly direction. His brown boots crunching on the grass and dried leaves of the forest floor as he walked passing tree's and other shrubs but not with out an ear out for sighs of danger that would try to pop out and attack him.

Does that mean it doesn't exist?

One moment she was introducing herself the next thing she knew the woman in charge of this event began the speech. Eden listened carefully to everything she had to say, her life, family's reputation, and future hung in the balance on how she performed out there in the wilderness. It was nothing new to her;"Survival of the fittest"her father always said. He made sure to drill that into her skull traumatizing her several times before they became second nature to her. Alot of people took Eden for granted and underestimated her because of her carefree attitude and not taking life seriously enough in their eyes. Not to mention the fact she was friendly towards anyone, but that was just her nature. She liked the meeting new people and making allies.

After the woman's speech about the event and guidelines said and done with, six double doors opened. Students all around trickled through, some very confident and unafraid, while others took it slow and seemed cautious. If anything Eden was just curious, this was her first time after all. Now she wished she actually listened to her fathers Crimson Crusader stories. It would have prepared her more, at least she would know what to expect. With a positive attitude she ran through doors, "Cowabonga!!"
She found herself in very dense forest with fog looming on the forest floor. "yesh, place gives me the creeps, alright now first rule of survival find a body of water"Eden looked around and heard no water dripping or creek like sounds, "If I can't find water I could check the treetops, this weather feels moist perhaps rain water is collected somewhere..."and with that Eden began to travel by treetop, swing through branches and jumping with carefulness and well balanced maneuvers. A couple times she almost fell, not use to the cold moist air.

Lanah had smiled, was about to open her mouth to speak when a
woman's voice boomed. She looked up and watched with a keen
eye, breathing deeply but steadily. She nodded at Eden before she
started to weave herself through the crowd, knowing that soon the
doors would open, soon this whole thing would really begin. Lanah
was one of the first ones through, she took off in a light jog, keeping
a cautious eye of the area. She had an odd feeling about this place.

She had studied the Nethers, studied methods of attack and defense.
Her guard was up, her eyes scanning constantly for something to pop
up. The girl was afraid, excited and determined. Fear would keep her
on her toes, she didn't mind. There was rustling around her, she was
unsure though about what or who it was. She braced her self, sliding
her hand to her hip. Gripping the hilt of her blade she breathed deep.

It took her a moment to find her voice. "Speak, if you can understand."

The voice that responded clearly didn't. It almost screeched at her.

Just because you can't see it.

As he walking steadily it was like the atmosphere around him suddenly changed. Even for the layer of fog that was sweeping along at the boy's ankle levels the normal sound's of the forest like birds nestling there young and other small creatures moving came to an ominous silence. Which only meant one thing that a predator was near lurking somewhere in the shadows stood some creature so feared that all other creatures would hide and tuck themselves away. His ear's picking up two foot steps followed by a sudden stop caught his attention in an alarming way. Not because he was afraid he couldn't take whatever it was on alone because he wasn't quite sure exactly what the creature was just yet. A low growl then emanated from behind a clenched and powerful jaw.

It was most defiantly a Nether raptor, a fearsome creature not for it's size for one on one this creature could be outwitted without much struggle however it was the type that never worked alone. Another sound occurred it was a raptor like bark for one his head turned to the right for this one was much closer than the one he originally heard. Red gleaming eye's off a few feet from him he saw and as quickly as he could he ducked behind a bush to avoid being seen. Behind him though had been yet a third one they were out searching in a wide span group and he had walked dead center into it. Loud rustling of brush was heard as the one behind him came barreling through the land towards the one that had thought he found something of interest.

It had stumbled upon him and even though he turned in well enough advance to see it coming he had no where to go. The creature letting out a screeching roar to warn the others before snapping forward at him. Tucking and rolling to the side he heard the raptors jaw snap shut so quickly. Without further hesitation he took off running for his life he would be lying if he said his heart was not pounding in his chest right now. As the other two quickly barreled through the forest he was out numbered a three to one ratio. In human form it seemed like the boy just couldn't run fast enough they were too close on him nipping at his heels as they shoved one another fighting for the first bite. At last in a moment of survival instincts he took on his wolf form.

With a jump to the air a faint light glow of lunar light radiated from his body and in a matter of seconds the boy landed on the ground again only this time on four paws and in the form of a sleek brown and mixed gray fur color of a wolf. Running now at much faster speeds than before and with his nose intent of picking up any persons scent at all he made haste across the forest floor. The constant sounds of screeching and raptor barking behind him as the three fighting for a meal still laid a heavy chase with him in there sight's.

Does that mean it doesn't exist?

With all these humans and werewolves that had filled the area, it was hard for miles to pick up his enemies scent. It was only till everyone began to move towards the doors, when he noticed somone brushing through the other students. Miles squinted his eyes while taking a closer look at the males face, but miles couldnt recognize the boy from anywhere. It was only when miles turned his head to face to east side of the school, was when he caught kales image, that was when miles spotted his sworn enemy. Miles couldn't believe how irresponsible his allies were, 5 of his men were in the area and not one had made effort to attack.

Instead, they actually let him slip through a door. It would seem that certain missions were left to those who possessed courage and lacked fear, rather than those who are far to weak at heart. Mlies didnt wast a second before bursting out of his skin, revealing the golden haird beast he was, and charged his way towards kale, leaping through the same door seconds before kale vanished. The area miles had appeared in was misty and dull, with absolutely no one around. Miles scanned his nearby surroundings and found himself dumbfounded to exactly where he was. Trees had inhabited the area, and a soft voice of wind carried its way past the golden haird beast. Suddenly the woman's voice in the announcement replayed in his mind,

In rage, miles blow air out from his nose, and growled before letting out a howl.

Alina was busily kneeling next to the river looking at some fresh prints, it was definitely a Nether creature, the area stank of their darkness. She raised her head when she heard the shriek of a terrible beast and she immediately got to her feet. It sounded like there were a lot of them...those things rarely ever traveled alone, that's what made them so dangerous. She heard another cry and began running in that direction, her black claws stretching out in excitement. Already she could feel her blood pumping, she was hoping for a good fight.

It didn't take her long to spot the group of raptors running through the trees, intent upon a target that she didn't quite catch in time. Well, whoever it was needed help and she wasn't going to stand by idly while they were in danger. Quickly scaling a tree she began leaping from one to another, following the hunting group from above. She took a few moments to come in line with the first of the party. Maybe she wouldn't be able to kill it, but she could break their focus at least for a second. Without a second thought she pounced down at the raptor at the head of the group, wrapping a claw around the its neck and pushing it to the ground. Her claws managed to cut in deep, but it only angered the beast as it thrashed on the ground snapping it jaws angrily at her.

Alina felt teeth cut in to her arm and she barely rolled out of the way of its jaws. She skidded across the grass, staying in a low crouch. The chase had stopped, but the danger was still there.

Under her breath, Lanah said some very choice words. She spun around, hearing
a figure crashing through the forest. She knew that she was dealing with the raptor,
she knew they hunting in vicious packs. She pulled her sword from its sheath, her
eyes scanning her surroundings for movement. There was a moment of eerie quiet,
then a series of loud screeches and howls. A wolf rushed at her, she eyed it with a
sneer but prepared to fight along side it. Despite the urge to stab him in the back.

She held out her sword, the steel gleaming proudly even in the dark wood. With a
cry she lunged at the first raptor that moved for her, slashing at the beasts face as
it snapped at her. It recoiled and called out to the rest, calling for blood. She looked
over to the wolf, her eyes narrowed and her jaw tight. She did not need him here.

Or so she thought.

The blow hit her hard and sent her flying into the ground, a form over top of her. A
set of teeth were inches from her face, opened into a wicked grin. In a mocking way
the raptor snapped at her, the same one she had just sliced. Blood dripped down to
fall on Lanah's skin and clothes. To her it smelled almost like rotten meat. Screaming
she looked over to the wolf, while blocking those teeth with her sword. Steel cut into
her hands, but she could hardly focus on the pain. "Get this thing off of me, stupid!"

Just because you can't see it.

Being chased down by the group of raptors was no fun task and it for one was also not a great way to start out the pairing trial or so he thought. As he was running he caught sight of someone in a tree but only a small glance. He had no time to stop when the shadowy figure leap down and took out the raptor closest to him knocking one right out of the chase. A few feet further he was wanting to turn back but nearly toppled into another girl. Dashing himself around to her back side she had pulled out a blade and caught the second one's teeth but was overpowered and was now pinned to ground.

Sliding himself to an unbalanced stop the wolf was facing the girl as she was struggling just to keep it's jaws from crushing her in one swell bite. Wondering about the other figure that had came to his aid as well Kale was unsure of what action to take next when the voice of the girl closest to him called out asking for help though she did it rudely he couldn't just leave her to die. Though the thought did cross his mind but only for a slight second as he braced himself. His upper lips of his snout pulling back as he growled towards the girl and the raptor. Pushing off his paws he then ran back towards it and leaped for it's neck catching it at it's side.

His sharp canines pierced into it's thick and leathery but scale like hide as the force from his pounce pushed the raptor over on it's side. Instantly falling and with the force of his jump Kale was flung clear over it's body and skid turning around his back defensive hair's up as he was now growling both him and the raptor as they were like in a face off with each other as the third raptor had finally made the scene. Though now he had an ally or two with him they weren't quite in the clear just yet. They needed to come up with a battle plan and fast.

Does that mean it doesn't exist?

Jumping through the trees, Eden managed to find some cavities in the trees filled with rain water. Now stocked up with water, she was on the hunt for a good vantage point to see exactly where she was, however she got spooked when she heard a really loud howl and resulted in her slipping and landing on a lower branch. "Oww..."she huffed and was about jump off again when she heard a snorting sound next to her and hot breathe against her neck. eek shock was her first emotion. slowly she turned her head and came face to face with a Nether Ursa. it lowly growled at her as drool slipped down it's mouth while baring its teeth. Eden starred until finally reacting when it almost tried to swing a large paw at her. "WHOA!" she jumped off the branch landing like a ninja on the forest floor. She was barely able to catch her breathe before running off again with the Ursa hot on her tail.

Eden pulled out her weapon of choice, "Alright Kusarigama don't fail me now!" "HIYA!!!" Wielding her weapon as she spun the chain weight, she managed to gain a small enough distance to plunge the weight to the Ursa's eye causing it to bleed and stop him for a brief moment. however that only fueled its anger and again she found herself running away screaming like ridiculous little girl. She needed a plan, Fast!!
