»»»I'm wandering the halls.
»»»I'm only with me, myself, and I
»»»I want something to nibble on...

A lengthy figure, covered in black from neck to toe, stepped lightly onto the rough and grainy surface that was, in fact, a rooftop. This rooftop in particular was somewhat small in size, a round circular platform of a tower that is very similar to the stone keep type of design of castle. In the middle of the rooftop was a square wooden/metal door on the floor with a hatch for opening it. Once opened it led to a small and slightly cramped stony dark staircase and from there, to an office.

The figure had been out for a morning...fly. Just to get himself awake and start the day with a beautiful sight of the scenery and the feeling of freedom in the sky.
It was a very cloudy morning but thankfully the clouds were high up enough to only cover the sun and not the tips of the school's structure. Even so, the pale morning sun managed to leak out of its cloudy restraints into small gapes, pouring down to the mountains and the lake below. The weather could be considered chilly for that morning but not to the figure on top of the roof. Although he disliked the rain and snow, a cold temperature in the air always helped him reawaken his mind from his tired body in the morning. In any case, it would be warmer as the day progressed as he had learned from the local forecasters that it was estimated to be in the high 60s today.

The figure walked steadily towards the grounded door in the center of the rooftop, stretching the tips of his black gloves to loosen them from his hands and then taking them off completely and pushing them down in the thick and deep pockets of his long black tattered traveling coat. His hands were pale, grey in color near the shadowing in between his gingers and his knuckles. His fingers were much longer then a human's, but also wider in width if he spreaded them out as well. His fingernails were sharp an grew like claws, adding more length to his fingers. They were trimmed short compared to how he usual kept them, wanting to look...right...for his new students that evening.
Three other things that were peculiar about this specific figure was the thin, deep red, leathery bat like wings portruding from his back and clothing. They were long and thin, like his fingers but were much stronger then they looked. He could even manipulate their size to a varying degree thanks to a little spirit energy. On the sides of his head was the same kind of skin on his wings, ears that he could fan out open or leave them in relaxed droopy position. They had numerous piercings on both ears, closer to where a normal person would have their earlobes pierced. Also worth noting was his deep red hair and eyes and his long pointed tail, similar to that of a mainstream "devil". All bodily features matched in color, the same rusty crimson.

His wings relaxed instantly and folded against his back rather snugly, his tail curved and slightly wagging to the sides as he walked.

Calcifer opened the hatch and jumped down onto the first step, letting go of the door he held up and watching it shut with a loud clanging sound. He then turned forward in the dimly lighted stairwell and briskly flitted down stairs. Once at the bottom, he opened a old and carved wooden door, moved in his office room and moved aside, letting go of the door to be shut behind him. He continued to walk to the back part of his quarters, to his large walk in closet all while removing the his black traveling coat. He reached moved aside some other articles of clothing aside on the rack and reached out for the coat hanger and hanging it up. He did this with all of his outerwear and re dressed himself until he was clothed in a simple pure white collared button up shirt, tucked into black dress pants with black dress shoes. He pulled a black office jacket from another hanger, squirmed his arms through the holes and buttoned it up halfway. All finished with his favorite red tie.

Calcifer wasn't usually to keen to dress up for his job as headmaster but first day equaled first impressions. The less parents took their children out of his Academy for being a unprofessional nut case the better.

After he was finished grooming himself, he left his living area and went back into his office, putting on a pair of thick black rimmed glasses that made his eyes look slightly bigger in size through the lenses. He started to rummage through a filing cabinet on the south wall of his office when he heard the familiar voice of Genieveve float through the room from the intercom. He chuckled shortly, his voice deep and crackling as he half way listened to her announcements, exposing a dazziling set of sharp and pointed teeth that were white as bone. He felt sorry for the new girl, Cindy. She was the new secretary and had to learn everyone's little quirks and needs. It wasn't easy, especially at a school for...the unordinary. He finally got the paper he was looking for and pulled it out, holding it with one hand while with his other hand he adjusted his glasses. It was his guidelines for tonight at the evening banquet.

For about fifty years Calcifer was probably...not the best man for the job as headmaster believe it or not. He was always overly unorganized with his words to his students, ending up scaring them, confusing them, or even getting them angry. He had never done any kind of teaching before...or any job that took so much free will away. He had to be careful with how he acted,dressed,talked...everything. He realized it was all worth it though and he steadily got better with it. In the past he had said whatever random words he could stir up at the Welcoming Banquet but he had been pressed to be more direct by his colleagues. Now he always wrote down a short outline to make sure he stayed on track and not go off telling embarrassing but tearfully hilarious stories of teachers he hated in the past.

He folded the piece of paper up and put it in the inside of his jacket before he decided to go see what kind of tasty treats were in the cafeteria. He didn't need to eat being partly Shinigami but he did enjoy it nonetheless. Its not like he could ever gain any health problems by it either! It was a win win situation and another reason why he praised whatever created him for letting him not be a full fire demon. Figuratively speaking of course.

It took him about ten more minutes before he was out the door and traveling down the levels of Somnium to the dining hall on the second floor. His school was bare except for the occasional teacher or staff member. He glanced at a clock once he was on the forth floor and saw that it was getting near a quarter to 8. Classes started at 8:30. He silently predicted that many of his new students would be late to their first class...but even he couldn't see into the future.

“Guten Morgen! Wo ist der Bahnhof?” (“Good morning! Where is the train station?”) Odette found herself relieved when she landed in the airport in Austria. It was lucky that her mother had taught her to speak German despite the fact that they lived in Paris, for finding her way around was immensely easier knowing the language. And there was also the fact that there were thoughts of others swarming through her head twenty at a time, jumbling one another in their struggle to be heard by her. They were in all different languages, some English, some German, others French or Spanish even. It was beginning to give her a bit of a migraine right over her left eye. When she got to this elusive school, perhaps she would spend a little while in the dark of her dorm, resting her eyes and clearing her mind a little bit. Or trying to anyway.

After retrieving her luggage from the baggage claim, she made her way to the train station to catch the train that would carry her on the last leg of her journey. Again, she found that she couldn’t escape the thoughts of the other passengers, but she tried to ignore them as she watched the vast countryside pass her window. They were certainly heading somewhere interesting weren’t they? Though she was a sophomore in high school, Odette had just received an invitation to Somnium Academy, where they would help her with the problems plaguing her. She’d told her parents it was a very exclusive arts school where she would be taught ballet by the best teachers in the world. Of course, that wasn’t true. But she would continue practicing dance on her own so her mother wouldn’t notice anything. As long as she never found out what Odette was. Odette’s parents and her seven brothers were all normal. Nobody else seemed to display the number of issues she had. So she found it crucial to keep it to herself lest they all think her mad.

When the train stopped, Odette ducked her head so she could see the full magnificence of the castle standing before her. It was like nothing she’d ever seen before. This was where she was going to be living for the next school year? It was absolutely amazing. Retrieving her bags from the trunk, she immediately pushed herself forward, eager to become part of the school’s populace. Glancing down at her watch, she noted that it was quarter to eight, giving her time to get a map and find her dorm before getting herself some breakfast. What with all of the voices she’d been hearing on the plane, she hadn’t been able to eat a damn thing. Now she was nearly starving and viciously tired after waking so early to catch the plane.

So she did just this, finding the main office easily enough to get herself a map of the school. It was really quite large, but she was sure that in a matter of days she would know it like the back of her hand. Optimistically she walked in the direction the map revealed would lead her to her dorm. Once she found it, she realized that her roommate had not yet arrived and deigned to choose the bed closer to the window for herself. She didn’t mind the idea of sharing a room with another person, as she was used to sharing with rowdy, dirty boys—her dear brother whom she loved and adored but had no desire to listen to their snores all night. Placing her bags on the floor, she decided that she would unpack them after classes (and probably after a good nap).

After freshening up her makeup and straightening out her pink floral dress, she located the map and began heading towards the dining hall. Odette had heard that there was going to be some kind of banquet for the first day of school, so she decided to look extra nice. Besides, she didn’t know what the dress code was at this school. Better safe than sorry. Though there were days were she liked to go around in jeans and a t-shirt with a pair of espadrilles, part of Odette loved dressing up in this frilly ultra-feminine sort of way. Most who knew her and her brothers were surprised when she dressed up like this. The same happened when people found out she was actually quite a good ballet dancer.

Odette was elated when she found the dining hall. It was filled with tables and chairs and food and students. Students. That meant the thoughts of students as well. But she didn’t care so much as she made her way to get herself something to eat. She’d decided on a bowl of mixed fruit and some toast. She normally stayed away from carbohydrates, but she knew her body needed the energy. With it, she took a little plate of scrambled eggs, as she would also need a bit of protein to get through the day. Odette was very strict with her diet in order to keep thin and lithe. Otherwise, dancing wouldn’t be a possibility in her future. Nobody wanted even average sized ballerinas these days. They had to be under the triple digit mark or they were bust. So, taking her selection to the table with the least people, she began eating, relieved to finally be filling her stomach.

»»»I'm wandering the halls.
»»»I'm only with me, myself, and I
»»»Going to go stalk some children(! ! !)

Calcifer stepped lightly through the open and secluded halls, corridors and staircases as he made his way to the dining hall. He hummed a smooth and soft tune, his hands in his dress pants pockets and his red wings were unmoving against his back. They looked skinny and frail but this was only for them to not be a nuisance and get in anyone's way. By using spirit energy he could make them much wider and longer when he needed to use them for flying. Spirit energy indeed was a remarkable thing. He could use it on so many objects and people in so many ways. It was similar to magic except spirit energy was everywhere and magic was only given to ceartin people. That being said, only a certain people could manipulate spirit energy. It was a complex thing to be sure, and Calcifer was much more interested in grabbing some fresh sweet fruit or maybe a sour apple tart from the kitchens.

He was humming a song by Stevie Wonder of all people. "Superstition". Definitely a upbeat song and something that made a person want to smile. He figured it was an appropriate song to have stuck in his head for the first day of the new school year. He had listened to every kind of music out there and had grown up through it all in his 600 plus years of life. Of course that didn't just go for music but practically every part of his life. Literature, Philosophy, Science...in these respects and more he felt truly blessed to be gifted with long life.

Calcifer walked down the last few steps of stairs to the second floor and in about two minutes, was walking through the incredibly large wooden doors to the dining hall. A rush of scents wafted him in the face as he peered into the elegant hall, his eyes brushing over each head seated at the tables for students. He smiled a little, happy to see young adults once again in his school after the long quiet summer. Calcifer then realized his glasses were still on his face and abruptly took them off and pocketed them, his heartbeat jumping up a little and started walking forward once again after taking in the sights and sounds. He was glad that the dining hall hadn't changed yet thank goodness but that was only because someone always seemed to be in this room, eating most likely, to control it.

The way Somnium was designed was actually to keep out...bad people. To trap or at least debilitate them and keep them from the schools secrets. But after awhile modifications had to be made for the upkeep of the school. It was too much to ask for students to stay out of some rooms and to remember another rooms rotational schedule around the school and so on and so forth, so in 1859 Calcifer and his friends had worked on it a little more to make it easier and safer for students. He had his staff have different schedules and locations during the night and day and so far things had worked out fine.

He made his way to where the food was served, thankfully it wasn't very crowded since it seemed most people were already in the middle of eating. The way it was set up was simple and efficient. The plates were set atop of the dining tables and as soon as a person took a bowl of oatmeal for example, the same dish would reappear. It wasn't even part of the Kitchen, just the school transferring the food from it.

Calcifer grabbed a bowl and filled it to the brim with blackberries before he walked over to the headmasters high chair and sat down, able to see everyone seated in front of him. He popped the dark blue berry into his mouth, letting his fang like teeth pierce it, the sweet tangy juice spilling over his tongue. He saw a few students glance his way but look hurriedly away. Some of them looked horrified, some looked angry, others were laughing and smiling but most of them looked shy...especially the ones seated close to no one. Calcifer sighed softly and closed his eyes briefly while he threw another berry into his mouth and chewing it slowly. The rest of the teachers no doubt already ate their meal in anticipation of their first classes but Calcifer had it a little easier then them so he was eating late.

When he was done he put the bowl on his table and it instantly vanished. He got up from his seat and walked out of the dinging hall, ignoring the stares and murmurs of new students after him. He had been doing this job for over a 100 years. He'd been through it all.

Calcifer exited through the same doors he entered to the dining hall and moved aside from incoming students or staff and turned to the right down the hall, his long red pointed tail bobbing behind him. He then turned instinctively to the left into a mens restroom, pushing the door open. With his hand still on the door against the wall of the room, Calcifer looked through slightly narrow eyes into the bathroom, a slightly perplexed look on his face, his lips thin and his eyebrow twitched. He was in a grassy meadow. The blades of grass reached his knees and beyond that there was a few stalls and sinks facing each other in the middle. He had seen weirder things no doubt but you just never knew what it would be. Blue skies. puffy white clouds and bright green swaying grass in a mens bathroom was definitely new to him, at least for this particular restroom.

He had to admit though, it was a relaxing scene for someone to do their business.

Calcifer washed his hands from the sticky juice of blackberries, still standing in the tall grass. The wind, the sky, the sun, the smell of grass and dirt...it was all an illusion. A very good one. So good in fact there had even been some students to stay in Somnium during the summer, only to get caught in a completely random room with a beautiful illusion. People would walk on and on and on and on and never go anywhere, although it felt like they were moving forward. It was a sad thing really for those who had mental or emotional trama.

Behind it all though, it was just a bathroom.

He wiped his hands off and threw the paper away into a grassy trashcan full of trash and turned to face the door that was standing straight without anything touching it, just a grassy field and blue sky around it. An odd sight indeed. He walked to it, opened the door, and closed it behind him, back into the regular old hallway. Calcifer put his hands into his pockets and took a deep breath before he decided to walk down to the first floor and watch his students a little before going back to his office.

OOC; Sorry not much to go with so its kinda short and awkward... also dont forget that rooms in the school can change if no one is in them!

There lay Chloe, atop her bed, hands laced across her flat stomache as she stared at the ceiling above her,a fan spinning,It's circulating air doing little to keep her cool In such hot and humid weather, her crimson fringe stuck to her forehead as she melted from the inside out,her tan form soaking In the heat the opened window of her room let In as a bird outside chirp a tune In delight to the weather not being predicted as rain. Her skin felt tired, and lazy, the exposed skin of her pale orange tank and cut-off denim shorts covered In perspiration. It was an average boiling summer day,the busted air conditioner doing little for any of them. The heat causing a catalyst of disaster between women of opposing sides on the level bellow her room on the third floor of the convent,so she called Its,apartment building. They were all the same, succubi, that was.

"If they were supposed to live with us,we wouldn't exist!!" Hollered a very timide sounding, yet ferocious voice. "Well unlike you, some of us actually care about our husbands!" Responded another deeper female voice In anger. It was obvious who was at It,the two women having something against one another throughout all these years she's been living with them. They were ofcourse talking about whether or not they should take on coed living,or keep the band together..She was more Into keeping with the way everything has been going for decades on end,but whatever they decide on Is beyond her control..So she chose to have none of It,making quiet exit of the building, eager to avoid being involved and take a walk outside, needing some fresh air and knowing that It might actually be colder outside than It was In their sauna of an apartment.

As she walked along the cobbledstone path outside the double stain-glassed doors that led from their building to the sidewalk past the iron gate fence that contained their yard. She was on her way to her favorite bench In their front yard when something caught her eye,a silver disc laying In the grass. She assumed It to be rubbish, but picked It up anyhow, not appreciating littering, and actually being quite curious of Its content.Upon closer inspection after holding It In her hand for a moment, the silver token being a smoldering metal due to lying In the sun,she noticed one sole word "Somnium" followed by a picture of a castle..She wasn't sure what to make of It,and was bound prepared to chuck It Into a trash bin when she recalled something she hadn't before. There was a peculiar, yet handsome bloke standing near enough to where she was to extend an envelope to her, which she ofcourse took out of courtesy, expecting the man to be a mate of one of the other succubi within the household, yet It was labeled to her In a very neat and dare say, fancy hand-writting..She was bound determined to get to the bottom of It,having no clue who the lad was,or why on earth he would have a letter for her,but before she could question him,he was gone, vanished Into thin air.

She wasn't sure If the heat was getting to her,or If It was some sort of practical joke at her expense, but she waltz inside and back up to her room, tearing open the letter as soon as she was sure the door was shut and locked..It expressed so much to her, leaving Chloe with a feeling of curiosity and well that was really all she felt for It.She'd never heard of the school, but It was as of no surprise to her why,It wasn't for average teenagers, but those of races that weren't entirely run of the mill, and that suited her just fine, being both intrigued and excited, despite her calm and collected demenor. It was after some mild convincing to her mum that It was finalized that she could attend the school, scot free until graduation,so she packed her luggage, and took the nearest plane to Linz,Austria, not looking back to the life of bickering and cattiness. She wouldn't soon miss any of It,that was for sure. You get tired of It all very quickly, not being able to take a leak In peace because someone will be banging on the door within a minute flat to hurry It up,worse yet If you're taking a shower!!

It took maybe less than five hours for her to arrive at the corresponding airport. It was a pleasant flight, more so than any she had before since someone from her group was likely to be In the bathroom with one of the flight attendents,a horrid picture, but It wasn't like It didn't happen once or twice on vacation! She got the window seat, and even had the luxury of falling asleep In peace without someone disturbing her In some way, shape or form, which was nice to tell you the truth. There was no brat In the seat behind her kicking her own,and no old man snoring loud enough to wake the moon. She was soon informed and awoken by the main captain announcing that they would be arriving at their destination In a few,so she sat In anticipation, looking forward to getting to the school of her dreams as soon as possible! She claimed her suitcases from the baggage claim section of the port and was soon glancing at her phone, being guided every step without any major flaw by Google maps, ever so grateful to them, causing her to not have to stop once to get broken directions from some Austrian, not being able to speak an ounce of German, having taken Spanish In school.

She was soon to arrive at the station platform 22,as directed by the memo she was given by that mysterious stranger all those few days ago.It was obvious she was at the right place, seeing more than one person around her age boarding the train as she did, earning her the aisle seat next to some quiet kid,not that she minded It much with the devoted companionship of her spring green Ipod. The lot of them arrived some time later at their soon to be current school, most peering up at It through their window, though her not having the luxury, being seated two people from the opposing window, but not caring very much, exiting the train and taking her suitcases, just then being able to see tha massive castle of a school. It was beautiful,a pure work of architectural artisanship! It held such mystery and awe that even she found herself agap with shock at how true It was to the depicted image on that silver token. She couldn't understand what made her chosen out of all the people to take their remaining highschool years there, but regardless, she couldn't have been more elated by the news given where she stood.

Following the rest of the crowd, she took her turn In the main office, getting her school schedule, notices, dorm key and ofcourse,a map she could be lost without.Being taken there with the rest of the students, she assumed, she found her dorm,a room numbered 102,turning the key and keeping the map In her jean pocket Incase she found herself lost at some point or another. The room was as magnificent and elegant as the rest of the palace like estate, making her own room look like a walk In closet In mere comparison! She was quick to set her cases atop her bed she'd chosen out of the two there, unknowing of her roommate, but not seeing how It was as of any importance to her.If she could deal In a house full of screeching and bickering women with numbers In the late teens, she could share such a large room with one other girl for sure. That was another thing she could appreciate of being taken into the school, she knew that It would be better than her old living condition. She hated It so much,It could be fun, sure, but having to waiting In an hour long line for the rest room after drinking a gallon of iced tea was far from heaven, especially If you have to dash to the complex next door and ask to use their bathroom because you're sure you won't make It another hour, pretty embarrassing,Isn't It?

She placed all of her clothing Into a wardrobe, most of It consisting of jeans, tee shirts, jackets and a few sparse pairs of shorts being that It was still summer, another note that caused her to toss her jacket onto her bed, right then feeling how warm the room was and not wanting to carry It around any more.Opening another suitcase, she placed the remainder of her belongings on her desk and side table.Bits of makeup, jewelry, and books could be seen there, aswell as other miscellaneous things that hadn't a place of their own.She found herself kicking the two suitcases under her bed,one still containing five or so pairs of shoes and the other hallow of Its contents.Taking a glance Into the table-top mirror she decorate with stickers and whatnot years ago,she retamed her messy faux-hawk-esque hair-do and straightened her scarf before giving herself a grin In approval. She really did actually like looking different from most but she assumed that would be a failing considering she wasn't going to school with just humans anymore..

Exiting her room, she pulled out her map and was soon at the dining hall.So many people were there so soon, and all with very unusual appearances, not unpleasnt, mind you, just very diverse compared to the folks at her old school,an academy for young women of class, what a joke! Most of the girls there wouldn't know common sense If It punched them In the neck! She could just pray that people here were more intelligent than the cast of her past. She walked through the breakfast line, grabbing a cinnamon flavored coffee cake, apple and tea, snatching a straw and some sugar packets on her way to an unoccupied seat where she sat herself, focused on eathing more than socializing, having not eaten at all since she boared the plane from Bristol to Linz, surprising enough. She might not acutally be required to eat,but goodness, did she hate going without satisfying her appitite!

It was fascinating sitting in the dining hall amongst so many other students. Everyone was so different. As a human, Odette had never seen most of the different races walking the halls of the school. Most of them looked pretty much like her, but there was something about some of them that told her they weren’t quite human. Not long ago, she believed that the world was limited to humans, plants and animals. Now there were all of these different types of people, and she just wanted to get to know every one of them so she could learn more about them.

Really, though, Odette wished that their thoughts would stop swarming about her head. It got louder and louder between her ears as more and more students filtered in to get their breakfast—it was, after all, the most important meal of the day. There were so many different voices that she couldn’t quite make any of them out. At that moment she was entirely sure that she was hearing at least one thought from everyone in the room. The migraine that had begun to develop on the airplane was now threatening to force its way back into her life now, and that was the last thing she wanted for her first day of school. She wanted to be able to concentrate, to really learn all that she could, but it seemed her own “gifts” didn’t want to allow for that.

Suddenly the doors to the dining hall opened, revealing a man who was very interesting to say the least. Though it was difficult for Odette to concentrate on anything what with everyone trying to get a word in her mind, she immediately observed that this was a very old soul that they were dealing with. There was something in his stance, something in the way he carried himself that suggested that he had been around far longer than it looked. Perhaps it would be interesting to get to know such a fellow, she thought. But when she realized that he was sitting at the chair that of the headmaster, Odette nearly swallowed a lump in her throat. With a man like that running the school, she was sure that it would prove to be a very interesting year to say the least.

Just as quickly as he had come in, it seemed the headmaster finished his food and left, probably to take care of more pressing matters. Odette couldn’t imagine what it was like to be the headmaster of a school like this—of course, this wasn’t surprising considering the fact that Odette had only recently realized that a school like this existed at all. She watched him leave, curious, before returning to her breakfast.

It was still difficult for her to manage food when so many voices were assaulting her mind. As she managed to push mouthful after mouthful into her mouth, she began playing a game, trying to match a voice to a face. This was increasingly difficult in large spaces like this, but she had always used this game to distract her from the migraines. But as she played her game, she realized that there was one girl she couldn’t read at all. In fact, the girl’s mind was completely closed off from her. It was a girl with short white hair that had red fringes. It was an odd color choice, but it fit the girl somehow. There was something different about her, just as there were things that were different about other students that Odette just couldn’t seem to pinpoint.

Interested and always one to start conversations, Odette grabbed her plates and left her table to go join the other girl. Of course, she would be polite about it. She walked over to the other table where the girl with the dyed hair sat and gave her a cheerful smile. “Hello. Do you mind if I sit with you? I’m new and I haven’t got anyone to sit with,” she said in a slight French accent that sometimes she liked, sometimes she hated. Even now that she was standing right in front of this girl, Odette could tell that she couldn’t hear any of the girl’s thoughts. It was so odd! That certainly had never happened before! Maybe this girl had some kind of key to helping her with her problem! Even if she wasn’t, Odette figured it was always nice to meet new people, make new friends. And this girl seemed interesting enough that Odette wanted very much to be friends with her.

Iris found herself standing in the dim light of her room, staring blankly at the reflection before her. A skinny girl stood there, her slimness emphasized by the baggy shirt she wore. Her figure might have been a positive trait, had she posessed any curves. As it was, her shirt seemed to just hang off of her shoulders, giving her an almost rag-doll look. There was a small amount of light pouring into the generously sized room, sending long shadows across the floor. None of the weak rays made it to the girl in front of the mirror, though. The shadows around her were darker and had an almost ominous feeling to them. They blocked off most of the light, leaving only enough for her figure to be visible in the mirror. She tilted her head slightly to the side, causing her silver hair to slide across her face. The eyes that had been hiding underneath the shadow of her hair were by far the most striking thing about her. They were as dark as the night that would soon take over the sky. Her mouth turned down into a frown suddenly, bothered by the sight of her own reflection. Her hand reached out to touch the side of the mirror, tracing the latin words printed on the side of the golden frame. Then, still staring at her reflection, she began to murmur in a low voice. The words sounded latin, but had a more ancient feel to them. After a moment or two, her eyes began to glow lightly, shimmering for a second before a veil of gold appeared to mask the black. She had practiced the same enchantment so many times before, it was near perfect. Anyone who wasn't skilled in the art of illusions wouldn't be able to tell that it wasn't her natural eye color.

"I am ready, father," she called out as she left her room. The hallways of her house were long and adorned with portaits of old people she couldn't care less about. Almost everything in the house was made of some sort of precious metal, the result of a grand amount of old money. It was inspiring some days, and other days it sickened her. Everything was about appearances in this family. Perfect house, perfect conduct, perfect magic, perfect bloodline, imperfect daughter. She was the only stain on the otherwise perfect family record. The result of the draw of power and the manipulation of demons. But, of course, the other families couldn't know that. So, despite everything, she had to act perfect. Pretend like she was the perfect daughter her parents had wanted. With a small scoff, she continued to walk along the hallway, her feet making almost no noise as they hit the carpeted floor. She caught sight of her father as soon as she entered the next room.

"The car is ready. Austin will be driving you to your school," her father told her with a small nod. A flare of anger rose up inside of her. So he wouldn't even drive her there himself? She could feel the anger stir up the dark energy inside of her. With an amount of willpower that had come with years of practice, she managed to calm herself. If she snapped now they might not let her leave. No matter how much she didn't like people, even non-human ones, they were better than staying in this old house. She turned to Austin, one of the family's assistants, with a small nod. He returned the gesture, and turned around to walk out the door slowly. She followed him out of the house and to a fancy black car that she had ridden in many times before.. After they were both secured in the vehicle, Austin started up the car and drove off. Not once while they were leaving did Iris look back at the house, knowing that likewise, no one was watching them go.

It was a long but boring trip that doesn't deserve to be told detail by detail. The traveling time was reduced by the use of magic, but Iris was of the opinion that every second in the car was a second too long. Austin had known her for most of her childhood, having been a family assistant for most of his adult life, and knew better than to try and start a conversation with her. So they traveled in silence. Once they reached the airport, Iris said a half-hearted goodbye to her companion, and managed to board the plane without any trouble. The flight from England to Austria was rather uneventful, except for the fact that Iris experienced several urges to rip someone's head off. All in all, though, it was nothing new and she managed to make it to Austria without killing anyone. In Austria, she found that the little German she knew was enough to get her onto the train, and on her way to the wondrous school she was about to attend.

A small sigh escaped her mouth as she boarded the train, taking a seat near a window. She was a sophomore, and had taken the same trip to the school in her freshman year. Iris rested her head against the seat, not bothering to give the person sitting next to her so much as a second glance. She hadn't always been so anti-social, though it was hard to remember the times when she hadn't been. It had been when she was young, before her powers had fully formed. Before she had learned she was unnatural. The train ride seemed to drag on forever, but eventually they made it to the school. Iris walked out of the train, staring at the ground as she walked.

Once at the school, she had to admit that it was something special. There was definitely no way that any human school would ever be able to compare. Her face remained completely calm, however, partially because of the fact that she had spent her freshman year here as well. She knew fully well that underneath it's aesthetically pleasing exterior, it could be bloody terrible trying to get anywhere. The rooms had a horrible habit of mixing themselves around. With a small sigh, she followed the crowd to get all the necessary things for the school year. She gritted her teeth slightly as she walked among the large group, tensing every time someone bumped into her. After she finally managed to obtain her things, she began to make her way to the dorms.

It was a cold morning, but she had always preferred cooler temperatures. As per usual, she avoided any groups of students she saw, choosing to keep to herself. Entering her dorm room, number 110, she was relived to see her roommate was not there yet. With any luck she might not end up having one. However, luck was usually never on her side, so she discarded the hope as soon it was born. Some of the things had been delivered to her dorm beforehand, and she tossed the other things on her bed. By the end of the year, she was sure, it would all be organized. Just in time for her to have to pack it up again. Running a hand through her hair, she wondered what she should do. She was hungry, so the logical course of action would be to go eat. There were always so many people at the dining hall, though, and she didn't want to deal with that.

The sudden growling of her stomach decided for her, and, after taking a look at her map, she began to make her way to the dining hall. Upon arriving, she managed to grab her usual meal. Which was basically whatever didn't look like it was going to cause her stomach problems. Not that the food at the school was terrible, she had just been horribly spoiled cuisine wise at her house. Staring around the place, she managed to locate a small spot in the corner that looked relatively unoccupied. As she walked over to it, she spotted to girls talking to each other. A flicker of irritation shot through her for no particular reason. Passing them, she sat down by herself and began to eat slowly with an apathetic look on her face.

x"You're late." said Adam, brushing his fingers through his black hair. In length, his hair was short yet was still capable of cloaking his red eyes. He wore a smug expression, seeming genuinely happy. The soft wind ruffled his loose shirt, almost revealing his slim upper figure. Flustered, Adam pulled his shirt forward and held it there. In his right hand, he had a fishing rod. It's handle being a dark blue, slowly fading into a shining silver as it reached the centre. "Did you seriously forget?" Adam frowned, reaching down to retrieve the fish bait near his feet. "You promised, didn't you- bzzz... attention."

"Ah.." Adam squinted, the light blinding him as he tried to open his eyes. It was that dream again, he thought. When the world around him came into focus, he remembered where he was. He glanced to his side, the seat next to him was accompanied by a short stumpy looking woman with a snub nose. Her fat fingers were curled around an arm rest, making it hard for Adam to move without brushing himself against her. He turned to face the window, the dark sky of Austria welcoming him at 5:30 AM.

"We've landed, please wait a moment before leaving. Thank you for using Linz Flight Express." Announced a foreign female voice, echoing through out the whole aeroplane. She repeated herself in three different languages, then silenced herself. Adam awaited for the signal to leave before getting out of his seat, then hurried towards the exit with his back pack slung over his shoulder. The two hour flight from England to Austria didn't seem too long, seeing as Adam fell asleep shortly after boarding the plane. He half expected that he'd have the same dream, where he stood at a rocky beach talking to someone. He'd never seen the face of the person he was talking to, nor did the dream go much further than that. Unchanged from this, Adam continued towards the train station located on his map. Without difficulty, he found himself at platform 22, at the Linz Central Station. He held the map in his hands, folding it back into a little square before placing it into his bag.

It was short wait for Adam's train, and it was easy enough to find an empty seat due to the indecent hour. Unfortunately, the weather became apparent when Adam left the aeroplane. He never accustomed well against cold weather, and he assumed it was because he was different.
He was sure he was right, that he was in fact some sort of demon. It made sense, no matter how he looked at it. The things he could do, proved it all. Adam pulled out his notebook, flipping through the numbered pages scrawled with his rushed handwriting. He reached page thirteen, titled Temperature. He proof read it, then nodded to himself in approval. Whenever he wanted to make sure of himself, he reread his notes, making sure he hadn't forgotten anything- or simply wanted to add more to it. The book was pack full of information about himself, or better yet.. what he knew about himself. Satisfied, Adam stored his book away and shivered in his seat. He wore a dark green hooded jumper with a grey undershirt, and slack black jeans with a small tear at the knee. He wasn't one for fashion, but enjoyed wearing plane clothing that suited him the most. Those sort of things didn't matter though, it was something he cared about the least.

                                                        ... "You're late! - ... Did you seriously forget? ...

The sudden stop awoke the dreaming boy, his small figure curled up near the window seat. His eyes narrowed as he straightened himself up and reached for his bag, feeling a headache breaking through. Adam stood up, a little groggy from his nap. He hadn't slept properly in two days, and always found himself dozing off whenever he got comfortable. He wore a tired expression, looking as if he were about to pass out at any given moment. Fully concious now, Adam left the train with his hand already reaching for the map in his bag. Scanning the paper with his eyes, the dark haired boy sent himself searching for the school. It wasn't a very long trip, in fact he found it sooner than he expected.

Adam organised himself with haste and came across his dormitory rather quickly. It was a fairly spacious room with two beds either side, both seeming empty and non-claimed. The curtains were shut, illuminating any source of light except from the hall he came from. Placing his baggage in appropriate areas, Adam sat down on the bed at the left side of the room. The covers were soft and the mattress was sturdy, which he expected from such a school. It was far more luxurious than his home in London, being a small flat with two bedrooms. While admiring the room, a sudden announcement broke the silence which he was very well enjoying. He hadn't realised it until now, but Adam was starving. This Genevieve 'Zombified Vampire Goddess' had reminded him that he hadn't eaten for at least ten hours. Whipping out the new map he obtained from the office a short moment ago, Adam directed himself towards the Dining Hall, which was half packed with hungry students. Paying no immediate attention to anyone, Adam piled food onto his plate with egg, cucumber, and jam toast. Carefully pouring himself some orange juice, the tired boy lead himself to the middle of the table at the third row and settled himself down. With a relieved sigh, Adam began to eat, forcing himself not to fall asleep.

[ [ I feel that my post is too small.. Anyway, I believe I rushed a little too much with the intro.. Sorry guys for the crap post. »»»I'm wandering the halls.
»»»I'm only with me, myself, and I
»»»Kids are so simpleminded

Calcifer had gone through the second floor and was making his way down the stairs to the first floor to watch and possibly talk to any stragglers. He was sure someone would be desperately and utterly lost even with a map like the announcements had suggested, and he was willing to lend a hand if needed. He wasn't the warm and fuzzy kind of person to teenagers like some teachers were. He talked to them like any other person...most of the time. It all depended of course on the situation like any person. And like any person in this school, Calcifer was quite complex.

As he continued to walk down the stairs he passed by a few students who were going up. He noticed out of his perifrials that they were glancing at him but it wasn't before they passed him did he hear himself being mentioned.

"Thats him right?" a young males voice, obviously excited but with a hint of doubt.
"Yes! I told you he was...funny looking." returned another young voice that belonged to a female.

All else was inaudible to him from their chuckling.

This of course made the fire demon smirk a little. He had been called much worse then "funny looking" and he was sure a few of his human students would think him down right hideous. Ah well.

Seconds later, the male leaned against the railing of the grand entrance staircase, branching out two opposite directions as he glanced toward the open doors of the front hall. They were bound open, the school itself letting each person come and go with ease as it always had during the first day of classes. Some students could be ariving late and in a hurry, others would be carrying their luggage with their hands full. It was a small but generous act for students to have a little less trouble on their belts for the first day. Calcifer crossed his arms and watched them one by one, all of them passing him, some giving odd looks but none dared to speak out for questioning his reasons.

Conversation buzzed about the tie-dyed headed girl who sat muching on mouthful after mouthful of cake, paying very little attention to the world around her but more of the flavored snack-food before her. She'd never realised how starved she was of human food until the scent of the cafe wafted to her, sending her train of thought onto a new track toward keeping her hunger for average yet very pleasing delicacies that were provided by the school, praise the lord too!In her luggage she hadn't brought any snacks,a pack of spicy cinnamon chewing gum but that was It,not even being considered edible, anyone swallowing the substance gaining a soon stomach ache,an occurence she wanted to part of as anyone else did.It was such a way to start off a new day, three before classes officially began, but none the different. She wasn't about to ruin her time by being starved to near emaciation or being held up by a tummy ache, such a sorrid way to go down,no valor or tale tell beyond consuming a stick of gum by accident, not thinking It through, one she would soon be without making.Pouring several packets of sugar into her tea,she stirred It with a little red drink mixer until the granulated bits could no longer be felt at the bottom of her cup, taking one long gulp before returning to her breakfast meal of choice,no one telling her other wise of what not to eat,and what to eat.The experience of being on her own, increasing In appeal to her by the moment.

So content with shoveling cake Into her mouth with a ravenous manner to her motion and moving onto the green apple that sat beside her plate, she all but paused, mid bite, right then noticing a blonde girl standing before her, requesting to sit with her.Her hair was so blonde It literally looked yellow with golden tints which contrasted well with her bright violet colored eyes shaded by long blonde eye lashes giving her a more innocent look when It can down to It,but her voice was a bold thing. It held so much confidence In those few kind words of greeting, ones she'd never wished to speak to anyone without a given reason, which gave her more assurance to return the smile, taking In her being for a moment or so more. Her eyes seemed to hold a universe,a galaxy of stars holding a vivid array of colours of a pretty purple scheme. It then occured to her that she hadn't the slightest clue why she would pick such a pig of a girl, shoving food into her mouth as quick as she could, not to mention her appearance was far from..inviting.Or that was what she assumed of It,but then again, this girl didn't have the most traditional looks either, natural or not, they were one of a same cloth In a sense, making her feel a broad connection with this anonymous girl who made herself known to Chloe despite never having the personal intention to talk with her otherwise, making her give some due respect to the young woman before her for the bravery she held, adressing a stranger with such honesty, showing no ounce of fear or doubt. She could respect that, for sure.

Giving the girl a more positive grin, she set the now bitten apple down, seeing It as the polite thing to do given her scenerio. She didn't want to make a bad impression on her,not that she could resist It from happening otherwise, she could just continue an attempt to avoid It to the best of her abilities. Her teal eyes danced to those of the girl before her offering a blithe nod. "I don't mind, being new myself." She agreed to her question, not having much else going for her, aside for eating to her little hearts content, but she could live without It,not even needing human good to begin with, nor gaining anything from It,even weight. She feasted almost once a day with could be enough for serveral depending on the person, which was fine with her, doing It as little as she could all the while maintaing a safe weight and decent health. She hated having the feed on the emotion of others,It was gross, making her wish to be human If she had the choice to be reborn. It was such a bleeding burden.First, you had to find a person who was repulsive or too near and dear, then the rest came naturally, for her kind that was.But she did what she could to stay with a clean and respectable status, but survive..It was alittle but of a contradiction given her circumstances, but she managed fine enough, never over-eating and never slandering her name, such a careless mistake, but In her younger years,It was one experience she couldn't avoid, none of them could, but practice did make perfect In her case.

"I'm Chloe,by the way." She announced In a very casual manner, resuming her personal feast on unrequired food-like things, but not being able to help herself. It was one thing she could never get over, how wonderful human food tasted. Some she disliked to a high level of intolerence, like lemons, god, they were straight up nasty alone, but In pie they were fine or tea, even. But cinnamon never grew tiresome to her,she could eat a handful of the spice and never come to dislike It In the least.Eating for her kind meant nothing more than fufilling a quota,so to her It did.But she knew that some of the women In their community did overeat, and loved every minute of It,packing on pounds with no doubt, but still managing to find herself a new meal every so often. It was unhealthful to feed everyday as a succubus or incubus, but some did anyhow, god knew why,but they did..Couldn't be helped In anyway, that was for sure, and telling one otherwise was a dire mistake. She'd never critiqued any of the women whom she'd lived with, atleast never voicing her opinion aloud, knowing that they'd snap back and hence creating another useless argument like so many that've been had over the years. She cherished thoughtful debates, but arguments were very very counterproductive In retrospect. She just hoped that the girl before her wouldn't be as argumental as the load of birds she'd encountered before.Catching a blur from the corner of her eye,she recalled a silver haired chick giving them an annoyed look, stomping over to an unoccupied table. And Chloe thought she looked unpleasant! She wasn't very understanding of the girls deal, but so far as she didn't drag her problems there, she wasn't going to protest In the least. If she wanted to join them,so be It,If she didn't,that was A-OK In her book. She wasn't very unappealing In her own special way,but she had a way about her,the manner she moved In and presented herself held so much angst It was palpable.Goodness though, she could've tried to look alittle less peeved on day one,but maybe she had issues. Then again...didn't they all?
