Y o u r S t o r y
It's a Saturday morning, late in the summer. You hear your parents, (gaurdians or friends if you have no parents) fighting over a personal matter from your bedroom. You decide to get out of the house for awhile and go outside and enjoy the weather that has been cooling down lately. As you walk out the front door you notice a something shining brightly in the grass, a few feet away. You walk over and lean down to pick it up, and holding it closer to your eyes. You notice its a gleaming silvery token with words that look like latin on it. One word in particular stands out more then the others. Somnium. In the center is a picture of some kind of castle like building. As you look up from the token you gasp loudly, seeing a young man in front of you that you didn't even sense was around when you first went outside. He smiles at you and hands you an envelope which has your full name on it. Your curiosity gets the best of you and you take it from him, looking down in the classic looking cursive writing in ink on the back of the envelope with your name. When you look up to question the man he is gone. You quickly rush back into your house and into your room, making sure you are alone before you open the envelope.
Welcome to Somnium Academy.
You have been
accepted to this school, especially made for teenagers from age 14 to 19. All
students that are accepted to this academy are supernaturally gifted by race or by their abilities.
Let us enlighten you with a brief history behind Somnium Academy. Our school was created in 1819 by Edmund Strauss, a human science professor. He had done many experiments and research on the supernatural and at the height of his career people say he fell to madness. You see, Mr. Strauss had also discovered that magic was real after years and years of trying to know the truth. He was given information from an anonymous person, telling him to go to a certain building of London and other instructions that followed. He did as he was directed to do, and it was then that he learned that the building was actually a safe house for mystical races, completely kept secret. Only from his detailed instructions that he had followed did he find the right section of the building. Seeing as he knew how to find the safe house, no one questioned him of his background and
after a year of studying, befriending, and learning, Mr.Strauss had a new dream in his life. He would create a school for children that weren’t human but he would also create it in his own vision. It took years and when he tried to tell people of his dream. they assumed he was mad. He finished Somnium Academy when he was in his seventies, only to be taken away to an asylum and died two years later.
Although Edmund Strauss was human, he had received help from 4 of his nonhuman friends to build Somnium, and as such, the school is unlike any school ever made before.The building is like clockwork, always changing and creating. Each year there are rooms that look completely different then what the looked like last year, from just different furniture, paint and décor, to a room where all there is, is water like an ocean or the sky itself. When someone walks into a room, it could be upside down, or the person it self is upside down. You could walk into a room and be shrunk down in size to be only 4 inches tall, or grow to 12 feet high. Some rooms smell strongly like peaches or wet dog for no reason at all while others wobble when you move to walk on the floor. There are other rooms in particular that actually migrate in a cycle around the building, and there are others that give whatever a person might need at the time, like food, or a specific type of book just by asking for it. Sometimes when you walk into one room and then leave, you’ll find yourself on the other side of the school to where you had been previously. Fear not though, for as long as there is one person in a room, it will not change for anyone else who would enter the same room. This way the rooms at this academy stay somewhat controlled.
The school itself is like a dream, and thus, it was named Somnium Academy for having a mind of its own.
As for our students, each student has a different story to tell. Some have been born as outcasts, alone in a human world that is completely ignorant of what people like you have to offer, while other students know little to nothing about the unhuman world and their abilities. Some are born into unhuman families and have already learned about their powers and others races like them. At Somnium Academy, we teach students to use their powers to
their full potential, about the world humans think only exist in fairy tales, and how to survive. Our classes are well rounded and consist of general teaching's like math, science and literature but also consist of magic, supernatural history, and power control. We want to
help every student the best as we can to get you
to live fully and happy in a human dominated world, and to be the best you can be in whatever you want to study in as a career. You will also see many different
rooms and many different types of people. Join us at Somnium Academy and,
as our motto says,
"Dreams do Come True"
You may think you are alone but I assure you, you could not be more wrong. Let us help you make your dreams come true.
Along with this letter is a plane ticket for you and you alone. You will be taken to an airport located in Linz, Austria and from there you will board a train at the Linz Central Station on platform 22, taking you to our school. It takes about an hour and a half ride to Somnium. There is also a list of things we suggest you bring and do not bring and the classes you can choose to enroll in. Please do not be late, your plane leaves three days before school starts. If there are any issues that are against your will that you may encounter with arriving to our school, please burn the coin in your possession in a fire, and we will assist you as soon as possible.
