~The death of an only friend~

Miles had finished checking in with the front desk after recieving the key and getting an odd shock at the same time from it, making him drop the key as he picked it back up. He chalked up the shock to a simple electromagnetic charge and nothing important as he flattened the standing fur on his tail with a paw. He attached the key to a necklace which contained a few very thick dog tags from a haunted house which he had worked for, for a few years before the place was closed by the owner. The chain necklace clanked once or twice as he put it into his shirt, taking the reception counter papers he was given telling him where his room was and who his room mate would be.
"A room mate?" Miles asked surprised as he sighed annoyedly, "Great... Ok... let's see who this person is..." he began reading out the name of the person stated on the paper "Keila Shin. A girl? Even better..." miles said sarcastically under his breath "Well this is a school dedicated to helping students find love... I still don't know how Luminia convinced me to enroll here but we'll see how things work out." Miles turned, picking up his messenger bag which contained his laptop, his sketchbook, and various notebooks for various uses. He slowly made his way to his room, reading the paper that he had picked up at the reception desk, avoiding bumping into other students on the way there as he didn't even see a set schedule.
Miles was suddenly set off balance while walking down a hallway which he was about to turn as he barely avoided bumping into the girl and falling on his own a**. He turned around once nearly falling over when he caught himself on an innocent passerby steadying himself without meaning to as the person he had caught himself on stared at him. Miles let go of the person looking to the girl he had nearly bumped into, now on the floor with scattered papers surrounding her as she scurried around to collect them. Miles walked back knelling down next to her and helping her gather her papers, "Sorry about that. I wasn't watching where I was going." He gathered up whatever papers he could until they were all gathered.
He noticed that the girl was a regular human with no specific or outstanding features as far as he could see from this angle. He handed her the papers that he had gathered up to her as he felt like introducing himself, "My name is Miles, Sorry about knocking you over, I didn't realize that someone would be coming around the same corner at the same time." He didn't stick around to hear any response from the girl as he got up and walked away not wanting to be in this crowded hallway of socializing teens anymore. He made his way back to the door which was where his dorm room was as he used the key on it and opened the door slowly beginning to enter before something hopped onto his shoulder. A red cat that he seemed to converse with for a second before fully entering the room closing the door behind him.
