Welcome to Balingroft, students, staff, friends!

I, Allandare Victor Gregory, headmaster, am happy to extend my warmest and humblest greetings to you!

Here we extend the best of all things in the hopes of creating the very best of students and graduates to carry on the time honored skills that so many have forgotten; be it magic or battle, blade or bane, we shall see to any and all with open minds and willing minds. ~Ahem~ I see I've gotten slightly ahead of myself.

You see, this school is a very special one, it's been around for ages but has never accepted just anyone willing to come before. It was once a prestigious institute for the very rich, powerful, and persuasive. But those day are behind us now that I've taken over. Any old riff raff can come in so long as they have an invite!

Just travel in groups, and avoid the ruined portion of the school grounds and all will be well. ~Nervous chuckle~

It's the 19th century. No ipods, TV's, malls, or fancy schmancy automobiles (Just yet). At the very most its steam powered technologies and magically powered creations.
The location is an undisclosed area in Europe. Some guess it might actually be within the UK, but there's no confirmation.
The weather is often times cloudy and rain falls often over the spring and summer. Snow DOES occur in the winter and it can reach negative 30 degrees Celsius with winds.

All teachers reside in mostly permanent rooms that are only slightly bigger than the student dorms. They rarely share rooms save for cases in which relationships are involved. Their residence are attached to the dormitory space of their respective group of students they are charged with.
There are five groups of division: Slayers, Shades, Castors, Keepers, and Blades.

Slayers:Those who are going into the profession of slaying beasts that have come out of control and threaten the safety of society.
Shades: Assassins, rogues, and thieves seeking a professional status so they may join a guild.
Castors: Magic users, casual and professional seeking to harness greater power or come to terms with a mastery.
Keepers: A group of beings wanting to learn to keep the knowledge, powers, and secrets of the Earth in hopes of preserving it.
Blades: Knights, fighters, and brawlers looking to improve their skills so they may make a name or find a guild.

HOUSE DOES NOT DECIDE CLASSES. HOUSE DECIDES THE ULTIMATE 'END RESULT' OF YOUR CHARACTER WHEN THEY GRADUATE ALONG WITH PURPOSE.

As previously mentioned, there are the five divisions. Each student will be met at the door, once they arrive by carriage, by a greeter that will examine their papers and assign them a division by handing them a scarf, sash, or arm band (The item is the choice of the student). Once given said item the student will be directed to their respective dorm division after hearing the headmaster's (rather dull, blathering) speech. It is there they may get settled in and then and make use of the boards just outside of the rooms (in the corridor) to decide which classes they want.
The first day is a free day to wander about (In groups!!!) and get to know the place they will be spending most of the year or so, if not many more.

Classes are as follows:
Herbology: Learn to use plants in various ways as well as identify them, and creatures of their persuasion. (Pending a professor)
Physical Educations: Learn to master weaponry, riding, physical combat, defenses, and some sports. (Pending professor)
Magical Tactics: Learn to use various schools of magic as well as practice mastery of magical items, spells, and creatures. (Pending a professor)
Beast Mastery: Learn to commune and abide with beasts of all natures. Teaches taming, soothing, controlling, and summoning of animal friends. Taught by our resident draccotaur, Professor Detzormu Veldrukei.
Stealth Arts: Learn to manipulate shadows, assassination tactics, stealthy combat techniques, disappearance, and 'Creative entry'. (Pending professor)
Engineering: Learn to use magic and steam powered devices as well as create them from provided materials. Features a special course in creating independent 'living' beings. (Pending professor)
Astrology: Learn how to read the stars, the benefits of the lunar cycle, experiments with the sun, and practice astrological magics (These are independent magics- They do not require magical tactics, but they flatter one another nicely). (Pending professor)


Students must always have at least one person with them if they leave their dorms.
Students are not allowed to go to the ruined reaches of the school grounds.
They MUST take at least one class to be allowed in the school.
Rivalry is encouraged between divisions, but there will be no tolerance for fighting out of proper placements and there will be NO TOLERANCE for sneaking into neighboring divisions dorms.

Here at Balingroft we try to create a comfortable, stress free environment in which our students can comfortably live, learn, and grow into true successes. Since we're quite a ways from the nearest town or city, we try to provide all the entertainment and needs the students and staff may require.

Our bedrooms house two students comfortably with their own personal lounge room, and bathroom. Each room has two fire places, cleaning services, pre-provided linens, and toiletries, and, of course, an excellent view of the courtyard gardens.
Meals are had in the dining hall at eight am for breakfast, noon for lunch, and five pm for supper. Snacks are set out in between meals for those that become hungry in between.

For entertainment we have the library, outdoor pools, indoor pool, and indoor market. The market opens at nine am and runs until three am for those older students that wish to attend the pub.

For education purposes we have spared no expense in providing excellent class rooms useful to all forms of study. We have the gardens (as shown in the dorm section) in which herbology takes place when the weather cooperates; otherwise said class resides within the greenery space. The bulk of our beast mastery courses take part in the stables where students are also allowed to be during extra curricular times (Same goes for the gardens).
For the more stealth inclined students, we have a state of the shadow arts training room in which scenarios can be created and faced.
Magical arts takes place within the fully stocked laboratory. And physical training takes place primarily within the physical training room.

[Rules of Conduct]

These are rules by which all students, staff, and general university tenants must obey.

1.) There will be no tolerance for violence on the school ground that results in death; the only permitting fighting takes place in physical training and weapons classes where medical staff may intervene (It's also expected that there is no godmodding, being invincible, autohitting, initiating unwanted fights, or killing without checking first. Gore and violence is okay with arrangements).
2.) Sexual conduct is not permitted; anyone taking place in such may be expelled. (No erping/ dirty rp is allowed here in the thread.)
3.) Students cannot enter into other house dorms. They must stay with their own house and travel everywhere with one other person...For safety.
4.) Show courtesy always and act in a manner befitting a university of prestige. (Be kind in OOC; you can be a mean character, but any cruelty out of RP will end in termination).
5.) Check the rules of conduct often; they may be subject to change. Notices will be given, but still be vigilant.
6.) Enjoy your stay.
7.) NEW RULE: Please post at LEAST once every three days. Failure to do so, or to give an excuse for a lack of posting, will result in the termination of your stay at the university.

Professor Detzormu

First day of school...Ah...Nothing quite like it. New faces. New minds. It was refreshing. He walked to the front doors to await the new students in hopes that he would be able to greet them before they were assigned to their houses...There was usually so little time between the outdoor assembly with the headmaster and the house assignments. Besides...It was a good way to become familiar with the faces that would be attending his courses on Beast Mastery.

As per usual, he was accompanied by a little monster on his back- A chimera to be exact that was always in his company, haunting the space between the webbed spines on his dragon back. He was a needy little thing... But Detzormu adored him all the same and usually didn't mind having him on his back all the time.

Anyone entering the school who met the draccotaur's gaze would receive a graceful, horned bow of his maned head; he was simply quiet the whole time until he was spoken to...One would think that such a knowledgeable old being would have so much to say.
