              Chapter Three - Episode One。}
              xxxxASHES, ASHES...★

Here it is Raishonettes. The situation as of right now:
After the ball was almost at it's climax Yukina was called to the stage by the Headmaster to be embarrassed, as always, but then some kids started piping up. Not in a way you'd expect. In a dark tone, yelling that she didn't do enough as the leader of the Guardians. Persecuting her for the Halloween incident and trying to shove her overall falures as a leader in her face. Others started to chatter about it and even agree. Of course there was defence for her, but you know Yukina. Old wounds bleed more intensely for her. In a flurry of emotion Yukina vanished. Losing control of her powers and once again throwing herself into the fray and transporting herself to a far off time. After all was said and done the students that had said anything had acted as if they had forgotten even saying that. Blacked out for those short moments. Remembering only the fuzy image of a female before everything just went black.
During break, due to the circumstances, the Guardians had the opition to go out for the holidays or stay and continue their duties around the school. There was a new figure around that kept close to the Headmaster, but distant from any students with curious eyes. Obviously this feminine figure wasn't too keen on conversation.
One of the Guardians in particular had a harder time over the break. The popular, the pink, the loved. Something happened, something that his newly discovered brother knew, but he didn't- if only to rub salt in the poor boy's wound. This mother was ill, but this was saddly not an ailment Eli could cure. Helios and Artimus' mother was dying, and there was nothing they could do to stop it.
This was the proverbial straw that broke Eli's back. Yukina missing, no answers to what happened or where she even was after confessing his feelings. The idea that he had a blood brother in the mist, and his mom was dying. Everything was out of his control, it seemed to have made him spiral. He would stay away from people, or people would just stay away from him. His power would do the same when he was happy. Negative attitued, negative effects.
It all seemed as though things in Raishon were at their bleakest. Like as if the school was falling into shambles. Then, that fateful day, Yukina was back. She was spotted at the gates of the school walking towards the entrance building's stairs. Her same cold expression on, as if nothing had ever changed. As if she had never left.
The Guardians, Eli, soon meet her before she could enter. Her stature was poised, her look distant. As he would go to hug her with glee, she would slap him away almost mechanically. Looking over at him with a disgusted look on her face.
Eli looked up from the cold hard ground and the others looked on in astonishment. Yukina brushed her arm off getting rid of the feel of his skin. Glaring in an almost ominous empty way she looked back up to everyone around. This was her warning:
"I will let you all live, for the time being, but I will return. Make no mistake, your destruction is imminent. Those who I have marked for death I will have the joy of watching the pothetic little light burn out from their eyes."
With what she scoffed she soon turned away walking towards the woods where the chimera roamed free.
The glimmer of a devious smile grew; tucked away in the shadows as Eli ran after Yukina into the woods.

"Everyone. Back inside." Shinji spoke as he shifted his weight to point back towards the doors of the school. The students were obviously anxious and wanted to know what was going on. If it was an elaborate prank or if she seriously was off of her rocker. The whispers did as they always would and traveled quickly through the doors and through the halls until you could almost feel the wave of people hitting the windows to see the scene. Of course there was no scene anymore, but the faces on the people that did see it were scene enough. Especially the Guardians; their faces were the most shocked disheartening of them all it seemed.

Shinji closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath clinching his fist with his arm still out from pointing previously. Quickly jolting his index finger back out to point again yelling this time, "Now!" Shock wore off and the students started making their way back in quickly and quietly. When a staff member or someone affiliated with the Guardians gave them an order they usually always listened- except for the 'special' few.

As his arm fell to his side he looked back out towards the forest area and sighed. What had gotten into her? Maybe this was her reaction to finally losing what memories she had left? Of course he was expecting that day, but never that she would be out for blood because of it. Why the sudden anger? Lose of memories couldn't do that. There had to be something else going on. Something that would make her this way. All Shinji knew is that if anyone could get through to her it would be Helios. The Guardian had been through rough times, but that wouldn't dampen his love for her. No, it would only make those feeling stronger. He would be okay with her, but the others...

Turning towards the remaining few, the guardians that lay in wait, Shinji sighed. With that sigh of an exhale he started for the door himself. Passing them by he said in a calm quiet voice, "Make sure no one goes after them, especially yourselves." This would take talking to the headmaster to figure out. This was defiantly above Shinji's pay grade. Then again, this was something that would probably take all of them to figure out. Yukina is a complicated girl after all.

Over the course of break, Suzy had flown back to Canada to spend time with her family. She had missed her family so much that she even practically locked her poor cat familiar in a death hug upon returning (much to her chagrin). While she hung out with her family and got caught up with everything she had missed while she was away at school, she was unaware of the bleakness that befell upon Raishon Academy until she returned from break (and brought her cat along with her this time).

Now she stood amongst her fellow Guardians and the general student populace as they all faced the direction of the Guardian leader. Following the conclusion of the Winter Ball, she had disappeared without a trace. Her sudden disappearance had made her worried. Had she been that affected by what the students had accused her of at the Winter Ball? Suzy thought her leader was a strong person to not let any of that affect her. But perhaps she was wrong.

Watching as Yukina slap Eli away from her, the blonde Canadian couldn't believe what she had just saw and heard coming out of her leader's mouth. Was this person even the same Yukina? She always knew that her leader was a cold person in particular, but not this scary cold. It was like there was no trace of warmth in her anymore. Too shocked for words, Suzy stared at her leader, unable to fully comprehend what had just happened. Her mouth hung open for a moment, then closed as she watched the raven-haired girl turn away from them (and Eli) and walk towards the woods, with Eli running after her.

Almost immediately after, she heard Shinji commanding everyone to head back inside. However, Suzy remained with the rest of the other Guardians. Nodding as Shinji told them what to do, she wanted to ask him what had gotten into their leader, but refrained from doing so.

"What...just...?" she finally spoke in a low whisper. Then in a louder voice, she cried rhetorically, "What's happened to our beloved leader?!"

The scene was more terrifying than anyone might have imagined...Akane running down the hall like a mad banshee towards Riku. Was this the end? The sprites didn't have the same bone chilling reaction Riku did. They were, well Luna at least, going to fly towards her in a slow mo scene of hugs and love, but soon realized that she wasn't stopping for no one. Luna veered course and dodged a bullet and Riku side stepped to do the same. She obviously wasn't coming for him, there was something else going on. Something important. You could just see it in her over all demeanor. Probably some kind of Guardian business.

Riku looked back from Akane's direction back to his original destination moving his foot accordingly as well. He started rubbing his arms one at a time rapidly with either hand trying to rid himself of the goose bumps that enveloped them. How come a tick could make a big hound quake in his fur? Probably because that tick was smart and would always go for the jugular. But really, when you thought about it. Akane was like some kind of super cool samurai girl that you'd only see in animes.

The scene of day break the sky as bright burning orange with a kimonoed female figure swiping her sword with precision. Then the shadowed figure stopping with sword pointed out as if sensing something near. She looks at Riku and starts for him eyes glowing red, he tries to get away then he trips. It's all looking bleak, what is he going to do?

"Riku! Riiiikuuu!" Luna got louder and louder as Riku started to escape from his own mental images. Shaking his head and placing his palm against his forehead he scratched the edge of his hair back and forth for a moment. "Sorry guys, spaced out there for a moment. I'm fine." He was fine right? He almost wanted to look around his body for places a sword would have been stabbed into. The look of worry was on Millie and Luna's faces. Pyxie, as always, wasn't so forgiving. "I know you're fine, you were too busy thinking about Aka --" Riku quickly grabbed Pyxie up and put his index finger over her mount lightly as to silence her. Any spoken word dropped in this school, however lightly, spread like wild fire. That wasn't something that he wanted people to start back up again. Yeah, there were still a few that would hint at something between the two of them, but for the most part people had calmed down a bit. Still, not a ball he wanted to get rolling again.

"Quiet Pyxie, you should know better by now!" Riku yelled in hushed tones. Pyxie just giggled as she was let free from his grasp. Millie knew what was going on and just flew forward to hug Riku's neck. Luna had no clue what was going on, but was jealous that she wasn't getting attention. "Hey no fair guys!" Luna quickly flew to Riku's head and plopped down on it. Riku moved his hand back down to his side as Luna grabbed little pieces of his hair flapping them forward yelling, "Yah yah!" Riku closed his eyes and sighed as the other two sprites giggled. "I'm not a horse Luna..." Luna perked up immediately and said, "Yeah, but you still haven't gotten me my pony yet~!" With that the other two sprites started to fight with Luna over who would get to sit at the highest point and who got the shoulders.

Riku couldn't help, but wonder what was going on in the end though. Other students were passing by while they were going on about their business. It was probably better that way. Akane defiantly wouldn't want Riku there and Riku had more than just himself to look out for now. He didn't want one of the sprites to stupidly run out in the middle of danger and get themselves hurt. Best leave it to the professionals and let other people's business stay that way, their business. "All right, stop it you three we need to get going. I need to study, so lets get back." With that his legs started moving forward, back for his dorm. The sprites took their respective places and they were off.

"I don't know what you did, but I know that you're the culprit!" Leif hadn't ever had a raging fire burn within her, but in some weird sense she could understand what he did. He was confused; being used. Who would wish something so cruel on any being, even if the boy didn't mean to do it? Lifting him by the collar of his shirt, she slammed him against the wall. Gently, of course. Enough for it to sting so it would get through his thick skull. "You're being used, Noel. Why can't you see it? Do you want Gamma that badly?" In the undertones of her voice, Gamma spoke with her, but inaudible to the ears. Violence never solved anything. Letting go of his collar, her face contorted to a sadness. He could have been 'used' for a greater purpose, but only used by is own being. With her hands clenched into balls of trembling fists, she turned her back and started for Yukina's dorm. Slowing her pace, she halted and stared ahead. Instead of looking back, she kept her head held high. "If you really want to try to get it again, then come get it. I will give Gamma to you willingly. If that's what it will take for you to follow your own right path, then so be it." Leif's head was pounding with thoughts, and not just her own. Gamma wasn't happy about it either.

                                                  * * * * *

Weeks passed without seeing her twin. Leif spent countless hours searching far and wide for her sister. Without her, everything seemed a little darker than usual. Was the seafoam-haired girl the only one that felt this way? No. Their dad had taken care of them for so long, and without a word from her worried him. Strain and stress was placed on the Headmaster while even he looked for her. If Leif could simply replace Yukina, would the world still be as bright? Everyone would be happier, right? Would the future look so meek as it does now? Perhaps the older twin was being too hard on herself. She knew it was going to happen, but it was a matter of when and where it was going to happen. Time was something that she didn't have, and if she did...things would have worked out differently. Maybe even to prevent her dear twin for losing her memories. To keep her simple facade, she explained to her dad that she would find Yukina no matter how long it would take or how hard it would be in exchange for mountains of ice cream. It didn't seem to completely cheer him up; her light humor, anyways. Under beds, in attics, in secret places that Yukina would only go to...how hard could it be to find her?

Leif finally came to the conclusion that it was no use. To prevent any loss of time she searched without much to eat. In fact, she ate little to nothing. Hot chocolate prevented her from craving any other kind sweets or heavy food. At least until it came around to night. Even then, she had a loss of appetite when it came to eating. Dinners without her sister weren't the same. Their dad was silent throughout their whole dinner since they usually always ate together, but as the first week passed by, the less both of them saw each other. Leif wished in times like this that their mother was around to help. Maybe she would know what to do. It was coming down to the fork in the road, and with decisions coming down to Noel and Gamma drew near every passing day.

Over the course of time, Karma would occasionally stop by to help Leif. There were even men in black, neat suits helping as well. It seemed that even Shinjiro had been upset about the whole happening, and Karma ( like always ) had tried to make him happy; to try and take some of the weight off of his shoulders. Anyone could see it with a brain. In times like these, Leif didn't have the time to be a space-case, let alone question Karma's actions. The more help that was offered, the better. Karma said that she had tried to help Helios, but he didn't exactly seem there. Leif's motivation and desire to find her sister grew; not just for herself, but for the sake of everyone else around her. At least until the end of the weeks started to pass by. She was utterly convinced that Yukina was left in the past, somewhere stuck in time.

On the same bench, she waited and watched the horizons, hopefully seeing her sister. In the middle of snowy days, she would drag her finger along the blanketed bench and make drawing in the flakes. Just like the twins used to when they were younger. Leif would brush off the snow, hoping that her sister would swoop in and sit on the bench. Unlike all the other time she rippled into time, she didn't know how to get back, and even she forgot everyone down the road. The long dragged out process; there was no cure. Even if there had been, it was already far too late. Now all she could do was continue to sit on the bench and wait..

Before her tired eyes, she saw a familiar face; two. The same one who asked to borrow her ice skates, and the raven haired girl she had been searching for. The aura was very...different, yet similar. Her own sister didn't even recognize her. What was Leif supposed to expect? She had forgotten everything. How would she even gain those memories next? Even she didn't seem to know Helios. The world was already starting to crumble. A shout mustered from a cluster of people at the scene. Leif hadn't been paying attention to those around her. Yukina ran off into the forest with the bright blonde running after her. Leif could do nothing at this point, except hope.

Shinjiro yelled for people to get inside and to leave the scene. He still seemed stressed, but he wasn't the only one. A chain reaction was already starting off the new semester. With the Head Guardian and Second in Command missing, all Leif could do was hope that in the end Helios could save Yukina. It was the only hope left. Standing up from sitting, she closed her eyes for a moment and also did as she was told. Before she passed Shinjiro, she gently placed a hand on his shoulder. It was a gesture of comfort to let him know that he wasn't the only one and that it would be okay. It would after all. Leif had faith in that.

As she stepped inside, she walked along the corridors until not many people were around. Leaning against the wall, she placed her hand to her face, running her fingers lightly over her heavy lids. "Gamma, what else is Noel planning? What makes him so useful with his abilities?" There was silence in her head, but she wondered if she would receive answers that she was looking for to put answers together. For now, it would take one step at a time.

Upon everyone being instructed to head back inside, Kanami turned and ushered those around her back inside the school building. "Come on," she said. As she walked back inside the school, she glanced back over her shoulder at the remaining Guardians, and also at the spot where Yukina and Helios had just stood a few seconds ago. There was a look of concern on her face. She'd never seen the Head Guardian like this before. Although she never was on a personal level with Yukina, she was fairly acquainted with her and had spoken with her a few times before in the past to know that her behavior right now was very unusual.

Moreover, she'd never seen Eli fall into a state of despair before, like he'd been the past few weeks between the end of the Winter Ball up until now. She had always seen him brimming with so much life and energy that it shocked her greatly to see him become so distant. She knew nothing about why he became that way, but she figured that the Head Guardian's sudden disappearance had to be one of the contributing factor. All in all, it was quite pitiful to see him in that way.

Kanami hoped that things would turn out alright in the end, and that everything would go back to the way it was before.

Once inside the school, she turned down a hallway to head towards the cafeteria since she hadn't eaten breakfast yet that morning. The sudden commotion surrounding the Head Guardian's return had distracted her, and she, like some other students, had went out to see what all the hubbaloo was about. Stepping inside, she passed by the rows of tables and booths to approach the food station, where she picked up a plate and got whatever was available for the day. Then after getting her food, she selected a random table to sit at.

Well. What a welcoming first day of school, if one can even call it welcoming. To the others, it wasn't a first day of school, but for her, the new transfer, it was. Wearing a large, thick white scarf wrapped around her neck and a long black peacoat and holding a hot 14 fl. oz mug of vanilla spice latte in her right hand, Aurora carefully sipped its contents, reveling in its perfect ratio of steamed milk and expresso with hints of cardamom, rich vanilla, and spice. The whipped cream, topped with crushed vanilla bean and just the right amount of sugar, heightened the latte's flavor for her. A perfect drink for a chilly January day. Beside her feet was her luggage, as she hadn't really moved into her assigned room yet. After all, she did just arrive. But instead of going straight to her assigned room, she had grabbed a latte instead, as no mornings without a latte or a cappuccino would be complete for her.

Though it was still early in the morning, she could sense an uneasy tension in the air. The other students seemed, well, distracted, to say the least. When she arrived at the school, she had seen a boy yelling for the students who were standing around outside, their eyes searching and seemingly confused, to get back inside. It was as if something had gone wrong, terribly wrong. But she, a newbie, had no idea about what had happened. Perhaps a kind soul would perhaps give her the gist of what was happening. After all, as a newcomer, she had some right to know what was happening, right? She then chuckled to herself. Right, as if. She was a newbie in a strange new school. A school for magical folks like her. Kind of like Hogwarts, but without the silly wand waving and hocus pocus. She was certain that if she asked, she would get the usual answer of "oh it's nothing, don't worry about it."

Finishing up her latte, Aurora returned the mug to the counter and left the cafeteria, remembering to take her luggage with her on her way up to the third floor to room 370. After unpacking her luggage, she went back out and down to the first floor. Tension still seemed high. She noticed a girl leaning against a wall with a hand pressed against her face, a gesture of either exhaustion or disbelief. Cautiously, she approached the girl. If she was walking into the lion's den, then so be it. But if the girl was friendly, that would be a plus.

"Excuse me, is everything alright?" she asked, a gentle smile on her face. "I'm new here--just arrived this morning--so please forgive me if I am being intrusive. Everyone seems rather tense--I'm afraid to ask questions in the event that my head will be bitten off." She let out a soft chuckle.

                                                  "Excuse me, is everything alright?"

Taking a moment to come together, Leif blinked when she heard a voice. At first, she thought she may have been going...absolutely insane. Especially since after she starting to ask herself questions that probably would have sounded rather odd if she spoke them aloud. When her eyes caught a younger appearing girl, Leif blinked again while she removed her hand from her face. Switching from 'despair mode' to 'energetic mode' had activated. Leif's face brightened in an instant, giving a welcoming wave to the short haired brunette. Her hair color reminded her of a smooth, rich color of caramel. Before she could say that everything was dandy -- even though it clearly wasn't -- the girl continued. Hey, the more the girl didn't have to talk, the better right?

"I'm new here--just arrived this morning--so please forgive me if I am being intrusive. Everyone seems rather tense--I'm afraid to ask questions in the event that my head will be bitten off." a soft honeysuckle chuckle glided from her mouth. Oh right, that meant Leif had to respond. It would have been rude to not answer a girl inquiring about the current scenery around Raishon. Leif shuffled her bangs with her forefingers gently before thinking about what to say. Or at least, where to start.

"Well, first thing is first! Welcome to Raishon!" Leif made sure to put her hands to her side so her face wasn't being covered. Holding her hand out for a proper introduction, she said, "My name's Leif! It's nice to meet you!" Gently grabbing the girls hand so she wouldn't fly all over the place, she gave a few gentle shakes, even if the other girl didn't want to. Being nice wasn't a crime, especially starting with this meek semester.

"Hmm, where should I start? I take it you saw a big huge loch ness purple monster when you first got here, right? You know, really long hair? He's probably the one you're talking about eating your head off, yeah?" She exaggerated by extending her arms to emphasize how huge Shinjiro was. Her arms went back to normal, except she flicked her wrist; her hand bobbed up and down. "He's harmless. Everyone's just...confused. We're sort of dealing with a kind of loss? N-no one died though! So it's okay. We just will be missing someone for a while!" Where was she supposed to go with this conversation?

"Oh, I know! Why don't I show you around? Maybe after, we'll go get some ice cream and spread it around this place as a pick-me-up! Fifty buckets seem about right." A large smile spread across the twin-tailed girl. This new acquaintance seemed rather dainty, so she would have to make sure not to harm the girl...whatever her name was. Leif had already forgotten if she had introduced her name yet. Had she already forgotten? Looks like she had to keep playing different cards until she was alone to mope once more. "So where would you like to start off? I can show you the world~" The last part she started to lightly sing it out, but stopped and gave a light giggle. The world was meant to be Raishon, but to Leif it was tomato-tomato.

Many things happened over the course of break and before. The morning after the Winter Ball ended, Momoko went around to the dorms of everyone she knew or was acquainted with, and placed her gifts in front of their doors along with a greeting card. She made sure that her actions were secretive so that no one would know that she was handing out gifts. Then after she finished giving out her gifts, she would retire back to her room for the remainder of the mornings and sip hot cocoa. The gifts she gave out are thus:

Red: Pokemon the First Movie DVD (although she never actually interacted with him before, there was just something about him that gave her the feeling he liked Pokemon)
Xanthias: greetings card, cat clock, and mouse toy for CP
Alf: green knit sweater, large pack of Maruchan ramen noodles (they were on sale for $2)
                                Zyera: neck pillow
                                Kanami: bookmark set
                                Eli: music composition notebook
                                Seung-Hyo: black/red tie
Akane: hair tie, (bad) drawing of Akane slicing up monsters
                                Harumi: set of hairclips

Also, that morning, she discovered two presents at her door upon opening it. The first was from Debbie, and the second one was from some mysterious person she didn't know because they didn't leave a name--only a note. A note that sort of baffled and frightened her at the same time. She left both of those to be opened on Christmas Day. Which she did. It surprised her to see that her roommate had given her her treasured Heracles plush. She had also received cake from her. As for the anonymous gifter, Momoko received from that person a CD. The CD was blank and had nothing on it to indicate what it was. So when Momoko went to play it, she ran out of the room crying the moment the footage of the RING cassette tape played, all while covering her ears at the same time. Her brother had to come in and shut it off for her. Meanwhile, she received a new violin, music note hairpin, new clothes, two boxes of mochi, a new cooking apron, and the Yumeiro Patissiere anime recipe book from her family.

Moreover, during break, her beloved hamster died after living a good 2 years. A few weeks after her hamster died, she got herself another new pet, this time a bunny since their lifespan was longer than hamsters, and she didn't want to get another hamster that would die on her after 2-3 years again. Because her new pet had an all-white fur coat, Momoko proceeded to name him Snow since he blended in so well with the snow. When it was time to return back to Raishon, Momoko decided to take Snow with her. Of course, she had to go through a process of getting his picture taken and sign some paperwork.

And lastly, she began seeing her speech therapist again upon returning home. Through a couple more sessions, she was able to reduce her stuttering by two-thirds, which was pretty good for her.

Now that I have summarized what happened (in regards to Momoko) before and during break, let's move on to now, shall we?

"Hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm-hmm," hummed the brunette as she walked down the hallway. All of a sudden, a flurry of students ran past her, nearly knocking the poor girl over. "Waaa-aaaah!" she cried upon getting swept up in the crowd. Luckily, she managed to find an opening and escape her way out. As she did so, she heard some voices within the crowd yelling something about how "Yukina/Pernilla/That Head Guardian's back!" Blinking, Momoko tilted her head. Huh? That was what the sudden stampede was about? She'd heard that the Head Guardian had disappeared after the Winter Ball, but seeing as how Momoko had never once spoken to her before, her disappearance didn't bother her.

Walking up to the window to take a look at what was happening outside, she spotted the dark hair, pigtailed girl at the gates. And of course, Eli would run out to hug and greet her. But what happened next was something that Momoko didn't expect to happen. Her eyes widened for a moment, then shrank back to normal. Had something happened between them? Since she was inside, she couldn't hear exactly what was going on outside, but she noticed that the crowd went back inside shortly after. There was a mixture of shock and confusion on their faces, which made Momoko curious to know exactly what happened out there. Some even had a paled expression.

"U-um, can you tell me what happened out there?" she asked a random student passing by. The student, taking one look at her, twitched the corner of her lips as she tried to convey it in a way so that the junior wouldn't be too alarmed and/or frightened. "Oh, just nothing. We were all just shocked at Yukina slapping Eli like that, since...y'know. Well, bye!" And with that, she was off. Still confused, Momoko blinked as she stared after the girl. Then shrugging it off, she continued to walk down the hallway.

Aurora was pleasantly surprised at the welcoming response that she received from the green-haired girl, who had gone from looking dismayed to looking bright and perky in just a matter of seconds as she waved to her, Aurora. Before she could return the favor and take Leif's outstretched hand, it seemed as if the other had already taken the liberty of doing so, albeit a little too enthusiastically in her own opinion. But hey, enthusiasm was better than hostility, right?

"Thanks," Aurora said, beaming. "I'm Aurora, by the way. Aurora Kaname." She tapped her chin thoughtfully at Leif's description of a "big huge lochness purple monster". "Ah, are you talking about the guy who was yelling at the other students to go inside or something?" She wasn't exactly sure, hence the clarification. Either way, if Leif said he was harmless, then she had nothing to worry about. A slight flicker of worry did reflect in her bright green eyes, though, when Leif said that they were dealing with a loss and that someone was missing. Though Leif brushed it off as being alright, Aurora didn't think a missing person was cause for an "okay".

Aurora noticed that the girl seemed somewhat unsure about keeping the conversation going before delving into asking her about touring the school. With a delighted smile, the brunette responded, "That'd be nice, thanks. Aladdin, nice choice." She had caught the Whole New World reference that Leif had almost burst out singing. "So, tell me Leif, what are the different clubs or sports offered at this school? Like, is there a dance club or anything?" She needed to know. She was the dance captain of the dance team at her former school, and she wanted to continue dancing, to continue doing what she loved in her spare time. While it would disappoint her if Raishon didn't have a dance club, it wouldn't be too drastic--she could find something else to do, depending on what the new school had to offer. She had also been involved in student government at her old school, as a public relations/fundraising chairperson, responsible for getting word out about the club and raising money for the club, so she hoped that Raishon would have something similar. After all, didn't all schools have some form of student government?

Letting out a tired yawn, Yue picked up the cup of coffee beside him on the desk and drank it. In front of him was a small laptop, and beside him, a plate with two bagels. As of currently, he was spending his morning in the student council room. He didn't have any particular duties to do in there, but he wanted a more quiet place to be than the cafeteria, as well as a place where he could eat and drink at the same time. The library disallowed the consumption of food and drinks. Outside, the clamoring of students could be heard.

"Now!" a voice suddenly yelled above the rest.

Pushing his chair back and standing up, Yue walked over towards the open window and peeked outside. Upon looking down towards the school entrance, he noticed a large array of students gathered together there. He also caught sight of...her name was Yukina, right? He'd never talked to her before, but he was aware of her position as Head Guardian. Having not a clue as to what had been going on since he'd been in the council room almost all morning, Yue watched as the crowd dispersed. "Wonder what the deal is out there...?" he inquired to himself.

Closing the window, Yue went to sit back down. Grabbing one of the half-eaten bagels on his plate, he took another bite of it. His right index finger moved along the scroll button of the mouse attached to his laptop as he skimmed what was on the screen.

"You'd think people would learn to lock their bikes up better," he muttered as he clicked to another page of the city news and took another bite of his bagel.

Never overwork music. Perfection wasn't just about nailing the technicalities. Emotion must be evoked and how could one evoke emotion without playing with emotion? How could one play with emotion when every little note, count, accent, and dynamic has been drilled in? Great art isn't measured by how it looks (in this case, sounds), but by what it does to us. This was a mistake that many instructors have made. Zane was careful to never ever force this upon his students. Except right now.

"Again."

It was the first day back from winter break. Most people were still readying for the morning and there the few still in bed. Others like Zane Nguyen and SeungHyo Choi have been in the music room for the past couple of hours practicing the guitar. What about proper sleep? Nope. That was a privilege to be earned in high school. How about breakfast? That was a gift given to the responsible that decide to show up for a performance. No matter the complaints, whines, or growls of hunger, Zane wasn't about to give in. "You speed up at measure two fifty-six. Don't do that." He simply looked at the boy. Deadpan wasn't Zane's style, but a blank expression mixed with his milky green eyes summed up to unique intimidation.

There was a commotion outside. Zane could hear from the school gates that it was about the famous, now infamous (?), Head Guardian. He could also SeungHyo slowing down to look out the window. "No distractions." Distractions were the reason the Korean was in the music room from five in the morning until now. Maybe if the piece was perfected, he'd let the boy out early, maybe early enough to still catch breakfast? Until then, Zane opened up a bag and started to eat the egg sandwich inside. The scent of a buttery croissant drifted into the room.

"Again."

                                            ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

At this particular time in the morning, Seung-Hyo would either still be sleeping in in his room or eating breakfast in the cafeteria. But no. He just had to get woken up early by the music advisor. This was his supposed punishment for missing out on the Music Club performance back during the Winter Ball when it was time for the Royal Crowning. "Something came up and I had to leave early," he'd lied. In reality, he had fled from the ballroom because Gangnam Style had been playing previous to the announcing of the Winter Royals. Yet Mr. Nguyen wouldn't accept his excuse.

With his stomach growling noisily, Seung-Hyo groaned as Mr. Nguyen instructed him to play some particular measures again. It would have been nice if Mr. Nguyen had let him eat breakfast first. How the hell was he going to concentrate when his stomach insisted on playing the song of its own 'people'? But he knew that Mr. Nguyen was strict when it came to music, and would not give in no matter what. Still, the man could have a little bit of mercy for the poor hungry boy.

Just then, he heard a commotion outside and made the mistake of slowing down to look at the distraction. Because of that, he was told to play it again. With a pleading look on his face, Seung-Hyo gazed at the music advisor. "But Mr. Nguyen!" he cried. "Don't you hear my stomach sing, singing the song of hunger? How am I supposed to concentrate on getting it right if my stomach keeps playing the song of its 'people'?"

But Mr. Nguyen was not to be swayed. To add insult to injury, the music advisor just had to pull out an egg sandwich from his bag and eat it. Seung-Hyo stared at him with a tortured expression on his face. Why must he torture him like this? It also didn't help that the sandwich's scent was strongly tempting. Yet Mr. Nguyen just told him to play the measures again.

With yet another groan, Seung-Hyo played it again. He kept everything that Mr. Nguyen told him he'd been doing wrong in mind, making sure that he didn't make those same mistakes again. He wanted to get it right this time so he could finally be done with it and hustle on out of there as fast as he can before the cafeteria stopped serving breakfast.

~ Nanjo Jouichirou ~

"Sensei." said Jouichirou as he slid open the door to the nurse's room.

There was a sigh. "How many do you have for me this time, Nanjo-kun?"

                  "Two."

The school nurse frowned and gently touched her fingers to her temples, where she could feel another headache forming. "Please, just put them on the bed. I'll add it to your list after I take a look at their injuries."

Jouichirou carried two unconscious students and laid them on the bed, making sure they were comfortable. "Thank you, Sensei. Once again, I apologize for my immaturity and lack of control."

"And yourself? I see that you've got quite a few cuts yourself. That gash on your cheek looks particularly bad as well, Nanjo-kun."

Jouichirou shook his head as a bit of blood dripped down his cut cheek. He had indeed taken his wounds, but the cuts would heal over time. "They are mere flesh wound. Please take care of those two students. I am once again in your debt, sensei." Saying his apologies, Jouichirou closed the door behind him and turned to walk down the hall.

Jouichirou had returned to Kyoto during the Winter Break and visit his family and the Banchou Alliance but after coming back to Raishon, he had been severely disappointed with the student body. Though there were other students that helped assist in keeping the school together, it was easy for him to see that the public morals and standards of behaviour had fallen ever since it became known that the Head Guardian had gone missing. The rest of the Guardians may have tried to hold things together, but without their leader, they did not possess the same strength and vitality.

As a result, he had encountered quit a few incidents similar to the one that occurred just a few minutes ago...

                                  - A Few Moments Ago -

"Target practice, a'ight? Target practice! So don'tcha move a muscle! Hahahaha!" A student sat terrified with his back against a tree with a number of holes in it.

                                  THUNK!

An icicle suddenly pierced the trunk next to the boy's head, eliciting a terrified but silenced cry.

"Wouldn't want us to MISS!" Tree leaves suddenly started to fall around the student, slowly drifting their way down. However, the student seemed to be deathly afraid of these falling leaves... Which was a natural reaction, for as they drifted down, they neatly sliced through a branch above him, riddling it with cuts and slashes. "Now would you?"

Two well dressed male students stood a few metres away, clearly the antagonist. One was able to create icicles from a water source and propel them through the air. The other had only been able to sharpen tree leaves with his abilities so far. Both of them were currently practicing their skills and fine-tuning their abilities.

"Please! Just let me go alrea-!!" the victimized student was quickly silenced as an icicle pierced the ground between his legs.

                                  "Hey, didja hear somethin'?"

"Nah man, just some idiot ramblin! Hahahaha!"

And an icicle flew through the air.

However, it was suddenly grabbed and crushed in the deadly grip of a white and black gloved hand. "You two must be another pair of students who feel a sudden burst of courageousness with the absence of the Head Guardian. But know that your actions bring shame upon the name of Raishon Academy!"

"Ah ********, it's that annoying justice brat. The hell d'ya want! We're just doin' some target practice!"

"He even agreed ta do this fer us! Right!?"

The student by the tree, shaking, nodded his head. Even if this was not a situation he wanted to be, his fear of the bullies was just too strong.

                                  "My name i-"

"Yea, yea, Nanjojojojojo. Whatever. Look, your speeches are gettin' old."

Jouichirou nodded and crossed his arms. It seems his actions at maintaining the standards of the school have been starting to cause their own ripples. "It is good that you understand. Now let us depart for the nearest Guardian."

                                  "Guard THIS ya little ********]

Another icicle flew through the air. However, just as it was about to pierce through Jouichirou's chest, another hand reached over from the side, catching the icicle and once again crushing it within his grip. Slowly, the arm connected to the hand, the body, and the head appeared, revealing White Justice in his usual primal might. "Ggrrrnnnnktt..."

With his arms still crossed, Jouichirou lowered his gaze and glared at the two students disappointedly. "Very well. Very. Well. It is clear that the two of you understand NOTHING at all!" Raising his voice, Jouichirou roared, "KNOW THAT YOU ARE WRONG, AND BEING WRONG YOU MUST BE CORRECTED!"

"Ya ********' cocky b***h! You can't correct awesome s**t like this!"

"COME! COME AND SHOW ME THE STRENGTH OF YOUR BELIEFS!"

                                  "We'll see who's gonna get ********' corrected!"

                                  "WHITE JUSTICE!!!"

Once again, he had been immature and quick to resort to his fists. This would not do. He must control himself. A true man would not have been so quick to anger. He still had much to learn. Shaking his head, Jouichirou stalked down the halls with an eye out for misdemeanors, dress that did not adhere to proper conduct, and litter on the floor. He desired to keep the school's name in good standing and that started with the student's conduct.

Was it because he was aiming to be a Guardian?

              No.

Was it because he did not see the Guardians as effective as they were prior to the Winter Break?

              No.

The reason was simple. It was because that was what he felt to be the right thing to do. What good person would not correct others when they became misguided and misled? To bring others back to a proper path was the natural thing to do. This was his vision and path. This is what he saw to be a righteous man. If a man did not look out for his neighbour, what would stop him from ignoring those he passed in the streets?

Chane's eighth--and final--semester at Raishon academy was beginning. He was feeling mixed emotions. On the one hand, he was soon going to be out of this place that he somehow felt like an outsider in (despite being much like the others). However, he also felt strangely unfulfilled--as though he should have done more. He had just recently passed up the option to attend the winter ball. It was not as though he ever wished to go, but rather, he felt deprived of interaction. He had managed seven semesters without making a single friend--which no longer felt quite like the accomplishment it used to. He had seen people make friends, others flirt and fall in love. He was not asking for a close relationship with anyone, but those with friends seemed far happier than he did.

There's a reason you've stood apart from everyone, though, he thought to himself. Which was true--he was afraid that if he got close to anyone, or even so much as near anyone, he would end up harming them physically. He had done it before, so there was no reason he wouldn't do so again.

Despite his conflicting feelings, he was still one hundred percent displeased with the fact that he learned he could not have his own dorm this semester. He did not catch the name of the person he was going to room with, nor did he care who it was. He simply hoped that whoever was staying with him in room 310 would ignore him. Barring that, he would simply do his best to ignore him or her. As he sat down his bed and looked out at the door, he heard the knob turn. He believed it would not be too hard. He would just not even say hello to the person. He did not care if he was being unfriendly--his goal was not to make friends. It would not be so hard.

Then his confidence shattered when Akane Sumiyaka walked in.

Oh... Oh no... he thought. He had never spoken to her directly, but her vigor and ardor were impossible to ignore, to say the barest minimum of how noticeable she was. Of all the people, this was the one he was unprepared for. He tried not to show his horror as he saw her, and merely waited, frozen, to see what hell she was about to unleash upon him.
