a rather handsome-looking young man made his way quickly across the campus to the main dormitory building where he knew where he was staying. he'd gotten his sister to show him the dorm room the night before so that he would have a free day to explore the campus and perhaps make friends. this man's name was kyoshi mitsui, an ex-member of a rather famous band. in fact, he was flocked by people who knew him from the time of him being in the band. they crowded around him, asking why he left, where he went, what he'd done for a living. he answered all of these questions as honestly as he could, but it was with a heavy heart that he remembered the days that he'd been a drummer in that band. it was during their first tour that he'd met the love of his life, whose name he wouldn't dare remember for risk of memory surge. to this day, kyoshi doesn't spend an hour in which he hasn't thought about the choice that he made long ago. he had thought then that it was a good choice to get the steady job at the construction plant than as a drummer for some band that probably wouldn't even make i. But in leaving his band, kyoshi had also left behind his love. there was no way he could ever regain such a precious thing. he would know, because he had tried many times to locate where he could have gone. yes, he. kyoshi's love had been male, an even more forbidden love than that that they had been brewing by merely being together from different bands. he sighed and stuffed his hands into his jean pockets, turning around and walking the opposite direction of the dorm building. he couldn't bear to go back to his dorm and face the picture of his love again.

Ian found it hard to stand out in the group of people who despite his requests were still asking about Lithium Escape and Single Digit Sex. Neither band he wanted to talk about. Both bands held heartbreak. The distressed blond mumbled a faint 'I have to go,' before pushing his way through the group. He made his way to dormitories and walked up the stairs. Stopping at his dorm, dorm seven, the boy sighed. He wondered if perhaps he should have dyed his hair brunette before coming to Emerlie. It would have made him less noticable, and he wouldn't have had to deal with the former fans of bands that didn't make it past a summer tour.

He opened the door and walked in, immediately spotting the new roommate. He had recalled the administration saying something about him having one, but he hadn't quite listened. The first thing that caught the blond's eyes was the pink in the boy's hair. A boy that liked pink couldn't be that bad. Ian smirked and fell on his own bed.

"What's up?" he said, trying to make conversation.

Demetri sat outside upon the edge of a water fountain. He observed the passerbys, making mental notes of human behavior. People were fascinating creatures. Perhaps this is why he was planning on majoring in psychology, although to concept of being an anthropologist was also quite appealing. He made a mental note of looking into anthropology as a minor. An air of boredom was around the brunette. One day on campus, and already he found himself bored. Something to had to make this place worth it.

The brunet shook some bangs from his eyes as he fiddled with the zipper of his bag with no intention of opening it. He just was avoiding eye contact for longer periods of time with his new acquaintance. Keeping it for over half a minute with people that he didn't really know kind of unnerved him. His major had suddenly left his memory, leaving him to sit there like a sitting duck. Samson pulled his lips to the side, trying to recall it. "Culinary Arts!" The boy announced in his quiet manner. And again, the almost rash-like blush flew up onto his cheeks again, as he wondered if that was too loud.Sam then managed to ask, "A-and you?"

she was sitting on the steps with her usual things: bubble container, bubble wand, bubble machine, and notebook. the bubbles were her obsession, the notebook something to write names down on. ayame mitsui wasn't so great with names, so she wrote down everyone's names repeatedly on a page dedicated to them until she memorized them.

"jeebus there's loads of new students today. why don't any of them show up a week in advance anymore?"

she sighed and continued to blow her bubbles, wearing her usual gothic-lolita school-uniform-like costume. she was really quite cute like that, especially since she had the back of her hair up in identical high ponytails. her eyes were closed, and when she opened them again she looked around at faces she might recognize. she was sitting on the steps of the secondary administration building and could see most of the campus from here. she did recognize zander nixon. she didn't know him personally, but recognized him from her musical theory classes. it was her major; what could she say? music was totally her thing. oh, that's one thing that she brought with her. a boombox with a custom-built subwoofer attached.

"hmm let's listen to some dj zany."

she smiled and popped in a cd she'd been holding on her left hand. pressing the play button, a heavy bass rhythm began to pulse its way through the air around the campus. the staff and faculty probably would yell at her later, but they couldn't now. it was summer vacation still. who cared if she played loud music?

Oh no.. Emmunal had made him uncomfortable! He was practically tearing himself apart inside. If there was one thing that Emmy couldn't stand, it was first impressions, considering he messed them up, all the time. All of the time, literally. Like, when he came out of the womb, he was already screaming bloody murder. And then, at school, he'd been so scared as a kid that he would never speak to his teacher, and for a while th ey put him in the mental help classroom because they thought he was mute! All sorts of unhappy thoughts ran through his mind when suddenly he drew in a deep, deep breath, trying to calm himself.

And then the announcement came, and he blinked. That had been unexpected! The other had been so loud.. and then he'd started to blush, which had made him start to blush, dirty blond hair flopping into his warm hazel eyes. "U-uhm.. I'm, uh, majoring in.." It danced away from him, and he didn't know how to put it. Most people didn't know what a diagnostician was... "Uh, medical... diagnostician.." He sounded nerdy, but when did he not? His hand sformed a little cup against his shins, wishing for Phodius...

Music slowly began flooding the courtyard, drifting into Demetri's ears, causing him to tilt his head in confusion. Who would be playing music so loudly during the first few days? Sure, classes had not started yet and probably wouldn't for a few more days. He rose from his spot on the water fountain and headed towards the music.

The sight he stumbled upon caused confusion. He saw a fairly small girl blowing bubbles in the courtyard. He raised an eyebrow and proceeded to approach the girl, the occasional bubbling popping against him.

"Excuse me," yelled Demetri over the music.

The door of the 2005 Toyota Echo slammed shut after a dark-haired male had emerged from it, blinking in the sunlight. He glared at the frames perched on the bridge of his nose, and pulled them off, stuffing them uncerimoniously into their case. After a quick flick of the remote attached to his keychain, the car doors were locked, and a second later, the trunk was open, inviting Elijah to reclaim his bags. He hadn't arrived at the school as early as he would have liked, but that was really all he could do. So, the male grabbed his suitcase, laptop bag and slung his messenger-style school bag over one shoulder and shut the trunk. He took a few steps before a buzzing in his jeans pocket made him stop in surprise, and utter a faint oath. Elijah let go of his suitcase and took his cell out of his pocket, glancing at the text message, which was from his overly-protective mother. "Jesus, will that woman leave me alone?" The male said, a frustrated edge in his voice. He snapped the phone shut again and headed off once again, his ears picking up the sounds of music.

As Elijah reached the school building, he glanced around at everyone who had obviously arrived earlier than him. He didn't really pay any attention to anybody, though, and nobody in particular caught his eye. So, the black-haired male continued on his journey to his dorm, going past some girl, who was the source of the music, and a random other guy who seemed to be trying to talk to her. Inside the building, it was much quieter, which Elijah was greatful for. He saw some other people who were on their way to the dorms, or heading outside again. Elijah wanted to get his things unpacked, and possibly get aquainted with some new people.. or have a nap. The twenty-one-year-old preferred sleeping rather than social activity, in all honesty. He wasn't really the socializing type. But... maybe he would find somebody here worth his time to speak to.. as it was a new opportunity, a new year. A new beginning, in a sense.

"ah crap. i just locked my keys in my car again!"

the eighteen-year-old japanese american girl banged on the door of her car as though it would magically raise the pin and unlock it. it was the fifth time she's locked her keys in her car this year, and that wasn't even a record for her. kumaya akatsuyo lost more money paying for locksmiths than she did buying groceries and clothing. sighing, she gave up and walked toward the campus, looking for someone to ask for help from. most people so far seemed occupied, so she decided to stop right at the dorm building.

"anyone got a cell i can borrow?"

she cast her voice along the campus, hoping some kind soul heard her and heeded her plea for help. all of her bags were still in the car, and she kind of wanted to put them in her dorm as soon as she could so that she could then get started on making friends and finding classrooms and such. this was proven not to be the best way to start out one's first day at college.

kumori enthusiastically followed zander into the dorm building. he took mental note of the way the older boy clutched his notebook so close. vaguely he wondered what on earth could be written on pages zander held so close to him. the idea of some things made kumori grin to himself.

"how long have you been here?"

"Two years," he said, "I came here when I was eighteen years old."

Zander reached up and brushed the strands of dark hair away from his eyes, only to have his hair fall back into its original position. He groaned, irritated that his hair was so unmanagable. However, for reasons beyond him, the boy refused to cut it. He made his way up the stairs of the building.

"Dorm eight!" He exclaimed, content he still knew he way around the upper levels. His own dorm was on the lower level.

"Here we are!"
