Oh dear, I didnt expect that at all, but I guess it should have been expected. Honestly though...
Okay, well, I thought the books were rather good the first time I read them, but the more I thought about it, the more I discovered that there are indeed a lot of things wrong with it. For one, yes, Edward is a emotionally abusive boyfriend, pretty much anyway - you'll find a thread about that too - or at least mentally unstable. And Bella turns around the whole woman's rights thing (sufferage, right?) and heads back in history, becoming meek and, well, just does pretty much any darn thing Edward says - okay so she has bouts of rebellion but still acts as though Edward can dictate her actions. She has a sense of personality the first few books, but completely looses it the last book - in fact, the last book was just like a fanfiction. If I hadn't bought the darn thing, I would have thought it was another fanfiction.
So we move on to the movie. It was alright by adaption standards, although nowhere near what I would have liked. I sat there for most of the movie, scoffing (pretty much) and pointing out missing things (I do that...). I wish Robert Pattinson would just RELAX like he seemed to do for Harry Potter. Leer NOT appreciated. I guess it's the fandom that makes it a popular movie - it's not very deep, really, seems kind of superficial. Aren't movies supposed to have themes? Even adaptions? This movie doesnt seem to say much at all. (Blame the english class)
Ok, so I go Switzerland, and critic and fanwrite. I write fanfic but often it's just because a ready-made character is so much easier to use than making up your own. I love writing, but I need an audience too, so writing for a fandom is better than writing something noone's ever going to read...
