While I'm not exactly a fan, I'm not a hater either. I agree that it's ridiculous how people can get over a fandom or hating one, but when it gets physical is when it disgusts me. That said, I'm one who would mess around with people verbally about liking Twilight before it grew on me. I disagree with a lot of what happened and how it's painted to be acceptable, but the ink is dry, the copies have been made, it's been made a movie, and even then, I'm not a publisher so there's nothing I can do about it aside from talk about what I like of the movies and why I disliked the storyline in many points.
But yeah, I'd say if you like it, there's nothing to stop you from sharing your fandom and you shouldn't be afraid to show it. I can see why you'd keep it closeted after the soda incident (Which I hope your theatre tossed the schmuck who did that to you out of there), but just because someone isn't in your fandom or as wild about it as you doesn't give them the right to dictate that you have to keep it to yourself.
If everyone thought like that then the world would be much more accepting of others... sadly the soda thrower was in a car and just did a drive by so he was not caught. Im not a big fan of Harry Potter or Dr. Who and I don't hate on those who do. And i know the movie were not that great but i loved the books first so why dose anyone have a right to hate something that i used my imagination to create not a motion picture...
Simply put, it's human nature. Not everyone's going to be a fan of every franchise on this planet. Everyone has different tastes. I will say that I found a certain charm with the movies, though it makes the books difficult to read because there were a few things I still don't like about them. I mean, with the books, I've tried to read even the first book with no luck. I've been where Bella learns about Edward being a vampire and he charmed the waitress to give them free food for the last year or so. It's because I know where it's going to go from there, they suddenly become the Forks High "it" couple and she abandons her clique. The way she goes around the latter just rubs me wrong because it's like, they were here and now maybe they'll appear as a reference and fade into obscurity until New Moon. And to be frank, I liked Eclipse and the last Breaking Dawn movie the most. The others were pretty lackluster though nice charm for an escape, but I felt that there was a lot more advance with those two.
