Yes he did. When ever it was REALLY big and all these rumors were flying around, they asked him about it.

He didn't want to offend the homophobes, but he didn't want to dampen the fandom. He did say he never originally intended for them to be gay, but that it was up to the fans if they really were or not.

And how would you know this? Were you in Japan at the time? He NEVER said that. You probably heard it off the internet, right?

I like the fact that Togashi said it was up to the fans to descide. Instead of getting everyone into an uproar who likes yaio or who is offended by it, it leaves them to their own choice. I personally like the idea that Kurama is gay but just because he is femanine, doesn't at all mean he is a fruitcake. Although there is much evidence out there that he is or isnt, I'll just stick with my own opinion that he and Hiei and lovers. 3nodding

It is in Japan, but at first the show was hosted on Adult Swim and then became "Cut", (Simply people taking out and digitally drawing over all the blood/cleavage the Rukia(? Is that her name?) had, and so forth.) they even cut out the part where Kuwa-kun and Yuusuke-kun kiss. Then, after being butchered and dubbed over the langauge they stuck the show on Toonami for younger audiences to watch.

After that cropping the only /bad/ word I heard was crap, and Kuwa said it.

And I agree with Togashi, it's up to the fans really.

But then again Kurama could go either way. I've caught little hints of possible Hiei moments in the show, but not much. Intended? Who knows. Fans make the love.

We all have strong points to support our beleifs. ;P Honestly, I've read some pretty good opinions, I don't know which one to lean on anymore. I guess both? XD Possible?

Yeah, I've got the uncut DVDs from when it was still an Adult Swim show. But I also got a hold of one EDITED DVD in particular, the one where Yusuke is facing off with Suzaku in the Saint Beasts' Castle.

They actually missed a word in the cutting out of language surprised

I remember it quite clearly, when Suzaku was playing the camera of Keiko and Botan running from the Makai-Insect-possessed people, Yusuke got extremely pissed off, fired up a Spirit Punch, and yelled,

"EAT THIS, YOU b*****d!!!!"

Yes, it said clearly on the case: EDITED. I nearly fell off my bed, I was so shocked. You'd think these people would be a bit more professional about it...

Kurama isn't gay. Trying to say he is 'coz "The boy's hair is as long as his but" and "The man fights with flowers" is completely unfair. People have different tastes. So what if likes his hair long? I've seen people that have long hair and aren't gay. He fights with flowers? So? I think it matches his personality plus demons are born with the ability to control specific elements. Do you think Kurama can help it if he got the ability to control plants? And about that Kuronue thing, they were close friends. Like brothers, I would guess. Wouldn't you be sad if your brother or close friend died?
By the way, Maya and Kurama were never together. I'm not sure if the anime said anything about it, but, in the manga, Kurama had found out that she liked him the same day he met Hiei. When he found out, he told her that he didn't like her, even though he did which proves that he does in fact like girls, to protect her. Then that's when Hiei attacked. Later that day, he erased her memory and I heard that he grew his hair out so that she wouldn't recognize him.

Since that's out of the way, I would like to comment on the pics.

Personally, I like the first one. What does it matter if they're nearly touching? That doesn't prove a thing.
The second and third one make it seem like, since they're fighting partners, that they just watch each others back during a fight.
That third pic just looks like they posed for the camera or something. Plus, how come girls can pose like that and people will assume that they're best friends and that's the reason, but when boys pose people automatically assume they're gay?

4th pic: Actually, I find nothing wrong with that shirt. Is it the color that makes it the "gayest shirt you have ever seen"? Seriously, it takes alot of courage for a guy to wear pink. There's absolutly nothing wrong with it.

5th pic: Well, have you stopped to think that, since this show was made back from 1990-1994, maybe that's how people danced then?

6th pic: That pic is just Kurama cutting Yuusuke hair. In the episode "Topside", Yuusuke had said Kurama cut his hair.

7th & 8th pic: I see nothing wrong with those pics. They're... Sitting around... Is it gay for a couple of guys to sit around?

Remember that all of this happened back before Shounen-ai got big. Seriously, characters never ran around doing REALLY gay things. Like Gundam Wing. There were A LOT of hints.

Back in the 90's, a hand on the shoulder is like a kiss now. Long hair, flowers, they fit Homosexual stereotypes. Him and Hiei are VERY close. Of course, nothing can be proved.

But you can't prove he's straight either. IT's not like "If you're not gay, you must be straight." Like straight is the default.

There isn't any CONCRETE evidence that he's gay or bi, only inferences and reading between the lines.
