Please pardon a double posting, but this one has nothing to do with the first so I really wanted to divide them.

Does anyone have suggestions or ideas on how to craft Asuka's "ears"? The little redish trangles she wears all the time like hair clips that are actually part of her EVA uniform. I'd really like to fashion a pair for myself to wear to a Spring anime con.

Thanks in advance for any help people can give me!

Though it's probably more costly, I'd just stick with the COSPA version being sold in Japan.

J-list has them in stock right now. They're worth taking a look at, at least.

I started looking down that list, and the further I got, the more certain I was this was damaging my sanity bar. Asuka witch figurine? Girl dressed up as Rei porn? Asuka doing clean-up duty in the classroom diorama? An eva-themed pachinko game for the DS? Gothic Lolita Rei? "Puchi-Eva", some sort of DS game that features "competing with the other characters for a slice of cake that Misato has prepared." DOES ANYONE REMEMBER MISATO'S COOKING? The only way I'd compete for that cake is the right to eat something else. >.<

Still, those hair-clips be mighty temptin'.

That is indeed quite a page you linked for us Nitro. I have to second Sybrid's quip on sanity.

On the other hand, even if I don't buy them via this site, the image is a great close up shot for reference in making my own. Thanks for that if nothing else. Assuming I do get these things made on my own, I'll post pictures for all of you.

If the average emo kid's mother died when they were a child, their father went, "******** this whole 'raise kids' s**t," and tossed said kid out to relatives to be raised, with the end result being the kid being raised by their teacher... Yeah, srsly. Most emo kids these days b***h and moan about nothing more important than "my parents won't get me an xBox 360. I hate them."

Shinji had something slightly bigger than an xBox and slightly more sinister for him to worry about.

And he was trying to get away from it, and just find general, genuine happiness in life, not material goods or a reason to hack and slice at his wrists.

Your stereotypical "emo" is acting as part of a social group, whether he/she will admit it or not, and is choosing to effect their attitude. Shinji gets his emo qualities by truly experiencing tough, emotionally scarring events in life. Huge difference well seen by Shinji's desire to escape his 'emo'ness vs the stereotypical 'emo' relishing the idea that they are somehow outside the mainstream of teenage life.

I agree that Shinji has good reason to act the way he does. Serious parent/family issues are some of the most traumatizing things that can happen to a person.
