Thanks!^^ I used black liquid RIT dye in almost-boiling water. His joints didn't take the dye, so I used black spray paint for plastic on them.


cool, i may have to try that sometime! do you just buy that stuff at like, a craft store or...?

You can buy Rit dye at any craft or local hardware store. Walmart carries it too. =3
We sell it at the hardware store that I work at.

If you want to dye the doll a color that doesn't come in the spray paint for plastic, you can just primer it with plastic primer (we sell it in a spray can) and then you can go over with whatever paint you want. =3
Exactly. If you're planning on spray painting a regular BJD (the doll I just dyed is vinyl) you'll probably want to suede the joints to help stop the paint on them scratching off.

I love BJDs but all the lovely full size ones just cost too much for me so I put together a vinyl doll. She's got a dollfie head and obitsu body all at 1/6 scale. Long dark brown hair and lavender acrylic eyes.

Also I did a paint job on the whole body 'cause they didn't quite match, my first attempt at the face up was decent. However, as soon as I find a gentle way to remove the paint, I'm thinking of redoing it completely.

What brand of spray paints adhere well to plastic?

Rustoleum has a line of universal spray paints that adhere to plastics. they also have a line just for plastics, including the plastic primer.
I'm fairly sure that Krylon has a line for plastics too.

Just read the cans, it will usually say right on the front of the label. ^_^

I'd just get the plastic primer and then get any color I want.

I've got a head coming in sometime this week 8D I spent about two to three weeks trying to get an '05 Juri head (and I almost had one in an auction on DoA but someone grabbed it for the buy price instead >w< wink and the other night I got one off of ebay. *happy dance*

Now I just need to save up enough for the wig and eyes .___.;
     

Don't like the new layout? Neither do I.
