Welcome to Gaia! ::

Its an old Magazine-fed cap pistol.
Maybe you experts out there can tell me about it?

No one thinks this is cool? I love it, now all I need is some cap gun rounds.
cap gun or rubber bullets/pellets?

My grandparents used to have them for us kids to play with. They didn't hurt unless you fired it point blank on skin (point blank as in hovering right above your skin). Even then it wasn't too bad.

Its an old cap gun, it uses a cap tape roll and you put it into the magazine and into the pistol.

Yeah I know what you are talking about, the small amount of gun powder in the caps can give a slight burn because the heat produced when ignited.

This is crazy cool. Hang on to it. I don't know how much it's worth money-wise, but in nerd value...it's got both the Man From U.N.C.L.E. logo and it's from Ideal Toys Corp, so I'd price it fairly high. Wish I had one. biggrin

Ha, ha. Thanks. I only know about the show cause my dad tends to tell long, rambling stories about this or that tv show....
That is cool. surprised
Most of the toy guns I buy I get online for like a buck and then steampunk them up. When I first get them, they're all silly looking and brightly colored. -_-
You found a real gem. smile

Yeah. Most folks I know buy Nerf but I find the cheap-o ones work nicely and I like the lights and ray gun sounds, plus they're affordable so when I sell them, I can offer really competitive prices. Now that I think about it, I actually don't have any good, close up pics. Just ones taken from too far away or on on my phone...I'd take some but I live in the dorms at my university and all my good guns are in my workshop back home. (That sounds sooo strange...)

Oh, yeah, spray paint's the best thing to use. Depending on the look I'm going for I'll use a red, black, blue or brown base coat, usally in a matte finish. Once the base coat's done, I do a top coat in the color or shade I want in a glossier finish, then I spray a little paint close-range into a cup and use a brush for the little details. For age and wear, I use Rub-n-Buff. It's your bff when you're dong guns. You can use it for the detailing too.

Alright, thanks that helps a lot. Have you ever tried using flat spray paint? Krylon flat spray paint is the bomb when doing camo paint jobs. Also spray fixative helps keep it from rubbing off.
