A friend of mine collected BJDs in high school, and I always thought they were pretty but I couldn't justify spending so much money. @_@

they make less expensive ones, but i doubt that's what you're looking for in terms of BJDs :3
that said, this thread has moved here, if you'd like to chat more. ^^
Do know If you guys have seen these. but these doll's were available at tuesday morning stores across the usa. Yes $120 dollar Abjd dolls for 20 to 30 dollars. they are called hestia dolls. from JUN PLANNING. They Are great dolls. I have Six of them.
Here is a link to a photo of some of them. I have the 4 on the left. They are so Cute!
so you guys may want to check your local tuesday morning stores to see if they have any left. And tuesday morning stores have Monster high stuff from time to time for really cheap. as they are a close out store.
Here is one vid I found of them on you tube. I have the doll with the red Hair. that you can see in the Link below.
i really want to sew something by hand but im scared that it would take me forever in a day then it would end up looking like crap DX
Try doing something simple and small-like socks or leg warmers, or even a hat! Those sorts of things are kinda hard to do with a machine because of their size, and they won't take quite as long as a full-on outfit. Here's a bear hood pattern i made if you're interested http://projectartemis.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=96#/d4kw2tp
This is my VOLKS Eb-Beauty girl (she came as just a plain base) named Echo. As far as cost, she was only 18 dollars (i don't count shipping because it differs depending on where you live) and i just popped some eyes out of a Liv doll for her and made the clothes and wig. I would estimate that everything in this picture (including the scarf) only cost me $22.50 (USD). So my opinion on this is that you can do this very cheaply if you make lots of things.
I've never heard of a guy that collects BJDs (not that its strange, its actually really cool!). I always thought that people would think I was strange for spending time and money on a hobby that could be considered "freaky" (I'll admit, there are some pretty freaky dolls out there!).
What is it about the hobby that interests you the most?
My favorite thing about BJD's is how far you can go with customizing them. Second is making things for them >3< since buying stuff is really expensive.
