I take the item out of box and display it on a shelf. A few figures I keep in the original packaging, and I either stored them away or display them. For example, my Human Inuyasha Convention Exclusive figure is still in the box because of its low number (38/2000) and I have it displayed on a shelf.

It all depends on what it is. I usually take it out though.

I don't see the point in leaving it in the box. If I buy something I want to be able to touch it, to do whatever I damn well please with it. In my eyes if you leave it in the box then that suggests you're attempting to keep it's value and therefore intend to sell it some day. I have no intention of selling the things I collect.

For instance I own one of the rarer Living Dead Dolls which is worth... not a huge amount of money but enough to buy groceries at least, and I've opened it, played with it, the box even got a little messed up when I moved. *shrug* I don't intend on selling it so I don't care.

[Note: I have two good friends who keep their stuff in boxes and yet I KNOW they have no intention of selling them. This doesn't go for all people I am AWARE. It's just my immediate impression.]

Out of the box! I'm never going to sell my figures again anyways, and it's so much funner to be able to look at them from all angles and display them.

I do like to keep the boxes though, often the packaging material is perfectly molded to them and it's the best thing to use when moving. That way nothing gets damaged~

I'm somewhat split here. Some toys I have for sentimental reasons, and those I proudly display in package, as I don't have a yearning to open them (my 25th Anniversary Flint and Lady Jaye, re-issue Soundblaster), but some I keep packaging in case I'm not sure how long I'll display them, if I do at all.

This little girl didn't care what anybody said

I like to keep the collector Barbie dolls in their boxes so their hair doesn't get all frizzed, but other than that, I like to see the models/barbies etc. xD

she got the whole world dancing to the music in her head.

99% of the time I buy something for me, not for resale, so I don't care if it's out of the box. The only thing I still have never opened is my 1996 Olympics Barbie since I got two for my birthday and one still in its original box may or may not be worth some money one day.

Depends what the figure is if it's a new figure go ahead take it out of the box but if it's and old figure like a thundercats or transformers one keep it in the box or you might of just taken of 100-200$ of it's value.

hell with leaving it in the box. i play with what i buy. im very careful with my collectibles. even if its out of the box, people will still pay big money later on in life. opened star wars toys from the 70s and 80s can still go for 300-500 or more dollars. if you got toys, rock on! play with them or they will be like stinky pete.

To heck with the box, I'm opening it to display it. There has only been one time I didn't open a box, and it was for a Johnny Lightning Trans Am I got a while ago.
