Welcome to Gaia! ::

I really want to build one of these but I've never built one before. Can anyone recommend something simple for me to build ( No SD's please ) and do they come painted? Thank you! 3nodding
They are molded in the colors, some require little or no painting [ They come with stickers ]. But, do need panel lining. I recommend 1/144 High Grades, most are around twenty bucks.

Thank you. How hard are High Grades to complete?

Not to Hard XD It aint like like a Master Grade. Just buy whatever and build it, see how you like it.
Alright thank you. I think I'll start with something that looks easy like a Zaku or a Leo then work my way up. biggrin You've been very helpful, thank you!
firstly, google is your friend, googling tips and tricks can help you unerstand what you can do to your models, to make em better. As for whats a good starter, really anyting high grade is a good start, since they're arent a lot of parts( compared to the other grades) to them, my advice, start with a 1/100 scale, they're a middle road in terms of parts size and amount. as Moon said, the parts dont require painting, but, it can allow you to make your own " custom paint" unit. testors paints work quite well.

as for toolkit, for construction a sprue cutter is a definite requirement, for stickers you should use a tweezer, and a hoppy knife can be a nice addition to add details to some parts anyway) also, invest in a file set and sandpaper.

Edit: what shops sell them around your place? if anything take an inventory then decide.
SD, HG, MG (the ones i've tried doing) are not so different each other, nor so hard. Y'know, the basic difference in its making is only the number of parts and stickers, and decal (if the kit has it). in which it results in the number of time and willpower needed to complete XD

putting the SD aside cos you dont want it, i suggest starting with a HG (1/144) like liako said, cos it has lesser parts, stickers, cost less money, etc. As for the kit ( i know, there's a lot of HG 1/144 out there), i suggest taking something you like if you've known some or alot about gundams, or the one that catches your eye the most in the place you're getting it, if you're new to the world of gundams.

I'm aiming for a 1/144th high grade. I don't have any stores near me selling them, so I have to look at hobbywave. I'm also unsure of what model to pick to build, so many to chose from LOL!
Look from Gundamstoreandmore to Hobbylink, amazon and such. Look for the best deal.

Just a simple one to start out with you know. 3nodding
A GM huh? Nice basic choice. In my opinion, I'd go with the HGUC Unicorn in Unicorn mode. Only comes in two colors, not that many stickers (or painting if you desire) needed to do, and it leaves a feeling of accomplishment upon completion which I feel is important.

If you're ready and willing to step up to Master Grades on the other hand, I cannot recommend the Katoki redesigns of the Wing Gundams, especially the Wing itself. Nice and small, everything goes together well, and they're very well designed, despite each of them essentially sharing the same frame.

I'm actually having some hard time with that site though, that and the 20 dollar shipping fee to Canada is really outragous for a liner marker and a single 20 dollar kit. For that same price I could get this alot less cheaper even after shipping. Though it's not what I want, that website also has less models on it. I'm only considering it for the marker.
Eh, that's a nice starter kit, and I know the people there, they're very close to Canada. If anything, I'd also check on Amazon, since that's how I usually procure my Gunpla, and a lot cheaper than from HLJ

Actually I went and got my kit from CanadianGundam. I got an Edge Marker as well. I ordered this:

Aha! Actually doesn't look too bad! Might pick up a MG version of it when I get the cash (and if it exists). Hope you have fun with it!
