It's not. They're just finally bringing Tyreese into the storyline. I love him in the comics.
He's a beast. He merc'd a gym full of walkers with only a hammer - and without a scratch - in the comics.
A lot of people, including myself, thought that T-dog was supposed to be the TV version of Tyreese. But everyone figured out pretty quickly that that wasn't the case.
I recenty started reading the comics, it's a surprise to me how much of a difference there really is.
But i enjoy the show and the comics equally.

I'm waiting to borrow the 8th hardback collection from my brother. He's into TWD too, he's been getting the books as they come out (so I see no reason to drop ~$40 on the books for myself).

I am lucky to have friends who like The Walking Dead, and will let be borrow their books, there is no way that I would buy them for myself.
