I don't think that the Forums are that important. Yes, there are lot of topics and posts but most of them are irrelevant and stupid.

That's very similar to real life.

There are more stupid people than there are roleplayers.

And besides, Gaia's primarily a forum sight. That's the main attraction, and zOMG!'s just a sidegame that dropped in popularity.
