What does the Protection status thing do/mean?
Also, I can't figure out how to attack...

I remember reading the guidlines that say protection mean that nobody can attack you but in turn means that you give up protection when you decided to attack someone.so then people can attack you againg. I forgot how you can get it, sorry sweatdrop
As for attacking people, you should see a big attack button on the bottom of people's avis.
