Eh, it's just off a book. (Well, series of books...I never made it past the first one myself. It wasn't terrible, it just didn't interest me enough to go on in the series.) I suppose I could explain it if you want, but you're not missing out on tons in my opinion.

i liked the hunger games novels. the author didn't demonstrate a tremendous amount of writing dexterity, but i found the plot captivating enough to keep me interested throughout the series.
