What makes a good avatar to you?

Some people obsess over color coordination, which is nice (I guess) but anyone can do that.
Just looks like a posed mannequin sans personality that's kind of nice to look at for 2 seconds because the colors agree.

I appreciate an avatar that represents a snapshot of a character in a moment.
Characters are the best avis imo, but if you can build a story around the character that's even better.

I also like really simple and clean avatars if they're done well, but I like to pile on the items meself mrgreen

It's the personality of the user that matters right? Not the clothes they put on their avatars
