Goodness, I'm going to sound like a stereotypical bitchy atheist for doing this but:

Atheism by definition isn't a religion, it's an absence of the belief in a God (or rather, a belief in the absence of a God). Essentially, Atheist is anyone who doesn't believe in a God. The counter to a Theist (who believes in a God). The only reason people call themselves Atheists is because there aren't that many atheistic religions.
