Ok, I feel quite retarded for doing this. I have this essay I have to write, and I can't figure it out.

Could someone help me get started on it?

The topic is:
"Show how the ideas of the competing political positions on the creation of the new national government continued down to at least the time of the Civil War."

(Its for my American History class in case you couldn't tell.)

Maybe i would help you if my history class had teached me anything about the topic. But since i live in Germany we didn't care much about the history of the USA (except for basic things like the Boston Tea Party and the Independence War or the participation in the two world wars.)
