God smiteth my Cayenne Peppers!

So Im trying to grow Cayenne Peppers, not for any reason in particular, they're just nice to have. Unfortunately, after over a month of attempting to grow them, Im convinced I made to many Jesus jokes one night or something, and God is pissed off at me. I had my sixth attempt to grow them, sitting outside on my porch, and like all the others, the night I forget to bring them inside, a horrible thunder storm blows by, and smites my peppers into oblivion. There are 5 other, lighter plants on my porch that dont belong to me, and they escape unscathed. Yet mine gets thrown off the porch, and all traces of it are scattered beyond recognition. It boggles the mind. Has anyone else tried to grow these peppers and had such issues ninja ? Discuss losing poor baby plants cry .
