Tomboyish girls don't always brag about shopping in the boys' section - actually, a tomboy is less likely to talk about shopping at all, since shopping is typically a feminine interest (not always but typically). I can tell you from experience that I've never had any interest in dressing feminine or girly, but it's never been for attention - everyone has different interests and that includes style, and my favourite style is just jeans, a T-shirt, and sneakers. I almost never talk about it with people so it's not like people know that I don't wear skirts or anything, and people don't always make assumptions like that, considering plenty of girls can go from dressing masculine one day to dressing feminine the next. At least plenty girls in my area, anyway - you'll see a girl in an oversized shirt and sneakers one day, and the next day she'll be in a mini-skirt and heels, so people here know not to judge someone based on their mode of dress.
