they just get a shitload of bonuses like extra settlers and units at the start, more happiness, more starting techs, faster production etcetc

anyway atleast i play it on prince, sometimes higher, usually though i play on raging barbs

it depends what map settings and random bias you will have, wether or not to play on higher than prince. imo
