I'm Australian. I've heard those "Australian" accents on TV. And - they don't exist. NO ONE I've ever met speaks that way, or has ever met someone who speaks that way. It's just exaggerated - we speak a little like it, but mostly it's just actors who are payed to speak like Australians and can't do it very well. mad

Maybe you haven't heard all the accents from the different parts of Australia?

They are very much real.

I have two aussie friends.
One's really tall and one's really short.
They have lighter accents.
One's from the west, and one's from the east.

>w< I like having them as my friends.
Because we can get them to put on a heavier accent and say, 'Yo momma works at McDonalds.'

As far as accents go, I could care less.
My friend's obsessed with accents, though.
We have this teacher.
Who teaches me German.
When she came to talk to us about our language selection choices, my friend turned to me and said,
"OMG! STRAY! IT'S A FRENCH ACCENT!"

Only to have me turn and say,

"Dobby, that's German."

Just because people are obsessed doesn't mean they can hit them accurately.

I don't even know the point of this post.
I just needed something to do.
