A study conducted to determine whether men were able to be bi-sexual was also preformed on women for comparison.

The results showed that women were more capable of being attracted to the same sex.

Perhaps some girls do it for attention, but I would think that most of them feel genuinely attracted to the same gender.

I think there are a few girls who do claim to be bi just because it attracts boys' attention, but I don't think it's a 'trend' as you so eloquently put it. I dunno, but from where I'm came there's nothing too good to be bi or gay, becuase people still don not accept it, so I haven't being in close contact to that situation. But here, people wouldn't say 'Hey, you know what? I'm bi' unless it was really true, c'os it wouldn't look too good.

yeah, I think that's the new trend. tatu anyone? people at my school, they used to say 'i love you' to eachother just as a joke, platonically, not sexually or anything. but now its like i love you SEXUALLY! basically, it's become some kind of attention-whore product. a cliche.

I think it's a trend in small part because, through popular mediums like music videos and movies and stuff... not to mention porn becoming more mainstream through the internet, (since most of them are made by men and geared towards men) there has been an increased portrayal of lesbians and bisexual activity among women, whereas in men it's still a little more taboo. couple that witht he way women are more highly sexualized in culture, and you have a recipe for girls either a) thinking it's cool, or b) (and I think this is the more relevant factor) knowing it's okay to feel attracted to both sexes and letting their inhibitions fade. besides, a lot of girls have much more intimate and close relationships with their girlfriends... so add it all up and you have more girlfriends becoming girlfriends.

Have to agree to a point. I believe some are actually attracted to the same sex. Male or female it happens, it's in nature as well. But I won't get into that. It IS a fad but it's also a jump of acceptance in scoceity. because of this we see more highschoolers experimenting instead of in college (which was deemed the experiamental time period in a person's life). Many do it for attention, I know more than a few who openly admit it, but find they enjoy it as well. Also the fact that it's easier (usually) to relate to the same sex plays a large roll. In the end however i think this will fade with time when the whole "Gay Rights and Liberty" movement ands and people actually begin to accept it besides become shocked.

Me? I'm a striaght. My view point? Have at, enjoy your life. But, in the end some people get screwed over. Wait a little longer past high school to experiment!

okay im a lesbian (no im not just trying to be cool i swear!) and i do agree with this. i think that most people are bisexual, but lean toward homosexuality or heterosexuality. whichever. but i believe that a girl saying she is bi (in the sense that she likes boys and girls pretty equally), is basically her trying to seem openminded and cool, either that, or i find that it means that one can have sex with whoever they want. which is kind of annoying. anyways, those are my thoughts.

For my oppinion it's kinda 50/50.
It is true that a lot of them are doing it for attention, but it might be that people aren't as affraid to "come out of the closet" as they used to.

many women including myself are finding it to be more rewarding to be with a girl. men nowadays aren't that great... It's easier to express your feelings because other girls can relate, this in turn leads to an easier and happier relationship.

Fantastic Point! kudos for you!..exactly, quite a few guys do actually consider girl on girl hot...I find it very discusting and extremely wrong, the fact that so many homosexuals get the repuation as being slutty and all about sex is becouse of these effin morons who do it just to get attention! I am SO sick of people that arent interesting enough to get a man so they fake there sexuality..I personally think that anyone who claims themselves "bi" is a fake...its black and white people...the truth will come out no matter what you f-bags think...

It is not black and white. If you asked me to decide between girls and guys I wouldn't be able to. I slightly prefer girls, but i could never stop liking guys. It's not fake, it's an actual orientation.

i agree, it isn't black and white. i, myself, am considered to be bisexual with preference to girls. some people insist i'm a lesbian that doesnt want to admit it (if i am, i dont know it yet sweatdrop ) but i definitely know other girls and guys that are truly bisexual, as well as a few gay/lesbian ones.
then there are the bi-curious people... they amuse me.
however there are definitely girls out there that claim to be bisexual, just for the attention factor.

What are you doing determining your sexual preference at 13? God, my first time with a woman was at 17 and I would have never even thought of the idea of trying to ride both sides of the road.
