Which is better a stickshift or an automatic? I prefer a manual, better gas mileage, less problems, and a lot more fun to drive.

For my daily commute to work or the grocery store I prefer the Automatic. While a manual transmission makes driving fun, it's very distracting if you're not a very good driver or recently learned how to drive stick.

Good point. It does depend on where your driving and the weather. I know when it's snowing one less thing to concentrate on is better. I use to drive to a college in the middle of a very large and busy city. And trying to navigate one ways, traffic, and pedestrians was enough of a headache without constantly shifting.
Stick just like being in control of the whole car.
Manual, because I'm not lazy and I like having more control over my car.

Standard all the way, I actually get a bit of a headache when I drive an automatic.

Ohhhh yeahhh, all for you Crimmy.
In my current e30 I much more enjoy a manual for autocrossing. But when it comes to dragracing I would rather have an automatic; predictable and fast.
Automatic. =P

It wouldn't hurt me to learn to drive a manual, though.
I just don't think I'd want to own one. Driving a stick sounds like something
that would be a royal pain around here, especially in morning traffic.

I think about this a lot, I'm not a good driver since I spend most of my time on a Motorcycle, for so many reasons, but I've traveled to many states in my cars and I think I'd be more comfortable with an Automatic. I do love the benefits of driving a standard, controlling your RPMs, gas mileage, but as much as I can multitask in the car, I would keep messing up since I'd be so used to the motorcycle's shifting system.
-They're cheaper than autos (price wise).
-If you get bored behind the wheel, a stick keeps your hands moving, and your mind alert, as you're multi-tasking
-They're cheaper to repair/maintain than autos
-Better gas mileage
Can autos be started the same way sticks are, if your battery is dead and you've no one to give you a jump? I mean the old school way (my dad used 3 times a week in his renault) of just rolling it down a hill, and when you get enough speed, popping it in first gear and revving it up.
