Welcome to Gaia! ::

Yep, Dad's coming with me, and when it comes down to it I'm pretty good at being objective. I may day dream about this car or that car, but ultimately I'm just looking at which one will suit my purpose and is in my price range.

I guess my big question is whether there are any particular things I should be looking at with used cars to make sure it's one that will last me a few years. I'm sure my Dad knows some, but I'm just wondering if there is anything anyone else looks out for as well.
Side note: Of course it would be snowing outside when we're planning on towing my car an hour south to the dealership... stressed figures...
Well, I ended up with a new Kia Rio because the payments are virtually the same as their used models and all of the cars I'd seen online were right around the 100,000mile mark.

Not quite what I'd hoped for, but it's a nice car. The only things I don't like are that it lacks cruise control, power windows, and power locks.. and it's BRIGHT red, but those are small things. I'll probably get cruise installed in a few months anyway.

They have a really nice, standard, 10yr, 100,000 mile warranty on their new cars and I was able to haggle a MUCH lower interest rate and payment than they had lead with originally, so that was nice! Now to train the kids to lock their doors when they get out! At least I can get back to work Monday ^_^

Good deal not a bad pick I like the new kia's my friends as the forta and it's bad a** I've head good things about the new rio and it's not bad looking for what it is.
I couldn't live without power windows. I don't have power locks, but I have central locking. Do you have that at least?

Edit:

Forgot to say. Congrats on your new purchase. I hope it gives you years of good, headache free service.
Thanks guys, and Chronos, I have no idea what central locking is, so I'm going to go with no... I've already had to bark at the little boy I nanny several times for opening his window (while it was raining -_-) Hopefully he'll get the message and stop playing with it...
