Turns out the power steering busted a hose. So I need to get a replacement hose, but I have had no luck finding the right part at local auto parts stores.

The car is a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2, and the hose is the one that connects to the reservoir, but not the pump. It's shaped like a J, but every shop I go to shows me something straight. Any ideas on how I can locate this part, other than digging through a junkyard?

or just go round back behind the parts counter and start going through hoses

Yeah, the problem is, the hose I need is very specific, but it's not listed in any of the catalogues I looked through. All they have listed are the hoses that connect to the pump.

Take a picture of it

Cultist

worst case scenario, you buy it from the dealership
or, a junkyard

Yeah, I called the dealership. The car is so old they don't even make the part any more. So, I have to find a junkyard that has it, or get it specially made...
Buy a piece of hose with the same interior diameter as the one that broke and just clamp it in. It might cost you $3 for the hose and $2 for the clamps.
the hose they have is straight because you need to bend it yourself.

I was going to suggest this. Rubber hose and two hose clamps, boom you're done.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I ended up doing. Of course, come to find out, that wasn't the only problem: The high pressure line coming out of the pump popped its fitting. So it's in the shop now.
