That's how is it here too. xp Crazy insurance companies! xp Do they know about the 4-door sports cars?

I like the fact that I can have a 74 nova with a 350sbc, pushing more than 300bhp, or a 1980 Firebird with a 400 bbc, pushing over 400bhp, cost me less than $75 a month to insure, but my 02 mustang with airbags, abs, and a v6.. is over $120. XD

What do you mean? Like, sell them? Insurance companies insure cars that are used or new, so I'm not sure what you're asking.

My dad is handing me over the Dodge Charger once I get my license and i know the insurance is gonna sky rocket even more. It's already high for him I have no idea why. We got the really cheap model just because it was affordable and on sale for 15k.
I don't get why the insurance is high. The engine is a P.O.S. 2.7 and doesn't even pull 200 hp.
Is it because of the model name?

I'm not an expert on automotive insurance, but they don't evaluate vehicles with a specific eye for performance.

There seems to be a disconnect between the tables that list the cost the insurance company expects to incur when insuring a certain vehicle and the performance figures of that vehicle.

It seems the costs an insurance company expects to incur are based largely on the value of a car (without taking into account accessories, work performed on the vehicle, condition of the vehicle or its parts), its configuration as far as seats and doors are concerned, and how a specific trim level of a vehicle is marketed. This last possible concern of an insurance company may help the company anticipate the manner in which the vehicle is likely to be driven.

I think the best way to anticipate insurance costs is to call an insurance company and ask for a quote.
