By painting it a chameleon purple and putting a cheesy a** dragon vinyl on the hood.
Please keep in mind this car was built in the mid-late 90s, aka during the days ricing out a car meant you were a vietnamese or chinese gangster during a time when 'fully built' cars meant having intake, exhaust, headers, nitrous, and MSD ignition kit.
No, in mid-late 90's "fully built" meant Stroked 2.8L RB26DETT bored .040 over running 32lbs of boost on custom order forged internals, including knife edged crank, cammed out like a ******** Tuned using a stand-alone fuel management system
6-piston calipers, 13" drilled and slotted rotors, carbon fiber driveshaft, double-syncro transmission, or a Dogbox
Racing coilovers with multiple track setting adjustments, and fully done suspension system complimentary to desired track specifications, and properly corner-balanced
Some of use were in this before fast and the furious kid >.>
different viewpoint of the culture. your idea of 'fully built' hasn't changed over the years and certainly was a staple term for many, but it didn't change the fact at the time much of the US was still in that 'f** and furious' stage well before the movie came out. In fact, gran torino would be in a way, slightly more accurate.
Look at the types of cars that were featured in the american mags during that time that catered to imports like IT, IR (back when it was still around), and SS. basic bolt-ons got respect, going above and beyond got you features, but most of the population still preferred being ostentatious in regards to the exterior and in sound.
also, for the record i have yet to see any average enthusiasts rocking a $10k~$15k Dog mission/Dog box, let alone a carbon driveshaft when a titanium single-piece is far more cost effective. also, racing coilovers with multiple track settings doesn't mean much considering you have half-assed companies like K2 and Megan doing 24 ~ 48 way adjustments that're absolutely silly and pointless.
You've clearly been hanging around the wrong crowds then
more like they're what i've been avoiding for so many years as far as rice is concerned. while in japan they built high end vehicles as a way to make power and dodge the 'taxes increase by engine displacement' rule, they obviously don't have that issue here in the states. money also becomes a factor where in japan, a product isn't considered reliable if it isn't expensive. This led to us and taiwanese companies jumping into teh business of knockoff parts and the trend of looking fast without actually doing so.
...ok now back to skylines since threadjack is semi-obvious lol.
