Ambitious
If you're just doing track days, go for it, but if you wanna take it a bit more seriously, I wouldn't recommend the MR2
The car will jade you from a typical car's capabilities

An MR platform is very capable, but it's not typical
If you managed to really get used to it, the moment you switch to a more normal FR or FF platform, you're going to run into under/oversteer issues

Normally anyways, not always

It's also kind of a difficult platform to start on, cause when things go wrong, they go tragic

I'd recommend an older BMW, you can't really go wrong with an M3 or anything with M-sport suspension.
