Dry Eyes, Though They Should Be Wet...
Elli Adalinda Doser
Elli knew she needed to get back home, needed to make sure that everything was right for the morrow. She also knew she needed time to think. She hadn't meant to contact Colton today, but now it had happened. With all the messages and calls he had attempted with her, she was sure they had a decent connection, though she really did wish she knew what it was. Of course, that also left her wondering if there was any way for her to find out. Did Avril know who she was before? Would Avril answer her questions? Maybe it was time to find out, at least a little bit. Her foot dropped a bit more heavily on the accelerator. She wanted to be home, and she hoped Avril would be in her apartment as well.Pulling into the lot outside their apartment building, Elli stepped out of the car and let her eyes wander in an attempt to find Avril's vehicle. The Black Nissan Coupe sat in their usual spot, and Elli found herself biting at her inner lip as she made her way toward the building. Avril was home, or at least her car was. Hopefully, the woman hadn't gone running off without the vehicle. Elli wanted to talk to her as soon as possible. She had no idea what she should do and, while Avril may not always be her favorite person, it was the only person she had right now.
Stepping into the building, Elli felt her phone vibrating, its music growing louder as she pulled it from her pocket. A nervous smile touched her lips as she read Colton's message, happy that she wouldn't be inconveniencing him, but not really sure how to respond to his question.
To: Colton
I'll see you there then.
Something big happened.
I don't know how to explain without seeing you.
And I'll bring what I had on me the night we were supposed to meet.
I'll see you there then.

I don't know how to explain without seeing you.
And I'll bring what I had on me the night we were supposed to meet.
She hadn't dared to open that bag, not knowing what she would find, or if it would even mean anything to her. It still sat in her bedside table, the same place it had been ever since she had moved into this apartment. The apartment. How was it that she was staying in a place this nice and her parents hadn't found it? She had signed the lease in her name, and they wouldn't take straight cash, so there was every record they would need to track the girl if they wanted to. They knew she was still alive, she knew that just from them occasionally still trying to contact her. She never answered, of course, there would be no point.
Black suede boots carried her up the stairs of the apartment building to her floor, and she made her way into the apartment with shopping bags in hand. Dropping them on the red loveseat, Elli fumbled for her phone ringing out in her dress pocket. Spinning the phone open, she read over the message, biting at her lip as she tried to figure out how to answer Avril's inquiry. She wasn't really... bringing him, was she? It was more of just... 'Even so, I don't know who he is anyway.'
To: Avril
I'm not sure.
I think I have someone.
I actually wanted to ask you about that.
Are you home?
I'm not sure.
I think I have someone.
I actually wanted to ask you about that.
Are you home?
Keeping her phone in hand, Elli kicked her boots off near the door, and grabbed the remote off her circular glass end table. Flipping the power on for her 32 inch flat screen, she tossed the remote on the long red couch at the center of the living room, and let the sound of her favorite music channel drift to her ears. Stepping into the kitchen, she pulled the fridge open, biting at the inside of her bottom lip again. This whole thing had her bugging out a bit. A slender hand reached in to grab one of the blood bags hanging from the top shelf, and she bit into the side with a small growl. Kicking the fridge closed behind her, she made her way over and plopped back on the couch, letting cold blood slide back along her tongue down her throat. Her meal earlier had taken the edge off sure enough, but with so much on her mind, she needed something to keep her thinking straight.
