Bellhart ranks as one of the top boarding schools in the United States--in everything: academics, arts, athletics. With a small student body and the near-guarantee of being accepted to the best colleges around the nation, the competition to get in this school is fierce.

But that's only half the battle. The rest is surviving your time here. Don't let the sweet name fool you. If meeting Bellhart's expectations isn't tough enough, there's the drama. Gossip buzzes around campus, fights break out, friends betray friends, and that b***h just stole your boyfriend. It's no wonder that a handful of students drop out each year with their tails tucked between their legs.

General
Be respectful. By all means, let characters argue and hate each other's guts, but that stuff doesn't belong out of character. If you have a problem with someone, try to talk it out with them.

Don't godmod, unless you have the other player's permission. If any fights happen, be fair and realistic.

Don't ignore anyone or their posts.


Activity & Posts
As far as literacy, quality over quantity. All of your posts should have thought and detail put into them, but don't add detail just to reach a certain length. Cut out the excess and get to what matters: characterization, interactions, and setting the scene. (This especially goes for morning posts; if the morning routine is of no true importance, summarize and get to the point.) With all this said, posts should be at least two meaty paragraphs. There is no maximum per se, but remember, quality over quantity. Don't give us a fourth paragraph if it isn't actually serving a good purpose.

Include a picture of your character and their name in all of their posts. Anything extra is fine but unnecessary. Pretty isn't everything. It's the actual post that matters, not the frilly stuff around it.

Post within 7 days of when it's your turn to reply. Being busy with real life is understandable. Just keep us updated. If you know you're going to be gone for a while, or if it's been about seven days and you know you still won't be able to post for a few more days, let us know! Give us permission to ghost your character if you have to, or make a quick post excusing your character from current interactions--in this case, a few sentences is fine.

If it's been about seven days and you haven't posted, and you haven't mentioned anything about why you haven't posted, then I will give the players who are waiting on you permission to move on without you. If it's been two weeks since you've posted and you still haven't said why, your character will be removed.

Try to be active in the OOC, linked in the first post in case you missed it. You might get more out of this roleplay if you socialize.


Characters
Real pictures only. The model should fit the age of the character. Don't use your own pictures or your own name--not even your username--for your character.

Characters must have flaws, and I mean more than being blunt, being naive, or being too nice. In fact, if your character is too nice, I'm going to decline them. Too nice doesn't work in a roleplay context.

Variety, please. Look at the characters that have been accepted and the ones that are pending approval. Do something different from them. I'm not saying every character has to be completely unique, but it's boring when three characters behave very similarly or when four characters are all good with instruments.

I will accept a limited number of gay and lesbian characters. Don't play a bisexual or a pansexual if you're only going to go after one sex.

No more than two characters per player. At least for now, a player can have only one girl character, unless there's otherwise a good reason for it.


Applying & Plotting
Since this roleplay has no overarching story, plotting is a must, and I mean more than just figuring out relationships. Try to come up with a plot idea with at least two other people.

If you're unwilling to put your character into conflict and allow them to make mistakes or make wrong choices, don't bother joining. Everything can't be all sunshine and rainbows, and we need characters with agency.

If you want to have certain plots for your character, say something! Unless you speak up, you might never get it. In general, if you have ideas for anything, such as school/special events, please share.

Post reserves in the Application thread and include a link to your samples thread. If and when I accept the reserve, you have three days to submit the profile to the Application thread. Please do not post in the OOC until after I have accepted your reserve.

After the profile has been submitted and before you make your first post with the character, make a schedule for them. No, we probably won't play classes even half of the time, but it's good to have for plotting purposes. Choose your character's schedule based on what's laid out in the Master Schedule post, and feel free to talk to others about sharing classes. Once you've given me their schedule, I'll add them to the master list.

Bellhart Boarding School resides in Pennsylvania. The closest town, which has the same name as the school, is ten minutes away and is one that most students will go to for fun or work. The school doesn't tolerate bullying of any kind, but that doesn't mean it won't happen when faculty isn't looking. The school does not have uniforms and requires all students to be in their dorms by 10:30pm.

Bellhart has these buildings:

1. The main building where most of the classes are held, including the library. The library is open until 8pm on the weekdays.

2. The auditorium, for concerts, plays, and assemblies, but once a quarter, they also showcase student artwork in the lobby. All music and acting classes are taught here.

3. The gym, which includes a fitness center and pool room, stands next to the track and fields. The fitness center is open for recreational use between 6pm and 8pm. The pool room is for swim meets only.

3. The building which houses student living needs. There's the cafeteria and the infirmary, which is open from 8am to 8pm every weekday. There's also an entertainment center with billiards, foosball tables, and darts. Just off of that is a lounge area with a TV. The center is open from 4pm to 10pm.

4. The two dorm buildings. The lobby of each one has mailboxes and a sitting area, and their basements have washers and dryers.

Student dorms come with a cable outlet, two single beds, two dressers, two closets, and two desks. Both dorms have two wings with 4 floors, each floor having eight rooms and a communal bathroom with showers divided by stalls.

More rooms will be added as they are needed.
