-----------------------------------I really don't like to.
-----------------------------------Lying just really isn't my thing.
-----------------------------------But when it's all I can do...

Hearing someone curse, though it wasn't very loud, Jake turned his head in the direction it came from and was met with a black-haired guy and a question. "Uh, yeah. I'm a councilor, though I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing." he attempted a grin, though he was still a bit annoyed, and stood to meet the other at somewhat of a same hieght. He briefly noted that he was taller than the other male, which was odd considering that he was generally shorter than average, but he stuck out a hand all the same. "I'm Jake. I'll assume you're the other councilor that I haven't met yet?" he asked before clarifying. "The forms I signed said that they were only accepting four people for councilors. I've met two and I'm one." he shrugged lightly at the explanation.

"Though you do look young enough to be a camper." another shrug accompanied this statement. "Then again, that could just be because you're a bit short..."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------'Sides, I'll come out eventually.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------I'll just do it on my own time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------And preferably they won't mind.

Chie accepted the handshake, shaking it slightly before letting go. "Yeah, I'm the fourth counselor...and it's not my fault that I'm short..." he muttered, sighing slightly. Part of the reason he was depressed was because he was short...

"My name's Chie Kotoana...It's...nice to meet you Jake..." he said. "So...what are we supposed to be doing at this camp?" he asked Jake, trying to strike up conversation, and was hoping it would divert away from the fact that he was short...

Riley heard Derek long before he came and sat beside him. He didn't say anything to break the silence that surrounded them. He would leave that to Derek since he knew his friend must have had some reason to come find him anyways. It was both nice and also stressful to have his ex just sitting there next to him. The urge to both punch Derek and kiss him silly was so strong inside Riley and he fought to keep his hands still. He didn't understand how you could be so mad at someone and yet still be in love with them, it was horrible and it drove him crazy.

He looked over at Derek when he spoke listening quietly to his words. He agreed with Derek about Josh, he didn't want to stress the kid out anymore. And with all the stress with the two of them right now he could see it landing Josh in the hospital or something. He opened his mouth to answer Derek but he just smiled at Riley and kept talking. He chuckled softly as his friends told him that his brother might be gay. He would just have to keep an eye out for him. He was sure Josh would find some cute kid anyways, he was sure there would be lots at an all boys camp.

He smiled back at Derek, "Well Josh is lucky to have an older brother like you then. I know you'll be able to help him out." He looked back out at the water and then grabbed a rock from the ground and tossed it in. "You know, I really want it to be a good summer too. For all of us. That's why I came here, I just wanted a fun summer like the ones we used to have. And to try and forget about you and what you did..." he said softly and then gave a small laugh. He shook his head, "Guess that's not going to happen now. Maybe that just means I'm not supposed to forget though. Maybe we're both supposed to be here."

He grabbed another rock and threw it into the water, more force behind it this time. "I'm still mad at you you know?" he said softly, "But you were right before...I don't need to treat you like crap and I shouldn't, so I'm sorry for being an a**." He picked up another rock, fingering it instead of throwing it this time. "I should hate you...for what you did. And I'm mad at you. But no matter how mad I get I can't hate you," he murmured, loud enough for Derek to hear but he was also talking to himself in a way. He didn't understand how he didn't hate Derek after that but he didn't. No, he was still very much in love with him. But that didn't mean that he trusted him anymore. That was gone now and he didn't know if it would even be back.

Derek blushed very slightly when Riley commented that Josh was lucky to have him as a brother. Riley always did that to him, he could always make him blush no matter what, like their first time he had been naked in front of people before so it wasn't a big deal for him but when he was naked in front of Riley he just couldn't stop blushing. "Yeah, I'll help him as much as I can... I mean, I'm so worried that he'll think that being gay is a bad this and wrong." He shook his head. "You remember how he reacted when I came home holding hands with you..." He looked out at the water trying not to look at Riley, because if he did, he would be able to see the love in Derek's eyes as he thought of that moment.

He chuckled. "GMTA. Great minds think alike. I came here, because this was the only place that ever really made me happy... Before you." He whispered the last part to himself. "You know I never told you this, because I thought that you would blame me for just being drunk... But I don't remember how it happened. I remember putting my drink down to kiss you goodbye, I was planning on leaving too just as soon as I said to Dylan, I mean he did host a pretty good party and that's all I remember... Besides... Waking up." He shook his head. "I have tried to remember why I would cheat on you. I don't understand. I mean I've been drunk before really drunk, and I've never done it before. I want to know why... But maybe like you not being able to forget. I'm not suppose to remember."

He got up from the floor knowing he probably made it awkward between them. Something that never would have happened before. "I know that you are still mad, Riley but I'm not mad I could never be mad at you no matter what you did to me. Hurt yes, but never mad. I'm too in love with you for that to happen. Just promise me when you move on, it's because you want to move on not because you want to hurt me but because you like the guy." He smiled. "I just want you to be happy." He touched Riley's shoulder before he headed out of the cove.

                              ~{J} o s h {M}ichael {L} a n c i n g~

                              ...isn't such a bad thing.

Josh opened his eyes not too long after Derek left. He was still sleepy and worn out, but blinked a few times to clear the blearyness. He took a deep breath, wincing at the little bit of tightness and grabbed his inhaler, taking a deep pull off it. He exhaled and slipped the object into his pocket, not wanting to let his brother know about it. Josh slowly got up and exited the cabin, wanting to head to get his guitar. He smiled as his hand closed around the leather case. "The best way to relax ever. In the whole world. I love this thing,"Josh said to himself as he took the guitar out of the case. He sat onto the bed with a soft thump and smiled. He picked up his pick and started to sing Hey There Delilah.

Josh took an easy breath before it caught in his throat from the dust in the air. He winced and his breaths started hitching up before coughs erupted through his pale lips. His eyes widened and he dug through his his pocket, digging out his inhaler before pressing it to his lips and breathing in deeply. Josh coughed again, wheezing in another quick breath before he shook the inhaler next to his ear. He paled when he didn't hear any medicine sloshing around in it. Josh never let his inhalers go empty, ever. "Oh s**t. I have to stay calm and text Derek. Just stay calm,"he wheezed to himself. He pulled out his phone and texted both his brother and Riley for some reason.

                                          To: Derek, Riley
                                          asthma starting up again
                                          inhaler is empty
                                          come quick

Josh hit send and took a shaky inhale of air. "I should've checked it. I should kn-know better than t-to l-let it r-run out. He's gonna be mad. I kn-kn-know it. C-crap, dizzy again,"Josh mumbled to himself as he shook the inhaler again before he pressed it softly to his lips again. He struggled to breathe in just a little bit of the albuterol mist, but there was none left. He let out a soft whine and coughed roughly, his chest rattling. He leaned forward and put his arms on his knees to try and open his lungs. "Owww. It really hurts t-to br-br-breathe. Derek, Ry, where are you? I need you,"he wheezed to himself, trying to calm himself down and relax enough to breathe. Josh looked down at the empty inhaler in his palm and gripped it tightly, hoping it could be his security blanket until his brother or Riley got there. He took another shaky breath, his throat tightening up at more dust entering his lungs before rough, wheezy coughs left his dry lips. Josh was too panicked and focused on breathing to even move out of the room.

((The guy singing in the video is my friend Matt, isn't he great?!!!!))

Riley stared out at the water as he listened to Derek's words. He caught his blush out of the corner of his eye and smirked softly. He always loved how he could make Derek blush. The corners of his lips turned in a smile when Derek mentioned the day that they had come home holding hands. That had been such a good day, despite how his brother had reacted.

Derek's next words quieted him and he just sat and stared out at the water after. "That's not what you told me before," he said quietly. He wished that Derek had just told him that in the first place. Riley had thought from what he;d said before that he'd gotten drunk and cheated on him purposely. The fact that Derek didn't remember anything after saying goodbye to him changed things, it didn't make it hurt any less and it couldn't erase everything that had happened since then but it helped to erase some of the anger.

He watched Derek get up and listened to him. He frowned at his words, "Derek you should know that I would never do something like that just to hurt you. And I can promise you that if you really want me too but I don't think I'm going to get over you anytime soon." He got up too and threw the rock in the water, watching in splash and make ripples. He moved and walked past Derek, "I still love you if you haven't figured it out yet." He shook his head and headed back towards the camp.

He felt his phone go off about halfway there and he looked at the message, surprised to see it was from Josh. And it wasn't good either. He swore softly and headed toward the cabins quickly. He knew Derek would be close on his tail. He had been hoping to have a little more time before seeing him again but making sure Josh was okay was certainly more important then anything between them, at least for the moment.

His heart thumped hard against his chest when he heard that Riley still loved him. Tears stung his eyes. It hurt to hear that coming from Riley's mouth, probably a lot more then to hear him say that he hated him.

He felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He pulled it put and his heart leapt into his throat. "Josh." He took off running he headed into the cabin that Josh had been in when he left. He wasn't there. He opened the bag of meds and grabbed a new inhaler. He headed back outside in a panic. He looked around and didn't see him where could he be?

He had to calm down and think. He headed into the cabin that Josh was in and a calm washed over him when he saw him. He quickly headed over to the boy and moved his guitar over. "You idiot! Why did you leave the cabin?" He said to the boy as he shook the inhaler and gave it to him. He rubbed his back and shook his head. "You have to be careful! What would have happened if my cellphone had died on me and I didn't get your message?"

He watched Josh carefully. Hoping that the medicine would work quickly. He shook his head. "You do something stupid like that again. I'm going to call mom." He threatened before he hugged Josh tightly. He was so worried about him.

Josh was trying to slow his breaths down when Derel ran into the cabin holding a new inhaler. He would have yelled in relief if he'd had the breath to even speak. He took a breath from the inhaler, his face pale and his eyes wide as he held his breath. He exhaled slowly and shook slightly, his eyes bloodshot and himself shaky and scared. Josh curled up quickly to his brother, gasping and wheezing for more air. He bit his bottom lip and looked down. "I wanted to play my guitar. I didn't think you'd care that much,"Josh mumbled with a wheeze. He coughed roughly and took another shaky breath. He didn't want to admit how freaked out he'd just gotten over the one attack.

Josh wondered where Riley was because he knew Derek had just been with him. He winced as he took a breath, it was painful for him to breathe through his tightened airways. His shoulders shook quickly as he tried to breathe deeply and slowly. Josh let out another wheeze, glancing nervously around at all the dust. He needed to get out of the cabin before he had another attack. Josh laid his head against Dereks chest, listening to his brother breathe. "Don't call mom. Honestly, I promise to let you know. I freaked out though. I couldn't help it,"he wheezed softly while looking down. He glanced at his phone and texted Riley again.

                                          To: Riley
come help derek calm me down
                                          please? sad

Josh hit send and took another shaky inhale of air. "I'm scared now. Don't leave please. I promise I'll let you know,"Josh mumbled as he took another shallow puff from the inhaler again. He was breathing short breaths, none of which actually seemed to be helping him. He rubbed his sore chest and cuddled to his brother even more. He handed the inhaler back and coughed roughly into his brothers chest. "Owww. It really hurts t-to br-br-breathe. Derek, can you get me out of this room?"he wheezed weakly, his eyes watering. Josh looked down at the floor, hoping Riely would get there to help him calm down. That was one reason he liked when his brother dated Ry, he was very good at calming him down and helping him keep his mind off gasping for air and coughing his lungs up. Josh coughed harshly again and let out a shallow wheeze, wincing and coughing even worse.

Riley was just getting to the doorway when he felt his phone go off again. He looked down and read the message and then chuckled softly. He looked up at Josh and smiled softly, "I'm here. Sorry it took so long. I had to stop and tell some kids where to go. What do they think I am? A councilor?" he joked. He winced as he heard Josh cough and then went over to them.

He sat down next to Josh and smiled lightly. "I thought I told you to calm down?" he said with a smile. He noticed Josh's guitar sitting there and grinned, "So, what songs can you play?" he asked. He knew that distraction was the best way to get the kid's mind off of coughing his lungs out. He was good at asking the kind of questions that distracted him, it tended to help that he was usually interested in the answers.

He glanced up at Derek as he waited for the answer but then looked back at Josh again. He wondered what Derek had thought about the conversation they had just had. He didn't really have a clue but he was curious to know. It bothered him that the silent communication that they had always seemed to have between them seemed different now, broken almost. He didn't like it at all.

He felt…completely ignored. Josh didn’t answer him at all. Didn’t say anything to what he had said. So…he just sat there. What else could he do? Was Alexis not worthy enough to talk to someone like Josh? Was it because of the way he dressed? The way he looked? With a roll of his eyes, he sighed and looked down at the ground…Then he watched as Josh got up and left the cabin. Now what? Not even a word. What was wrong with him? He sighed a bit and just sat there for a bit…But it was only moments later when Derek came running in. He grabbed a bag, then was out again. He shook his head and got up from his place and left the cabin as well, but he didn’t follow Derek. Instead, he just went toward the lake. He needed to get out a good cry, and he felt like going some place where he could be alone should do it. He didn’t like it when people saw him cry. It made him feel…like a baby. He didn’t want to be the baby here like he was at home.

But when he got to the lake…he saw his brother with some other guy there. He sighed and looked away from him and went over to where he couldn’t be seen. He wasn’t crying because he was being ignored by Josh…He was crying because felt ignored by Jake. Just with watching how Derek and Josh were, they…seemed so close. Alexis wished it was like that with him and Jake…but he felt like he got on his brother’s nerves…so he stayed away. There wasn’t anything he could do about that. Why would he want to get on his brother’s nerves? It would only make him…hate him more. He wiped his eyes that threatened to fill with tears and sat up against a tree. He kind of wished he could have gone with his parents now…He would have let them have their space. He could have gone somewhere else…maybe to their grandparents.

So, that was what he decided. Instead of spending the summer with his brother who ignored him, he’d go stay with grandma and grandpa. With that thought in mind, he got up and wiped his eyes once more before going over to Jake. He gave the two a small smile and sighed. “Jake…I’m…going to go stay with Grandma and Grandpa…This…camp thing isn’t really my thing…And you know how Grandma loves it when we visit her…” And besides, he liked staying with them. He and Grandma did a lot together, like baking and other things. It was always fun. He didn’t know why kids hated going to their grandparents. He loved going over there…

There he goes
He's walking away
And each step he takes
Brings heartache my way

Derek wrapped his arm around Josh and shook his head. "Damn it Josh, how could I not care? You are my brother, step brother sure but you still are my brother. I love you." He shook his head again and held him close to him hoping he could do something to help his breath better.

He smiled and rubbed his back. He knew his brother wasn't trying to scare him on purpose but he still managed to do a good job of it. He looked down at Josh when he rested his head on chest. "Alright no telling mom, I got it but I'm just worried about you okay?" As he thought he ran his fingers through Josh's hair, almost absent mindedly.

Josh's voice entered Derek's thoughts when he spoke again. "Huh? What are you talking about? Of course I'm not going to leave you kiddo. Not after another attack like that." He nodded when Josh asked to get him out of the room. He made a move to do so but Riley just came in.

His eyes moved to the door when he heard his voice. He rolled his eyes but was smiling when Riley joked. He watched him sit down next to Josh and looked at the guitar. He was so much better at this then he was, although he hated to admit it.

He blushed slightly when he saw Riley look at him and cursed himself for feeling like a little school boy with a stupid crush, but Riley always had that effect on him and it wasn't going to go away anytime soon. "We should get you to the other cabin." Maybe that 'girl' would be there, she seemed to know what to do when it came to asthma. He looked at Riley. "Hey, there is a girl here. I thought this wasn't coed?"

Josh took a shaky breath, his eyes widening as he tried to take a deep breath. He winced and snuggled up more to Derek, listening to the breathing. He knew they weren't actually related by blood, but they were so close you couldn't tell, plus they looked alike, so that helped. He looked up when Riley entered the room and smiled at his brothers friend weakly. Josh listened to the question and shrugged slightly. He played lots of different songs, he didn't usually stick to one genre like most people did. "I can play 'Hey There Delilah', 'Tattoo', 'I'm Always There', 'Playin With the Boys', 'Danger Zone', 'Flavor of the Week', and many more. I'm versitile with my musical selection,"Josh said weakly before coughing. He yawned softly and bit his lip hard. He was trying to keep another coughing fit from hitting and leaving him even more breathless than before. It was a hassle most times.

Josh let Derek run his fingers through his hair. He didn't like to admit it, but it made him relax alot more than he thought it ever would. Since his dad left when he was so young, he cherished every moment he had with people who cared about him. Josh coughed roughly again and closed his eyes tightly, taking a shaky breath of air. He looked at Derek again and let out a rough wheeze. Josh was stressing out as he looked down. "I can't breathe in here with all the dust. Can we please get out of here and continue with the calming somewhere else please?"he wheezed softly while looking down. He coughed weakly and took a shaky breath.

                                          From: Mom
how are you hun, having fun

                                          To: Mom
                                          i'm fine, yeah

Josh hit send and frowned slightly. "Mom texted me. I didn't mention anything though, and if she asks you, please don't tell her,"Josh said softly as he coughed again. He took another quick breath, his eyes flickering around nervously. He rubbed his sore chest again and cuddled to his brother even more. He took a breath from the inhaler again and coughed. "That was a guy you idiot. You play guitar, right Derek? When we get back to the other cabin will you play to relax me? I'd feel better,"he wheezed weakly with a smile. Josh knew how to make his brother cave easily. That was what made him seem weak though, he got his way easily. Josh curled up more to Derek and closed his eyes slowly, falling into a light sleep, his breaths quick, ragged and congested.

((This is my last post for today. I live on the east coast of the US, goodnight y'all. I'll post again after school tomorrow. Don't get too far ahead pretty, pretty please. Thanks y'all!!!!))

Get it back, get it back, get it back now
Right now and leave it all far behind
Get it back, get it back, losing track now
Lights out, it's the only way we're gonna survive
The thrill is gone we need a change
Don't hide, don't sugarcoat the pain

Riley Andrew Thompson

Riley smiled and nodded softly at the answer to his question. He was happy to have distracted Josh a little, at least he hoped he had. Still it didn't look like the kid was doing to well with the coughing still and his breath still sounded short.

He had to admit that he felt a little out of place as he watched Derek and his brother. It didn't really make sense to him why Josh had wanted him there so badly, it didn't really seem to him like he was much help. Still if it kept Josh calm and not having another attack it was fine with him. Still he had to admit, it felt a bit weird, especially in the wake of the conversation he had just had with Derek. He rubbed a hand over his face, this was going to be a weird and long summer, he just knew it.

He nodded in agreement about moving back to the other cabin. He hoped that the other councilors were still out for the moment because he was sure it would be a little awkward and all if the room go as full as it had before. He would also have to go and find Jake and Alexis too at some point, he still had to show them around and all, if they still wanted him to that was.

He chuckled at Derek's question about the 'girl' and was about to answer when Josh did for him. So instead he just stayed quiet, waiting to follow them back to the other cabin.

i WRiTE SiNs, NoT TRAGEDiEs . . .

Chie suddenly heard some kid coming up to Jake, talking to him about going to his grandparents. He blinked, noticing that the boy had been crying. Must...must be...depressed...I can relate to that... he thought, frowning slightly toward the kid.

"Hey...what's wrong?" he asked with concern as he started to head over to the boy. He didn't know really how to cheer kids up or how to talk to them otherwise...but he knew that if he was sent to camp, there must have been a reason. Of course, he had no clue that he and Jake were related to one another...

-----------------------------------I really don't like to.
-----------------------------------Lying just really isn't my thing.
-----------------------------------But when it's all I can do...

[ooc] Ooh. New councilor spot ~~ [/ooc]

The handshake didn't last long, though Jake could've cared less at that point, but just simply smiled and nodded at the shorter male. "Nice to meet'cha Chie." he spoke, rolling the name off his tongue. Foreign names always sounded so awkward to him. It was odd. Shrugging mentally, and physically once Chie asked about what they were supposed to be doing, Jake looked up a the sky as he answered. "I dunno. I was waiting for Riley, one of the other councilors, to show me around and explain a few things but some things came up and it's been postponed." another shrug occurred. "Though I'm in no hurry considering I have nothing else I really need to be doing. I think the kids are still getting acquainted with the camp." speaking of campers, it was about that time that Alexis appeared again. Starring in mild confusion, both at his sudden appearance and the apparent tearstains, Jake frowned lightly as he explained that the camp wasn't really his thing and that he was going to their grandparents home.

A few more seconds of confusion went by and Chie stepped in, talking to Jake's brother as the blond tried to understand what brought this on. 'He was fine a bit ago...' he thought, walking over to his sibling also. "Alex, what makes you say that? Camp hasn't really even completely started yet. At least, I don't think it has." he spoke, rubbing the back of his head a bit in embarrassment. Jake was willing to admit that he was a bit uninformed. At that moment something seemed to occur to the blond male and he frowned. "Did anyone do anything to you?" he asked, the frown getting a bit deeper as he did so. Despite what Alexis thought, Jake did love his brother. It was just in the normal older brother way. Derek and Josh were a special case in Jake's opinion since he had never seen a older brother hold his brother like that. Jake had very strong 'older sibling' feeling with his younger brother. He loved 'im, he just didn't always want him around.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------'Sides, I'll come out eventually.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------I'll just do it on my own time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------And preferably they won't mind.
