► RULE TWO ↷ REQUIREMENTS


█ ↷ everyone interested in joining must be capable of posting at least four chunky paragraphs. a paragraph is the equivalent of ten complex sentences (or eight lines on a wide screen computer) worth of material. intro posts should be between six to ten paragraphs, while it is preferred that average posts are between four to seven. you can post more than the average, but it is doubtful that anyone would bother reading a fifty paragraph post.
█ ↷ ic posts should be visually attractive. images should be high quality, and the character's name and district should be included somewhere in the layout. do not include an over abundance of icons or sparkly text or else i can and will remove you from the roleplay.
█ ↷ grammar and spelling within the contents of your posts should be acceptable. utilize grammar and spell check tools available such as microsoft word or firefox. do not use text speak or any weird computer language within the contents of your post, it looks tacky and is difficult to understand.
█ ↷ it is highly recommended that you have read the hunger games books to join. it's not one hundred percent required, as you can easily find details online regarding the series and i am more than willing to answer questions - but if your lack of knowledge will negatively affect your posts then we have an issue.


► RULE THREE ↷ RESTRICTIONS


█ ↷ if any scenes above the rating of pg-17 should occur then fading to black and time skipping is necessary. in short? no descriptive sex scenes.
█ ↷ this roleplay will contain violence, obviously, but do not be overly descriptive. don't describe every drop of blood that occurs as a result of someone dying - use vague details that allude to what happened, much like collins did.
█ ↷ do not curse in excess, especially if using profanity does not fit your character description. why would the shy girl run around run around screaming profanity? be realistic.


► RULE FOUR ↷ CHARACTERS


█ ↷ please do not make overly perfect or overly depressed characters. even if you're playing one of the careers they should not be good at everything.
█ ↷ it is strongly encouraged that you double, because being perfectly blunt - a lot of characters will die in this roleplay, and you'll have another character to fall back on should that happen. after your character dies, however, you're welcome to take on the task of playing a supporting character such as a mentor, stylist, parent, sibling etc.
█ ↷ i am placing no restriction on the number of characters you can take. however, if your first character is a female then your second character needs to be male. after that i don't care what gender your third and fourth characters are.
█ ↷ try to make your characters different from others. give them all unique qualities to make them seem like real people.
█ ↷ all sexualities and skin colors will be accepted in this roleplay, however i don't want every character in this roleplay to be asian - and i don't want every character in this roleplay to be white either. add some diversity. same goes for the amount of heterosexuals v homosexuals. i also want age diversity. i don't want everyone to be between ages 16 - 18 just because it's easier to find models.
█ ↷ please make sure your model looks their age. if you say they're sixteen then they shouldn't look like they're fifty. also, the hunger games novels provides some guidelines as to what people look like - such as comments about facial hair. in the novels collins mentions that all those in the capital didn't have facial hair, and the same applied to females and body hair. obviously once your character goes through the makeover process at the capital the same will apply to them, so please avoid using models that are so hairy they look like sasquatch.i also understand that we all have different ideas about what the word attractive means, but please try and use a model that is attractive.
█ ↷ i will allow models and internet celebrities as character models, but under no circumstances will i accept mainstream celebrities (ie: actors, musicians, etc)
█ ↷ once your character is accepted it's strongly encouraged that you plot with other characters to come up with ideas for interaction in this roleplay. i want interaction. i want characters to have friends, allies, enemies, and there can even be a few romantic interests here. please make note, though, that again - a lot of characters will die and love and romance isn't the center of the hunger games (even though it sort of was in the books). do not whine and complain if your character has a crush on another character and the feeling is not mutual.


► RULE FIVE ↷ RESERVES


█ ↷ this roleplay is first come first serve, therefore, if someone applies before you and is accepted before you, the character is theirs and it would be a waste of time to try and steal it from them.
█ ↷ the reserve skeleton can be found on the first page of the ooc. please fill out the reserve skeleton completely before submitting it. any blank fields will make it difficult for me to accept you in the roleplay.
█ ↷ the reserve skeleton should be submitted in the ooc thread, i do not want to receive any private messages regarding this roleplay.
█ ↷ i will quote you and either accept your or deny you. if you never hear back from me after you posted your reserve then chances are i never saw it and it would be a good idea to repost it should this happen.

► RULE SIX ↷ PROFILES


█ ↷ i am not requiring a lengthy profile for this roleplay because they take too long and a lot of people never submit them. instead the profile will be the short character information section that will appear on the front page of the ic.
█ ↷ after your reserve has been accepted you will have exactly twenty - four hours to complete your character information section. unless you have a really good excuse and alerted me beforehand, any reserve skeletons submitted late will result in your losing your role.
█ ↷ please fill the character information section out as completely as possible. make sure your character fits the district they're supposed to be from. if they're from district twelve, obviously they won't be an expert at sword fighting, but this would seem more realistic if they were from district one.

█ ↷ everyone that joins this roleplay will be required to create NPC'S for their characters district. each character needs to create one mentor and one stylist for their district. each district also needs an escort / publicist type role (such as effie), but the details of this role can be decided by both people representing a district.

█ ↷ try and use celebrities as models for the npc's, just to make things easier & make it less likely that someone will try and use an npc model for their tribute character.

█ ↷ thanks to the efforts of the mockingjay, the rebellion was won. the rebels triumphed over the evil totalitarian government that had control of panem for nearly a century and the dreaded hunger games finally became a thing of the past. now that the people had control of the government, they were determined to make changes to avoid the possibility of returning to the old ways.

█ ↷ several years passed and the rebels attempts at forming a republic largely failed. those familiar with the process of government were those that had served under snow, and too many were afraid that electing those officials to high ranking positions would result in the return of the old ways. with the lack of a stable government also came lack of a stable economy, and even more people than before had to endure the threat of starvation. twenty five years after the end of the rebellion it was finally decided that it was not safe for the people to live such an unstable life style and at last, a new president was elected - an official that had worked closely with president snow so he was quite familiar with the process of the panem government. despite being so close to the former president, this man claimed that he had no interest in the old ways - spinning stories about how he would change panem for the better.

█ ↷ twenty-five more years passed, during which time this new president did as he promised and began trying to make changes to panem. he succeeded in making many of the poorer districts significantly more profitable, and for once it seemed as if everyone was happy. but people were bored. there weren't many opportunities for entertainment, and the larger portion of life consisted of going to work or school and that was all she wrote. it had been fifty years since the rebellion, and many of those that fought to save panem were dead. those that were still living were too senile to remember much of the rebellion. when the president suggested restarting the hunger games, the people jumped at the opportunity. it was a chance for some entertainment, something to look forward to every year. the adults in panem had grown up watching the hunger games, up until the rebels had put an end to it, - as far as entertainment goes, the hunger games was all they knew.

█ ↷ a year after the suggestion was made, the seventy-sixth annual hunger games was held the twelve districts of panem once more submitted two children between the ages of twelve and eighteen to fight to the death in the arena. the government made a change to the rules, however, stating that for every two children submitted by the districts, the capitol would have to submit one of it's own children to join in on the blood bath. this was to avoid the possibility of another rebellion against the hunger games because of claims that it was 'unfair.'

█ ↷ many years have passed since the hunger games restarted, and it is now the year of the ninety-eighth annual hunger games. like years past, thirty young children will meet in the arena. the entire nation of panem is looking forward to seeing the outcome of the games this season. happy hunger games, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

█ ↷ in the past it has been a common thing for the capitol to send tributes to battle to the death in a variation of foresty landscapes, from the lush greenery of a coniferous forest to the suffocating humidity of a tropical rainforest. this year the tributes will truly be tested on their survival skills, because they are being sent to compete in an arctic tundra.

█ ↷ now, not only do tributes have to worry about defending themselves against other tributes and finding food and water - but they also have to worry about not freezing to death. the arena commonly experiences temperatures well below zero and everything in sight is covered in layers of ice and snow. a large portion of the arena is a hilly tundra covered in mounds of ice, this is where the cornucopia is situated. there are rocky beaches surrounding the arena that allow fishing in the ocean, which could prove useful to those from district four - making available a variety of sea animals from arctic fish, various species of seal and whale. there are also several mountainous regions and the occasional clumps of forest that could make for decent hiding spots. thankfully for the tributes there is minimal chance of going thirsty, as all they have to do to get a drink around here is melt down some snow. starting a fire might be a problem though. there are also many sources of food from arctic hares, foxes, and a collection of strange birds. there have even been some polar bear and caribou sighted. one would have to be an avid hunter to catch any of these animals though.

█ ↷ It's a sunny day in the Capitol without a single rain cloud in the sky ~ the temperature is moderate, not too hot but by no means cold either. It appears as if Capitol weather may be temperature controlled or something.


► TODAY`S ↷ EVENTS


█ ↷ Tributes from Districts 1 through 12 are still on their respected trains on the way to the Captiol. Tributes from The Capitol are currently home trying to pack all their belongings so they can head to the training center - as if they'll need all their worldly possessions in the arena.
The roleplay should start with the characters in these places. You should proceed with having all the tributes being ushered to the Training Center where they will all be left in a meeting room to socialize with one another, while waiting to be escorted to their respected stylists.

Later this evening they will meet their stylists for the first time and their stylists will get them ready for the parade. Tonight each of the tributes will be paraded through the Captiol, the first appearance of many. This is an attempt to get sponsors, so try and make the camera love you~

█ ↷ considering this is a hunger games roleplay, it is obvious that people will be dying. it wouldn't be staying true to the hunger games if everyone was still alive at the end. after much debate on the matter, i have finally decided on a method of randomizing who dies and when, but i've provided a way to tip the odds in your favor. did you like my pun?

█ ↷ here is how i will be deciding who dies: every character will have their name written on strips of paper and they will be folded and dropped into a bag. i will have my little brother draw said strips of paper in complete randomization and whoever's name is on said strip of paper will be one of the characters that meets an untimely end.

█ ↷ when it comes to deciding who killed your character / how they died - that's up to you. get creative. and i'm sure someone would be happy to volunteer to kill your character... as sad as that sounds.

█ ↷ so those of you that are already in love with your characters are probably asking how you tip the odds in your favor, well, it's a little bit like this.
as of now, each characters name is on exactly twenty strips of paper - this means their name is going into the 'hat of fate' exactly twenty times. you can get strips of paper removed, however, to lower the odds of your character being selected. here is how.
OO1 - for every day you are extremely active in the ooc, one strip of paper will be removed
OO2 - for every post you make in the ic for that character that abides by all the rules (such as post length etc) exactly three strips of paper with your character's name will be removed
OO3 - for every person you invite (that will admit to being directed here by you), two strips of paper with your character's name will be removed

█ ↷ in the instance your character dies, i still encourage you to participate in the roleplay. you can easily take on the role of a side character such as a mentor, stylist, or a family member back home / in the capitol. the choice is up to you.
