                                                  ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Kit let her head fall back and closed her eyes. She was bored, and that was never a good thing. There was just not enough excitement going on and after dealing with all the laundry she was feel like she’d been given a lobotomy. That thought made her smile a little. Around here she wouldn’t be surprised if they tried. Or had already to other patients. It wasn’t something widely practiced anymore but there was just something about this place that screamed under the radar to her. It always had. The number of monsters here was overwhelming and she did not think it was a coincidence like Niklaus always told her. There was something off about this place, the darkness she felt here was more intense than anywhere she had been. That was the only thing she really liked about being here. The darkness was something loved and it made her feel alive. Not many things could provide that high for her.

As her mind wandered off in thought about all the creepy terrible things doctors had done to patients in psych wards a trilling voice interrupted her thoughts. She sighed lightly and opened her eyes, tilting her head a bit to look at the source of the interruption; Kaira. “Nope,” she answered simply with a bored look on her face. Kaira was a weird girl and many people were afraid of her. Kit wasn’t bothered in the least by her negative reputation, there wasn’t anything scary about her in Kit’s opinion. There wasn’t a blackness around her like with some of the others and that made Kaira completely uninteresting to Kit. Spending the evening with her did not sound exciting in the least.

She let her head return to its former position and closed her eyes again. More footsteps entered the dining room but Kit paid no mind to them as none of them came near enough to get her attention. She was thinking rather hard about passing up on dinner and just going to sleep, or maybe requesting an emergency meeting with Doctor Godfrey. She needed something interesting. That was when another voice caught her attention. A voice she very much liked hearing. She opened her eyes and looked up to see Niklaus standing over her between her and Kaira. The way words just rolled out of his mouth made her tingle and she smiled up at him. “Good evening Niklaus,” she purred up at him, but his attention was not on her.

At his next words that flirtatious smile shifted to a raised brow and an almost frown. He wanted a private meeting…with Kaira. Kit sighed lightly and looked past them as she wasn’t part of the conversation. At the other end of the table sat her other favorite person around these parts. She was certainly shocked to see Roman out of his room. He most often didn’t come to dinner with the rest of them. Her smile picked back up. Maybe he would have something interesting to do. She had developed an unlikely sort of friendship with the boy and he had that darkness about him Kit fed on. Without another word to Kaira or Niklaus she got up from her seat and walked over to Roman. The look on his face mirrored the way she felt at the moment. She sat down next to him and put her feet up on the unoccupied chair across from her under the table, looking at Roman. There wasn’t anyone else sitting at this end of the table, let alone this close to the blonde boy she now sat next to. It didn’t surprise her any.

When Roman did come to group things people tended to avoid him. He was violent and very volatile. He was the only other person she knew here that had probably been sedated more often than she had. Kit liked that about the boy. He was unpredictable which made him interesting. “You look about as excited to be here as I feel. Nurse Caroline finally dragged you out of your hole?” She said the nurse’s name in mocking girly tone. Kit wasn’t much fond of the preppy little blonde. She was always sucking up to Niklaus in a way that made Kit want to cut out her pretty little eye balls. And Caroline was far too perky for her liking, always smiling at people and talking it that grating high pitched voice. Like a little ball of bullshit sunshine. Kit wondered sometimes if she was high as a kite. Anyone that happy to work in this hell hole had to be. That or they were masochists. Either way, there was something seriously annoying about that girl. Overly bubbly people actually made Kit almost physically sick.

                                                                          ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Repetition, they told her parents, would be good for her condition. A routine would keep her focussed, help her gain control again. Instead, the monotony caused Penelope to make more and more appearances, sent her kicking and screaming into a frenzy at the boredom of it all. Faolin's "alter ego", as many called it, despised being bored. Faolin, on the other hand, somewhat enjoyed routine. Get up, eat, go to class, do chores, eat, sleep. Rinse and repeat.

Swish swish. The movement of the mop was matching by the swaying of her curly ponytail. Whatever cocktail of meds they had her on at the moment was working, and Penelope was making fewer and fewer appearances. Even her insomnia was improving, and Faolin was getting more sleep. She still often woke up in the night, screaming that it burned, and was then unable to get back to sleep. But it was getting better, and she was passing out during the day a lot less. There were still bags under her eyes, but she was getting there. The doctors had no idea how long this cocktail would work for - Faolin's DID was like nothing they had ever seen before. A sweet, mute girl turned into what they could only describe as a monster - cunning, devious, and cruel, Penelope scared some of them a little. Faolin herself was about as threatening as a kitten - although tall, she was slender and fragile, unable to cause any real damage. Penelope, on the other hand, liked to try and convince people to do dangerous things, and in a home for those with mental disorders, this could prove fatal.

Luckily, Penelope had been absent for the last couple of days. Usually she went away for a week or two then came back with a vengeance, and they had to try a whole new set of medication to stop her appearing. What they didn't know is that Penelope, who was actually named Aithne, was the changeling that inhabited the life that Faolin would have had. She went away sometimes to amuse herself, let the doctors thing they had won, and then she reappeared and watched them scramble around as they tried to work out what was wrong with her. It amused her to see them scratch their heads on confusion and restrain her to try and stop her doing... Well, whatever it was that they thought she would do. Kill someone, maybe. Aithne had yet to work out what it was they were scared of her for. All she wanted was to have a little fun, and they always ruined it. Spoil sports. It didn't really help that Faolin didn't talk, and Aithne did, but some things couldn't be helped.

Faolin finished mopping the room and stood back to admire her work. Spotless, as always. She rung the mop out as the call for dinner was made. Wednesday dinners were always the best, and Faolin put the bucket and mop away and hurried to the dining room. In a stage of near permanent hunger, meal times were Faolin's favourite times of the day. No one really understood how she ate so much and stayed so slim, but it was put down to an impressively fast metabolism.

No one paid much attention when Faolin entered the room. No one really paid Faolin much heed since she was so quiet. She piled a plate with as much food as she could fit on it and sat down in a corner as far from everyone else as she could get. Faolin largely didn't mind the company of other people, although she would always choose books over them, something she inherited from her mother, in general people didn't enjoy talking to brick walls and so they left Faolin mostly to her own devices. This suited her just as well, since Faolin never felt that she had very much meaningful to contribute to a conversation and so rarely used the small notepad she always kept on her person should such an occasion arise. For now, however, she just ate her dinner and thought about the book she was going to start reading during their free time.

tab Eight years. Eight years he had spent in this place, this Elmwood. It had been a fairly boring eight years, sure there had been some excitement here and there but not much. Most notably was when a few of the other patients had a psychotic break, saying they were all kinds of magical creatures. The doctors said they had been moved to a different facility to ensure stability for those remaining. Eli had seen people come and go from Elmwood but none he cared all to much to make friends with. Making friends usually coupled with sharing experiences and the less people that knew about the severity of his anxiety the better. He didn't like talking to the doctors, they thought they knew everything. There was no way they could possibly know his feelings or experiences. For eight years he either told them only the bare minimum or nothing at all during his therapy sessions. He liked the meds though, at least at first. Over the years they seemed to work less and less. Eli knew he should tell someone about it but he never did despite the countless opportunities.

tab Today he had the glorious opportunity to clean up the bathroom. Eli had never been a fan of chores, even back at the church. He actually had no trouble cleaning up after himself but cleaning up for other people, definitely not his thing. For one he often got distracted or zoned out making the cleaning process take much longer. Today his chore time extended even longer since his anxiety had taken the best of him. Eli couldn't explain why it happened, what might have triggered it. The doctors usually told him to think about what happened in the time immediately before it would occur but that rarely helped. His body ached from it. Experiencing anxiety for him was like going through hell and back. Luckily no one noticed him, often times he felt they were shorter when he was alone. Maybe it was all in his head.

tab He was able to finish his chores eventually but it was coming dangerously close to six o'clock. When you eat at the exact same time for so long, your stomach knew when it's time to eat. Not that he ever ate all that much but what he did eat sufficed to stave off the hunger until the next meal time. Eli gathered himself as best he could, he was still shaking from the attack, then cleaned up what he had been using to complete his chores. All the cleaning stuff had a place to go so putting stuff away was a quick and easy task. 'Come on Eli, you can do it. Just relax, this one is over.' He thought to himself as he proceeded towards the dinning area. There were already a bunch of people there as he entered. Kaira, Kit, Roman, Faolin, and a couple of the doctors. "Hey." Eli said a short greeting after he shoved his hands in his pockets to hide the fact they were still unsteady and walked to one of the open seats. He positioned himself as far away from the doctors as he could get. No reason to be close enough to strike up a conversation with them. "Dinner smells good. Who made it?" He said trying to be polite however he felt like he didn't have the energy for conversation right now. Maybe sitting back and simply listening would be a better option right now.

Some of us are just more messed up then others

When Kit straight out told her no, Kaira was kind of surprised. She supposed she shouldn't be, people generally didn't want to spend time with her. Still, she liked to hope that one day things might change. She sighed and started to prod at her food. Now she had to find something to do on her own. That was when she heard footsteps. She looked up to see Dr. Godfrey and she bit back a groan as he stopped near her. When he spoke up and asked to talk to her, she froze. Her eyes darted around the table, she watched as Kit moved to sit with Roman instead. Seriously, she knew Kit didn't really like her but why did she have to leave her alone with him.
"What is it you want to talk about then?"
she asked. She realized seconds later that her demanding to know why might seem rude. She might be slightly freaked out by the man but she was supposed to respect her elders. Especially as she didn't know why he worried her. It was the same as all of her feelings only this time she just knew something was wrong about him.
"It's just, if I'm not in trouble, I'd like to know why a meeting is necessary," she explained, dropping her eyes to the table.

She looked up again as other people walked in. First Faolin and then Elias. She debated speaking to Faolin to see if she wanted to hang out but the mute girl was usually alone. Kaira didn't know if she enjoyed being alone or if that was just how the pieces fell. Still, maybe if she spoke to Faolin it could save her from Dr. Godfrey.
"Everything okay Faolin?" she asked the girl, hoping she would at least nod in response. She noticed how much she was eating and smiled slightly. It was nice to see that some people around here didn't care about keeping slim or whatever. Though Faolin was pretty skinny anyway. Lucky b***h. As Elias said hello to everyone, she smiled at him. And at least his question was one she could answer.
"It was me and some of the staff tonight. Well...I peeled potatoes," she answered. She picked up another forkful of potatoes and put them in her mouth. "But they're pretty good if I do say so myself."

Whether Kaira would get much of a response, she didn't know. Some people would speak to her, sure, but she wasn't sure if they actually liked her. But if she was going to go back to pretending to be normal then it would be good if she could have friendly conversation with some people. And at the moment she was willing to try being friendly with anyone. Especially if it meant that Dr. Godfrey would move on. She could have sworn she heard the front door open for one thing. She couldn't help but wonder who it was but patients weren't allowed to open the front door.

OOC: Urk so short but she speaks to most people so yay.

After several tense moments Jackson began to fidget, Olivia knew it was because he was on a tight schedule. Even if he left now he’d be late, his pay for the day cut, pay he desperately needed for his family. She also knew he could not just leave because if he did, she may run away and then he would probably be fired for not seeing her to her proper destination. As much as she hated the indoors, and was relishing the fresh air, she loved the people who actually cared for her did not want to see them suffer. Grasping the door knob she bowed her head, mustering up all her strength to step through the archway “I will see myself in Jackson, you may go now.”

Without another word she shuffled inside, not thinking of bringing her bags in with her and leaving them on the steps. In her upbringing she was never taught to do those things for herself, even in all of her schools someone always followed behind and got your belongings and put them away for you. In all actuality Olivia never had to do much of anything for herself.
Once inside she took a deep breath, the air was heavy to her, filled with chemicals and scents of food. It took several seconds for her eyes to adjust to the lighting, when they did she scanned the room from beneath her semi-lowered lids. She saw no one roaming around, and from where she was she could not hear anyone either. It was a small comfort; most places she went were huge massive schools with hundreds of girls and boys filling the halls, with their bodies and their loud voices.

A soft sound drew her out of her memories, the tell-tale sound of shoes walking across a floor, and they were coming nearer to her. The sound stopped right next to her, Olivia kept her gaze down at the white sneakers next to her own polished black dress shoes. The stranger cleared their voice, and spoke, it was a female “Hello, I am assuming because you’re out here and not in the dining hall that you must be the new charge we’re expecting. Olivia Baringstone is it?” Olivia nodded, just barely. This woman’s perfume was assaulting her senses; it was similar to flowers if the flowers were huge mutant creatures who roamed the night. It was too thick and syrupy to be a real floral scent.

“Come on then girl, we’ll take you down to dining and get you some grub huh? You’re probably just starving. Now, as a general rule if you’re late you don’t eat but seeing as you just got here you couldn’t have helped it. Mrs. Night Flower was walking away now as she talked, assuming Olivia would trail behind, which she did. The woman was jabbering on about rules, and dorms, times things were done, but Olivia just drowned her out and followed her silently, obedience her go to nature in uncertain situations.

Finally they came upon what Olivia could only guess was the dining area since everyone inside was eating or talking. Her stomach lurched at the thought of food, she was too nervous and scared to eat. Blindly she followed the Mrs.Night flower who directed her to an empty seat at the table. Olivia mumbled a thank you as the woman wondered away to do her other duties. Slowly the sounds and smells piqued her curiosity and she looked up, her eyes fell on the people around, noticed the food infront of her. She didn't want them to think she was weird just sitting there so she silently got herself a little bit of food; A roll and some salad. Her fingers worked the bread, breaking it into tiny bite pieces on her plate, which she ate bit by bit, hopeing the time for her to go to her room and hide would come soon.
