Ashley's mom stood up, said she was going to call and see if Dylan's family was alright. Ashley nodded, watching her leave. She laid down on the couch, trying to process this. Poor Dylan... Her mom came back, phone at her ear. "Hi. If you guys need anything, don't hesitate to call. We are here for you." She was talking to Dylan's dad. "I wanted to make sure you were doing alright. Well, as alright as you can be..." Ashley watched her mom, sighing. She wondered how Dylan was taking it. He was probably trying to be strong, but really wanted to cry.

Dylan effortlessly wandered upstairs to his room. He looked at the photo of him and his mom when he was 4, tears plopping onto his t-shirt. Unable to bear the atmosphere anymore he went out the front door, he had no idea where he was going but he didnt care anymore.

Ashley, living next door to Dylan watched him walk out of his house. She wondered where he was going, and was worried. She grabbed her jacket, pulling it on. "Mom! I'll be back soon!" Her mom asked where she was going, but she was already out the door. "Dylan!" She ran to catch up to him. "I'm so sorry, Dylan." She said, seeing the tears in his eyes.

Dylan looked at her but couldnt say anything, he just stared at her supprised that she had came after him. His eyes showed sadness and he had tears rolling down his cheeks. Anyother time he would be ashamed to cry but right now he didnt care about what Ashley thought.

Ashley stared at him for a few moments, then she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. She knew that was what he needed. She held him tightly, and then looked up at him.

Dylan hugged her back, automaticly putting his arms around her waist. He sobbed quietly like a child who had just lost his favourite toy car. It felt like the end of the world.

Ashley just let him cry. When he had finally calmed down enough she said,"Come on, let's go." She took his hand, and led him to her house. Her mom was in the kitchen, so she snuck him up to her room. If he mom had seen him, she would have showered him with comfort. She opened her door quietly and brought him in, sitting on her bed.

Dylan just did what Ashley told him to do, if she told him to jump off a cliff he would have. "She...She's gone..." he stammered unable to take it in.

Ashley nodded silently. She bit her lip, hugging him again. "I'm so sorry, Dylan." She stroked his dark hair, comforting him.

"Dont be, its no one's fault, just the idiot who crashed into the back of her..." Dylan replied his voice trailing off at the end. His mum was the best mum ever, he had loved her so much, but ontop of all this he realised that he felt the chemistry between him and Ashley. He took a deep breath and swallowed hard, trying not to cry again.

Ashley forced out a smile, for his sake. "Well, maybe you should go call Nicole... She's your girlfriend, she should be the one to comfort you." She said awkwardly. She was remembering what had happened today in school, trying to stay calm and not cry.

He looked at her, "You really think Nichole would care?" he said coldly. He didnt mean for it to sound that cold but his heart and voice had a mind of its own.

Ashley was slightly surprised. "Um, she should. Why would you have a girlfriend who doesn't care?" She asked. She didn't know much about relationships, but shouldn't you care about your boyfriend/girlfriend?
Dylan

"All she cares about is the fact that she's popular and has someone to make her feel loved and someone to gossip about at sleepovers." Dylan said honestly, he had already given up trying to be romantic with her because he knew she thought it was dorky and ignored him.

Ashley scowled. "Then why are you dating her?!" She sounded awful, even worse than Ashley thought. "Why are you putting yourself through that?"
