!!Announcement!!
Since there was no set destination for this little 'cook out' thingy I figured since everyone is kind of gathering at this park. . .that it might as well be set there to make things easier for everyone else.

Demetri had watched Scarlett text someone back. He knew who it was. He wondered what they were talking about. Briefly, he thought about asking what they were talking about, but he thought better. Demetri swung himself a little in the swing, but he was barely going anywhere. The last time he had been on a swing was when he was around eight years old. Hadn't been on one since. He thought they were rather childish, but there wasn't much else to do around in this sleepy little town. How could the people who lived here stand it? How could their parents have stood living there for so long? Demetri thought it was probably pure torture. He had noticed Scarlett had noticed him yet, which is why he had asked her if she was having fun. He wanted her attention. Demetri loved attention. He fed off of it. It was like eating pure sugar to him. Kind of gave him a sugar high or something like that. He sighed, wiping some sweat off of his forehead. He held onto the chains that held the swing up, watching Scarlett with a smile. He'd had a crush on her for some time now, but she didn't seem to notice. She was too intent on getting Tony's attention. That made Demetri frown again. He wanted Scarlett's attention. He wanted to tell her that he had a crush on her, but he never had because he figured he would get turned down. Demetri definitely didn't want rejection. He was pure afraid of it. Demetri cleared his throat. It felt like there was something stuck there. It helped a little as he cleared his throat.
Demetri was happy to see that Scarlett had heard him. He smiled real big at her when she stood up and kissed him on both cheeks. He leaned forward and kissed her cheek, his lips staying there for a second longer. He leaned back again and smiled, listening to her humorous response to his question. Demetri laughed when she was done ranting about how she wasn't having fun. He thought it was funny, but he knew what she was going through. Demetri scoffed when she asked if he was having fun. "Yeah. Right. Like I'm having fun. This place is a hell hole. I hate it here." He told her as he watched her sit down on the swing. He saw the look on her face as she said something then leaned her head on his shoulder. Demetri patted her and put his arms around her, holding her to his chest. "I don't want to go either, but it looks like we're all being forced to go." He paused for a moment, thinking about the other kids that might would be there. "Just think of what these hick kids are gonna be like. I wonder if they have accents like our grandparents do..." Demetri paused for a moment and then answered his own question. "Probably." He said as he made a face. Demetri rolled his eyes and then leaned Scarlett away from him. He smiled, his sensitive side showing. That was a rare thing.
A small smile graced Demetri's face as he looked Scarlett in the eye. "Hey, at least all of us will be there together. Maybe we can show these southern kids just exactly how to have a good time." He told her as his smile grew a little bit more. Maybe there was something they could do to make this thing a lot more fun than they were expecting. After all, Demetri wasn't called the Party Boy for nothing. Demetri then winked at Scarlett, hoping to make her smile. Of course, he didn't blame her for frowning. That's what he had been doing the whole time he had been there. But the crappy thing was, they had only been there just a few days. Demetri let go of Scarlett, but then pulled his swing to the side and let it hit Scarlett gently. He ;aughed, but he didn't know why he laughed. Little kids were walking past them, staring at them. They were probably wondering why these crazy teenagers were on the swings. That wasn't usually something you saw every day. For a moment, Demetri wondered if Scarlett had kicked a little kid off the swing to get it for herself. He wouldn't put that past her. Demetri laughed to himself. He knew Scarlett pretty well. Sometimes he could read her like a book. But then again, there were days where he couldn't read her at all. Demetri sighed and raised up out of the swing. He looked towards Scarlett and frowned. "Maybe we should get to this stupid thing and get it over with." He told her as he held out his hand to help her out of the swing. Demetri was still trying to thin of a way to spice this shindig up. There had to be a way. Music would help, but he had no clue as to where he would get music to play out there. It seemed that nobody around this hick town had iPods or stereos. Demetri rolled his eyes and waited for Scarlett to take his hand and get out of the swing.

~Andrew Mason
"You know how they say chivalry is dead?"
Andrew wasn't fond of these cookouts, but his mother insisted he go, always, just for the sae of going out, and socializing. But there was a horrible turn to this one. He knew that Rachel's mom would probably say the exact same thing, and he knew for a fact that she would be there too. He still liked her, and he'd never even gotten to tell her he loved her. That was the saddest part to him; she never got to know how he felt about her. It wasn't just that she didn't want to see him, talk to him or even be within a mile of him; it was knowing all that and knowning that he still liked her on top of that. Though he hadn't had to deal with it much with little Jess around. he swore up and down that she had a system going with the others to keep them away from each other. And whatever that shortcake had thought up, well, hell if it wasn't working.
So, instead of begging not to go, as it was futile, he got ready in his usual attire; a t shirt and jean shorts to go with it. It was fricken hot; even he, as a native knew that. He looked at himself in the mirror, and satisfied with his reflection, grabbed his phone and his house keys, which, incoincidentally, were also his car keys, though he wasn't driving to a cookout that was right down the street - no point behind it. He was kind of hoping to get there before Jess because, well, she had done something, and he wanted to at least see Rachel, and see if she was okay. He missed her, and well, Jess was doing a really good job at keeping them seperated, whatever she was doing. What he didn't know is how she was managing this. If she wasn't telling him, then she wasn't telling Ray, and she and Alex were a bit rocky, as were she and her boyfriend, also known as his brother. Which would mean it was a two person system, between her and Louis, which would be an awful load for two people to pull off, considering how small the town was. But he hadn't really seen her since the breakup.
Suddenly his phone buzzed in his pocket, alerting him to a text. He was used to it, and didn't jump to it, unlike Jess did every time she got an unexpected - and even sometimes expected - text message. It was actually quite funny to see her squirm. But he honestly felt for his small friend; half the time she screamed when it happened, which raised a lot of alarm, considering she was so quiet, and well, no one had ever really taught her how to take off the vibrate. He read Alex's text, and typed a quick message back. "Hey! Bro! We got to get the cookout!" he yelled up the stairs to his brother, walking out the door, and waiting for his brother there, before taking out his phone and sending a message to Louis.
He shut his phone and sighed, turning his face to the sun, and letting the planes of his cheeks bathe is the warmth of the sunlight that was slowly starting to recede over the treeline in the west. Now alls he had to do was wait for his brother, knowing, from when he'd checked the time on his phone, that Jess would already be there, and that he'd missed his window of opportunity to see Rachel by a longshot. He couldn't even pine from afar if he couldn't see the girl. Jess was good at this. He just wondered how the hell she had gotten good. It wasn't like she had practice.

|| OOC, sounds good! P.S. sorry if my post is short/a little off. It's late here and I work tomorrow || ||
Scarlett raised a brow and smirked when she noticed Demetri checking who she was texting. With a playful smile, she quickly swiped her phone away, placing it in her pocket. “Ah, ah, ah” she said, pointing her index finger at him and wiggling it. “You can’t just read my texts, Mr” with a wink and a laugh, she finally got off the wooden swing as it was hurting her, and she thought she had a splinter up her butt. Classy. Smoothing out her black Chanel dress, she tried to check casually for any splinters at all, any sign of awkward embarrassment, and luckily, noticed absolutely nothing. With a brief smile, it turned to a frown when she noticed another few people at the Park. She snickered, raising a brow. What in God’s name were they wearing? Wow, they definitely were hicks. With a little laugh, Scarlett looked at Demetri and smirked. “Wow, aren’t y’all excited for some good country fun?” she said, putting on her best Southern Accent. She could kind of do it, considering her Father had been from here, but it was embarrassing. Just the thought that her Father had lived out here and thought wooden swings were fun really threw her off.
Looking around, Scarlett noticed a few things, and a bunch of people setting up at the park. There were banners, balloons and she could smell all different kinds of greasy, fried foods. Only it smelt worse than the streets of New York. The entire park was now infested with the smell of grease. Scarlett tried her hardest not to gag as she looked at Demetri. “Wow, you don’t want to be in this Hellhole..” she laughed a little bit, and ironically, the smell of charcoal or burning started wafting through the air. Scarlett wondered what was going on, maybe this was the spot for the BBQ, but she wasn’t going to go over there and ask a bunch of Crazy Hillbillies what was going on. A) Scarlett figured she had a bigger I.Q than them and could figure it out herself, and B) she just wasn’t interested. Looking at Demetri, she pursed her lips and formed a small smile. “Yep, forced” she said, through gritted teeth. She noticed her Grandmother amongst all of the people and shuddered a little. She didn’t want her Grandmother to see her, in fact, she hoped she would stay away. There was no way in Hell she wanted to be set up. Earlier, she remembered the exact words her Grandmother had told her. “Now, honey, I’m a Matchmaker. I promise I will find you the perfect Southern Boy” It made Scarlett want to be sick. Southern Boy? No way, she wanted a Yankee Boy! More specifically, Tony Myers. Giggling and twirling her hair at the thought of him, she looked back at Demetri and slipped her arm through his. Sighing, she looked over, seeing a bunch of people, still gathered around. She heard a bunch of Country Music and made a face, shuddering. “Oh dear lord” she said, gripping Demetri’s arm. Was this really how it was going to be out here? Country Music and BBQ’s? Wow, these people really needed to come to a New York Fashion Week.
Looking over at everyone, she noticed a few people who looked to be around her age, but Scarlett did not want to go over and mingle. In fact, that was the last thing she wanted to do. She was forced to be here, but in no way was she going to put on a fake act and be nice to people. Looking at Demetri, she bit her lip again. “You think we can show them how to have a good time? Explain. We’re not in New York and I don’t see anything good about this” Scarlett was blunt, to the point and often snappy with her friends. After she’d said a lot of what she did she would regret it, but she was never one to apologize. She gave Demetri a look however that softened her face, so he could know she wasn’t going psycho over this. She looked forward, into the clearing, not too far from the park, in fact, she was pretty sure that was the actual park part. Looking ahead, she stared at it, wanting to go through to the party, but finding it ever so hard to move her feet. “We should get this stupid thing over with” she said, mirroring Demetri’s exact words and heading over to the area, where she knew the “fun” was about to start. Yee haw.

The truck shook annoyingly on the stupid dirt road. . .it wasn't the first dirt road Tony had ever seen but it was one of the first he ever drove on, but hey. . .it was better than attempting to drive on the snow, something these small town people didn't have the slightest idea how to do, after all it didn't snow in South Carolina, not that Tony knew of anyway. There was a brief silence between the two of them as some country music played, Tony wasn't much of a country fan but his grandparents were. . .and besides he didn't exactly know the radio stations around this place, but hopefully this wasn't the only one the town had to offer, however Tony had a sneaking suspicion that this honkey tonk radio station was the only form of musical insight these folks had around here. Tony was thankful when Carmen started talking to him about how she would get him away from the pestering people known to him as Mimi and Pawpaw but of course there was a catch. . .he couldn't offer a ride to Scarlett and the a** hole. Too late, Tony thought but wouldn't tell Carmen he had already inquired about Scarlett's transportation needs. With a smirk he looked over at Carmen as the truck jarred uncomfortably thanks to a nice pot hole probably caused by the latest rain storm washing the road out "Am I really that cruel to put you through that kind of torture?" Tony teased knowing how awkward a car ride that would be "Besides, I wouldn't want to put you or myself through such an awkward car ride anyway." He chuckled "And I'm pretty sure nobody else would want that either." he said stopping at a stop sign and turning back onto a somewhat smooth and paved road.
Tony had maybe driven a mile in silence before he felt and heard his phone buzzing in his pocket, making sure he had safely driven past the county sheriff he quickly sped back up to maybe. . .20 miles over the speed limit, he really wasn't paying attention. Tony then proceeded to pull out his phone and read the text message from Scarlett while looking from the road back down at his phone while he read and then tapped out a response to Scarlett. Texting and driving had almost become a perfected art by not only Tony but probably most of his friends since being in constant contact with people, whether driving or attempting to fight the busy NYC street crowds, was 100 percent necessary. With the message successfully written and sent, he sat his phone down in his lap not wanting to take the time or deal with the frustration involved in shoving his phone back in his pocket only to dig it back out while driving at the same time. The ride was mostly quiet which was kind of weird because both Tony and Carmen talked quite a bit. . .and it was usually about almost anything no matter how weird or random but this time the only sound that could be heard was the protesting engine of the truck as the speedometer climbed to 65 and the sound of some country song that sounded faintly familiar yet Tony wouldn't have been able to put a name to the song. Thank God, he thought when Carmen spoke again about him being a life saver. Tony smiled "No, you forgot to mention my greatness." He said in a cocky sort of manner "I never do get tired of being that life saver. . .it gives me that feeling of great satisfaction." Tony said, coating that statement with sarcasm as the buildings and houses began clumping closer together and the countryside was slowly turning into the actual town of Folly Fields. . .if one could really call it that.

By someone else, Tony had meant Noah. . .Tony wasn't a complete idiot, he knew something a little more than friendship was going on there, in short he pretty much hated it, hated Noah because Carmen 'liked' him and 'hated' Carmen because it was just like that Taylor Swift song, but at this point in time Tony was too much of a softie to blow Carmen off just because he suspected something. . .besides it would blow a chance of ever getting with her anyway. . . if she thought Demitri was an a** hole for cheating on her, what does she honestly expect from Noah? Tony pondered before responding not even hinting that he was loathsom on the inside. "Besides, I had already left my 'house'" He said letting go of the steering wheel and making finger quotes around the 'house' part "Five seconds before you sent me the 'oh my god save me text.' Tony said coming to a stop at the red stop light. . .one of two the entire city had. Although there was one thing about Folly Fields that Tony did like. . .you didn't have to deal with psychotic taxi drivers, or all that bumper to bumper traffic that could really mellow your party party vibe. . .that's why walking seemed more beneficial at times even if a hobo did try to take money from your pockets or a random hooker started following you, making those sexual remarks as you passed by. . .sometimes they even touched you. . .Tony absolutely hated hobos and hookers. . .well maybe hated wasn't the right word. . .feared them was a much better description. The light turned green and Tony could already see the park that this thing was going to be at and people were already beginning to congregate. . .and there was a head of bright blond hair that stood out immediately accompanied by a cheating a** hole. "Oh damn." Tony said wishing right now that he and Carmen were somewhere else either that or someone else from New York was with them in the Chevy, or standing within a close proximity of Scarlett and Demitri "It looks like we won't be avoiding them after all." He said knowing that the major problem wasn't on his end. . .but Carmen's end was the one that had the major problem with both of them.
Surely if they were to keep driving or park now and get out Scarlett and Demitri would notice them instantly since the current street they were on drove right by the old wooden swing set. Tony wasn't a big Demitri fan of late since the whole 'closet' inscident yet he wasn't going to act like a total d-bag and ignore the guy. . .after all they still partied together and were friends. Tony was also friends with Scarlett. . .which Carmen obviously wasn't. While yes Scarlett was a bit over the top. . .all the time. . .and completely bossy, and ordered everyone around, Tony didn't have it in his nature to just tell her to go 'piss off' when she needed someone to talk to. . .in fact he found enjoyment in talking to her on a deeper level than something like 'you're going to take me to prom!' maybe it was a burden he carried but Tony didn't think much so. . .in fact most of their friends didn't really know how close of a friendship they had with one another because she was too busy bossing everyone around to stop and actually act like she did when it was just her and Tony. Tony was somewhat the same way. . .Scarlett actually had a little more insight to everything that was going on in his life than Carmen or Vanessa probably did. . .but this hadn't been the case until the whole break-ups and all. Despite the fact that Tony and Scarlett were closer friends than most would think there was still the flirting factor in there. . .but honestly what kind of girl guy friendship WASN'T without a little innocent flirting. . .Tony didn't know of one anyway. However, there were those times the flirting got a little out of hand. . .or their one on one's got pretty serious and there was that sort of TV moment right when two people were about to kiss but then thought better of it. . .well Tony and Scarlett had a few of those moments, although the first one they were at a party and Tony had a pretty good buzz going, so he didn't really count that one. . .but the other two or three. . .ya those counted, but he never exactly knew what kept him from kissing Scarlett. . .the only thing he could come up with was the fact that he still 'liked' Carmen and was making ammends with Vanessa. . .they both hated Scarlett and it was pretty obvious at times. . .so it was like being caught between a rock and a hard place. . .do you pick Scarlett. . .or two of your life long friends?

Scarlett picked at her nails as she stood, with Demitri and her Grandmother, listening to the old lady talk about cute Southern Boys, Liver Borscht, and how her dentures always seemed to bother her when she put them back on in the morning. Her Grandmother kept calling Demitri “David” for some reason, and it was making Scarlett completely and totally uncomfortable. Sighing, she looked over at the table with the white and red checked tablecloth-how quaint, and tried searching it for beer, alcohol, something. All the girl could find in the moment was Apple Cider, Water, Apple Juice and some orange liquid she didn’t even want to inquire. Rolling her eyes, she picked up a French fry and put it back down as soon as she realized it was orange. Ew, orange French fries? She had a feeling they were probably Yam or Sweet Potato fries, but Scarlett didn’t want to trust anything or anyone around here. Not yet.
Noticing Demetri and her Grandmother sort of talking, she snuck over to the table and grabbed a cup. Eyeing the Apple Juice suspiciously, Scarlett poured some of it into her cup and took a sip. A scowl crossed her face when she realized it actually tasted good. No way in hell was she expecting this, and she didn’t want it to. Finishing it up quickly, she threw it out, only to hear another loud buzz on her phone, signifying she had a text message. Looking down at it, her cheeks turned pink. The Apple Juice she had just swallowed cold had turned warm in her stomach like she’d just downed a whole bottle of Absolut Vodka to herself. A message from Tony. When she read it, she saw he was with Carmen. She frowned. Not only because he was with Carmen and not her, but because of what had happened with Demetri and Scarlett, causing Carmen pain. Scarlett knew Carmen hated her now, and she knew Vanessa felt the same, so she didn’t really want to get involved in their whole girl thing. When she had girl problems, she always went to Tony. She felt like Tony knew her the most out of all of her friends. Like Tony understood her and knew what she was going through. She knew it was awkward for him, going through all of this, but rarely did Scarlett think about anyone but the two of them. Whenever it was just her and Tony, as corny as it sounded, nothing else existed.
Opening her “Create A Message” folder, Scarlett started composing a message to Tony.
To: Tony the Tiger
From: Scar
Cute, btw. The whole “Tony the Tiger” thing. White tigers are my favourite animal. I’ll pass on Carmen. Maybe you could swing by a little later during the party and we could take a car ride just the two of us?
Sending the message, she felt her heart beat. Something about hanging out alone, just with Tony, made her nervous and excited. Their conversations were probably one of her favourite things, and she liked the fact that he was good to look at to. With a smile, and a somewhat hopeful thought that her and Tony would take a little spin later, she headed back to her Grandmother and Demetri. “So” she asked, grabbing a cherry out of a little bucket and biting it, tying the knot with her tongue. “Did I miss anything?” Yeah, like there was anything to miss.

Smiling, Carmen looked over at Tony"Okay, you're officially the best."She told him, after he said he didn't want to put her through that awkward car ride and that he himself didn't want to go through that. Although, she wasn't sure what was awkward about it for him. Except maybe that Carmen would be shooting him death glares if even the slightest bit of flirting started between him and Scarlett. She had to wonder, could Scarlett get any guys that weren't close to Carmen? Or did she need to get the guys that Carmen were close to? Was she just purposely trying to get Carmen out of the group? Because even Carmen wasn't sure if she would stay in the group if Tony and Scarlett started going out. She couldn't watch her closest guy friend go out with that . . . That two faced backstabbing lying b*tch! Of course, she was too shy to ever call Scarlett that anywhere outside her mind and diary. Oh get real, I know I would never leave the group, even if Tony started dating Scarlett. I would stay and probably start to hate both of them and only have Vanessa to complain to. Before she could dwell on that any longer Tony started with his cockiness, bringing a soft smirk to her face"Well aren't we conceited?"she teased"But seriously thank you, if I had went with Mamaw and Gramps, we would've had to walk, they don't believe in driving after 7, it's too close to their bedtime, they might fall asleep at the wheel."She rolled her eyes, her grandparents could be really annoying and she'd only known them for a few days.
She really should accept her grandparents more, but that would be like her talking to Scarlett again. Perhaps hating Scarlett was a bit too harsh, but what did you do about the girl that messed around in a closet with your boyfriend when you thought she was a friend? And what about if she never even tried to apologize for it? Gawd, she wished The A**hole had at least had the decency to cheat on her with a girl that wasn't one of her friends! Couldn't he have picked up some random slut like other guys did? Or better yet had not cheated on her and just broken up with her if he wanted to? But no, he figure he could sleep with Carmen and have Scarlett on the side. Pig! Although, Carmen found it slightly ironic that she dumped him, s he could have started going out with Scarlett but Scarlett now decided she liked Tony. But, Carmen would do whatever she could to keep them from dating because even if she did become friends with Scarlett again, she would never trust her again. Who's to say she won't cheat on Tony? Or she won't use him? And yes, Carmen realized she couldn't stop Tony from dating whoever he wanted, but she just didn't want him with Scarlett. Why don't I want him to date Scarlett? Why can't he date whoever he wants? She thought, not too sure she wanted to know the answer."Do you think it's weird that I haven't dated since the whole closet thing?"She wasn't sure where that came from, it was probably meant to be thought but she'd said it out loud. Now that the question was out there though, she actually wanted to see what he'd say. She herself had found it weird but she wasn't sure she was ready to have her broken again.
Carmen didn't know why she hadn't just moved on after that incident. Why hadn't she just gone out with Tony who she'd known liked her at the time? She wished she knew, but she didn't. All she knew was she was now sleeping around with Noah and trying to keep it a secret from everyone and that it was killing her. She'd never kept anything from Vanessa and Tony. She didn't want to start now. But how could she tell them? How could she tell Vanessa that she was sleeping around with the guy she might like, how could she tell Tony - her closest guy friend an the guy that liked her - that she was sleeping around with his best friend? Carmen felt the familiar sting of tears behind her eyes and quickly forced them back. If she started crying now, Tony would want to know why, and when confronted Carmen could not hold up a lie. You could always see right through it, mainly because her voice was a little different when she lied. Why don't just end it with Noah? I could tell him that I'm not comfortable with this whole thing . . . It would be the truth but if she broke it off with Noah that would leave her open to date and she didn't want another broken heart. What am I saying? Tony wouldn't break my heart . . . But how do I know my next boyfriend would be him? What if I'm wrong and he doesn't like me? What if he doesn't like me anymore? Carmen let out a sigh just as the park this BBQ thing would be held at. She hadn't recognized anyone until Tony made the statement"You still wanna ditch this thing?"she asked, hoping he did and would just turn the car around but at the same time she doubted he would.

- Louie could barely breath for a moment for laughing to much. But his little crisis ended fast. "Well, it's goo that you didn't change, you look great!" He said sincerely for once. It would be nice if Ray dressed out like that more often, it suited her. She really did look like a total different girl though. He took a minute to cool off and look at the place. It was crowded, apparently the whole city thought it would be nice to come the cook out. Nearly every second he had to lift his hand an wave to a familiar face.
Louie gaze at the couple of teens Rachel had just mention. At the moment, he felt like doing the 'what a hottie' whistle, but he thought twice and it was better not to. Ray was right, the blondie did seem to be a b***h, Louie did hate those kind of girls, but that didn't mean he couldn't acknowledge they were beautiful. And she really was gorgeous, not like any girls of South California he had seen, she even dressed differently. She had blond golden hairs, brown eyes and, COUGHCOUGHniceCOUGHtitsCOUGH. What, he was a boy afterwards, he noticed those things. And the boy next to her, well, he looked fine. "Ok, I'll show you the path!"
He smirked. He was just starting to march in direction of the New Yorkers when his cell started buzzing again. Before he'd even be able to read get his phone from his pocket, Jess showed up. He briefly said hi and took his phone out to read the message he had received. It was from Jess herself. He quickly read it and gave her a wink to show he had comprehended. As soon as he was putting the cell back to his pocket, he receive a new message. He smiled seeing it was from Andy. He had to say he was his best male friend.
To: Andy
From: Louie
that's top secret man
sorry
yeah i do my best
give me a heads up
when you get here!
Louie was finally able to push him and Ray threw the crowd. He went around them and was able to end on their in front of them. He wouldn't admit but he was a bit shy and intimidated by the New Yorkers. He didn't want to look like a dumb country boy, but he would never be able to disguise his accent, nor would he try to, he was proud of it. "Hello folks! Well I'm Louis... And, this here is Rachel, and we are from the welcoming committed... Am, no, we aren't really. We just want to show a bit of our southern hospitality."
He said in the most polite way he could. "So if you need help with any-"
He stopped, felling something pulling his shorts. He turned his head down to know who was causing this. He saw a little brunette girl with green eyes desperately trying to call his attention. It was Jane, one of the little girl he had took care in the day-care. "Excuse me just one moment."
He felt so embarrassed, he hated people knowing he worked at the cities day-care. And the children just made that worse by recognizing him on the street and wanting him to play with them. He squat down so he could face her. "Louie, Louie! She did meanie thing! I saw. You have to talk to 'er mommy! You have to, cause..."
The music was so loud an the little girl start doing so many gestures that Louis was getting confused. She didn't stop pointing at Scarlett and launching fierce eyes at her. "Yeah it's ok, it's ok alright? No one's going to do meanie things, I won't let. Now why don't you go play around?" The was somewhat frustrate, but she hugged Louie an ran out to play.
He lifted himself up apologetically. "Sorry, kids." His eyes asked for Ray's help, he didn't know what to say anymore.
OCC: Sorry, had to rush in the end!

Demetri looked around the park, noticing there were a lot of people showing up to the park. He started to smell hot dogs, hamburgers and pork. Yep, that was definitely the place that the BBQ was going on. Demetri shoved his hands in his pocket, eying the crowd that was formulating. He was about to start to walk over there, but he heard Scarlett use, or try to use, a Southern accent and talked about having good country fun. Demetri laughed and shook his head. "Wow Scarlett. I didn't know you had it in you to sound so country." Demetri said as he laughed again and then rolled his eyes. Even though Demetri was laughing about Scarlett sounding southern, he thought about how he could probably pull it off too. After all, their parents were actually Southern and lived here when they were kids and teenagers. Demetri sighed. It was horrible knowing that Demetri's parents were from some hick town in South Carolina and actually lived this way. Demetri was very thankful that he had not been born here, but he wasn't very thankful that he was here now. That was the last thing he wanted. Suddenly Demetri heard country music playing, right when Scarlett grabbed his arm. The song had reflected the thoughts he had had about his parents just a second ago. So now all they heard coming from somewhere was, "We hear folks in the city party in martini bars. And they like to show off in their fancy foreign cars. Out here in the boondocks we buy beer at Amoco. And crank our Kraco speakers with that country radio." Demetri rolled his eyes and tried to tune the song out. "Of course they would be playing that song with us here."[/color He said between his teeth as he put his arm around Scarlett's waist.
Demetri's blue eyes scanned around the park once more, watching the people that were arriving. They were bringing coolers and lawn chairs with them, dragging their kids behind him with the one hand and holding their stuff with the other. He heard a bunch of "Howdy's" and "Hey there partner's." Demetri shook his head. This scene that was playing out before him was so country that it was too horrible to speak of. The bad thing was that they had to endure this for most of the evening. Demetri had the feeling that he would be left alone at some point. In fact, he knew he would because Scarlett was probably planning something with Tony later, Carmen hated him and has since the closet incident and Noah would probably be too busy womanizing the girls. That last thought made Demetri smile though. Noah had always been such a womanizer and probably always would be. His smile faded though because he thought about Carmen. They both had harsh feelings for each other now. Demetri had wanted to apologize to her for that closet incident, but she had refused to talk to him. Demetri figured she had just been using him anyway, so he really didn't worry too much about it. Demetri rolled his eyes and then diverted his attention back to Scarlett. The look on her face was amusing, but Demetri was sure that his face was reflecting hers. He was just as horrified as she was.
"Explain how we can show these hicks a thing or two about fun?" Demetri asked as his smile slowly grew on his face. "Hmmm, well, if one of us brought an iPod or something, maybe we can find where this country music crap is coming from and plug our iPod up to it somehow. Then we can show them a few dances moves."[/color Demetri explained. By the time he was through talking, his smile was wide and cheesy. He so wanted to get his dance on at this hick party. How he was going to get some good music going though, he wasn't entirely sure. Demetri sighed and then made his way over to the little shelter with the pick-nick tables and just kind of stood there. Scarlett's grandmother happened to be standing there and she came over and started talking to them. Demetri was going to sigh, but he wasn't sure if she was the kind of old woman that hit kids when they were disrespectful or not. Scarlett's grandmother kept calling him "David." That was not Demetri's name. Maybe he would say something about it later. But then again, maybe he wouldn't. He was only going to be here for the Summer and he probably wouldn't be back again, so it really didn't matter what Scarlett's grandmother called him. Demetri put on a facade that made it look like he was interested in what the old lady was talking about. Demetri watched as Scarlett moved over to the drinks. He kind of smiled because of the way she was looking at the drinks. She was looking for exactly what he would have been looking for, alcohol. That was definitely something he needed while he was there, but it seemed there would be no way to get it. That made Demetri grimace and then he pulled part of his attention back to Scarlett's grandmother. She was talking about something like having to do something for Scarlett's grandfather. Demetri wasn't really paying attention.
It looked as if the sun was starting to set. Demetri looked out towards the opening of the park, where all the trees had parted and left a space to look through. It was the most beautiful thing Demetri had ever seen. Though he never would have admitted it. The sun turned the sky pretty colors like blue, pink, orange and purple. It was gorgeous. Demetri watched as the sun set, smiling as it did. Night time was his favorite time, but he wasn't sure that the night here brought much excitement. When Demetri stopped watching the sun set, he looked back at Scarlett's grandmother, who was still talking. He couldn't remember how long he had been standing here listening to her talk. He smiled when Scarlett came back and stood next to him. He watched her tie the cherry stem and his smile grew just a little bit. That saying about being able to tie a cherry stem with your tongue was totally true. For a moment, Demetri thought about that intimate moment in the closet. Scarlett was an amazing kisser. Demetri had been pleasantly surprised. Demetri snapped out of his reverie and answered Scarlett's question. "Nope. Nothing missed here." He said with a touch of bitterness lining his words. Demetri sincerely hoped that something good would happen at this stupid BBQ. "Who knows, maybe some of these girls from around here are pretty. Maybe I could talk to one of them." Demetri thought to himself. But he wasn't going to hold his breath on talking anyone at this thing. That thought was demolished, for the moment only, when a brown haired boy and brown haired girl came towards them. Demetri raised an eyebrow, wanting laugh a little bit at his Southern accent when he greeted them, but he stopped himself from laughing. He didn't want to make a fool of himself here. Demetri put out his hand toward the brown haired boy who's name he said was Louis. "Hello Louis. I'm Demetri." He told him, shaking his hand briefly, then letting go and putting his hand in his pocket. Demetri leaned against one of the posts that was nearest to him and folded his arms. "Wow. These kids really are country."[/color He thought to himself with a smirk. Maybe he could stir some stuff up later. Maybe. But he wasn't sure if he would or not.

~Jess McGuire
"I'm shy and I'm sweet, but I won't be pushed around,"
Jess saw the wink, and satisfied, opened her book, peeking up every few seconds to make sure Andy hadn't arrived yet, and following Ray and Louis. She had heard them mocking all their accents, and so, in her mind, she thought she'd give them a little payback. Jess wasn't really an avenger, and she would avoid conflict at all costs. But she had unknowingly followed Ray and Louis right into the hornets nest, and now she felt oblidged to introduce herself, because she was raised right. She peeked up from her book, a single blonde lock falling in front of her extraoridnary blue eyes. She'd spent a little time up north for a few months a couple years back. Her friends had noticed quite the accent change, but of course she'd reverted back soon enough. It was kind of hard not to when you're immersed in such thick accents all the time. But that didn't mean she still didn't know how to talk like them.
A little girl grabbed Louis's attention, and she saw the blonde guy - Demetri, he said his name was - lean back. She decided this was as good of a moment as any to introduce herself. So, with perfect northern diction, not letting ant of her southern drawl leak into the sentence, she spoke. "My name's Jess. Welcome to Folly Fields." she said brightly, though the sickly sweet nature of her voice almost made her vomit, because she was trying way to hard. "But then, I'm sure you've already agonized over being here." she added, her voice still sweet, but not honey-dripping-make-me-wanna-gag sweet anymore. It was her normal tone, but she'd purposely put a steel edge over the nice factor. With any luck, they would leave her alone because of how she was acting, but then, she'd never been lucky.
So, she went back to same little self, and held the book up in front of her face, still looking around every now and again to see if she could spot Andy. She was usually the don't-speak-unless-spoken-to type anyway, and she saw no cause to throw that rep in the toilet just because there was fresh carcass for all of them to deep fry. Eeeew, overly graphic image, she thought to herself, internally grimacing, though keeping a content smile on the outside. She immersed herself in the world of dragons and magic and elves once more, just like always. Classic Jess. It was unusual of her to talk to anybody outside her social circle, and she was really shy, but she'd openly spoken, and mocked them with her very accent. No doubt the other two would be shocked, but who knows, stranger things have happened to her and with her.

- What the point of even talking to these kids? They didn't want to be here, and obviously no one wanted them here. So, they could just leave and go back to their polluted air and over-populated state while breathing in toxic chemicals. That was all fine and dandy with Rachel but no way in hell was she going to be making friend's with these 'yankee's'. By the way they seemed to act, they looked like a bunch of jerks and it seemed that she was, as always, right. While Ray was flipping through her many thoughts views about the situation, someone got in her line of vision as she stared off into space. She then looked to Jess, her best friend, and grinned. She pulled her friend into a big hug then pulled away quickly so she could breathe, "Finally!" She said dramatically and then Louis started pulling her through the crowd. Well, this should be interesting, she thought sarcastically, and then they stood in front of the two blondes. The boy was attractive but wasn't her type at all, and the girl, well she just looked like a hoe, but that was coming from a country girl. Maybe, just maybe, she would unexpectedly becomes friend's with her, but if that happened, there was no way she would ever be in her comfortable basketball shorts and t-shirts again. I'll pass. Listening as Louie introduced himself, then her, he began babbling. It was normal though, especially when he was really nervous. Being nervous around two blondes who were totally out of place and judgemental was a way to make yourself look very stupid.
Instead of freaking out and blushing or holding out her hand, Ray stood there studying the two blondes with a blank expression. When Louie excused himself to go take care of a small girl who walked up to him, she sighed. She knew all about her bestfriend's take care job; they were best friend's, they told eachother everything...well besides one little thing. Turning back towards the two outcasts, Rachel placed her hands on her hips, smiling fakely, "Yeah, I'm Rachel." She said in a tone that was most likely unreadable, there was no emotional, unless counting the slight boredomness inside. She adjusted the hat she had stolen for Louis and looked to the one who introduced himself as Demetri. Expected, to say the least. Rachel's accent wasn't as thick, sure at some words some people could point it out right away, but she overall had a normal voice. Ray glanced over her shoulder, just as Louie came up and gave her 'the look'. Of course she knew exactly what it meant and looked back to the two, "I'm guessing your daddy's and mommy's haven't brought you to South Carolina before...Atleast, it doesn't look like it. I'm also just winging it here, but since New York isn't the 'grassiest' place on earth you probably don't play sports, either." She rolled her eyes at the thought of beating all these suckers at sports. Woah, now lets hold the phone, that would actually be fun to see the 'yankee's' eating grass.
"Anyway, miss legally blonde, what's your name?" She motioned to the blonde chick and didn't show any sign of humor. Yes, she was being a slightly disrespectful, but she was going to put up with anyone's bull, especially the 'yankee's'. They were in HER town, so if they didn't show any sign of happiness or be respectful she would just make her fist get in contact with their faces. Looking over at Jess who had arrived momentarily and began to introduce herself. Rachel felt totally awkward and looked over to her father who was messing around with her brother. Some people began to dance around to the songs that were playing. Personally, Ray didn't enjoy country music, in fact it really bugged her. Just because she was a country girl didn't mean she liked the same type of music most others did. "Who were you texting?" The brunette asked curiously as she turned towards Louis. First Jess, then Louis? Were they keeping something from her? If that was the case, she was going to give them a huge scolding, but she didn't know for sure. Of course she knew that Jess and Louie were planning some scheme and the weird thing was that she hated even been in contact with Andy. For some reason it seemed that certain someones were keeping them apart. Yes, a light bulb went off in her head, then suddenly she realized what was going on. Okay, she wasn't going to yell at them in front of the yankee's so she would keep her mouth shut, for the time-being, atleast. Folding her arms across her chest somewhat stubbornly the girl felt like she was being shoved off and locked in a corner. Well, somehow she was going to see Andy, and explain to him what happened. If her friend's were trying something, she was going to give them a rude awakening, or atleast she was going to try... Confused by her thoughts, Rachel began to nervously chew on her lip. It wasn't that she was nervous because the yankee's were around, but she was beginning to get more confused by the second. Why did they have to come? ESPECIALLY now..

Tony laughed at what Carmen had to say about her grandparents falling asleep at the wheel since they didn't drive after 7:00. "That's pretty lame, my mimi and pawpaw actually don't go to bed until like. . .10 which is surprisngly late for old people." He mused while watching the road "However, they assume that since I have a license and I'm sooooo young and strapping that I can drive them here and there whenever they need me." Tony grumbled and rolled his eyes "They don't even ask me if I want to. They just hand me the flippin' keys." He said this obviously striking a small nerve as he threw his hand up in the air for dramatic effect "And it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't complain so much." He rolled his eyes again and scoffed "Tony slow down the speed limit is 45 you're going 47. . .Tony you took that turn way too fast, Tony could you scoot up, your poor pawpaw is squished back there." He said making his voice as high picthed and annoying as possible in attempts at imitating his mimi "Real pain in the a**. I swear." He paused for about half a second and then a smirk spread across his face "Maybe if I veer off the road and into a tree they won't make me drive anymore." He said in a sly sort of manner. . .although Tony wouldn't sacrifice the freedom to drive at all just to rid himself of the bussing services he forcefully provided. Only shortly after sending Carmen a response while speeding down the highway towards Folly Fields he had recieved another response, read the message and quickly wrote back while making sure he was actually going to slide off the road and into a Magnolia tree.

Tony quickly sent the message knowing very well that he wanted to vent to Scarlett about things and he figured she felt much the same way. . .about Folly Fields, over bearing grandparents and almost anything else that was on her mind. . .and Tony felt like he needed to talk about Carmen and all this stuff, while Tony pretty much told Carmen and Vanessa everything. . .he wasn't stupid enough to talk about them to their faces. . .however, he did notice that whenever the subject of Carmen came up Scarlett seemed to kind of take offense. . .or that's what Tony gathered, but he promised to himself that he'd keep his Carmen problems to a minimum this evening when he had a one on one therapy session with the bossy leader. While setting his black touch screen phone back down in his lap Carment asked a question that caught Tony off guard, what kind of a question is that, he thought bemused locking eyes with the road as the truck approached the stop light just before the park. He pursed his lips thoughtfully attempting to come up with a reasonable answer to this question "No." Tony said sounding as if he were ghandi or something, giving off great advice. "I'd say it's pretty normal. . .I mean I haven't dated since me and Vanessa broke up. . ." His voice trailed off as Tony realized he hadn't actually dated but flinged around instead "And that was a couple months ago or something. . ." He commented as the light turned green and he drove closer to the park now catching a glimpse of Scarlett and Demitri and then proceeded to go through the whole 'oh damn' thing before Carmen brought up the idea of still ditching. More than anything Tony wanted to skip out on this but he had told Scarlett he'd be there. . .but later. . .besides, Tony knew he'd have to show up anyway after all his mimi and pawpaw were going to be there too, cahoot with their old fuddy duddy friends, and of course they'd go looking for their grandson.
"Here's the thing." Tony started as the truck sped past the park and then on into what little stretch of town was left "My mimi and pawpaw are going to be there later, obviously meaning they'll make sure I'm there too. . .so in the end I have to go. . ." He paused for a second before continuing "I also promised Scarlett I'd be there." Tony said expecting Carmen to probably reach over and punch his shoulder or any part of his body that she could reach "However." He started before she could take such action "I said I'd be there later since I was picking some people up, you being the only one so far even though I asked Vanessa if she needed a ride. . .haven't heard anything back yet." Tony paused thouhtfully for a second "Anyway so here's the plan. We ditch for maybe an hour or so. . .show up at the party, shoot the bees with the group, make sure my grandparents see me and then do whatever the hell we want after that." Tony paused knowing he probably should let Carmen know he was taking a drive with Scarlett. . .but there was no reason to make this a horribly silent and awkward car ride or ditch session, so he'd keep it a secret and he and Scarlett could sneak away when everyone was distracted. . .it almost felt like he had to keep these stupid one on one's a secret from everyone else. . .which he did or it would probably mean losing Carmen and Vanessa as friends, something he couldn't afford.
"And if we're lucky my Mimi will NOT butt into my business and bring out all the elidgable Folly Fields females to greet me, like she did when I was 15 at their church." Tony grumbled remembering how emberassing and annoying that was, in fact he could feel his cheeks flushing red from the memory. "She freakin' made me look like the most desperate guy around!! Thing was I wasn't exactly single at the time!! Gawd!!" He paused for a second then spoke yet again "Only reason she was doing it was the fact that she thinks these home town honies were going to turn me into a good boy." Tony scoffed and then smirked and laughed bitterly "If anything I'd have a better chance at turning them into a complete drinking party girl, than they would at turning me into a good christian boy." Tony said rolling his eyes playfully as the town faded back into the countryside, and trees gave way to the Atlantic shore line. Tony then sort of remembered something that he shouldn't have forgotten. . .would certainly spice up this little shin dig and who knew maybe even the South Carolina kids would want to participate as well. . .after all they were teenagers too. . ."You know." Tony started following the curves of the road as it moved and changed with the shore line "I should have grabbed those bottles of tequila and whiskey my mimi and pawpaw have hidden in the back of their pantry."
