❖Story❖

tsap It was the summer of 1981, six friends were spending their final summer together on the beaches of South Carolina, in a little dot on the map known as Folly Field. These six high school graduates had dreams much too big for their little hometown and had planned everything out just right, they'd stay together and attend the same college in New York City, starting in the fall. The time came and these six friends left the southern beaches of South Carolina behind for the big apple, a city just big enough to make their dreams come true. Time passed and graduation from college rolled around and I think you know how the old song goes 'first comes love, then comes marraige then comes the baby in the baby carraige. All six friends stayed close through marraige and having children, which had just so happened they all had children the exact same age. . .it would appear that fate was in favor of these six.

The six friends had made their dreams come true through all the hard work and discipline, their families were rich living in the nicest pent houses NYC had to offer, their children were spoiled and got everything and anything they wanted, life was grand. As their children grew up their parents soon realized that they were taking everything for granted and their behavior was spiraling rapidly. The offspring of the original six are also best friends with one another since they were forced into contact with one another from a very young age and clicked immediately. They grew up together and went to the same schools but as time went on they were getting involved in wild parties, sex, drinking, some of them even drugs. . .while it would appear to them that this was the life, their parents thought otherwise. They collectively decided that the city and it's wild atmosphere was causinig all of this corruption and that maybe sending them away for the summer to live with relatives would suffice. Since the original six all had family in Folly Fields. . .it was only perfect that they send their kids to live in their home town in South Carolina.

present Six friends of the same age as the six from New York live happily in Folly Fields, South Carolina. They also grew up together and went to the same school since there wasn't another education option within a short distance. As they got older that's where the differences stopped. . .these teenagers hung out with each other without the booze and sex, it was all about good fun and making good memories together, not living life in the fast lane. While they are happy and everything seems perfect they would rather not spend the rest of their lives in South Carolina after high school. . .they aspire to leave the south for a place with more opporunity, see what life is really like. However, growing up in a small town has left them isolated from the rest of the world and they do have some unrealistic ideas of what things are like in the real world, the things the New York kids know ALL too much about.

It's the beginning of summer and the yankees have only been down south for a couple days and are still trying to get used to the place, and over the anger at their families for sending them to this hell hole. They miss the city while the country folk are making the most of their summer and going about life as if nothing was wrong. Tonight there is a town barbeque and concert that ALL will be forced to attend. . .forcing the sheltered SC kids in contact with the street wise NYC kids. What happens when complete opposites mix and mingle? Action, romance, heart ache, rejection, betrayal, love triangles, one night stands, the change of a life time for twelve teenagers could only be possible when a new generation returns home.

•••[indent]Yes I know, paragraph-ish form ugh! Well too bad so sad. It just looks nicer. . .anyway let's get started. First off if you are a beginner roleplayer that's great! Just not here, this is a semi-literate to literate thread a one liner CERTAINLY won't cut it. So once again, if you are new to the whole roleplaying thing and find it a chore to post one decent paragraph, please redirect yourself to the back button located at the top of the screen because this is not a place for you. Now that that's taken care of if you are a semi to literate roleplayer (If you do not know what that is, then please leave. . .) I welcome you with open arms. Please feel free to look around and join!

•••[indent]Now that we've taken care of who should and shouldn't join it's time to get down to the nitty gritty. I know most of you probably know these rules and are sick of reading them, but if I do not put them somewhere, the gaia cops will be displeased with me. First of all, NO cybering! It's just discusting! Please keep your urges to yourself and timeskip if things get too steamy, please spare the rest of us! However, if things get to the point where I feel as though something should be said, I will let you know and expect you to stop whatever it is that you are doing. We're all 'adults' here so PG 16 PLEASE!

•••[indent]Secondly NO KILLING! EVER!! Not even your own character. In addition to that, this also means no ridiculous suicide attempts for example: Sissy lala put the gun to her head and pulled the trigger, but was rushed to the hospital and the doctors saved her! Sorry but NOBODY lives to tell the tale of their failed attempt to kill themselves when it involves a bullet and a head. Just keep things real, if you drink 9 beers, your character is going to be wasted. . .NOT totally fine, now that we have a mutual understanding, lets move on.

•••[indent]Finally, almost everyone is welcome. I've already specified that beginner roleplayers are not wanted here, not to be mean but this is a semi literate to literate thread, that's just the way it is. Secondly, treat others the way you want to be treated. I know I sound like an elementary school teacher when I recite the golden rule, but please be nice to one another. . .if you want a knock down drag out then go beat up someone who actually exists. Romance, drama, and violence are encouraged but remember PG 16!! One more thing, it's a roleplay. . .have fun with it!

•••[indent]All profiles are sent to me in a PM (If you do not know what THAT is, then you need to leave as well) if a profile is posted in the 'Profile' thread or 'OOC' thread without approval from me it WILL be deleted, no questions asked. Your profile must be accepted before you begin posting, I will send you an acceptance letter and tell you to post the profile in the profile thread, DO NOT post until you recieve it. If you do not recieve an acceptance letter or a suggestion on how to fix it, then it's obvious that you were not accepted. . .sorry.

•••[indent]Once your profile has been accepted you have five days to begin posting, if you do not begin posting within that time bracket I will re-open your character so I expect to see you posting within that time period, sooner rather than later. In addition to profiles, there's also the reserve which I will elaborate on later, but reserves last 24 hours and 24 hours only. If I do not recieve your profile in that 24 hour time block without some kind of warning, I will also re-open your character.

•••[indent]I also want this to be a long term roleplay, so if you join, you're in it for the long run. Don't join, post once or twice, and then quit. . .it's just plane rude and more importantly you've wasted my time. . .and your own, so please if you join. . .stick with it as long as possible. I understand that things come up, but you do need to let me know if you won't be able to post for some reason or another so I don't end up deleting your character because I'm a little pissy if you haven't posted in a few days. By a few days I mean 5. If you do not post in five days without warning, i will begin to bug you until I get a response. . .either that or just delete your character once I get tired of contacting you.

•••[indent]In reguards to posting, this is a semi-literate to literate roleplay so I expect to see something ranging from one well developed, seven sentence paragraph upwards to two or three, NO LONGER THAN FIVE PARAGRAPHS, unless it's your first post but after that condense your writing if you are accustomed to writing seven to ten paragraphs. . .I like reading long posts but not THAT long. When I say sentences I mean GOOD sentences not inky dinky little ones. Post a one liner and I will come after you in the night and kill you! I understand that writers block happens, but even I can write at least ONE decent paragraph when I'm completely stumped, so please put forth an effort while posting.

•••[indent]Please post often, like I said I want a long term roleplay out of this so please post at least once every week so things don't just die, since we are in the midst of school I'm a little more lenient with this. . .but give me a warning if you'll be taking a leave of absence and I won't hurt you. DO NOT post in this forum if you have not sent me a reserve, profile, and been accepted on both of those things, I had a terrible time with this in one of my other posts. This is a roleplay NOT a chatterbox.

•••[indent]In reguards to general posting technique and the all around look of your post. Pretty posts are definetly better and obviously more attractive, so decorate them as much as you would like with quotes, song lyrics, icons, however no more than 2 full size pictures of your character. . .there is a fine line between just right and too much, be mindful of that please. Also when choosing a posting color, make it exciting and don't pick a boring default one like red or blue, make it 'firebrick' or 'cadetblue' this is a summer thread so BRIGHT COLORS ARE ENCOURAGED, HOWEVER NOT LIKE YELLOW OR CYAN. . .I'd rather not have my eyes bleed, brighter blues, purples, greens, pinks etc are what I'm talking about. refrain from using the depressingly boring or dull colors, (grey and silver are fine for 2nd posting colors) I like bright colors USE THEM!! Also your font size should range from 10 to 11, it's more attractive.

•••[indent]Other posting techniques such as speech, thoughts and text messages/e-mails are also important. Your posts should be in past tense while not speaking, thinking, or texting. When your character is speaking it must be in your posting color BOLDED! Thoughts should be in first person, italics, and your posting color. Finally text messages should be underlined, center aligned, and in your posting color.

•••[indent]When it comes to picking your pictures DO NOT USE THE PAPARAZZI CANDID ONES, THEY LOOK HORRIBLE IN MY OPINION. Use professionally taken pictures from photo shoots or something. Also pictures from premiers or from the red carpet are also a no no, I don't like them! IF YOU PUT YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME OR ANY SORT OF TEXT ON YOUR PICTURE I WILL SHOOT YOU!!! IT'S NOT COOL OR CUTE, IT'S DISTRACTING, LOOKS TACKY AND TRASHY!! (Except in the main forum picture, we all agree that it looks nice, but other wise it looks like sh*t) In additioin to that DO NOT decorate them with starts, flowers, kissy marks or anything else, like I said it's ugly. . .my ONLY exception. . .are if the text is on an ICON. . .some icons are great and are actually enhanced by text, those are just find, but a main picture with added text is NOT tolerated. . .nuff said.

I know that I touched on some profile and reserve information in the official rules, but I figured that the art of perfecting a reserve and profile was worth a seperate post. So here it is. . .enjoy! I'm a very thorough person be thankful. . .I put myself under a lot of stress to make things easy on you guys, be thankful I take time to write up all this crap to minmize confusion.

Do you have to send me a reserve before a profile? Will the sun kill you if you get too close? Yes, you must send me a reserve before a profile. Why? First, I need it for the 'characters' post. Second, a reserve will give you dibb's on a character you want, but keep in mind reserves don't last forever. Finally. . . .because I said so!

What does a reservation require to be accepted? Not that much actually. You first need to fill out the reservation skeleton accordingly. That means filling in ALL information and filling in your posting color. You also need to fill in the icons correctly, this means using IMG codes from photobucket, NOT MALFORMED URLs. I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH how much those DON'T work! The icons MUST be 100x100 or it will throw off the reserve and result in automatic rejection. And finally, you must title the PM correctly.

When sending the reserve please title it: 'Summer is a grand old time', once the reserve has been sent, please wait for a private message from me before sending me a profile or anything else, your reserve MUST be accepted before sending me a profile or it will immediately be rejected!

You've recieved the acceptance letter, but you're not done. Yes, the reserve has been accepted, but you're not done. . .the profile is the next step. Before you may being posting, I must accept your profile first. The profile is mainly for decoration purpose and it gives me a feel for what kind of roleplayer you are, and your abilities to play up to a character and your ability to just follow written instructions and get them correct.

For a profile to be accepted, you must fill out ALL the information correctly or I will ask you to fix it, and expect you to do so. Once again, icons must be appropriate size, and NO MALFORMED URLs, PLEASE!! IMG CODES WORK LOVELY. . .USE THEM!! There are both icons and a main picture on your profile. Obviously, the profile is much more detailed than the reserve, and when filling it out I expect you to be creative and have fun with it, creative profiles are much more interesting that typical cookie cutter ones!

Profiles are sent to me via private message. When sending me your profile please title it 'What are these kids doing here??'. Wait for my second acceptance letter before posting. If you do send in your profile before the thread has been officially opened, then you will recieve an acceptance letter first, and then another telling you to begin posting once I've officially opened the thread.

❖The Characterz❖


A few things before I introduce our characters, this time I decided to pick the celebrities myself, sucks for you! This way I don't have to deal with depressing emos, people I've never seen before in my life, pictures of people themselves, or age inappropriate characters. Now I know some of you are 'disney/over used celebrity' haters, well screw you! We ALL loved disney at one time, why do we have to start hating now? Anyway, I like them all so if you have a problem then get out! Most of these characters are over used and disney stars or stars everyone knows and may or may not love so just get over it, there are plenty of other roleplays out there where you can hate on Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. Now if you like these people like I do then you shouldn't have that problem. However, I am a nice guy and will listen to reason. . .not this time. If you are desperate enough to join then you'll deal with the people I've picked capisce? These characters have specific titles so to speak, so when you apply for a character keep in mind that your character should live up to their title and breif description, it's your job as the avid roleplayer to live up to the description as best as you can. When you fill out your biography on the profile skeleton DO NOT copy the character description and paste it into the biography, be original and use your brain, seriously people. If you can't come up with a decent biography without taking MY descriptions, then how does that effect my image of your roleplaying abilities?? Any more questions? No. Good. Done.

Now these characters are obviously very different, some of them are herolding from tiny southern towns and others from metropolitan areas. The kids from NYC know all about the city and what the real world is like, they are all about crazy parties and all that goes along with them. These kids are also spoiled and used to the finest things in life since their parents are rich. So far they hate South Carolina and miss home for the simple fact that Folly Fields does not have a mall or night club within a 2 hour drive. The kids from south carolina are sheltered and all about having some good natured fun without the things NYC kids find necessary. They are pretty innocent and are a little oblivious to what lies outside of Folly Fiels and South Carolina in general. ALL the characters are the same age, 17, sorry if you disagree but that's the way things are, it's the summer before their Senior year after all the summer before college is so cliche.

You all know this one, there's hardly a story without the bitchy bossy girl. Ever since these six became friends she was the boss of them all, telling them what to do where to go and how things were going to be done. However, Scarlett has her sickeningly sweet side, too bad she uses it to her advantage. . .she's sweet and kind to the people who need to see it, but once things go south or she's around the right people. . .the sweet completely disappears. Scarlett acts this way for one main reason. . .she's jealous and feels left out a lot of the time. Seeing that Vanessa and Carmen are practically sisters, Scarlett doesn't have a gal pal to go around with, so she spends a lot of her time with Demitri, but it's hard not having a bestie of the same gender to talk about 'girl' things with. In the past Scarlett had a bit of a fling with Noah. However, she has been paying a little more attention to Anthony than usual but at the same time notices Vanessa cuddling up to her ex. . .something she won't take sitting down.

No story would be complete without a girl who knows a little thing or two about clothes and colors. Vanessa only wears brand name clothing and the most expensive items she can find, everything she wears is 'in' and always looks great. You'll often find her in a New York botique along with her best friend, mommy and daddy's credit card. But what is a girl without her shopping buddie that isn't made of plastic? From day one Vanessa was Carmen's best friend and sister for life, how sweet! I think I just vomited a little. Anyway the two find Scarlett's interference annoying and often rebel against her, not listening to her or carrying out activities or plans she's made. . .while they do their own things sometimes that doesn't keep them from partying with strangers and their friends. . .NYC certainly didn't skip Vanessa when it comes to parties and goings on at them. Recently Vanessa has been growing closer and closer to Noah but knows better than to get caught up in his charm. . .but she finds it much easier said than done. In the past Vanessa dated Anthony but it didn't work out, and now Vanessa has noticed Scarlett's recent behavior about her ex, but Vanessa figures that Scarlett's just playing Anthony to get under her skin. . .and it's kind of working.

❝The Outgoing Artist❞

She loves all things artistic whether ancient or modern. Carmen has creativity practically bursting from her finger tips, anything she touches may very well turn into a masterpiece. . .she'd always been artistic and creative, taking all the classes when and where she could. Carmen is not only just an artist but won't back down from a dare or the opportunity to prove herself. . .making her outgoing and creative at the same time. However, when it comes to people Carmen can be a bit on the shy and reserved side depending on the situation. . .but when with her best friend, Vanessa she's completely her outgoing self and afraid of nothing. While Vanessa has no problem speaking her mind in all situations, especially with Scarlett breathing down their necks, Carmen does have a difficult time standing up to Scarlett despite her fast lane state of being. Being somewhat shy around boys Carmen keeps them as fun loving party friends and at times friends with benefits if she feels daring enough. Her closest guy friend is Anthony. she suspects that he likes her, but doesn't want to take a chance because of her latest relationship. Her last love relationship was Demitri, she loved him for his outgoing and wild taste for life, but in the end broke her heart and is now her reason for keeping a distance between guys.

Kind of funny and silly Anthony is a nice guy through and through, when confronted with a difficult situation he handles it delicately while trying to be as honest as possible without breaking someones spirits. Anthony is also talkative, while still a guy he says more than your everyday average guy, it comes with the territory of him being a people person and the thrill of an exciting or in depth conversation.. While he's kind and caring on the surface, deep down Anthony does have his hateful streak and mean thoughts and comments. . .but who doesn't get a little testy when you act nice 24/7 he just keeps them to himself unless presented with the opportunity to vent one on one. Anthony is good friends with Noah and Carmen you can find him hanging with either one of them partying at the night clubs or just around the city. Other than being the good guy Anthony plays a few sports and does all that good working out when he finds the time, after all fitness is important. Anthony had a good run with the Vanessa but in the end things really didn't work out and he's now more or less interested in Carmen but she seems so distant at times he's starting to lose hope and noticing Scarlett's behavior towards him and is now more confused than ever.

It almost brings that Britney Spears song to mind. . .well not really but no group of party animals isn't complete without their womanizer. You can tell by just looking at him that he's a lady's man. . .hardly ever without one. Noah had always been very into girls from the first day of kindergarten, while most boys were staying away from or making fun of girls, he was embracing them with his charming and cute disposition. While most of his groupies, the female ones anyway, know how he is and how he works his magic, sometimes they can't help but fall victim to his roguish and/or caring and gentle charm, depends on the girl of his choice. Noah is good friends with Anthony and Demitri, at the moment he is 'friends' with Carmen but he views her more as a challenge and a prize above anything else, nothing past a one night stand. But with the new loving attention he's been recieving from Vanessa, his attention has been elsewhere and he detects something between Carmen and Anthony, but he isn't sure and if there is that isn't going to stop him. In the past The Womanizer had a fling with Scarlett, but in the end she was too high maitinence and needy, while he was too flirty and promiscuous. . .so it didn't really work out.

Hitting up the local club scene or hippest block party, that's where you'll find our local Demitri. He was the first to get a taste of what the real spirit of wild parties are in New York, and it was just so good he had to bring all his friends along. . .which he did and got them relatively hooked as well. While outgoing and carefree it doesn't come as a surprise that this guy will do anything and everything at a party. . .he's had his way around the booze, drugs and sex and doesn't plan on stopping. . .it's too much fun and gives you that awesome rush to just quick cold turkey. Demitri is good friends with Noah, Scarlett and somewhat friends with Vanessa. For the longest time he's had a school boy chrush on Scarlett since she was the first girl to befriend him so quickly, but never figured himself good enough for her, in all reality he knows that in her eyes there really ISN'T anyone good enough for that girl. While still having that crush Demitri also realized that he has a little something for our Vanessa, but with her getting close to his friend Noah, things aren't looking so great. In the past he dated Carmen but his party party mentality brought it to shambles once he was caught by Carmen at one party in a closet with none other than his loyal companion, Scarlett! Oops. Now he looks back and came to the conclusion that she was just using him for her own evil plans and schemes.

Rough and tough and definetly speaks her mind, she can play any sport she wants just as good as the boys and can run with the best of them. From a very early age Mary was always hanging out with boys her age and older and her big mouth earned their respect, she always played any sport she could or game with them, for most of her life she always befriended boys. . .girls were too intimidating and catty for her taste, besides beating the crap out of someone was much easier and fun than talking behind their back. Once the girly hormones kicked in Mary changed a bit in the more and headed in the more girly direction but was still sports crazed and played football with the rest of the guys on the beach. Mary has always been close to Loveable Dork, after all they're practically brother and sister but most of the time Mary punches and beats up the poor guy, but he doesn't mind too much. . .after all they both know it's all in good fun. Speaking of Loveable Dork, while they are best friends Mary can't help her feelings she had for him the longest time. . .but has been too proud to admit she is madly in love with him. Mary is also close friends with Jess and just recently broke up with Andrew, and it wasn't pretty.

Jess is quiet and reserved most of the time, even around her friends she doesn't say a whole lot unless addressed, she would much rather listen to problems than have people worry about her own or deal with them. Other than being shy our Bookworm obviously loves reading anything from a fictional fantasy to a romantic love novel, she's read them all. Jess has always been good friends with Mary and Alexandria, but at times Alexandria seems a little too eccentric and flirty for her taste, but she loves her anyway after all there's nothing wrong with people being themselves. Jess is currently dating Dexter and has been for about the past year and it's been perfect, just like one of the romantic novels she reads. However, she feels bad for her friend, Mary, since she's having such a hard time getting over her break up with Andrew, but has been trying to encourage her friend to give Loveable Dork a chance. . .

Rarely is she ever in a relationship very long. . .or one at all, it would tie her down from flirting and being that sassy eccentric girl that she is. Sassy Goofball is somewhat outspoken and has a wide vocabulary of real words and some she tends to make up at times. Alexandria is loved by all but sometimes hated for a little while by those whose heart she breaks. Alexandria is close friends with Dexter and Andrew, they are definetly three of a kind and she loves their attention. A while back she left Loveable Dork heartbroken after leading him on the worst of all and their friendship hasn't been quite the same since, and after that went down Mary hasn't quite forgiven Alexandria for hurting her best friend so badly and likewise for the way Rachel hurt Andrew, one of Alexandria best friends. Alexandria is also friends with Jess however her flirty habits have put a bit of a damper on their relationship because Alexandria often flirts with her boyfriend, Dexter. . .but Jess is too timid to do anything about it, just lets it go.

Dexter excells in all subjects at school except of course those that involve athletic skill past running and jumping. While smart and witty the attention his smarts attract annoys him and he sometimes wishes that he really wasn't so bright. After all would you love a school counselor bugging you about grades, colleges, ACT scores and the latest scholarships? However Dexter's loyal girlfriend, Jess is always there to listen when he's stressed and needs to vent, he loves his girlfriend with all his heart but sometimes the pressure gets to him and he may hurt her unintentionally with his bitter sarcasm when put under a lot of pressure. Dexter is close friends with Alexandria and twin brothers with Andrew, he loves his little brother but that doesn't mean they aren't without their annoying disputes and Dexter is loyal to his best friend, Alexandria. However, with her fun loving zest for life may cause him to forget that he has a girlfriend and will sometimes flirt back with his friend, Alexandria.

Straight from the novel himself, Andrew is a modern day Romeo and perhaps the sweetest and most romantic guy in Folly Fields. While a guy none the less he finds all those sweet little romantic touches, red roses, candle lit dinners, a must for almost any occasion and will sometimes insist on such things. While he doesn't write poetry or anything whispering sweet nothings isn't always out of the question or those sappy love sayings or moments didn't miss Andrew. He does believe in love at first sight but it just hasn't happened to him yet, although he did get out of a relationship with Mary. They were probably the cutest couple in their high school until Mary got a little too proud and believed that Andrew loved her more than she loved him. . .so she broke up with him. She felt horrible about this but figured it was best, it didn't help that she left him completely heartbroken. Andrew ran to his friends, Alexandria and Loveable Dork and his older twin brother, Dexter for emotional support. While they do ease the pain of all the break up drama and pain your friends can only help you so much.

He's awkward at times, talkative, funny, ditzy and a total dork pretty much all of the time, but he's just too goofy and silly to actually dislike him. . .Loveable Dork one of those people that are just too adorable and clueless that it's hard not to like him. Loveable Dork doesn't really care what other people think of him, it's too much work worrying about what others think, while not always confident Loveable Dork always puts on a good show to hide if he's really hurting or upset. . .he doesn't want unneeded attention focused on him when people weren't laughing at what he said. Loveable Dork has been best friends with Mary since they were in diapers, she feels more like a sister to him most of the time and a friend for life. . .but he thinks of her strictly as a friend for now, little does he know that she has a crush on him. Loveable Dork was recently caught up in Alexandria charm and in the end wound up with a broken heart and ran to his friends Rachel, Jess and Andrew for help, but being caught in the middle of all these relationships and drama between his other friends, he hasn't exactly gotten over all of this and been neglected at times when he needed his friends most. However, Loveable Dork puts on a face that makes it seem like everything is alright and nothing is bothering him so his friends don't feel guilty when they come to him with their problems.

Once again i'm going to be thorough here so there's no confusion. . .hopefully. Now I know I touched on some of the relationships in each character description but this is to make things simpler and easy to understand. There are the current relations, and then of course there will be future ones after the New York kids run into the South Carolina kids. Now I won't be posting the future relationships until things get moving but for now present ones are good for now. However, just because i said your character likes another doesn't mean they can't develop feelings for another or is completely turned off to the other person for some reason. I mean if you get with the person you like right away and things are blossoming then it kind of kills the thread, which is a no no. So we need love triangles, you belong with me, rejection, changed minds, indecision on who likes who, friendships either made or broken, interferance, cheating, lies, one night stands, people changing due to this experience, devistation and all around DRAMA!! I mean what is a roleplay without romance drama or drama anyway? Exactly my point.
