Mikasa awoke, groaning and moaning. A single beam of light shining through her window woke her up, and she felt she wasn't ready to get out of bed. Many minutes of struggling to hide her face from the sun, groans, and mini hissy fits, Mikasa finally got out of bed. She was clearly unhappy to be doing so. She dragged her body to her clothes, grabbing a black tshirt and a pair of jeans. She dragged her body to the bathroom door, kicking it until she got to go in for her shower, making an attempt to wake herself up.

After her shower, she dressed herself and did her regular morning crap. She soon found herself in the living room, puffing on a cigarette. She was still half asleep. Her mind was plagued with thoughts of her father. She did miss him, but she had no choice but to move on. There was nothing she could do to bring him back now. Mikasa put on the biggest smile she could manage, and headed into the kitchen, and began making breakfast for her family members. She knew her mum wouldn't be moving very far, as she had just lost her husband. A hour later, the island in their kitchen was filled with food "COME AND GET IT!" Mikasa shouted, calling everyone to the kitchen to make up their plates. As they did their thing, she turned to start washing the dishes she had just dirtied to make the breakfast, with a cigarette hanging from between her lips as she did so. She may have been the youngest, and adopted, but she was probably the only person willing to accept their fathers death. It was a part of life, and it hurt, bad, but she had no choice but to hold her head up. Even after his death, she wanted to make him proud. She wanted to be blood. She wanted to be a real daughter, a real sister, not just a white woman who lived with them her entire life.

Yoru was sleeping soundly in her bed, in her dark room. She was curled up on her side, under the heavy black and crimson blanket, avoiding the sunlight. She had mastered the art of hiding-from the-vicious-morning-sunlight so it doesn't wake her. But there was one thing she could never master was... "COME AND GET IT!" was heard through her door. Was mastering the art of Morning-bird-of-a-loud-sister... Yoru loved Mikasa, not so much for her volume control however. Ever since her father brought her home, Yoru loved that little girl to no end. It was about ******** time that they had brought in a little sister for Yoru! She liked being one of the guys, but even a girl needs a girly moment besides her mother. But it wasn't always pretty in pink kind of things. They liked the darker kind of things too.

Yoru turned on her back and sighed, giving up the hard fight. Ever since their father died, she has gotten into more fights and eating less foods. Smelling the food from the kitchen, her stomach roared at the girl. "God damn, I know, I know..." She looked down at her sassy stomach, patting it. She huffed and sat up, leaving her hair a mess, in black and grey pj shorts and a In This Moment men sized t-shirt. The hungry girl found her way downstairs and into the kitchen, bare foot. She looked over at her little adopted sister and said, "Good morning, loud mouth," She teased smiling a bit at her. She looked at all the food and the table set. Yoru walked over to counter while Mikasa did the dishes. She raised her eyebrow and said, "What the hell do you think you're doing, Mikasa? You cooked breakfast, I'll do the dishes, now go sit and eat the wonderful food you made us." She grabbed the side of the girls head and kissed it, before using her hips to bump her away. "Hah, I win," She gave her a sly grin while wiggling her butt. She picked up on the dishes where she left off and looked over at Mikasa. "Hey, thanks for breakfast, tiny. How are you feeling?" Yoru gave her a worried look.

The sounds of pounding were loud in the small room in the lower basement. A small training room that was made from most of the old basement. This was Liam's world, where he slept, ate, and took care of himself. He rarely went upstairs anymore unless it was to go to school, or work. Sweat poured off his brow and his body as he kept pounding the punching bag like a madman. He had a major ticket in a few days that could land him in the Japanese UFC. The night was over by now and the sun was poking out of his small windows that lined his wall before the cut off into the roof. The lights looked very good against the still fairly shadowed room, Liam decided that it was time to stop for now, he needed to shower and eat. Summer days were always lazy for the family thankfully school would be starting up. He walked over to the wall and grabbed his towel. He stripped down and wrapped himself up inside his towel. He wondered how many others of his family were up and about. He hoped they were all up and good. He had been slacking in his duties of being an adult role model. "I guess today would be a good day to be with family..."

He arrived upstairs just in time to hear his adopted sister screaming for everyone to 'Come and get it', she was a sweet girl who tried to hard sometimes. She always thought of herself as a Gaijin, which was foolish, he loved her just because she was always so thoughtful of the family. In fact, he was probably the outsider here more then her. "I will be there in a little while sis." He had been working on his English since he was eight years old. MMA had helped him seeing as he was not even stationed in Japan for his MMA. He fights out of Melbourne, Australia. For his training he bounced back and fourth from Japan and there. He was still in only his towel but continued to the hot spring in their backyard. He had no shame so going out in only his towel was nothing to him. After all, it was only his family and his families old friends and neighbors around.

He stood outside for a minute and admired the still orange sky, it was beautiful outside today, as it was most days. It is a shame that with all the color that is in the world and all of its beauty, everything had a dark shadow for him. He was always able to see the shadows in the world, most of the time it was a gray background that flooded his world. He had been working on it. He had been seeing counselors, taking medicine and trying healthy ways of keeping himself busy, but nothing seemed to be working. What was he doing wrong? Why did it always seem so hopeless? Why could he never do anything right? He finally decided to take off his towel and sink into the spring water. He swam to the other side and waded for a while before grabbing his soap that he kept hidden in a bush nearby. After his bath he stood up and grabbed his towel and walked inside. "So what did I miss?"

xxxxxJames hadn't slept that night. He avoided sleeping because he needed to avoid dreaming, avoid the inevitable, avoid coming to terms with the fact that his father was most definitely not coming back. James didn't want to believe it, even though, deep in his mind he knew that it was true. But he avoided thinking about the truth, and decided that it was just an inconvenient fact of life. James turned on his side, and saw that the sun was rising outside, the sky lightening, the world coming alive. He pulled his blanket over his head and closed his eyes for the next hour, but he didn't get any sleep.

When James heard Mikasa calling them down for breakfast, he turned onto his other side and looked at the door. He could get up and get breakfast, but that would meaning having to see his sibling and his father's stuff and all of the things in the house that could bring back even the slightest memory of his father. But if he didn't go downstairs, any one of his siblings would come up and try to get him to talk, probably. It would be better if he just went down and pretended like everything was fine. After a long moment, James rolled out of bed, put on a pair of sweats and a sweater (it didn't matter what season it was, James was always cold), and trudged downstairs to the kitchen, where he heard his sisters talking. He didn't want to interrupt them, but he also wanted to know what they were talking about, so he peaked his head in and leaned against the door frame, making his presence known. James wasn't exactly hungry, but then again, he was pretty sure that none of them were. Who would be?

James must have missed Liam at some point, because before James knew it, he was coming in from the backyard. Liam was the oldest of all of them, and basically the role model that James looked up to. They were sort of similar, in a way, because Liam wasn't the greatest at English, and James often missed the boat entirely. Actually, James spoke English very well, but with his dyslexia, it was hard to read and write most of the time. But Liam was a very passionate fighter, and while James was more of a pacifist, he admired his brother for working hard to get where he was today. Liam must not have noticed James either, so after a moment, James stepped out from the doorway and into the kitchen. "
                                            Mornin' everyone."

User Image xxxxxIf his sister Yuuki was an early riser, Isamu Mori was the exact opposite of her. Isamu was a late sleeper, and he had been since the moment he was born. When he came out of the womb, he was probably sleeping, he assumed. In fact, he'd slept in late so often, that it was a wonder that he wasn't late to school more often. Well, actually, it wasn't a wonder, it was the Yuuki factor. Perhaps it wasn't her waking him up everyday directly, but it was little things, like a stern knock at the door, or a noise that deep in his consciousness, from within his room, with the door shut, he understood that it was time for him to get up and go to school. What Isamu liked about the summer was the he could sleep in as long as he wanted and he never stuffed any consequences. He was never late to school because he didn't have any (except for cram school, but that wasn't until late in the afternoon, so there was no risk of him sleeping until 11 o'clock). For a while, though, sleep had come less than easy.

xxxxxSince the death of the Nasukawa father, a close family friend, (the whole family was their friend. They were basically one family,) things had been going less than perfectly. Isamu knew that James was going through a particularly hard time at the moment, and often felt guilty for being able to sleep well at night. Especially when he knew that James hardly slept at all anymore. They were bros. Certainly the closest person to Isamu was James; they'd know each other so long and so well that it seemed that James was even closer to Isamu than his own sibling, but then the line between sibling and neighbor had been blurred for a long time. Isamu knew everything about James, and vice versa. James' pills for his ADHD often became the pills that Isamu used as a pick-me-up. They helped him concentrate. But things were weird now. James was very withdrawn, the whole family was, and Isamu didn't really know what to do about that. He wanted to help, but he didn't want to impose.

xxxxxWhen Isamu heard a knock on his door, he knew that it was Yuuki. Not because of a supernatural force inside of her, but because she always made breakfast, and he was always the first person down. The one thing that he liked more than sleeping was food, as per typical teenage boy. Isamu rolled out of bed ungracefully, landing on the floor with a great thump that probably woke the whole house, and, still clad in his pajamas, made his way to the kitchen. The food smelled great. The food always smelled great. The food was always great, everything about it was great. Isamu turned into the kitchen to see his younger sister Yuuki seated at the table. He put his hand to his heart in fake shock, as he did most days. "Oy, Yuuki, sitting there, just like always. Sometimes I think that one day, when I go away to college and I come back, I'll get up in the morning to get some water and you'll be sitting there." Isamu shrugged at the idea, which seemed less than probable. He also made that joke at least twice a month, and so it was rather old. It was still funny though. " How's your morning going?"
