Changing out of his sleepwear and into a plain black shirt and pants. When the fire was raging, he wore the first thing that his hands to reach, just wanting to get out of the room. Pulling on socks and his shoes, he grabbed his book bag and started towards the cafeteria. People gave him frightened looks as he walked down the halls, when he attempted to smile they shook in their shoes. He didn’t think he had ever threatened another student in the school, but they still didn’t seem to think he was harmless. Reaching the room that everyone in the school loved, even if the didn’t love crowds, he got in line to get his food. He could see the cooks doing their best to keep up with the amount of students at the school. He didn’t envy their jobs. Though he couldn’t say he was happy with the ending that he was born into. When he was just a baby his mother began telling stories of her rule, and the wonders of being a queen. She would go on about how Snow White was a pathetic girl, and that if it weren’t for a foolish mistake; she would have gotten away with her plan. He was to follow in his mother’s footsteps, be the next queen, or rather king, to poison Snow White, before dancing himself to death. His mother told him the pleasures of being a queen, and being able to stare at yourself all day long, but that’s not how Eden saw it.
It wasn’t that he had poor self-esteem, he thought himself rather attractive, but he didn't sit in front of a mirror to gaze at his reflection for hours on end. He used the glass to fix his hair or check to see that his outfit worked together, but he didn’t see the point of becoming obsessed with his appearance. That was what he wanted someone else to do, to tell him that they thought he was beautiful, not to worry about being the most beautiful person in all of Ever After.
Realizing it was his turn to pick up food, he stepped forward and took two pieces of French toast and a parfait. Smiling to one of the cooks, he said, “Thank you for making this food.” The much older woman looked up with a smile on her face, about to say that she was welcome, but when she saw Eden looking back at her, her eyes widened and she looked back down to her work. He should have gotten used to that as well, people didn’t seem to like him thanking them or even talking to them. He took his food and walked away from the woman. There was no point in standing around hoping to explain himself. There were some people who would never understand that he didn’t want to be evil. That he didn’t feel evil. They would see his name, and hear of his mother and run as fast as they could for the hills.
Stepping into the seating area of the cafeteria, it was the one place that people didn’t freak out when he stepped into it. Though, it was mainly because they were all too focused on eating their food. He looked around to find a table that was empty, but most had someone sitting at them. He debated taking a seat with the frog prince’s son, but the last time that he had tried to talk to the boy, he’d turned into a frog and gone missing for two days. Eden didn’t know if he could ever approach the male again without giving him a heart attack. Deciding not to stay in the cafeteria, he walked out towards the courtyard. It was open for eating, and there were tables, but people tended to prefer the cafeteria, were they could catch up with their friends, as those tables were larger. Taking a seat, he put his food down and began to poke at it. The following day was legacy day, and he was supposed to know what he wanted to do with his future. His mother had always egged him on to follow his destiny, not to mention that she would be there the following day, staring him down as he took his oath. He didn’t know if he could handle getting up in front of her and telling everyone that he didn’t want to be like her. That he didn’t think his mother was right in her ruling. He assumed she would disown him, and that she would threaten to kill him like that Queen of Heart’s daughter who always wanted his head to be chopped off.
Shaking his head, he did his best to keep his mind from getting too caught up in the terror of his legacy. Instead, he took out his iMirror and ran down his contacts. He didn’t have many contacts, as most people didn’t want to engage in conversation with him. However, there were some, even royals, who didn’t completely seem to mind his company. The first that came to mind was Hazel Darling. Clicking her name, he filmed himself, “Hazel, darling, get it? Anyways, I’m out in the courtyard by myself, come give me entertainment?” He stopped recording and sent the message to his friend. She was never the world’s greatest morning person, but he didn’t mind seeing her slightly less than perfect side. He believed that all of the students at the school had one, but most of the royals were to frightened to show theirs. He had always thought that his evil side was what people hated about him, but when he had talked to one of the royals about not wanting to follow his mother’s footsteps, well they seemed horrified that he would even dare go against his destiny.
Picking up his spoon, he dipped it into the fruit and yogurt in his parfait. He could hear students making their way around the school; some were probably finished with their morning meal. “Have you heard about the True Heart’s Day dance? I hope that someone asks me to go with them.” Eden had heard about the dance from some of his friends, and he was planning on going to the dance. Though, he was worried that people wouldn’t like that he was attending the dance. He just wanted something to keep his mind off the legacy day that would follow.
[ooc; his message was basically just like a snapchat.]
