dorm room x tricky x ingolf x wearing
And he gave her head to Athena, so that she may create a shield feared by all monsters.” Rolling onto his side, Wolfgang Stone stopped the recording of his mother’s storytelling. The day before he moved to Ever After High during his first year, his mother recorded her bedtime stories. Though he would never admit it aloud, he listened to them every night before he fell asleep. Usually choosing his favorite story that of Pandora, knowing that she created pain for mortals. Though, after meeting her daughter he was not positive the story would remain the same after the following school year. However, on this morning, he couldn’t get his mind off his own mother’s story. Medusa, the ‘beast’, was created from lustful, angry gods, Poseidon who could not keep his hands off his mother, and Athena, angered by the act of seduction in her temple. Not to mention, Perseus who came with the help of Athena and Hermes and slayed his mother took her head for his own benefit.

The following day, Wolfgang would stand before his fellow students and announce his plans to follow in his mother’s footsteps. There were rumors going around that some students were planning on going against their destiny, but Wolfgang was positive he would follow his mother. Despite her requests for him to leave her past as hers, and create his own, he planned to gain her power to turn mortals to stone. Despite the fate of death, he would teach those who ventured far enough to reach him, about his mother and the dishonesty of the gods. Teach them, and if they cared none for his story, he would turn them to stone.

Pushing against the back of the barber’s chair, Wolfgang picked up a brush and pulled it through his hair. He was restless, not sleeping the entire night, but he didn’t wish to bother his best friend and roommate, Ingolf. So he left their dorm and ventured out to Village of Book End, and to the Fairest Hair Salon, where he had worked for the last three years. There he sat, contemplating his future, and all that the following day would bring. He’d thought of the devotion he would have for the goddess Athena, who would turn her back on him. Thought of the disgusting man, Poseidon, who would attempt to take advantage of him, and would lead to his curse.

Now that morning was breaking, he would have to face the day, and attend his classes. Though he would rather stay at the salon and work, headmaster Grimm would know exactly where to find him. First, it was back to his dorm room to change out of the clothes he’d changed into the night before. Though he didn’t mind wearing the same clothes, he knew someone would bother him about what he was wearing. There were plenty of materialistic students in their school, but what did he expect from the children of fairytale princesses and princes?

Exiting through the back of the shop, he locked the door behind him, and started towards the school. They weren’t allowed to leave the school after curfew, so he would have to sneak back into the school as he had left it. Going to the back, he began to climb up the vines growing up to the dark tower. It was helpful that the grounds master didn’t care to keep up the dark tower’s appearance; in fact, he’d never seen the man approach the area. Climbing into the hallway, there were yet to be any signs of life in the tower. Reaching the Blizzard dorm, he opened the door, and slipped in.

He was grateful to see that it hadn’t stormed that night, while he was gone. There was no saying when the room wanted to unleash its power. Often in the most annoying of times, such as the weekend before finals. The two would have to disappear into other sections of the school in order to study with peace of mind. It was also the reason that Wolfgang had ten extra blankets beside his bed, in case he woke covered in snow.

Noticing a piece of paper just inside of the door, he picked it up and read it. It was an invitation to the True Heart’s Day celebration that would take place that evening. Everyone had been talking about it, and he was rather surprised to find that the headmaster still did not know of it. People had brought it up to him on different occasions, but he decided against going. He didn’t want to waste his time with a idiotic dance when he had the Legacy Day to worry about. Not to mention that a certain someone would probably be at the dance, and Sullivan Agros was the last person he wanted to see.

Opening his dresser, he picked up the first shirt and pair of black pants that he found, changing in the bathroom. Noticing the statement his shirt made, he huffed, “Ironic,” he said, leaving the bathroom, and finding Ingolf still asleep in his bed. The boy never seemed to wake in time to get to the cafeteria before it was filled with students, the way Wolfgang preferred it. Making his way towards his desk, he glanced down to the small creature inside of its cage. “Want to have some fun, Poco?” Opening the cage, he picked up his prickly pet.

After the first semester of his sophomore year, he found Ingolf’s soft spot, animals. When he went home for the holidays, he asked for a pet that he could take back to the school. His mother responded to his request by buying him a pet hedgehog. Now he used it to soften his friend, before forcing him to be his test subject for new hairstyles. Some might say it was blackmail, but they would not know the horror that could be Ingolf. Wolfgang had seen the terror that the boy had caused on students. Not to mention the fact that he was not the most social man alive. Though, Wolfgang knew he was kind, deep down.

Grabbing his glasses, he didn’t want to freeze his friend when he woke. Placing them on his face, he walked over to Ingolf’s bed, and lifted the bottom of the sheets. Putting the hedgehog down he held up the sheets so that his dear pet did not get stuck. “Quest, wake Ingolf, in action.” He said to the hedgehog, before nodding towards him, the hedgehog didn’t seem to pay attention.

Eugenia Duckett, known fondly as 'Ducky' by her friends and not-so-fondly as "Ugly Duckett" by most everyone else, woke up in a panic. She didn't hear the birds chirping outside as she normally did, it was probably because she was up late working on an assignment for her Crownculous class that she found particularly difficult, which was strange because it was one of her stronger subjects. Going to bed late led to waking up late, so on this particular morning Ducky found herself rolling out of bed rather violently, getting tangled in her sheets as she tried to scramble to her feet. "Kat? Kat, are you awake?" she called to her roommate, who also happened to be her very best friend as she shoved a pile of sheets back on her bed.

She hadn't woken up too late, she found as she tapped the screen of her MirrorPad to check the time, holding it right up to her face so that she could read it. Ducky had not seen her glasses in three days, which meant she'd have to make a call home to her father so that he could send a replacement pair. Still in a bit of a groggy haze, the young girl pulled herself into the bathroom and closed the door behind her as her mouth stretched in a yawn. Her reflection wasn't entirely clear, but she could tell that her hair was beyond control, teased and unbearably fluffy from a night of shifting about in her sleep. As she did every morning, she wondered if wetting it down in the shower would do the trick.

After fumbling through a quick shower, Ducky stepped out of the bathroom smelling fresh as a daisy, though her hair decided it was going to do it's own thing anyway. She left her hair to dry as she sought out an outfit for the day. Ducky had a lot of clothes, because she had a habit of buying pieces she liked simply because she liked them. That didn't mean her outfits came out nice, though, while each article of clothing was flattering on it's own, she couldn't seem to pair up the right things to make a flattering outfit for herself. She looked like she got dressed in the dark, all the time. Today was no exception as she donned a skirt and shirt with clashing patterns, covering up the worst of it with a sweater that was far to big for her frame, and then pulled on tennis shoes, because that made sense for whatever reason. Give Ducky another person to dress and they would look fabulous, but have her stand in front of a small selection of clothes and she'll pick the ugliest pieces to wear, every time.

She nearly tripped over her skirt as she hurried to see what her hair decided to do, and let out a small squeak of shock when she found that it was looking particularly wild this morning. So Ducky did what she could and piled it into a bun, which didn't put up much of a fight since stray wisps of hair framed her face anyway and the bun itself just kind of fell to the side, she couldn't see as much, so it wasn't that big of a deal. She grabbed the first necklace and pair of earrings she saw (because by this point she didn't really care if they matched or not) and gathered up her supplies for class, her MirrorPad, and room key before hurrying out of the room "Find me at breakfast if you're still here, Kat!" she called frantically as she juggled her things in her arms while she closed the door behind her. A scrap of paper fell as she opened the door, she picked it up off the corridor floor and tucked it in with her belongings, thinking it might be one of her assignments before rushing off to breakfast.

Ducky so wasn't a morning person.

Unlike the princesses of the school, who could roll out of bed with their hair and makeup already done, Ducky was lucky if she even remembered to brush her hair in the mornings. She stifled a yawn with her hand as she hurried down the tower, her stomach complaining that it hadn't had it's morning meal yet. She had to be very careful on the stairs, especially with her glasses missing, one misstep and people would be calling her Humpty Dumpty, rather than Ugly Duckling (which actually could have been an improvement...) When she finally reached the base of the tower, she quickened her pace, mostly because she was famished, but also because it was at the base of the dormitory tower that she faced the most ridicule. "Good... Morning." she mumbled, squinting at the group of young women blocking her way, "Step aside girls, Ugly Duckett coming through!" one called out, and they parted for her. She shuffled past, remaining silent as they laughed. She wished she could have thought of some witty retort, but Ducky knew that even if she did, it would come hours too late, so she kept her mouth shut tight and hurried along.

Ducky was used to this, ever since her first year at Ever After High, she wasn't sure if it was because she was destined to be the next Ugly Duckling, or if the other girls just didn't like things they weren't familiar with, but they definitely made sure Ducky knew where she belonged. She got used to it, and she met Kat, so she wasn't so lonely, but that didn't make their jeers any easier to tolerate. She just kept her head down, it was the easiest way for her to get through it all, the less attention she attracted, the better.

Ducky felt her heart sink when she found that the cafeteria was already flooded with students, she liked to try and beat the rush so that she could get a seat without having to watch people get up and move so as to not be seen with her. Today would not be one of those days, though. Carefully, she stacked a tray on top of her books, browsing the selection they had to offer this morning, she opted for porridge with fruit and some juice, easy to stomach so early and it suited her food preferences. Ducky didn't really eat meat, something about doing so felt wrong to her, so she ate just about anything but. As she had guessed, as soon as she found a vacant seat at a table, the rest of the students already seated there got up and scattered. She took a deep breath and told herself it was just something she had to get used to, and that Kat would be around soon enough, so she had no reason to get upset.

That didn't really stop her from feeling upset.

Instead of moping, she started in on her breakfast, picking the berries off the top of her porridge to eat first, as she usually did. Ducky pulled her assignments from her clutter of belongings and thought she might as well go over them, even if she couldn't see them too well. After a few pages of Crownculous work, she found a piece of parchment that didn't look like classwork, but rather an invitation, and to a dance at that. "True Heart's...Day?" she mumbled slowly as she brought the paper closer to her face to read. It was some kind of party being held at the Looking Glass Dance Club, she felt like she had heard about it, or overheard something about it, people didn't tell her about parties, and the invitation was probably for Kat, she realized after inspecting it for a long moment. With another sigh of resignation, she tucked the flyer away, making a mental note to show it to Kat when she arrived.

Ducky returned to reviewing her homework, holding it so close to her face that the tip of her nose almost touched the page, while she absentmindedly grazed on her breakfast, building her little bubble like she always did. If she didn't bother others, they wouldn't bother her, she had mastered making herself invisible despite wearing atrocious outfits and not actually having the ability to make herself, well, invisible. Ducky was one of the rare few around campus that didn't want to be noticed, and she found that if she made herself very small and didn't speak much, no one noticed her at all.

                                                Ducky liked being 'invisible'.

ooc; ducky isn't having a good morning... anyway! her crazy clothes are linked to the graphic~

The only time that Ava Heros ever allowed her to indulge in the pain of the death of her parents was in her sleep. Like so many of the children of Gods and fairy-tale characters that attended Ever After, Ava was haunted by her parents' past. That it was going to becoming her future should she not find a way to prevent it rattled her to her core almost every night. She rarely spoke about her parents to her peers, only with Dashiell, a junior and member of her extended family by technical terms, had she ever really discussed them; she hated the idea of people taking pity on her. She was glad that she didn't talk in her sleep, otherwise her sixteen year old roommate, Piper, probably would have requested a room change by this point. It was eight in the morning and Ava had been laying awake, recovering from her nightmare for a half hour.

She had woken up with her heart throwing itself against her rib-cage, her body drenched in nervous sweat and tears burning her light hazel eyes. She resented herself for being so emotionally invested in a dream. But was it really a dream if it reflected events that had past and were destined to repeat themselves? She always woke up at the same point, her eleven year old self arriving home to find her parents' bloodied bodies in the kitchen. She woke up just before she vomited, she knew that it was coming because it had all happened before. It was more a memory than a nightmare, really. A memory and a preview both at once: she knew that if she didn't find a way around it, her own life would end at the tip of a bloodied sword. Ava knew that she wasn't the only student hell bent on avoiding their destiny, she suspected the number was actually quite high. If there was one thing about Ever After High she detested, it was the fact that the school was adamant that students follow in the footsteps of their parents. Sure, for people whose parents' stories ended with "and they lived happily ever after", everything was going to turn out just dandy. But not everyone was so lucky, there were people who, from the day they were born, were destined to die painful, unjust deaths or kill people they didn't want to. In some cases, people they loved more than anyone else would be the ones to betray them, or the ones to be betrayed. It didn't exactly seem fair to the daughter of the mighty hero Heracles and his equally beautiful and intelligent wife Megara. With legacy day growing nearer and nearer for the senior, destinies, her parents and her future had been weighing more heavily on her mind than ever before.

She didn't like it, not one bit. She wanted to forget about the whole thing and so, she forced herself to move from the bed and begin her day as she normally would. She knew that Piper was still in bed and she assumed that her roommate was fast asleep. That suited Ava just fine, she was able to compose herself without distraction. She slid out from under the covers and made her way to their adjoining bathroom, ready to wash off the salt of her tears and sweat. When she emerged from the shower, she felt new again and was able to concentrate on the day ahead; if there was one place to find distractions, it was the chaos of Ever After High. She dressed in the bathroom; her jeans were hugged her legs and were of a dark wash. She wore a cropped button down shirt, which she would probably be reprimanded for, and covered up with a structured but soft cardigan. Once she was dressed, she went about applying some makeup. She knew that fairy-tale characters were meant to be naturally, impeccably good looking, but Ava was a realist. She didn't believe for one second that Snow White's flushed lips and cheeks were achieved without a little assistance from cosmetics. More than anything though, Ava enjoyed the process of applying makeup. She dried her hair and let it fall naturally around her shoulders in auburn-brown cascades as they always did and exited the bathroom. She quietly collected her things for the day and shoved them into a backpack before locating her shoes, slipping them on and heading out the door. "Piper, I'm going to breakfast." She told her roommate, stopping just short of telling the girl she should probably get up soon, she was sure that she would. Once she closed the door behind her, she pulled out her iMirror and started down the hall, sending a message to Verona as she went

tab tab hey babeface, you at breakfast?

On her way over to the food-hall, Ava spotted Eugenia from a distance but the girl was moving too fast for her to catch up. She was hard to miss, shuffling along, head down and her outfit(probably unintentionally) eye catching. Ava smiled until she had heard the girls making fun of her. She shot them a glare as she walked past soon after Ducky had. "Because you're all such oil paintings," she said, her brow raised as she continued walking. They weren't even the daughters of princesses or princes, they looked more like the offspring of The Horned King so Ava didn't exactly know where they got off making fun of Ducky. When she finally did reach the cafeteria, Ava spotted Ducky already sitting down at a table by herself. She was trying to hide herself away, but Ava saw her. The tall, slender girl slid into the line and picked up a fruit salad, toast and come tea before making her way over to join her friend. The girl was a junior, but that didn't really deter Ava from being friends with her and it certainly didn't make her want to sit at a different table. "Found you," she said jokingly, referring to the fact that while Ducky clearly didn't want to be found, Ava was going to join her. She sat down next to her friend, placing her bag on the free chair beside her.

"What's this?" She asked, tapping the book that Ducky was barricading herself with. Honestly, Ava didn't understand why the girl was so shy. She understood that she didn't want to draw attention to herself, but Ava couldn't for the life of her figure out why. Maybe it was because Ava put no value on the whole destiny bullshit, while Ducky seemed to be a firm believer. Of all the tales and destinies under the roof of Ever After High, some might have considered Ava's to be among the most tragic. However, when the auburn haired eighteen year old pushed her own tale to the back of her mind, Ducky's seemed to be the cruelest; teenage girls, mortal or otherwise, could be brutal and Ducky had to go through all that to reach her destiny if she wanted it.

Ava had seen Ducky tuck an all too familiar looking piece of paper away in her book just as she had sat down. There was no doubt in the senior's mind that it was an invitation to the ridiculous True Hearts Day party. Ava had found one tucked inside her Elfish textbook the evening before and she had promptly disposed of it. It was such a silly concept to Ava, she got the whole 'not following one's destiny' part - but declaring undying love to someone? In public no less? It didn't sound like a good time, even if it was a forbidden party. "Please don't tell me you're going to that charade," Ava said, filling the silence as she spoke, not to Ducky, but to the cover of the book that remained in front of her friend's face. If there was one thing that everyone knew Ava was not a fan of, it was romantic love; because in her mind, it always lead to disaster. Even before she had learned of the tradition of following in one's parent's footsteps, Ava had closed her heart off to the idea of falling into romantic enthrallment. It spelled danger and unwanted pain of both the physical and emotional kind. It was much easier to avoid developing such attachments to people and focusing on the carnal desires that lay within. Still, perhaps the event could be fun, if for nothing else than a laugh. Plus, she had always been a fan of breaking rules where she could and sneaking out after curfew was a pastime Ava held very dear. She used a fork to spear a piece of fruit and bit into it, winking at the son of Pocahontas who walked by before turning to face Ducky, awaiting a response.

With Ever After High in her sights, Katerina Gold pushed herself to continue running. When she first began working out, she thought that it would get easier, but somehow it became more painful. If she wasn’t able to motivate herself enough, she would simply give up on her daily routine, but it being her legacy year, and the day before legacy day, she was able to keep up the workout. Picking up her feet, she kept her eyes peeled on the school. That was how her mother taught her to look at life, always look up and forward. She believed that even when things got difficult, if you were able to keep your head up, you would make it through any troubles. The only problem with this concept was that it meant Katerina was not looking at the ground in front of her, specifically the gravel. Hitting her foot wrong, she slipped down against the hard ground. Pieces of gravel scratched against her legs. Rolling onto her side, she pulled her legs up to inspect the damage. “Hex-ellent, just hex-ellent,” she sighed, frustrated with her lack of attention to her surroundings. Forcing herself up, she began to walk off the ache pulsing through her leg. Luckily, it was about this time that she would be starting her cool down anyways.

It didn’t take long for her legs to shake off the pain, and return to the tense muscles that they were before. It was about the same time that she reached the entrance into the school. Opening the front door, she stepped into the front hall, finding plenty of students running around. She wondered if her roommate, Eugenia Duckett, was one of those people, but as she looked around she couldn’t find the girl. Walking through the halls, people waved to her, knowing that she would respond with a wave back to them. She was known for her kindness around the school, at least that’s what her classmates said. That if they had to think of her with one word, it would be kind. Though there were plenty of students who wanted to be perfect, or gorgeous, but Katerina was perfectly content with kind.

Reaching the dorm room with the nameplate, “Katerina Gold & Eugenia Duckett” written on it, she stepped into the room. Turning to her roommate’s side of the room, she could tell that she had already left the room. Her bed was in a bit of a messy state, but Katerina didn’t mind. She knew full well that her roommate had been up late doing homework for her classes. Katerina didn’t know anyone as dedicated to his or her schooling. Though, most were simply excited to know that they would be following in their parent’s footsteps within years.

She opened her closet door, searching for something to wear. She often wore dresses, in fact her closet was mostly filled with them, but it was also a special day. True Heart’s Day had not been celebrated for years; apparently it led students not to follow their own destinies. However, the students had put together a secret party that would occur later that night, Katerina had helped all that she could with the preparations. She always enjoyed a good party, seeing everyone happy and enjoying themselves. It was a hard choice on what she should wear, but eventually she picked a red dress with a white, lace over shirt attached, and a black band around the waist. Taking it to the bathroom, she quickly pulled off her running clothes and turned on the shower. It didn’t take long for the water to heat up, and she stepped into the bath, feeling the heat hit her muscles they instantly loosened.

The shower was rather fast, as she wanted to get her day started, and as she finished she wrapped a towel around her body. Her dress was hanging up waiting for her on the towel rack. Drying off, she slipped into it, and hung her towel back up. Picking up the blow drier that she kept by the sink, she dried her hair, and began to braid it. It wasn’t that she disliked it being down, but she had a plan for it later that night. She would need it to be somewhat waved, and braids would do exactly that. Exiting the bathroom, she hurried towards her desk, picking up the ring her mother had bought her last summer; she slipped it onto her right ring finger. The last thing she needed to complete he outfit were her shoes that sat by the door. Finding her backpack, she lifted it onto her back and made her way to the door. Standing above her shoes, she had to decide exactly which ones would look best with her dress. It took her a minute to pick them, but she chose black, velvety heels.

Stepping out into the hallway, once more, she walked down the tower, and towards the cafeteria. There were plenty of students whispering about the dance later that night and the legacy day that would follow. The thought of the legacy excited Katerina as much as the other students in the school. She couldn’t wait to announce her decision to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Though she heard that there were some students who weren’t pleased with the idea of following their parents. From hearing stories, she could understand why the might dislike this, but if they didn’t they could disappear, their entire story could be wiped away, and then what would they do?

When she entered the cafeteria, she picked up a fruit parfait and bagel with strawberry cream cheese for breakfast. Making her way into the seating area, she searched for the table with the least amount of people at it. Though she hated to admit it that was the best way to find her best friend. When she sat down somewhere, people decided they didn’t want to sit there anymore and left. If only they would open up to Eugenia, they would understand how wonderful she was. She caught sight of Eugenia, and started towards the table. However, she was rather surprised to find her friend was not alone; Ava Heros was seated beside her.

Picking the seat on the other side of her friend, she let her bag fall to the ground as she began to put cream cheese on the bagel. She seemed to make it just in time to hear Ava comment some charade. Glancing down to what the daughter of Hercules was speaking about, she noticed the fliers that she helped put together for the dance. “Is there a problem if Genie decides to go? You know, just because you don’t think it will be fun doesn’t mean it won’t be fun for anyone. I think it will be a grand time.” She said, upset that Ava was being mean about the dance. “Genie, I had a wonderful idea, what if we pick each other’s outfits for the dance? And we could do up each other's hair. It will be fun, I promise. I'll get us some snacks and we can just have some girl's time before the dance.” She didn’t know if her friend’s curse would remain the same, but she wanted her friend to have a night where she felt beautiful and special. Not to mention that tomorrow would be her own day, as she was a senior and it was legacy year. She though that tonight could be a special time for her junior best friend.

By the way, have you called your father about your glasses? I have had my friends looking around for yours, but we don’t seem to be having any luck. I was really hoping that we would be able to find them for you.” She explained with a displeased look on her face. When she found out that Eugenia’s glasses were missing, she had, had a meeting with some of her other close friends to go on a search for the glasses. They had checked every classroom that Eugenia had classes in, but they had no luck. Katerina knew how much trouble her friend had when she was not wearing her glasses, and she felt bad for the girl. “Have you ever thought about contacts? They might be easier, since it’s harder to misplace them. Then again, I don’t think I could ever think about putting it on my eyeball.” Katerina shivered at the thought of it.

"How does one even ask another to attend a ridiculous event with said person?" Chester Shire's voice softly rang out of the tree outside his dorm. He turned his head, glancing around the bottom of the tree; the grounds keeper was constantly warning him about the dangers of being in that tree. Of course, the grounds keeper did not take into consideration that cats love climbing trees; it's in their blood. Or at least, it was in Chester's blood. Stretching his legs, he yawned, but refused to move. Chester could see the sun breaking into the glorious dark sky. What time was it? Must have been at least five in the morning, which meant Chester had been in the tree for at least two hours. Chester sighed; he still wasn't sure how to ask that special someone to tonight's True Heart's Day celebration.

Rolling his eyes, Chester decided to drop the topic. It's a stupid party anyways. It's just a bunch of princes, and princess' kids, so what fun could it be? He tried to rationalize the continuation of his anti-social behavior. But, it was fresh day, destined to be full of new pranks. A rustling sound a few yards south of the tree caught Chester's attention. A cat like grin graced his face; first victim of the day was always his favorite. This early in the morning could only mean one thing: the grounds keeper was awake, and ready to start his day. In seconds, Chester was invisible, and watching carefully watching his prey. The old man went around the tower to begin trimming weeds. Chester's face stretched as his grin widen. Quietly floating down, he grabbed a few tools that were left lying around, before quickly floating back up to his tree. Ches floated around the tower, checking on the grounds keeper, who was still busy at work. Floating back to the site where the rest of the tools lay, he snatched them, only to put them with the others. Slowly gaining visibility, Chester stood on the ground under the tree glancing up at his work. He could hear the grounds keeper making his way back towards him. "Good morning, have a swell day!" He smiled at the old man, before pointing up. He vanished quickly, before the keeper had a chance to give Ches detention. First victim was a win.

Finding himself in his room, Chester rummaged through his closet, grabbing whatever clean clothing he had. Fashion, unlike napping, wasn't a necessity in his life, especially when Chester is invisible most of the time. He sighed; even though his first prank of the morning was a success, Chester couldn't sway his earlier thoughts about True Heart's Day. Why can't I just write it in a note? That would make my life easier. Was there actually a rule about that? Maybe he would just take a chance..

                                                                                    To: Izzy
                                                                                    From: Ches
Message: Man, wake up. I have a question.
Is it okay to ask someone out in a letter?
Well, not out. Just to meet me at the thing tonight?
                                                                                    Like just to hang out.
                                                                                    Never mind. I'm not.

Chester glanced down at his iMirror, knowing that it was probably too early for Isaac to even be up. Honestly, Chester wouldn't even be up this early, but he could always take a nice nap during crownculous. Grinning a bit, he reached into a bin full of fancy parchment. 'Have a great day, beautiful. -Chester.' It was simple, sweet, to the point. Is it too simple? It would have to do; Ches was sure that a girl wouldn't like being asked out via parchment.

An alarm on his iMirror slowing began to sound. Was it eight o'clock already? He thanked the stars he had his own room currently; sharing a room with his sleep schedule could be a hassle. Chester yawned again; he could probably sleep through potions as well. Tucking the little note into his shirt pocket, Chester didn't even waste time standing up. He simply vanished from his room, reappearing at the entrance to the cafeteria. Greedily plopping food onto his tray, he quickly made his way through the line. He stood in front of the tables, attempting to find someone to sit with. "Where's Izzy?" He muttered, while trying to secretly stare at Ducky. Ducky looks extra ravishing today. He smiled, studying her quirky outfit. She may be shy, but he adored her sense of style. Or according to most, lack there of.

Being too busy secretly admiring Ducky, he didn't realize that she had company. It was ironic that the girl he had an enormous crush on was sitting with the girl he had a fling with. Of course this would happen to him. He shook his head slightly; he didn't think Ava would ever really mention it. Weaving through the crowd of spoiled brats, he made his way to Ducky's table. "Is this seat taken?" He asked, sitting down. Chester stayed quiet, while gorging on his food. Everyone was so interested in this True Heart's Day. It seemed like the topic wouldn't escape his mind. Mentally sighing as he took the last bite of his food, Chester studied the girls he was sitting by. Glancing at Ava, his stomach grumbled. He couldn't ever satisfy his morning hunger. He stuck his fork in her fruit salad, taking a rather large piece of watermelon. He smiled, rather catty, before shoving the fruit in his mouth.

"Excuse my intrusion, but I don't think this little party is necessarily a bad thing. I mean, we're still breaking the rules. I do believe the whole declaring one's undying love is a bit over the top." He spoke, glancing at Ducky, trying to read her emotions. Doing his best not to stare, Ches quickly glanced over at Katerina. He liked her, especially because she didn't really get upset when he pranked her. Of course, her motherly tendencies did make him laugh a bit.

Chester kept quiet as the subject changed; he wasn't really a social butterfly, although he tried. Ducky had lost her glasses? "If you want, Ducky, I can keep an eye out for them too. I can also ask Isaac to look around as well." He smiled genuinely at her; "I agree Katerina. I've read somewhere that bacteria can actually grow in the cleaner. Ironic." He scrunched his nose, indicating his disgust. "Plus, your glasses look cute, Ducky." He smiled, but feeling a light blush tickle his face, he quickly vanished from sight, only to reappear behind Ducky. "Here." He gently placed the little note in front of her, before disappearing.

He was tempted to wait around, secretly watching her reaction, but a part of him felt like that would be violating her privacy. Instead, he floated to his best friend's dorm. Quickly appearing, he began yelling. "ISAAC WAKE UP!" He wasn't sure if the boy was even in bed, but it was worth a try. "I gave her a note. C'mon, wake up." He lowered his voice, but by no means did that indicate a quiet level.

ooc; I finally was able to get a post out. I feel like I may have rambled, & I'm sorry. I'm so exhausted.

Morning need to not happen, according to Dashiell Aeides. As the child that grew up in the Underworld, he wasn't overly fond of brightness or sunlight. Pale as can be, with bright blue eyes, and black hair, Dash currently hid under his blankets. It was a rough night for him, as he harbored animal fugitives in his dorm room. Thankfully, his roommate was fine with Dash's tiny rescue squad, and had yet to give him grief about the creatures. Right now he was housing a Caladrius, which thankfully didn't avoid eye contact with him ensuring he was healthy, and an injured Wolpertinger. The Caladrius he assumed escaped from a nearby castle, as they were kept around for kings to cure sickness. But the Wolpertinger was obviously wild, but was badly hurt. When he found it, the little creature was bloody and stuck with thorns, and donning glasses. Dash cleaned it up, gently removed the thorns, and set aside the mystery glasses. He would release it back into the wild once it was healed, and find the owner of the glasses in the meantime. It had only been two nights since he found the Wolpertinger and he'd been more focused on tending to it than advertising the glasses.

His rough night only involved one of his animals being noisy, and it was all because of his mother and her lack of understanding time. She sent him several messages in the middle of the night on his iMirror which chimed and woke up the Wolpertinger. The poor creature was in pain when it woke up with a startle, and Dash had to shush it back to sleep, which also involved restitching one of the larger cuts on it's hind leg. His mother, while well intended with her messages, ruined Dash's evening. They weren't anything special, the messages. But she was worried since it had been a while since Dash communicated with either of his parents, especially her though. He just got caught up in school and work was all, but she was still a mom who had to assume the worst.

With it being the morning after his difficult night, Dash decided to stay in bed through breakfast and drag himself out just before potions class. He hated the class simply because he worked at a potions store, and already knew everything the class taught. He stupidly said this during his first week of class, expecting to be excused but instead their teacher declared he should get the best marks. That only made Dash try less in class, just to prove that he didn't care. Which in hindsight was only hurting him and his education, but he was sixteen and only cared about what got him instant gratification.

As a boy who grew up around death and spirits, Dash did not take to saying or even thinking about killing people lightly. He knew it was a big whoop to be dead, so he refrained from using phrases like 'I'm going to kill you' or 'please kill me.' But when he had a night like he did, and was trying to get some more sleep, and generally didn't like being disturbed, he harbored those rare thoughts. I'm going to kill them, he groaned as he shoved off the blankets. It took him a moment to realize he knew the voice on the other side of his door, which was asking for his roommate Izzy instead. Chester Shire was the reason he didn't get to complete his sleep, and Dash couldn't be annoyed anymore. Especially not at a friend, who was notorious for interrupting enjoyable and/or serene moments for others.

The room seemed to be clear of actual mist, though it was typically humid, and Dash sighed as he brought himself out of bed. He ensured that the cages for his creatures were under plastic covers, so's not to sprinkle them with lovely mist. Why their tower had cursed rooms was just plain biased. Because their own parents were villains, didn't mean they deserved to get crappy accommodations. If he were more pro-active, Dash would start a resistance of some sort with his fellow tower-mates, and tell Headmaster Grimm to fix their rooms. Dash grabbed his glasses from the nightstand, wiping them off of the evening's moisture, and slid them on before stepping over to the door. A distinct, soft crunch was heard when he got closer to the door and he felt he wasn't entirely on the carpet anymore. Looking down, he spotted a paper under his foot. Chester's banging could wait for another second as Dash bent down to pick it up.

He unlocked the chamber door and opened it for Chester. "You gave what to who now?" It didn't make sense to Dash, whatever Chester had been hollering about, though he only caught parts of it as he woke up groggy. Stepping away with the paper, Dash opened and read it. He blinked a couple of times behind his glasses, trying to focus on the letters that spelled out True Heart's Day. There was a secret dance on that evening, and it's suggested to ask someone you care about to the dance. This gave the tired Dashiell an idea. One his father wouldn't understand, as it involved asking a girl to spend time with him as opposed to kidnapping her. He'd have to wait on his idea though, because the Wolpertinger was whimpering behind him again. It didn't take well to sudden, loud noises, and Dash sighed, setting the paper on his bed, before removing the plastic covering on the cage. He opened the door and carefully reached in to pet the safe parts of the animal, "sorry, little guy." He apologized for Chester's behavior, and continued petting to calm the shivering creature down.

Ducky admittedly jumped a little when it was mentioned that she had been 'found', which wasn't always a good thing. When she peered over the top of her work, however, she saw that the person had a familiar look about them, and even without glasses she was able to identify the person joining her for breakfast, "Ava," she mumbled before ducking behind her Crownculous once again. Her friends certainly knew how to find her, that much was true, and Ava was wonderful. Ducky really admired her, especially with how terrible her destiny is supposed to be. Ava was strong, and not just physically, she couldn't stand up for herself without anyone's help, ducky could hardly say the same. Still, they got along for whatever reason, and she had a totally platonic girl crush on Ava, she was everything Ducky wished she was. Not that she'd go around admitting it, she felt bad knocking herself down in front of her friends, so she kept that sort of thing to herself a lot. Her guest settled in and then wondered what the purpose of her book was, "Crownculous camouflage," she announced as she set the book down and decided to pick at what was left of her breakfast instead, seeing no sense in hiding now that she had been found.

She was a little slow to understand what it was Ava had been referring to as a 'charade', but when things clicked, her face flushed. "N-no, I don't even think that was meant for me..." she fidgeted in her seat at the thought of going to the secret dance. If what she'd overheard was correct, the whole thing was a celebration of true love, "I-I don't have a nice outfit a-and I'm a terrible dancer and you actually need to have a true love for any of it to be worth it and-" she cut herself off, lips pursed and face bright red as she thought about the whole love aspect of this holiday that they were attempting to resurrect. It was no secret (to her friends) that Ducky was absolutely crazy about Chester Shire, the son of the Cheshire Cat... Except they weren't even on the same planet.

They had exactly one class together, Crownculous, and she could see where he worked from the hair salon in town (where she worked,) but she could not, for the life of her, speak to him. Whenever the opportunity presented itself, she would either hold her breath, stare, or give some unintelligible response that probably gave him the impression that she was not only unattractive, but impossibly slow as well. Chester was funny, though, and she adored his smile, both of them. He had this smile, one he obviously inherited from his father, which flashed when he was up to no good, and one that was obviously his own, charming and sweet and- Ducky suddenly realized she hadn't been breathing as she began to daydream about Chester and she gasped for air, slamming her hands down on the table as she did so. He wasn't even around and she held her breath, ugh, Ducky needed help. "Sorry," she offered sheepishly, staring down at her unfinished glass of juice as she caught her breath.

Then someone was using a nickname that almost no one used, save for her father and "Kat!" she exclaimed, leaning to the side to rest her head on her best friend's shoulder, "Were you out running?" she wondered, though obviously she had to have been, Kat always ran in the mornings, even though they had Grimm-nastics in the afternoon, Ducky wasn't athletic like Kat, or pretty, or graceful, or- She was doing it again, Ducky sat up straight and let Kat give her own opinion on the matter, "But I-" trying to explain that she really didn't see the point in going, especially since she wouldn't even know most of the people there, she wasn't exactly a fan-favorite at Ever After High. "I don't know..." she murmured at the prospect of having Kat doll her up for the dance, "I'd rather just dress you up," she started, Ducky loved dressing people up, and she especially liked picking out outfits for Kat. "we can still have the girl time, but I don't know if having someone else do my hair and stuff is going to change any of..." she made a vague gester at her self, "This." and offered an apologetic smile.

Ducky honestly had no clue if she'd look any better if someone else picked her clothes and did her makeup, and a part of her wanted to see how that would turn out, but there was always the chance that nothing changed, and she'd still be Ugly Duckett, but in a nicer dress. "I don't know, maybe?" she said finally, feeling bad if she were to shoot down the idea when Kat obviously meant well. For a moment, Ducky felt the topic might change, but yet another person joined their bunch and continued the conversation. Immediately, she recognized the voice and proceeded to stare down at her nearly empty bowl of porridge, "S-seat.... you..." she couldn't even look at him, let alone piece together a response, he sat down anyway. For a moment there was silence, he was eating, she was incapable of speech, and it was just kind of weird. She jumped a little as he suddenly, or not so suddenly, she wasn't too sure, began to voice his opinion on the whole 'True Heart's Day' nonsense. She nodded her head rigidly at the notion that declaring one's love seemed a bit excessive for a holiday before she tried to make herself even smaller. She knew she was blushing, she could feel her cheeks burning, and she was trying very hard to remember to breath but Chester was right there, she was going to explode.

Luckily there was soon a change in topic, which helped distract her a little from Chester's presence. She appreciated Kat's concern and shook her head, "I-I was hoping th-they might... turn up s-soon." she admitted in relation to putting off contacting her father. It was probably in her best interest to contact him, however, she really couldn't go around getting uncomfortably close to things to see them, it gave her a headache. Ducky squirmed in her seat, Kat was so nice for putting together a search party for her glasses, but she didn't have to, Ducky was used to losing them, it wasn't such a big deal. She was prepared to thank her roommate when Chester chimed in again, "Erm... You, no.... I... Okay." she squeaked awkwardly at the prospect of having him and Isaac join the search as well, even though she doubted Isaac Pan cared where her glasses were. Her heart fluttered a little when she thought, momentarily, that Chester actually cared enough about her to offer to help find her glasses, even though it wasn't a big deal, a lost cause, really.

Ducky then made the mistake of trying to steal a glance at Chester, right when he decided to smile. It wasn't the mischievous smile he pulled as he stole a piece of Ava's fruit, either. It was the real one, and she wanted to faint at the sight of it, but instead her eyes grew wide and she looked at Kat, simply because she wasn't Chester, plus she had more to say on the topic of her eyesight. "N-no..." she responded, though her and her father had talked about it before, but she didn't like the idea of intentionally putting something in her eye either, so she didn't really consider it much. Her hands kneaded the extra fabric of her sweater anxiously as she tried to raise her head up properly, so that she could at least look like a normal person if she wasn't going to speak like one. Leave it to Chester to completely throw her off, though, so instead she sat there staring at him, head cocked to the side, with a look of absolute puzzlement. "Wh-?" but then he was gone, and she sighed, and then she found herself jumping again as he reappeared, right behind her. Her spine tingled as she felt his presence, but found herself unable to move, or look at him, or do much of anything, so she just kept perfectly still as he set a piece of parchment down in front of her and disappeared once more. She found that she was holding her breath again, and gasped for air as she stared at the note Chester had left behind.

A very large part of Ducky was screaming at her to open it and read it, but a small part of her didn't want to know, assuming it was part of some elaborate prank he'd planned. The lesser part of her generally won on most occasions, but not this time. Hesitantly, she reached out for it, and found her hand shaking like a leaf. "What is this...?" she wondered, partly to her friends, who she had momentarily forgot were even there, but primarily to herself as her brain fired off things the note could read. Upon opening it, she found she couldn't read it too well, so she did what she normally does and held it right up to her face so as to read it easier.

Ducky's mind went totally blank. For what felt like an eternity (but was probably only two or three minutes) the young brunette stared off into space, the note resting in her lap, where it had fell when her brain decided it had had enough. Beautiful. What? Well, that explained why he even spoke to her, obviously Chester had even worse eyesight than Ducky! He hid it well, she would have never guessed. If he was calling her beautiful, obviously he needed to think about getting himself a pair of glasses. This was the only way she could wrap her head around that word, other than he might honestly be teasing her, which she didn't want to think about. Her face was bright read, and showed no signs of changing any time soon. Flustered, she decided to drive the conversation elsewhere, "I-I should probably message my dad about my glasses before I forget!" she chirped, trying very hard to act like her brain wasn't trying to analyze everything about the strange little note from Chester. She nearly dropped her MirrorPad, twice, but eventually pulled it out from her pile of belongings and woke it up again. She held the device right up to her face, as she had with her classwork, and scrolled through her short list of contacts, stopping when she saw the picture of her dad, the much prettier Duckett, that she used to tell contacts apart when she lost her glasses.

Ducky wrote to her father at a painfully slow pace, not only did it take her a moment to find the right letter on the screen, she was also very shaky at the moment, thus making the task far harder than it actually was. She felt uneasy, even after she eventually finished the message to her father and sent it off, hoping he'd get it soon. Carefully, she folded the note from Chester back up, without properly sharing it with her friends, she was embarrassed since it could have very well been him teasing her, and tucked it away between the pages of her Crownculous textbook. "W-we should just go..." she sighed, fussing with the wisps of hair tickling her nose, "To the d-dance, all three of us... a-and whoever else you guys w-would want to bring!" she looked to Ava with a hint of pleading in her eyes, "It would be more fun with more of us... A-and I love you guys, so that should... Be enough..." she was losing steam, biting down on her lip before she said anything else silly. At best, they dance and have fun and make a happy memory before Ava and Kat move on from Ever After High, and the worst that could happen would be that they get bored or something and head back to the dorms early.

Ducky was trying to be optimistic about it, and distract herself from getting her hopes up about Chester, which apparently meant getting on board with Kat's plan to go to the True Heart's Day dance... "How bad c-could it be?" she wondered quietly as her gaze wandered from one girl to the other, trying to manage a smile to encourage an agreement.

ooc; just thought I'd show ducky's dad because... dunno, thought it'd be fun (and i love me some michael fassbender.) hope this covers everything!

Ingolf Fenrirson was not a morning person - although, to be fair to mornings, he wasn't particularly fond of the rest of the day, either. Mornings, however, were especially dreadful, and Ingolf was content to simply sleep through them whenever it was allowed. This was partially due to the fact that he was more of a nocturnal person -- or, rather, wolf. Before school, he been accustomed to sleeping through the day and hunting at night, and even after three years at Ever After High, his body still preferred its old schedule. It was in his nature, after all, and there was too much of the wolf in him for Ingolf to adjust properly to human life. He had learned that his professors did not appreciate he tried to sleep through their classes, which made sense since he wasn't particularly thrilled with them trying to wake him up, so Ingolf had made an honest attempt at adjusting to a new sleeping schedule.

His honest attempt had failed miserably.

No matter how hard he tried, Ingolf couldn't sleep through the night. The wolf was too active then, and regardless of how tired he felt up until that point, there was no chance of him falling into a peaceful sleep once the sun set. It was like his body went into overdrive, and all he wanted to do was prowl through the woods and hunt, like he'd done for years before this stupid school and would do for years after if he got his way. He had given into the instincts in his first year, had shimmied out the window and spent the night in the woods, but he'd been careless upon his return and Headmaster Grimm had caught him. That had put an end to his nights in the woods (officially, at least), and now he was forced to spend his nights cooped up in the blizzard chamber, restless as can be but trying not to disturb his roommate.

Instead of sleeping at night like a normal human and being active during the day, Ingolf somehow managing to stay awake through most of the day and well into the night until he finally passed out a few hours before he was supposed to be awake for breakfast. This lack of sleep would have made anyone cranky, and it did not combine well with Ingolf's general irritability. So when someone made the unwise decision of trying to wake him up, the first reaction whoever it was received was a low growl, a clear warning that they might want to reconsider. Then something small brushed against his bare back, and Ingolf instinctively relaxed, already aware of the identity of the intruder in his bed. It took Ingolf a moment to untangle himself from the way the rest of the sheets were twisted around him, but once he was free, he rolled carefully over to stare at the small intruder. "Traitor," he grumbled at the hedgehog, reaching out to brush a hand lightly over his head. Whether the comment was meant for Poco or Wolfgang was unclear, though it could have easily worked for both.

Ingolf would never stay mad at Poco for long, since the hedgehog was blameless unlike its owner. It was Wolfgang who used Poco to try and trick Ingolf into things, and Ingolf who reluctantly agreed every time. Wolfgang was aware of two of Ingolf's major weaknesses, and that normally wouldn't have sat well with Ingolf. He was a very private person and trusted very, very few people, but Wolfgang Stone was among that small group. They had been roommates since Ingolf's freshman year, and despite his usually prickly personality, Ingolf had found a close friend in Wolfgang. His roommate knowing that all it took was an animal to distract him and a couple scratches between his ears to convince Ingolf to do something hardly worried Ingolf any more, though it had been a cause of great concern in the beginning. He had worried at first that Wolfgang would betray him somehow with this information or perhaps use it to blackmail Ingolf, but the worst he had done was use Ingolf as some sort of guinea pig for haircuts.

Of course, Wolgang had also woken him up, which Ingolf was still fairly grumpy about, so he shot the older male a glare before pushing himself into a sitting position. He scooped Poco up off the bed, both to prevent the hedgehog from becoming stuck or squished accidentally by Ingolf and so that he could pet the prickly creature. "You're a cruel b*****d, Wolfgang Stone," Ingolf grunted, though there was no real heat behind the words.

Cradling Poco in one large hand, Ingolf leaned over to the bedside table to check the time on his iMirror. He normally didn't wake up until the very last minute possible, and he frowned when he realized how early it was compared to his normal wake up time. "What's so important that you had to wake me up this bloody early?" Surely Wolfgang wasn't waking him up just for class? Ingolf didn't consider his classes important, and why should he? None of them would help if he followed in his father's footsteps (well, paw prints) and spent his life in chains.

POTIONS BEAST TRAINING & CARE MYTHOLOGY GRIMM-NASTICS

Mornings were not best for Izzy. Not because he was a grumpy morning person, which he was, but because he just simply could not function. Mornings meant daylight, which meant it was a bit of a struggle to pull off pranks when there were people that could watch his every move--like Angelus, who seemed to always know what he was up to. The blonde haired, green eyed troublemaker moved from his side to his back on his bed, as he took a deep breath of the mist he never got tired of. Izzy's eyes opened slowly as he finally admitted defeat from sleep, and moved off his bed to stand in front of his dresser. Opening it, he grabbed a shirt, his boxers and a pair of jeans before heading to the bathroom to shower and clean the grogginess off of him.

After his shower, he threw on his clothes, and, quickly, left the dorm and headed for the cafeteria. As he walked down the hallway, he felt something move inside his jeans' pocket. "What the..." His hand slid in and, with his fingers pinching the fur of a small animal, pulled out Malco, a marmoset monkey who was rescued, of course, by his roommate Dash. "What are you doing in my pockets?" Izzy playfully scolded Malco, who then in return made a whistle-like sound. "What's it gonna be today? Apple? Grapes? You hate bananas, which is weird to me. But, hey, not judging." The small monkey ran up his shirt to his neck, curling his body somewhat around it. Despite his big show to Dash about how 'rodents are meant to stay outside', he had to admit he found pleasure with their company.

Entering the cafeteria, he stopped briefly to admire the bunch of students hoarding in the large room. Malco made a high pitch, demanding for food, and Izzy, first wanting to bail at the scene, grinned. "Yeah, yeah, I got it." Making his way around people, stopped at the fruit and vegetable bar. "Go nuts." The monkey slid off and grabbed everything he could, going from the bar to Izzy to dump fruits into his hands. "You don't like mangos, either." Izzy mentioned as the monkey set the fruit in his hand. Glaring, the small animal went back to picking his food. Okay then, the blonde chuckled as his iMirror chirped. Looking at the screen, he quickly replied to his best friend:
                                                              To: Meow
                                                              From: Izzy
                                                              Message: Dear Potential GF,
                                                              Will you have my babies?
Oh boy! Hope she says yes.
But in all seriousness. Do it.
                                                              I wanna know the answer.
Pressing sending, he whistled for Malco, grabbed himself a bagel, french toast, and bacon and paid for him and the monkey's food. "It's because of you that I'm becoming poor." He said, as he turned away from the register and spotted Chester talking to Ducky. Grinning, he shook his head, and made his way back to his dorm where Malco and him ate their food greedily. "Slow down, rat, you're gonna a tummy ache." The monkey, of course screeched at his before chowing down on a grape.

"ISAAC WAKE UP!" The sound of Chester's voice made Izzy look towards the door, then turn his attention to Dash's determined-to-sleep body, then at Malco. "I could open the door and let Dash sleep. I really could...but I won't." Taking a bite out of Malco's apple, he crisscrossed his legs. "I gave her a note. C'mon, wake up." Ohhh...this will be interesting. Izzy slowly got onto his feet, but Dash had already hopped out of his bed with annoyance and answered the door. "Dash, come on. Don't be so nosy. That's my job."

"Friend, by all means, tell me what Quack said."

"The one and only," Ava replied when Ducky finally acknowledged her presence. The senior felt a little guilty when Ducky said she didn't think the invitation had been meant for her; that guilt grew even moreso when Ducky began listing all the reasons she probably shouldn't attend. Regardless, Ava would be sticking to her guns; the dance had a ridiculous premise "I'm sure you of all people, can pull together a nice outfit," Ava commented, though she knew of Ducky's self-styling predicament. "You could just pretend you're styling someone else and then wear it yourself or something..." She suggested, though she gathered that Ducky had probably already tried that. Ava watched as her friend floated away into a dreamlike state, clearly thinking of with whom she wanted to attend the dance. It took a few moments of Ava waving a hand in-front of the junior's face and saying her name for Ducky to snap out of it. "Babe, you need to sort that out," she told her with a friendly, soft laugh.

Kat joined them and was able to hear Ava's remark about the dance. She didn't understand why she was so offended, Ava thought that 'charade' was a valid description for such a silly notion of a holiday. Ava glared at Kat from across the table; mainly because she still felt guilty for making Ducky feel bad about herself. But that hadn't been her intentions; rather, she had been stating that the dance itself seemed like an all round stupid concept. It was only after Kat's defensiveness that she remembered the girl had had a hand in putting it together. She chuckled and shrugged as she sat back in her seat. She wasn't going to apologise for having an opinion, even if it seemed at present, that it was an unpopular one. "I just think it seems like an awfully painful idea. Lots of broken hearts and the like," she responded eventually. It was true, too. It seemed like a great opportunity for the pranksters at the school to set people up, or for people to find out that those they were destined to be united with forever had other plans. It had potential to be a great, big mess. Suddenly, Ava felt the need to attend.

Katerina started talking about having a girl's night in preparation for the dance, and while it didn't exactly sound like Ava's cup of tea, she couldn't help but feel a little left out of the equation. Which was strange seeing as she wasn't actually great friends with Kat. "Gee, thanks for the invite," she muttered under her breath, though she was sure that Kat would have heard her. She sipped some of her tea, which was only luke-warm by this point and scanned the room around them. It was still busy, but Verona was nowhere to be seen. When she turned to face the table once more, they had been joined by another person. Chester. He was stuffing his face as though he hadn't seen food for a month. She pulled her tray closer to her side of the table, well aware of the hungry eyes that had zoned in on her breakfast. "Don't you dare," she warned Chester gravely, but of course, he was going to do what he wanted. "Hey! No!" Ava screeched as he pierced the piece of watermelon she had been keeping until the end. She leaned across the table and snatched the fork from his hand, though she hadn't been able to rescue her watermelon. "I was saving that!" She told him angrily, sitting back down in her seat with a heavy thud. "You have your own food right in-front of you." She said, gesturing to his tray. It was empty. "Correction: had. You can't possibly still be hungry."

They had never really talked about what it is they were, Ava and Chester. Really, the girl didn't think they were anything - she certainly hadn't ever wanted them to be. She wasn't the type to define, nor was she one to brag about her conquests, so she didn't think that anyone knew of their history beyond their strange love-hate-friendship. Possibly Izzy, because of his friendship with Chester, but Ava wasn't keyed in on what the boys did and didn't share. Yes, she did make it known which boys (and girls) she found herself attracted to, but Ava liked to think of herself as a bit more classy than to mouth off about the people she had actually slept with. She found it was a much more male trait, bragging about escapades. It seemed that Chester had kept it to himself too, and knowing full well of how Ducky felt about him, Ava was glad for it.

Still, she thought his comments about Ducky were a bit strange. Did he like seeing the girl go short of breath? Did he like embarrassing her like that - she turned bright red the poor thing, though everyone pretended not to notice. The conversation had turned by now, from the dance to the case of Ducky's missing glasses. After swallowing her food, all of which she had promptly shoved into her mouth at once for fear of Chester's second strike, she scoffed at Katerina's suggestion of contact lenses. "You do realise that contact lenses are small pieces of clear plastic, right?" Ava retorted, "Not exactly easier to keep track of if you ask me," she added, her voice high and sing-song as she shrugged, downing what was left of her tea. It was around then that Chester decided to depart and Ava was thankful for that. He seemed to make things awkward without even trying; she didn't like the way he seemed to be toying with Ducky.

"God, he's so annoying," she mumbled, pushing her now empty tray away from her. "What's what?" She asked as Ducky questioned a piece of paper that was now sitting in her lap. She couldn't see what it was, but from the way Ducky was looking at it... "Is everything okay?" Ava asked, shuffling a little bit closer so she could get a better look. It was Chester's handwriting, but Ducky changed the subject before Ava could read what it had said beyond the word have. She was curious, but she didn't push it. She figured confronting Chester was easier than confronting Ducky. She would bail him up at some point in the day and ask him what the hell he thought he was playing at.

By this point, it was clear to everyone still at the table that Ducky was going to be attending the dance. Ava sighed as the girl mentioned the three of them going together. She wasn't sold on the whole thing just yet, but she supposed that at the end of the day, it was just a party. She had heard that Damen Bacchus had helped put it together, and she knew he wasn't exactly into romance. So maybe it would just be an excuse to get out, dress up and have some fun. Ava smiled as Ducky continued her sales pitch. "Fine," she said after some time. "But if either of you declare undying love for me, I'm out of there," she told the girl dryly, leaning back in her chair.

It had taken her so long to condition herself to get up this early. Today would not be the day to break her five-year streak. Muttering this to herself almost like a chant, Vennie heaved herself out of her soft, warm bed, despite it's steamy tendrils calling her back in. Letting out a little moan, she stood up. She wobbled over to the bathroom, scratching her head and smacking her lips in an attempt to wake herself. Stifling a yawn, she stared at herself in the mirror. “Wow. Good job, hair, you really knew what you were doing, huh?” She mumbled to herself, gazing at the wild frenzy her dark brown, curly locks had become. A disgruntled sigh was forced through her nose, mouth closed in a pursed expression. She pulled her fingers through her hair with her one hand while picking up a black hair tie with the other. Once she managed to tame her hair back into a moderately decent ponytail (tho some wisps were always resilient to her efforts), she went back into the main room. Her mood perking up, she bounced a little on her heels and had started to hum on her way to her closet. Opening the double doors, she grabbed some gray leggings with black Adidas symbols, a white tank top, a gray hoodie, gray running shoes, and a gray bobble beanie to keep her head warm. From her outfit, one could gather that she didn't see much color in life, or she just didn't care for it, or she was just a depressed individual. Not so. Quite the opposite in fact, she saw each colorless item to be a blank canvas, waiting to be used as a form of expression in some way.

                                      But enough prattle.

Once donned in her “battle gear”, she snatched her iMirror and matching white Beats headphones from her bedside table. Checking the time as she quietly slipped out the door, it was 5:12 AM when she looked back, seeing her sleeping roommate snuggled up in bed. With a small smile, Vena closed the door. ⋯ And so, feeling the brisk air of that February morning, the light breeze whipping against her cheeks and reddening her nose, her day officially began. Grinning, she raced through the courtyard and then through the gates as she began her run through the dark woods, as she did every morning for the last five years. From someone looking out from the castle walls, they'd simply see her tiny figure being engulfed in the shadows of the towering trees, her little feet taking her as fast as the wind would carry them and a gleam in her eye.

Vena loved running. It was one of the only things that made her feel truly free; from her troubles and wiles, her stresses and pressures, her father, ... Her destiny. With the thought crossing her mind, a frown crept onto her lips. Pursing them, she shoved the thoughts of her fate out of her mind and all the happiness and joy of her run consumed her once more. She giggled and a goofy grin returned to her face, creasing the dimples in her cheeks as she ran on. Now was not a time for that kind of thinking. Now was a time for no thinking at all.

And so, as she made her way back towards the path leading up to the school gates, she saw a familiar figure, a certain Katerina Gold, also making her way back from a run. Hm, interesting. Ven found it odd that she hadn't seen Kat earlier on in her run, but assumed it was because Kat went out ahead of her, and/or they took different routes, which was the most likely case. Concluding the thought, Ven made her way back to her dormroom in the Pearl suite. She eyed the plaque on the wall, that clearly stated “Vena Zexus & Luna Hood”, juuust to make sure she got the right suite this time, as she was one to get discombobulated. She knocked ever so lightly on the door, in case her roomie was still sleeping soundly, or in the event she was stark nekkers in plain view, before entering. Slipping quietly into the unoccupied bathroom, she turned on the shower and stripped down, tossing her sweaty clothe in the laundry hamper in the corner. She stepped into the hot stream of water and pulled the divider closed before running her fingers through her hair, soaking it with the water, the sweat being pummeled off her body by the pressurized water droplets.

The faucet squeaked as Ven's fingers, dripping water, turned the handle, the stream of water coming to a stop. Sliding open the divider, she stepped out onto the gushy bathmat, grabbing a towel and encompassing her body. She made her way back into the main room of the dorm, her feet padding lightly on the floor as she followed the path to her closet. She opened up the closet and pulled out some clothes. The towel made it's way from her now only slightly damp body and onto her wet, already curling locks of what looked like black hair. Rubbing vigorously before letting the towel drop onto her bed in a damp pile, she let out a sigh of content. She picked up the bottom piece of the outfit, a red velvet skirt, and pulled it over her hips and zipped it. She pulled a white tank top over her shoulders and adjusted it, tucking it into the top of the skirt. Then, to keep warm from the February chill, she pulled over a pale brown open-knit linen sweater. And just for safety measures, a black leather biker jacket overtop that. For feet, she don a pair of black flats. Around her neck, she strapped a silver medallion with an eagle in the center of the circle, and the symbols of the twelve Olympian gods and goddesses encompassing it, the eagle representing the almighty Zeus.

Snatching up her black A.L.C. bag, stuffing her books and such inside, she skipped out the door, closing it slowly and silently behind her. Making her way down the corridor, she wondered what would be on the breakfast menu that morning. Eventually making it down to the cafeteria as it began to fill with the clamoring of waking students, she quickly got in line for some caffeine. Filling up her cup with coffee, she put one creamer and somewhere around five or six packets of sugar. She had a sweet tooth that she did not deny. And it got worse when she came in front of the food section. She piled her little plate with delicious fruit and berries and, of course, a bagel and a good hunk of cream cheese to slather over it. Acquiring the required utensils for her meal, she gazed out into the midst of the crowding tables, searching for any familiar (and friendly) faces. Spotting some, but seeing they were placed in a rather large crowd, she huffed a little bit. She wasn't super fond of large crowds, tho she did want to socialize... Eventually, she managed to get herself to edge near the fringe of the gathering of familiar beings, as she sat down to eat, occasionally glancing over to try and be part of the conversation, but more in an invisible sense. God, she felt like such a creep. She frowned, poking at her food. She wanted to talk to Izzy, but he had disappeared back to his dorm, she assumed, just as she arrived. And she wanted to talk to Ducky. And Ches. And Dash, who was no where to be seen. Probably still sleeping. But there was Ava... And Kat. Kat was okay, but her and Ven didn't know each other all that well. They weren't on bad terms, just not... good ones, either. But Ava... There was just.. something about her that Ven couldn't get over. Just couldn't accept. But then again, Ava probably felt the same way about Vena.

Oh well. Another lonely breakfast, she supposed, popping a blueberry into her mouth.

                                            okay running outfit is there, and day outfit is there. FINALLYYYYY. FREE FROM THE STRESSES OF THE FIRST POST. ughhh. first post are the worst. i genuinely think they're a terrible idea, and the bane of all writers. also, i apologize for vennie's awkward entrance, i just didn't want to interrupt the various conversations that were occurring ; w;

A clank of the dorm’s door closing caused Piper’s eyes to open. Staring up from her mattress, the ceiling, along with the entire rest of the room was lined with sapphires. She never thought that blue was her color, but she her mother reminded her that it was not polite to complain about where she was placed in the school. Her mother believed that everyone had their place and that all they had to do was leave it up to fate. Perhaps that was the biggest downside of having a mother well known throughout all of Greek myths. It either had to be that, or the fact that her mother was known as one of the most foolish people in history, next to Echo. She had dealt with teasing in Nursery Rhyme School. However, after reminding kids that she was not her mother, they backed down from teasing her as much. That or called them out in front of the entire class and told them how they were wrong. She was known to be somewhat of a loud child, always wishing to get her way. She couldn’t help being strong-minded.

Sitting up in her bed, she glanced to the other side of her room. She could see that Ava was no longer sleeping in her bed, and figured that the door shutting was her roommate leaving. Rolling out of bed, she found papers scattered on the floor below her feet. She was never great with keeping her things tidy. Picking up a piece of paper off the floor, she began to read her notes on the latest scoop to do with the True Heart’s Day dance. She couldn’t stop herself from wanting to know more about the tradition, she even read through the books in the library to learn more about the holiday. People thought that she was odd for doing it, always looking into things. Some thought she was annoying, asking them a continuous string of questions until she got the answers she wanted, but she couldn’t help her nature. All it was, was her interest in knowing about people.

Pushing the papers out of her way, she started towards the bathroom attached to their dorm room. She was the type of person who found showering at night to be more pleasant. So, when she entered the bathroom in the morning, all that was to be done was a brush through her rather long hair, and a wash of her face. She dried it off before she stepped out of the bathroom and back into the bedding. Her closet door was rather hard to find, as the handle matched the rest of the walls. The first week she moved into the sapphire room, she had to run her hand along the wall until she hit the knob. However, after time, she was able to recognize where her closet was. She now walked to it, and opened the door. There were rows of dresses hanging up in her closet. She had told he mother a million times that she didn’t want any more dresses, but every time she went shopping she brought back more dresses for her daughter. It took her a month of begging to get a pair of jeans and t-shirt. Although she would rather wear those every day, her father reminded her that her mother did it because she loved her. Besides she didn’t know when she would be getting more jeans, she didn’t want to wear them out too fast.

Picking up a rather lacey, light pink dress, she shrugged, figuring that it worked. At least it was a color that represented the holiday. Changing out of her sleepwear and into the dress, she pulled open her dresser drawer. There wasn’t much inside, but her underwear, bras, and socks. Taking a pair of socks, she shoved it shut and sat on the edge of her bed. Slipping her feet into the white cotton, she decided it was time for her to get her things for class together, for most students that would be a rather basic task. However, for Piper Pansy it meant that she had to shuffle through all of the papers on the ground to decide which ones were for her classes and which were for her outside interests. It was sorting or picking them all up and shoving them into her backpack, to find them later while in class. Staring down at the papers, she knew that she should go through them before breakfast, but she could hear her stomach grumbling. Reaching down, she began to grab for all of the papers that were spread around, and shoving them into the bag.

It took her a minute to get all of the papers into her bag, before pulling her combat boots onto her feet. Her mother told her that she should learn to walk in heels, things that proper women were supposed to wear. It went right along with her buying dresses for Piper despite her protests. However, footwear was something that Piper would not give the fight up for. She would not become like ‘good’ little princesses in the castle that all wore heels to show of their legs, and twist their ankles. Piper was perfectly content with her black boots, though her mother put up a fight against her footwear. Her father ended up siding with her, for one of the few times in her life, heels weren’t well known in Ancient Greece, though her father would rather see her wear sandals. She saved her money and bought herself boots. In fact, she had placed an order for another pair at the Glass Slipper Shoe Store, which she was due to pick up at some point soon.

Exiting her dorm room, she started towards the cafeteria, where plenty of other students were headed. Though she would never admit it, while she walked down the hallway, she kept her ears open for any juicy gossip that anyone might spill. All she seemed to be picking up on was the True Heart’s Day dance, that and the legacy day that would be held on the following day. Ever since she was a child, she had heard about the wondrous day that to come when she was a senior at Ever After High. Students had been going there since their stories were created, and every year, students were to stand up before everyone and take an oath to follow in their parents’ footsteps. Only being a junior, there was still another year before Piper would be taking the oath, but she already had a plan for the day when it came. Although headmaster Grimm informed all students that if they did not take their oath, their story and they would disappear, she didn’t want to be like her mother. Not that she disliked her mother, but she didn’t want to be the cause of all problems for human beings.

She wouldn’t be following her mother’s fate, even if there were the threat of disappearing. She had heard that there were students this year that were afraid of following their fate. She wondered what would happen when the headmaster found out that they were not going to put their key into the Storybook of Legends. Even though they signed their fate in February, they had until May before they were no longer students. During that time, it was likely that he would push them to sign the storybook. Assuming that they didn’t disappear from not signing in the first place.

When she reached the cafeteria, Piper got in line to pick up her food. Glancing to the options, she grabbed herself some French toast and fresh fruit. Taking the food, most seats were filled with students. So she wandered about, searching for people to sit with. She noticed her roommate sitting with some of her friends. Piper didn’t know Katerina or Eugenia too well, but they were both royal students, not people that Piper tended to spend her time with. So she made her way to a table with the sons of the three little pigs. “Good morning Miss Gullible, going to open some jars today?” The son of the eldest pig joked as his cousins cheered him along. “Why don’t you three go run off before my fist finds its way to your face, or do you think I won’t punch you in the face?” She said, clearly clenching her fist and showing them. The youngest stood up and picked up his tray. The other two followed suit, though the eldest rolled his eyes. “All talk, but we all know what you are destined for. No matter how much you protest you’re just as foolish as your mother.” Piper wanted to go after him, but her father had lectured her the last time she ended up in the principal’s office. How she needed to control her emotions, and not let everyone get to her. Taking a deep breath, she sat down at the table, and began to cut her toast into pieces.

Groggily, she reached for the iMirror that not only pinged, but failed to wake her up thirty minutes prior. "Ugh, Mirror, why didn't you wake me up?" She groaned to her fully body mirror, which in turn replied something about her not setting an alarm. A long night of stacking shipment at the Gingerbread Boutique. Of course, as far as she knew, she was the only one who had been asked to work late. Her mind began to wander; why hadn't Diedreck been called in? And if he had, why didn't she notice? Did anyone understand, she needed her sleep? Groaning once more, she made her way to the closet, where she had already pre-picked her outfit. "Mirror, is there anything eventful going on today? Maybe on the news?" She smiled at the fit of the dress; it hugged her perfectly. "Ah, turn it up, I want to hear what's going on." It wasn't as though she was being inconsiderate; Nina, her roommate was the next Talia. She was such a deep sleeper, Verona didn't even bother trying to wake her up. Verona was glad she didn't have a room alone; she felt as though it would be rather lonely.

She grabbed her iMirror to text Vena, only to realize she never responded to Ava. Those two were her best friends, regardless of their own feelings towards each other. Frankly, Verona was oblivious to whatever they had going on. Verona smiled at Ava's message; she wasn't very vain, but that was a nice little comment to start her day.

                                                                                    To: Ava

Of course, she was nearly late enough to miss breakfast, her favorite meal. Cold air nipped her pale skin, as she cursed herself for forgetting a jacket. Tea-riffic! She mentally scolded herself, rubbing her arms.

                                                                                    To: Veee <3

Verona rolled her eyes; a heavy breakfast would ruin her day. A ring from her iMirror diverted her attention away from the long line that awaited her. "Hey mom." She sighed, listening to her mom ask about the first day of school. "Pixie Dust mom! It's still the morning!" She laughed, slowly moving through the line. "I mean, don't worry mom. I have a feeling it's going to be tea-riffic!" She smiled, sipping her milk. Verona would always remember her mother as chatty, but that was the best way she expressed her love. She couldn't think of one thing that she couldn't tell her mother; ever since Verona's freshman year, she spent most of her minutes talking to her mother. She didn't know how the two would deal with the separation of Verona's destiny. Locked away for years, without any contact from her parents? The idea frankly scared her to death; family was the only thing she loved just as much as finding true love. Verona smiled as her mother began talking about her favorite band, Fairymore. "No way mom! You did not! I can't believe you sent me their new album! Wicked!" She laughed, not realizing she was at the front of the line. "Oh my wand! Mom, I have to go! I love you too! Yeah, I'll tell Vena you said hi! Bye!" Verona smiled, checking out.

Scanning the crowd, she quickly spotted her best friend, Vena. She dropped her smile, seeing the girl sitting alone. Sweet mother of Grimm, is she okay? Verona quickly, and rather forcibly made her way to Vena's table, before gracefully plopping down across from her. "Hey girl!" Her grin spread across her face. "Why aren't you talking to anyone?" She questioned, wolfing down a spoonful of hot oatmeal. Verona hated the plain taste; she had a sweet tooth, and it was especially terrible in the morning. She curled her lip, pushing the food away. Apparently breakfast wasn't going to be an option. Verona frowned as her stomach grumbled lightly, but pushed it to the back of her head as a flyer for the dance tonight was dropped in front of her. "Hey, this seems tea-riffic!" Verona's face brightened, handing it to Vee. "We have to spell-ebrate! After classes, let's go shopping?" She phrased it as a question, but knew that even if Vena tried to disagree, Verona would try to figure out how to convince her. "I mean, I think it will be fun.. You could always see Isaaaaccc." Verona sang out his name, blackmailing her gently. "I mean, unless you really don't want to." Verona stared at her best friend, with her best puppy dog look. This could be the party of the year after all!

                      cafeteria

The female yawned in her sleep before she curled up into a ball. Ah sleep, it was so blissful, so refreshing. Of course, being the daughter of Talia her thinking this was only typical. One day she, like her mother had, would sleep for a hundred years. Because of that her and sleep would close buddies. So close it took an alarm clock just to wake her up; even then she sometimes wouldn’t wake up. “RING RING!” her alarm blared loud enough to wake up a whole army. She rolled over onto her side and sleepily touched her mirror and turned off her alarm. Her eyes opened and she groggily looked around the room. Her roommate; Verona was already gone. She yawned and stretched out her legs underneath the blanket. The junior kicked off the blanket and swung her legs over. Her feet touched the floor and she walked over to her closet. The female scanned the clothes articles for a few moments before she pulled out one her favorite outfits to wear. She got dressed and walked over to her full body mirror. The female nodded, satisfied at her outfit choice.

She walked over to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. The last thing she wanted to do was walk into the cafeteria and talk to everybody with bad breath; it would be embarrassing! She spat into the sink and got out her hairbrush. Her hair was forever full of tangles; even after she brushed her hair. There was nothing she could really do to tame her hair that didn’t take too long except put mousse in it. After her hair was brushed and moussed she left the bathroom.

The female gathered up all of her things into her backpack and headed out the door. She took out her iMirror and tapped on the screen. The time was displayed before her; she was late. Her eyes widened as she placed her iMirror into the backpack. She had to hurry if she wanted to have breakfast. The junior knew better not to sprint so she settled on a fast walk. As she walked down the halls, she couldn’t help but curse being the daughter of Talia. Because of her mother she was a heavy sleeper which resulted in her being late to almost any morning activity. She remembered the time she had fallen asleep at breakfast last year (how she did she still doesn’t know) and ended up missing half of the day. Her phone had woken her up during legacy day training.

It had been embarrassing walking into the students practicing; she had missed her turn and they were almost done. The female shook her head to rid herself of the image, it wouldn’t do her any good to mope about her power. Her stomach rumbled as she willed herself to walk faster. The doors of the cafeteria caught her eye. Nina’s eyes lit up as she neared the cafeteria. Finally she could eat! The curly-haired girl opened up the doors and wasted no time to get into line. She got her breakfast and gazed around the room for a place to sit. She mentally checked off any of the rebels; not that she didn’t like them, she just didn’t approve of their choices. So that only left her with the Royals.

Nina frowned a bit as she pondered about where she should sit. She didn’t want to be with people she didn’t particularly know; she was all for meeting new people but not at the moment. Her eyes caught sight of an empty table. She made her way over to the table and placed her tray on the table. The junior sat down at the table and began to eat. From her peers she heard the talk about the True Heart’s dance. ‘Interesting,’ she thought to herself, ‘I might have to go to this dance’. The girl didn’t have anyone to confess to but the thought of dancing the night away seemed like it would be fun.

Morning. Who ever looked forward to the sun dawning on the horizon anyway? The question nagged at Diedrick's mind, as he lay idle on his bed; another sleepless night led to yet another dull morning. Well, he didn't care if anyone was wondering, even when they should be begging for every little opinion he formulated. Taking a break from his deep contemplation, the male tilted his head over, attempting to peer into the bed across from him. His roommate didn't suggest that he was awake either, as if he was concerned about that. Then icy blue hues scanned the remainder of the room - it was dressed with onyx accessories, other items being his or Sullivan's. The sight became rather bland after having to stare at it for so long. Tch, only a stupid girl would still be amused by something like this.' He was sure as hell his mother would be dropping her jaw at all of this, even after living in it for months. How feeble-minded, he thought to himself, slowly rising his torso from the bed, pulling away any sheets that got in his way. With much scrutiny having taken place, he felt that his looks deserved an inspection as well. Upon stepping out of the bed, the male reached for his clothing he tossed carelessly at a chair adjacent to his current position. It had taken him a year to finally get over the fact that he was staying in the royal tower. He was more villainous than any of the students lodging in the aforementioned rooms. Hero was such a tasteless word. In every hero there were demons - the same demons Diedrick was willing to befriend. Even his father had to, when he led those children to their deaths; yet he eventually warded them off, while his son merely invited them in. Within him, the demons made a home and fueled his very being. However nothing was made official until legacy day, but at least there was time to get himself under control, so he could confront his destiny.

If only his father could see him now; another year and he'll be off to fill in his father's shoes. According to Diedrick, they were just as small as ever, save for having to play a piper for the animals. Everything else was effortless: save the villagers and kill their children. No remorse. Just do it. The simplest agenda he ever had, especially when it came solving already-complicated crownculus problems. If anything, he was the few kids that was anticipating their destiny. It's not like he gets poisoned or someone's kid sought revenge towards him; no, he actually lives happily ever after surprisingly enough. Sure, he should be killed, but no one ever bothered to try; and if they did, Diedrick wouldn't hesitate to retaliate that force. But enough of his life. He could brag about how great he had to someone else later, or rather whomever he ran into the cafeteria this morning. There had to be some chump willing to hear his flaunts. Who wouldn't anyway? Diedrick was perfect, as he'd love to tell himself every day, especially when someone insisted that he irritated them. His dad seldom implicated signs of disapproval towards Diedrick, so it was only natural that everyone would be the same. If anything his father was everything to him. His mom was another story, yet it was never anything that he chose to delve into; it was a drab topic anyhow. In fact he adored himself just as much as he did his father. The little piper boy always obeyed the saying, "Like father, like son." And like most people nowadays, he was predictable in the worst way possible. However, he hasn't come back to bit in the a** just yet, although this year may very well be the time. Already a junior, and Diedrick probably made the majority of the people at this school his enemy. He would convince himself otherwise; his sinister wasn't for everyone, and in this case, it was absolutely everyone. Poor thing would never get that through his thick skull, rather someone would have to beat it in there.

Actually, his head was filled with notions of him: anything directed towards him, whether it possessed benign or malicious intentions, fed his ego. The attention was just a mere factor, while he was the main source. How could he ever go on without even praising himself in the mirror. With that in mind, he headed towards the bathroom, so that he could refine his appearance. Be that as it may, there wasn't much to alter. A few wrinkles in the shirt had to be patted down, as well as reassembling the beanie on his head so that it wouldn't cause too much damage on his hair (not like he would ever let that happen). He finally moved on the main show, where he examined his ivory countenance with amusement. And with much examination that occupied the soan of twenty minutesthe male eventually granted himself an approving smile and nod. Looks were everything's s he loved to remind everyone on a daily basis, and sleep obviously contributed to the condition of his prominent features. However, he's been lacking in sleep, causing the young man to fend off his dark, personal thoughts. He was never find of that psychological s**t - never had, never will.

Perhaps that's why the Heavens decided that there be a race of mortal people versus one mere deity. Whatever it was, companionship was essential to anyone's existence, especially to a craven creature such as Diedrick. And to feed that need, the male would seek attention elsewhere that possessed some social qualities. Speaking of such, he vaguely recalled a group of kids mentioning some secret gathering tonight. Of course it barely made an impression in his mind, dice he was staring at himself in his iMirror at the time. Even so, secret had been one of the few words that managed to stick. Now curious, the male wondered if his roommate had any idea of what this would be. He had to know someone that acquired knowledge on this matter. Peering out of the bathroom, Diedrick saw that the male in question hadn't made a move since he crawled out of bed. Useless the word rang in his head, as he scrutinized his appearance one last time before departing from the bathroom. Perhaps this is an investigation he was to lead himself, and he had several people in mind to interrogate on such matters.

Where to start first was the initial question. The cafeteria would be a perfect place to begin; plenty of the students accumulated inside the building for means of supplements, including himself. Anyone would think better on a full stomach, not that his calculations would waver otherwise. The devious smile that cracked open his lips open only confirmed that his plans were set (even though the secret he yearned to uncover was probably school-renowned). By digging through his pockets, Diedrick studied the watch in his hand, a worn copper chain attached to the device; much like the piper, it was passed down from his father (and his father's father, and well, you get the idea), and he cherished it just as much as the instrument that was handed into his cold, bare hands. It was about time to head down towards the cafeteria, where he would conduct his mischief. Perhaps one of his fellow peers, folks whom would never even consider him a friend, would be willing to fill him in on these furtive arrangements. As he departed from the bathroom, he glanced again at his roommate. Still asleep. He responded to the image with a nonchalant shrug and left the tower, a backpack strapped loosely onto his shoulders, with no further disruptions.

Upon his arrival in the halls, the male rummaged through his pockets, producing an iMirror. Messages were displayed on the screen, both notifications from social media as well as whatever his friends had sent him. As surprising as it was, Diedrick had friends; however, he seldom saw them as such. Although mere pawns of his antics, he did view a select number of them as people he could trust to some extent. With that in mind, they were bothering him about something that involved the secrecy he desired to uncover. Before he could uncover anymore information on this matter, the male was interrupted as a casual voice approached him. It belonged to a buddy of his, the son of the father of the girl with no hands, one that Diedrick used to learn about current rumors and other nonsense that was roaming through the school's walls. The piper's son was attracted to the male, in the sense that they could both raise some hell in the school when they wanted to. "Hey man." the male clapped a hand with Diedrick's then came in with the usual slap on the back. He regarded the routine as a natural greeting among his pals, and he supposed it was more interesting to watch compared a silly, old handshake. Anyway, the male engaged with Diedrick with the same caliber of curiosity. His eyes were lit with the inquiries especially customized for the piper's son. It had to with True Heart's Day, of course - the day that Diedrick had completely forgot due to his own vanity. Right off the bat, his friend was bombarding him with questions about the event. "You're going, aren't you?" Silence ensued as the male processed the sudden news. He was sure everyone knew about it, and he was one of the few that let the matter slip his mind. Even so, he played it off as he knew all along: "Well, if she's begging to come with me." Whoever this she was, he'd better figure it out quick. This was day was for lovers, or some s**t like that. Diedrick seldom sought affection from his peers, let alone be the one to pass it around like a bag of Chex Mix. Rather he had no idea who to bring, or if a girl would even agree to his invitations. "Of course she would. You the man, Fritz. See ya' later." And with that, Diedrick and his friend went their separate ways.

Tch, Fritz - much easier and faster to say than his actual name. He didn't mind as much, but if the girl of his dreams was actually real, then he would prefer that she address him as the name that he father gave him. Not the one that his father was known for. These acrimonious deductions clouded the young man's mind as he entered the cafeteria. He supposed his friend learned more about it from where all of the students gathered for breakfast. The dance remained a major topic in his mind, as he received his food and searched for a table to settle into. A girl. Who would even consider a night out with him - well, all of them should actually. All of them should be fighting for a position as his girlfriend. He figured they were too coy to show any signs of their heartfelt sentiment towards him. 'This is probably why the guys are the ones asking the girls out.' he thought to himself bitterly, going through his options. The first table to catch his eyes were a group of girls, including that Ava that irked him so damn much. And yet, there was little Ducky and Katerina. He didn't care much for the ugly duckling, knowing that she's going to lose her looks in the future, and then the doting Katerina. Her maternal techniques in dealing with him annoyed Diedrick, yet having her as company wasn't an idea he absolutely despised (not that he would admit that piece of information). She was still in the running for being his date to the dance nevertheless. Another table nearby harbored Verona and Veena; both were women that got on his nerves, but all the while amusing to torment, especially Miss Longlocks. He wasn't sure if she'd be someone he'd ask on a serious note, but he reluctantly accepted it as another option. Piper was another candidate, yet entertaining her fear for an entire tonight would be awfully dull.

The last choice was Nina. He rarely interacted with the girl, but she was one of the few that he wouldn't mind being seen around with, appearance-wise of course. He had all day to pick out the perfect girl. And if he didn't manage to get one, he would still go. No doubt that Damen would be there, so it had to be a party worth his time. Nonetheless, the male sought amusement from teasing Nina about the dance. Not caring to initiate the conversation with formalities, Diedrick dropped into his seat with a playful proposition, "I bet five bucks that you fall asleep at the dance tonight, or will I have to bring you there to see and find out?" He watched the first victim of the morning with intent, offering a sly grin, eager to hear her response.
